I think one of my least favourite kinds of people are the ones who talk from a place of privilege and silence those with less privilege than them. The ones who sit on a moral high horse whose worst life event was like falling off a bike. Like I'm sorry but you don't get to decide what's okay for an abuse victim to feel or do or think. You don't get to tell people you are worlds away from how awful you think they are or how you think they should "just try