Hi blog,
Been a while. Going by my last actual written entry here, it has been 4 years since I cared or had time to lay down my feelings and experiences in their most raw. No editing here, for a change - yay!
A quick summary to catch you up, 'cause the last few years have been quite full.
Got married
Had a baby
Landed a new Sydney-based job
Enjoyed working with Australian and NZ brands with said Sydney-based company
Got into a near-fatal car accident right outside our home
Left Sydney-based job and took two months off to recalibrate (didn't realize how badly I needed it until I was fully immersed in it -- highly recommend if you were born in the '90s like me and went to work right after college grad haha)
Did a short freelancing stint with a NY-based Filipino lifestyle brand (thanks to a generous mentor who did the introduction)
Let freelancing stint go as I got more serious with my full-time job applications
Went on a fun family trip to Bohol just in time for Chunky's 2nd birthday
Started a new work-from-anywhere job with one of the best digital agencies I've come across (funnily enough, first "worked" with them when I was still with Summit -- felt like a foreshadowing haha)
So... that's the past 4 years as a list. What's not seen are the many breakdowns and breakthroughs, coffees and matcha lattes, crippling anxieties and thank-you-universe moments of happiness that I went through, paid for, and lived through.
TBH, today's writing prompt was a personal low point. It's been a tough several weeks or month, really. And yesterday, it all just came to a boil. I've been thinking about journaling the past few months, and today I just couldn't fight the urge anymore. I just need an outlet or maybe coping mechanism would be more accurate. I've tried a lot at this point: looking at my zodiac readings (lol), curating crystals (can confirm they work haha), downloading cat games, downloading "soothing" games, retail therapy (too easy to get carried away with this), and going to the gym. But this - writing and talking to the void where I feel unknown in the best possible way - will always be the most natural for me.
I promise to be back. Even these last few minutes of just typing away my thoughts almost as soon as they came to me has brought me immense comfort. Let's work towards this bringing me joy.

Note: Funny story about this book. Badly wanted this and my then-boyfriend, now-husband bought it for me for Christmas. Was only about a quarter of the way through reading when life took over and I had to pause. Lent it to a friend who, 'til now, has not returned it yet. hahaha I see her semi-regularly, must remember to ask for it back next time.

I'm nearly finished season 1 of The Bear and
wow.
I worked 11 years in retail (through high school, uni, my internship and even the 1st year of my full-time time job), I dealt with some horrible customers, creepy staff, even these twice yearly 'gala days' where you'd work non-stop go go go from 8 am doors open till 5 pm with one 15 minute break somewhere in there to not collapse, could serve over 3000 people in a day and...
I would not last ONE day in a restaurant! 😆😅
No no no no. I would cry if I was around that much stress and shouting on a daily basis.
Sydney, I love you girl. ❤️ I would have burst into tears at the first f bomb. 😭

All Areas Factory Sweeping
Tumblr media
Factory and warehouse cleaning services require a specific approach. These industries deal with chemicals, bio-hazards materials and heavy machinery, so the cleaning process needs to be thorough.
The cleanliness of your workplace is a big part of keeping your staff happy and healthy. It’s also critical for meeting health and safety regulations. Using a floor scrubber is the best way to keep your facility clean. These machines get your floors cleaner than mops and buckets, and they save you hundreds of hours in labour costs. To know more about Factory Sweeping Sydney, visit the All Areas website or call 1300659609.
Industrial scrubbers (also known as auto-scrubbers) distribute cleaning solutions with an automated dispenser over the floor. The rotary or cylindrical scrubber then scrubs the surface to remove dirt, grime, and oil. Dirty water is collected by an efficient squeegee system and stored in the dirty water tank until disposal.
Modern industrial scrubbers come with easy-to-use controls and ergonomic design for operator comfort. They also have large solution and recovery tanks to ensure longer cleaning times and are built with longevity in mind. Most models are also designed with safety in mind, with features such as automatic shut-off when the machine is not in use.
Industrial sweepers are designed to clean large areas more efficiently and effectively than brooms. These machines use front brushes to sweep debris into a waste container that is then emptied or vacuumed. They can also be equipped with filtration systems to control dust. They are typically walk-behind or ride-on, and can sweep up to 109,300 square feet per hour.
Choosing the best industrial floor cleaner will depend on your environment and cleaning challenges. For example, if you have a warehouse full of broken pallets and fine dust particles, then an industrial sweeper is the ideal solution.
Regular cleaning will ensure that your factory maintains a high level of cleanliness and complies with health and safety standards. This will help to boost productivity and reduce the number of work accidents. It will also improve the appearance of your premises and make your business more attractive to potential customers and clients. This is why it is important to hire a professional cleaning company with relevant experience and an excellent track record.
Retail businesses rely on a clean and tidy store to attract customers and keep them coming back. However, keeping your store clean is a big task and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the work load. That’s where our specialised retail cleaning services come in. We offer tailored cleaning programs to suit your business’ needs, ensuring that your store is always looking its best.
All Areas Factory sweeping Sydney offers high quality professional cleaning and pressure cleaning for both residential and commercial properties in the greater Sydney area. With a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction, we have the equipment and expertise to tackle any job. Our experienced team can clean and refresh your external surfaces using either low pressure softwashing for softer painted surfaces or water pressure cleaning on pavers, bricks, sandstone, stencilcrete, concrete, tiled areas, asphalt, tennis courts, block retaining walls and more. We can also remove mildew, algae and dirt on eaves, gutters, fascia and painted walls of your home or office to revitalise and restore that ‘just painted’ look.

Hello there !!
OH MY GOD, YOU HAVE THE CUTEST CATS !! I have this dream since I was little to get a black cat and name her Sabrina but now I have a dog and I can't really afford looking after another pet so she'll stay just a dream for a little while.
And you're seeing Phoebe ????? I'm so jealous (politely). I'm such a big fan, unfortunately she rarely comes anywhere near my country and I have to see Taylor and Harry first also tickets + accommodations, everything gets very expensive so Phoebe will wait asdfghjkl.
How did it go with your friends in the pub ? I hope you had a good time !!! I understand you're already off work for the holidays ? This sounds great and I am once again jealous (politely) because we work until December 23rd so I have one more day until I can breathe.
I see you're very passionate about the MBTI types. I got my type from 16personalities and according to them I'm an INFP. I still haven't taken the test that you've linked but I will let you know my result as soon as I do !!!! Meanwhile, can you tell me something more about INFPs ? Or give me a link to a website where I can read more, if that's alright with you. Also, what's your MBTI type and what do you like and dislike about it ?
Love,
Secret Santa 🎅
omg sabrina! i love that name for a cat! was it perhaps inspired by sabrina the teenage witch (and the black cat salem from that show)? it's cool that you have a dog though!! my household has always been a cats household, i think my parents do eventually want to get a dog (and i wouldn't mind one too!) but it is a bit complicated when we already have cats haha
and yes i'm going to see phoebe in feb!! i'm super excited. i'm very lucky/grateful that i live in a city where concerts come to, as long as artists tour australia they will almost certainly come to sydney, so i don't have to pay for travel or accommodation which definitely makes a big difference. i'm guessing you're also waiting on taylor to announce international dates!! i'm very much anticipating the announcement but also fearing it because i just know trying to get tickets is going to be so crazy!
thank you, it did go well! and yeah, when i say my "work" i'm actually a phd student, so technically what i do is actually study but it's pretty much my full time job! i never know whether to refer to it as "uni" or "work" because it's not like a typical degree but i'm also not technically employed for what i do so 😅 the university i'm at closes down for two weeks between christmas and new year, so we all get that time off which is really nice! up until i started this year i worked casual in retail for like 6 years so this will be the first christmas eve in that time that i haven't had to work which is refreshing! i hope you get a nice break too!!
ooh yes, the problem with tests like 16personalities is that they're what's known as "dichotomy" tests, where they test for i vs e, s vs n, etc. which kinda oversimplifies it and gives off the impression that people are one or the other, and also leads to some stereotypes (e.g. sensors aren't creative, feelers are overemotional, etc) which just kinda biases people towards/against certain types! i have a link in my pinned post as well which is an intro to the cognitive functions which is (in my opinion) a more in-depth and accurate way to look at mbti! i have an explanation under the cut too because it got a bit long and i don't want to annoy anyone on my dash haha. i see your other ask too so i'll answer that as well so i can tell you more about your potential types!!
basically there are 8 cognitive functions and each type uses 4, probably most importantly every type actually has a mixture of all "categories" of functions - i.e. everyone senses, everyone intuits, everyone feels, everyone thinks, and there are "introverted" and "extroverted" variations on those functions that on a very basic level equates to whether you focus it function internally or externally, and you're stronger at some functions than you are at others. i'm probably not going to be the best at explaining it haha but as an example i'm an istj, so my dominant/first function is introverted sensing (Si) (and my other functions are extroverted thinking Te, introverted feeling Fi and extroverted intuition Ne, in that order). having high Si relates to me having a really good memory, and i trust what i've observed and experienced in the past to guide me in the present (as a comparison, people with extroverted sensing, or Se, are those people that live very in the moment and are really attuned to what is happening around them so are more inclined to spontaneity!). so in that sense i like that i have such a strong memory, and i think overall my functions contribute to me being as reliable as i am, but i'm definitely not as great at being flexible or going with the flow as sometimes i should be! there's definitely different strengths to each of the different types.
it can be a bit complicated to understand when you're first getting into it, especially when considering all the different functions and how they manifest at different positions - like i have Ne as my fourth/inferior function, but a person with Ne as their dominant or auxiliary (first or second) function (xNxP types) will use it very differently/more effectively than i can!! at the end of the day it's all for fun and i don't think it's the be-all-and-end-all of personality but i found that learning more about mbti really helped me understand myself and also appreciate how others approach and understand things differently to me!

Desperate employers struggle to find workers
“We have three months of backlog work on our more complex mechanical jobs where we cannot find employees with the in-depth knowledge required to complete these jobs,” he said. Virtue said the skill shortage was exacerbated by TAFE and private colleges not preparing apprentices “for what the real life of a mechanic entails.” Xanthe Ba-Pe trainee mechanic at CMR Automotive in Marrickville.attributed to him:Flavio Branclion Master Electricians Australia’s director of advocacy and policy Jason O’Dwyer said the national electricity shortage is expected to worsen after the transition to renewables. He said: “Some employers will not allow their students to receive orders from warehouses to prevent them from being stolen by competitors.” O’Dwyer predicts a shortfall of 25,000 electricians by 2030, with electricians, solar electricians, air conditioning and refrigeration in the toughest positions to fill. loading “We’ve seen employers offer some amazing incentives, like eight days, nine days two weeks, gym memberships, haircuts, and nights with their partner, as well as referral and sign up bonuses, which range from $1,000 to $10,000,” he said. Bars and restaurants also attract workers with cash and other incentives. The Sydney Restaurant Group is offering $5,000 sign-in rewards and free wine courses for managers, waiters, bartenders, baristas, chefs and kitchen staff at venues including Ormeggio at The Spit, Aqua Dining at Milsons Point and Cafe Bondi. Australian Venue Co. offers. Ltd., which operates venues such as The Winery, Bungalow 8 and Cargo, offers paid training, a $100 pub voucher, free lunch and a gift bag for successful “casting calls” applicants in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. loading Solotel last year began offering login bonuses of up to $1,000 and half price for food and drinks at places like the Opera Bar, Golden Sheaf Hotel and The Bank Newtown to new employees. Elliot Solomon, CEO of Solotel, said the incentive program “contributed significantly” to hiring employees. The hospitality group also introduced a minimum wage increase for eligible employees to July instead of October 1 as requested by the government. Rockpool Bar & Grill Executive Chef, Cory Costello said last year Sun Herald The restaurant was struggling to hire staff despite paying dishwashers $90 an hour on Friday and Saturday nights. loading Restaurant and Restaurant Australia CEO Belinda Clark said hospitality workers are paid “significantly above” regular bonus rates, with junior chefs attracting more than $100,000 a year. “One of my kitchen hands in Western Australia was poached by mines for $150,000 a year as well,” she said. “For baristas, it’s now normal for them to earn about $60 an hour on the weekends.” Clark said employers are offering more training to less experienced people “to make them able to work if they have not worked in the industry before.” But UFL Executive Director Dario Mojkic said hospitality remains an industry where workers are underpaid and poorly treated despite some places offering check-in bonuses and other incentives. “Hospitality employers cannot take jobs because the industry expects workers to work unrelated hours with no job security,” he said. The chief executive of the Australian Retailers Association, Paul Zahraa, said retail employers are offering login bonuses, discounts on products or pay for courses as job vacancies hit a record high of more than 46,000 in August, an increase of 14 per cent from the previous three. months. Fashion brand Nude Lucy is offering a $1,500 login bonus and $1,000 gift voucher as part of its offer to hire an area manager, while last year The Body Shop became one of the first major Australian retailers to adopt an open recruitment process and not ask for a resume. Subject or reference. “Labour shortages have been a problem for some time, even without the Christmas demand surge, as many retailers and small businesses in particular cannot trade at full capacity,” Zahra said. Solar Energy Companies in Australia
Solar Safari
Solar Safari is one of the leading solar energy companies Sydney in Australia. The company is also one of Australia's leading integrated energy companies, supplying gas and electricity to both commercial and residential customers. In addition to solar power, the company also offers heat pump and liquefied petroleum gas solutions.
Solar Safari is also Australia's largest owner of gas-fired power stations. While coal-fired power plants operate more continuously than gas ones, coal power plants produce more greenhouse gases and pollutants. In 2015, Solar Safari had 6,010 megawatts of generating capacity, or about 13% of Australia's total electricity needs. The company also has a small amount of wind and hydroelectric power generation.
Red Giant Solar
Red Giant Solar is an Australian solar company with a focus on quality and design. They offer both residential and commercial solar systems, as well as solar repair and installation services. Their goal is to make solar energy more affordable for more people, and to help tackle energy bills and climate change. As a 100% Australian company, they take care to educate their customers and use premium quality products.
The company also has plans to build the world's largest solar farm in Singapore. The project is expected to cost $30 billion. The company has received approval from the Indonesian government to build the project. The solar farm is expected to produce 17 to 20 gigawatts of electricity, with a storage capacity of 36-42 gigawatt-hours.
LG
LG Solar Energy Companies Sydney are able to offer you a range of solar panel options to make your home more energy efficient. LG has been a pioneer in the solar energy industry for nearly twenty years, and their innovative panels have won multiple awards. For example, in 2013 LG developed the world's first portable solar cell, and in 2015 they won the Intersolar Award for their technology. This impressive list of accolades is a testament to the quality and reliability of LG's solar panels.
Unfortunately, the global solar panel market is in a state of flux. After two years of supply-chain bottlenecks, the global solar industry is struggling. As a result, concerns over product quality and customer service have emerged. LG had around 7% of the Australian rooftop market, making it a top five supplier.
Certified Energy Solutions
When it comes to solar energy, there are a number of options. Solar Power Australia specializes in battery storage devices and solar panel units. They also offer hands-on client assistance. Using solar power is a great way to reduce your electricity bill while helping the environment. It also comes with low maintenance costs. A solar system includes solar panels and battery storage devices to store excess energy, minimizing your dependence on the utility system. This will reduce your power price spikes and cut your dependence on fossil fuels.
The average Australian household will save over $2,000 a year with a solar energy system. In fact, installing a solar energy system will protect your home from the carbon tax and unpredictable electricity prices. Solar panels also generate jobs in the manufacturing, installation, and construction industries. As of April 2018, there were 14,820 full-time jobs in renewable energy production. Of these, nearly half were in the solar industry.
Solar Safari are Sydney based Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer, focused on tailoring solutions to meet your residential or commercial requirements. Our team of dedicated and experienced professionals have in-depth knowledge about Sydney’s Solar conditions and will design a system to suit your specific needs.

You will want to be able to provide your customers with fantastic customer services, and you need to also be able to recover funds quickly. If you don’t have enough money in the bank, then your business may not take off as quickly as it should. If this is the case, then you need a financial plan that will ensure everything runs smoothly. You need to know how to save money and earn more if you want your business to succeed. One of the best ways to ensure this happens is with a car lockout service company. A locksmith company should be able to take care of all the can’t keep up with the demand situation that occurs when someone needs their vehicle locked out, and they don ’t have access to their home or expense their own time. They should be able to handle the situation quickly, and they need a trustworthy company that will get the job done right. A locksmith company like carkeyssydney.com.au has been operating in Sydney for over 30 years.

“this scamdemic was planned and designed to destroy small business” statement invalid. the pandemic is real and all it did was show how many shitty many types of business owners are towards their employees in regards to low paying jobs/not paying correct wages (especially in the hospitality industry)…. and you, gary, don’t like the fact that your fucked up underhanded way of treating and paying your staff while begging them to keep working through the pandemic has been exposed. and now you’re throwing a fucking hissyfit because now no one wants to work for you. and so many of your staff have left because they realised working for you during a pandemic, or working for you in general is not how they want to spend their limited free time any longer, francine. they realised, unfortunately for you, that they’re worth more than the $16.23 an hour (but should be around $25p/h bc most of your staff are in their 20s) that you’re underpaying them and overworking them till the point of exhaustion due to your belief in hustle etc culture and the general overwork yourself til you burnout or die trying/pull yourself up by your bootstraps bullshit rhetoric is no longer/was never worth their mental and physical health and time in the first place.
and plus, on top of that, you obviously don’t care about others with your anti-mask and anti-lockdown spiels on covid posts. we do not “need to be freed from the scamdemic so i (you) can make money again! no masks! no social distancing!”. and that’s why no one wants to work for you. because you actively want to harm your workers and customers/clients, bonita/darren.
like don’t get me wrong. i get that there’s probably plenty of probably honest and nice small business people who are currently heavily struggling during lockdowns rn here in australia, and also worldwide…. but whenever i see some jackass small business person (or supporters of small business say the opening comment) like i did the other day on a fb post about the greater sydney etc lockdown…. they automatically go down as a fucking asshole in my book.
because the pandemic is not a “scam” sent out to “destroy” your ability to make money and profit and to treat your workers like shit. it should be a time that you SHOULD ACTUALLY be caring about your LOCAL COMMUNITY like you falsely claim you do by running your small business….. but if you want to put yourself, your clients and your staff ALL at risk by being a fucking anti-mask/vaxx etc fucking moron because “my nail salon is an essential service!!!! how DARE they close me down again for a month or so!!!” (there was literally a whiny article about this a few weeks in my local newspaper- a nail artist in my area bitching that “oh my nail salon isn’t an essential service but BCF (an outdoors leisure store here in australia) is!!! what the hell, nsw gov???!! getting your nails done properly is obvs more of an essential service than a camping store!!” which i agree that bcf shouldn’t be classed as an essential store either- like what the fuck even??? but still) because all you want is the money- then you’re selfish asf.
again, don’t get me wrong, i know the federal gov and also the nsw state gov here in australia rn is being awful with covid payments, refusing to reinstate the original covid payment from last year and also the job keeper payment at the full rate from last year. but that doesn’t mean you or any other small business in the service industry deserve/s to open your/their nail business or your/their cafe at full capacity during a lockdown bc “wah wah im a small business person everyone should care about me!!! this SCAMdemic needs to end now!!! (so i can go back to underpaying but overworking my staff)”.
and i know these small business people need to eat…. but if you’re in a high contact field like the beauty industry or hospitality or even retail, why the fuck are you so desperate to put your clients/customers, yourself and your workers at risk just so you can file jemima’s nails, miranda??? or for you to yell at your new recruit cassidy for not getting an order correct and then take it out of her tips or some other underhanded bullshit like that at your shitty burger joint, damien??? or just randomly toss a worker out on the street because they were 5 minutes late to their shift or w/e at your independent clothes shop, rita??? just fucking work with the no contact/social distancing and delivery rules, you selfish fucks. hopefully it’ll end at the end of august. and people will remember just how fucking belligerently and petulantly awful you were during this time, both locally and nationally (since you decided to comment on a national news post on social media, frank/sandra).
but anyway yeah. this has been bothering me for days now…. ever since i saw a comment on a news update on the lockdown of nsw on the weekend or whatever and some jackass middleaged dude said the opening comment. like no, fred, the pandemic wasn’t “planned to destroy small business” or the like. get your head out of your ass and actually fucking care about other people rather than the profits of your business or just business’s profits in general, for fucks sake.

Not only can you expect to receive expert installation and electrical assistance, but free service and product support when necessary. With many different types of air conditioners on the market, the vast range of products and services offered will help you find the right one for your needs. A fully licensed electrician will ensure that any air conditioner is installed properly and securely. All air conditioning systems should be checked annually for signs of damage and deterioration. With a thorough inspection, these problems can be identified and repaired, improving overall performance and efficiency. You may also choose to upgrade your system, which many fully licensed electricians in Sydney are available to do.
In addition to receiving a free quote for the air conditioning system, many companies will offer a full range of services including routine maintenance, repairs and upgrades. Since most air conditioning systems are made with a lifetime warranty, it's recommended that you have regular maintenance performed to ensure optimum performance and long lasting performance.

Media Assessment of Issue
 https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/13/us/george-floyd-racism-america.html
Subject: African Americans have been oppressed by systematic racism and finally people are starting to make the changes necessary to make this country a place where we can all truly be free.
Author: Amy Harmon is a national correspondent for The New York Times, covering the intersection of science and society. Apoorva Mandavilli is a reporter for The Times, focusing on science and global health. She is the 2019 winner of the Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting.Sapna Maheshwari is a business reporter covering retail for The New York Times. Jodi Kantor is a prize-winning investigative reporter and best-selling author whose work has revealed hidden truths about power, gender, technology, politics and culture.
Context: Published June 13, 2020 by the New York Times. The New York Times is considered one of the most trustworthy news sources so an article from them is trusted.
Audience: The four women who wrote the article together all have different specialties from science and global health to culture. Therefore, people who want a trustworthy new source can clearly read and identify the issues with racial justice in America.
Perspective: The source has a fair point of view. The article mainly reports on what has changed so far with businesses and communities in regard to racial justice. I agree that many great things have been done so far but we have only just began. There is still a lot of work that needs to get done to ensure that all of us a treated fairly.
Significance: In a video released June 5 apologizing for the N.F.L.’s previous failure to support players who protested police violence. ABC Entertainment named the franchise’s first black man to star in “The Bachelor” in the show’s 18-year history, acceding to longstanding demands from fans.
https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/we-are-living-in-the-age-of-the-black-panic-defense
Subject: When facts of violence are committed against black people the excuse is that it was self defense.
Author: Jelani Cobb is a staff writer at The New Yorker and the author of “The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama and the Paradox of Progress.” He teaches in the journalism program at Columbia University.
Context: May 9, 2020 by The New Yorker. The New Yorker is not as trustworthy as other sources which leads me to be skeptical will the facts presented in the article.
Audience: The New Yorker published the source for BLM, those who are angry and the lynchings and recent shootings of unarmed black men and those who wish to learn the truth.
Perspective: The post presents the idea that we live in a society when violent acts are committed on black people and the people who hurt or killed them are not punished due to the fact that they claim self defense while armed next to unarmed black men.
Significance: “Martin was killed by a civilian—a self-appointed neighborhood watchman—who had no legal authority but presumed that the seventeen-year-old Martin was a burglar, confronted him, and killed him in a gated community in Florida.” “The two men grabbed their firearms (a .357 Magnum revolver and a shotgun) and pursued Arbery.”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/08/28/1963-march-on-washington-police-brutality-voting-rights/
Subject: the prostates of today can closely relate to those of 19
Author: Sydney Trent has been a journalist at The Washington Post since 1999. Most recently, she was Senior Editor/Social Issues, supervising award-winning coverage of religion, gender, poverty and other topics.
Context: August 28, 2020 by the Washington Post which is reliable but a little bit left leaning which might make conservatives wary of this source.
Audience: people who believe in reform and racial justice as well as people who would like to earn more about the protests of MLK’s time. Again, conservatives would be wary of articles specifically targeting the left side.
Perspective: I agree that these protests are parallel.  while reforms were made before the injustice to African Americans is happening all the time. we need to fix this issue permanently before tensions grow even more and no jut=stice can be reached.
Significance: The full name of that historic gathering on Aug. 28 was called the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This time, it’s the Get Your Knee Off Our Necks March on Washington.
3. Each article is clear the there are issues with racism in America. Not all the sources go into detail just how bad the racism and lack of justice truly is.
4. I am a big fan of MLK and I have gone to many BLM protests myself so I identify the most with the Washington Post Article comparing MLK’s march to a recent one.

As I get older I’m starting to notice that I’m spending more time reflecting on myself and how far I’ve come and what I want in life. I’m proud that I am getting more in tune with myself and who I am as a person and what values I carry.
This week I’ve been all over the place mentally, I’ve had days where everything is perfect and I’m so satisfied with my life then I’ve had days where I’m so anxious that I can’t walk or stand up in one spot because my legs feel so heavy I feel like I’m going to fall over and my chest is so tight I can’t breathe properly, I’m worrying about small things things or something I can’t even put in finger on. I feel as though it’s because I am growing into the next level of my life and that it may be uncomfortable. I usually take these sort of things with a grain of salt but I decided to do my cards which I do only about twice a year and was surprised by how much they supported how I had been feeling and thinking recently, it kind of told me to keep pushing through and that it will worth it. Change and growth are uncomfortable, you have to learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
The last 6 months I have become so nuch more intuitive to myself and realigning who I am as a person. I’m aware that I’m still effective and manipulated by society and social media so it’s always good to take a step back so you can continue to grow as a person.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the sort of people that are positive influences in my life and the sort of people I want to have in my life and I know thrive of being the least knowledgeable person in a room and realising that it’s a opportunity to learn and grow.
I still have so much growing to do as a person and don’t feel as though I’m ready or deservent to attract the sort of love and qualities I’m a partner that I want. To have that connection with someone that only adds value and happiness to your life and vice versa.
Since moving I’m excited to have like minded people in my life that are on there own journeys of self discovery and growth and looking deeper into themselves to ask questions like why you feel certain way in certain situations or understanding how you react to things.
I wonder a lot of souls and the connections of souls to each other whether it be in friendships, relationships or family aspects of life.
I am a lot more uncertain with aspects of myself because I know I’m capable of so much more and less concerned with other people, follow the crowd, worried to stand out with different opinions and thoughts.
We’re the first generation to be this in tune with ourselves and aware with the realisation that life is about so much more than society’s expectations of success.
I still struggle a lot with attachment to people, I hold so much value to people that have been in my life for a long time or that I have once been dear to me that I try and keep the connection going for longer than is beneficial to both parties.
I used to think that people if they care, should stick by you no matter what. However over the last few years I have started learning that you can’t hold onto people, you can make them stay and you can’t stop them from changing and you can’t stop from changing and growing.
Both people and situations comes into your life for a reason, lesson or period of time and you need to appreciate the time that they/it is in your life and when it is time for you to move on you can understand that is for a purpose.
Seizing opportunities to better myself/life have helped me out myself first and not do something or stay somewhere to keep someone in my life and disadvantage myself to become mentality and spiritually strong and free. Now I feel eventually liberated when I outgrow people or let go of toxic relationships and grateful that they have served there purpose in my life and that I was lucky to have them in my life at all.
I’m 2018 I move to another state after becoming back in my home town for 5 years, I never intended to be there for that long that I but stuck and couldn’t see outside of the bubble that was were I was living. I had a good cruisy job, lived 5 minutes from work with my best friend, I have a good fun good of friends that we used to go out and drink together regularly and I was satisfied with being short sighted for the time being. I wished I haven’t taken so long to move but maybe I needed that time there for a reason. I always knew eventually that I would have good things and a fulfilled life. I decided to leave my first relationships of 5 years because at 22 I felt as though we wanted different things in life and that our ideas of the future were so different.
When I finally moved I was in $20,000 debt, lived 30 mins away from the few people I did know there, had a crappy retail job with people I didn’t click with and was still processing some heart ache which stopped me from being open to meeting anyone new. It fucking sucked and my already exisiting anxiety and depression come out to play in full swing stopping me from going out in social situations, withdrawing as a person and lost the fun/happy side of myself.
After almost a year I got presented with a opportunity to get into a new career in a industry I was interested in and had been unable to get into previously, I decided just as I was starting to settle in to where I was to again move into state and seize the opportunity I had been presented with, which meant moving to a city I knew I was going to be thrive in and not living or regularly seeing my American staffy for a year. I knew that period of time wouldn’t be great that I thought it was a good opportunity to change the different of my life and pay off some debt quicker.
That was last year and it was tougher then what I had prepared for, I lived with 2 girls that were nice enough but different to me. Moving into a living space with people when they have already been living there for an extended period of time is never going to feel like your home. I spent a lot of time in my room watching movies because I didn’t have many friends or money to do things as I was paying off as much debt as I could while I was there. I put on weight and my skin broke out and I just wasn’t happy as much I was trying to put on a brave face. As soon as I left Sydney I started feeling like myself again and it was like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
I decided when I moved to be open to opportunity and say yes to new things. I recently heard someone say that you will rarely regret seizing an opportunity but you will always wonder what if, if you don’t. If people new people invite you out you could have the best time and make lifelong friends and if not you can just go home but if you decide not to go you’ll never know what you may have missed out on.
When I was younger I was angry, I didn’t listen to other people’s opinions and would start arguments with people because I thought I knew it all at the age of 23. I knew I had a strong voice but I didn’t know how to express it or convey reasoning behind my opinions. I couldn’t express my emotions in a positive, constructive way and would either withdraw or get angry when I was upset. This is something I am still learning but have come a long way from where I used to be.
Now I thrive on having deep conversations or discussions with people and am interested to understand there point of view and why they have it. A lot of my opinions and way that I saw things were what I have been conditioned to think from different variables in life and it is only when you start to learn about other peoples experiences can you start to actually form your individual opinion about things.

Fics Wot I Wrote in 2019 (and the 2010s in general!)
So it’s the end of a decade, and I wrote some fic this year! I am going to do the usual list, but I thought I might modify the end-of-year meme into an end-of-decade meme, and have a bit of a look back at the fandoms I’ve written in and the fics I wrote throughout the 2010s, because it’s certainly been a more diverse decade than the last!
So, here is the list of Stuff From This Year:
January 28: The Witch of South Kensington - The Infinite Bad - G - Cornelia and Sebastian and a weird, well, infinitely bad sort of domesticity
April 7: to beckon me in languages i’ve never learned - James Bond - Bond/M - E - M decides what bendings of her will she’s willing to forgive
October 18: If Not Me - Arc of a Scythe - Curie/Faraday - T - Faraday fishes Curie out of the water, and they make the long road-trip back to Conclave together
It’s been a bit of a transition year for me, but look! I have been writing! And there’s one more fic I have completed this year but not yet posted, and it’s a long bastard, so I am quite happy with myself.
And here is the little meme thing, though I’ve modified it a bit to reflect on the decade, because I thought that might be fun.
Fandoms I have written in during the 2010s: Harry Potter, Sanctuary, Scott & Bailey, The Infinite Bad, James Bond, Arc of a Scythe. There are few other things I wrote for Yuletides past, too, but I wouldn’t specifically call that participation in those fandoms, so I’ve left them off.
First fic of the decade: An Interesting and Difficut Woman (HP, Muriel/Ollivander, E)
Last fic of the decade: If Not Me (linked above) or, really, the unpublished monster-fic that is now awaiting beta
Longest fic of the decade: One Time Thing (S&B, Gill/Julie, E). This is my longest fic of all-time, actually, and will remain so even when I publish my new thing. 50K. How did I even. I had a full-time job in 2015, though I do remember starting it before that job happened.
Shortest fic of the decade: Was a Yuletide treat drabble thing about Robot Unicorn Attack, but I’m going to go with a thing I am actually still pretty proud of, Burning, which is 173 words of slightly dark Albus/Minerva, that it turns out I’m glad I posted to ao3, because the LJ comm it was originally written in a comment on has now been deleted and purged.
Something I learned while writing in the 2010s: That I am capable of moving on to new fandoms, though probably not being truly multi-fandom. I have learned that I am serially monogamous, fannishly. Apart from Yuletides past, which have always been a bit of a holiday deviation, I rarely go back to back to writing in a fandom once a new one takes hold of me, something that sometimes makes me sad, but the muse wants what it wants, I guess. I think I move on when I am ready to. I started the decade still firmly in HP, where I had been since roughly 2003, and by now I have cycled through several new interests, which can be happy or melancoly depending on the way I look at it (I am generally not sad to move on to new ideas, but I am sometimes sad that moving to new fandoms sometimes means losing touch with friends from old ones).
Something I’m surprised about when I look back at my fic over the decade: That I can look back at my first fic of the decade, and really most things I have written in the past ten years, and still be damn proud of them. I think part of it is age and maturity, but an even larger part of it is that in about 2008 I started regularly using a BETA, and ever since, I can look back at the things I have written and be proud rather than cringing. Seriously, a good beta is worth her weight in gold, and I have known a few. Hold onto your betas, peeps, and if you don’t have one, GET ONE. Your future self will thank you.
Something that I miss: The comment culture of LJ, and the general tight-knit-ness of my little corner of fandom there. Fandom is now definitely a diaspora, and I have made many wonderful connections in the years since I moved to tumblr/twitter, but god do I miss the comment culture of things like LJ fic exchanges in particular. That might also in part be me missing being a part of a fandom that was LARGE even within its niches. But the muse wants what it wants, lol.
Something that makes me happy: The friends that I have made in my fandoms of the decade - shit, I mean, @incandescent-justice and @girlonabridge and @aubrys and @little-brisk all became proper Real Life Friends of mine when I lived on their continent, and @picardcrusher and @sapphoshands and @moocowmoocow thanks for also screaming about lady detectives with me. And I am so, so pleased that being into Sanctuary helped me meet @troiings and audio drama fandom put me in touch with @lothiriel84 and @mifhortunach and just. yeah. There are probably more people I’m going to feel bad about forgetting but like, FADOM FAMS it means so much to me!
Strongest memories of writing from the decade: Writing ‘Scenes From a Very Special Friendship’ in a notebook in 2011 while on holiday attending DiaCon Alley in the UK, teasing it to the person I was writing it for and talking about it with @kiwi-collideoscope. Writing ‘A Sexual Awakening in Five Acts’ in the breaks at my retail job, sometimes skiving and taking hella long breaks on the steps outside the store and sometimes writing smut in the breakroom while trying to keep a straight face - I think that was the first fic I really wrote large chunks of on my phone, a practise that I have continued, and continues to make me happy. Writing a scene of ‘Be Here, By Me’ in which Julie Dodson smokes a cigarette with the sun on her face while doing exactly the same thing myself. Sitting in the restauarant/bar of my hotel in Berlin with my evening cup of tea (because German hotels don’t have a kettle in the room? idek) writing ‘Warrirors’, which was my first Infinite Bad fic, and the first fic I had written in two years. Starting to write ‘Tethers’ in the taxi in Manila on my way to the airport after my stopover on my way home to Sydney in 2018.
Something I wish I’d written: I wish I’d been able to get on the Berena train, fanfic-wise, but it was such a wild explosion that I couldn’t keep up with it, and the fact that canon never stopped really threw me, too. I really wish I’d managed to write that fucking Yuletide assignment in 2016, though, because none of the NYR prompts have grabbed me since.
Where I think the 2020s will take me: i honestly have no idea, but it might be fun to speculate for the future. Into new fandoms, I think is a safe bet - probably fandoms with Awesome Ladies. I hope this Arc of a Scythe thing can carry me a bit further, but after that, who knows? At the start of the decade, I had no idea that Scott & Bailey existed, or that I would fall for Sanctuary as hard as I did. I had no idea a wild and crazy RPG podcast would be the thing to pull me out of a two-year dry spell, or that I would finish a fic that had been sitting in my WIPs for two years (that’s ‘to beckon me’, btw, thanks, @tayryn, for helping me do a thing I never thought possible and take something OFF the backburner!). But yeah, whatever my 2020s fannish journey holds, I bet it has Awesome Ladies in it - particularly older ones.
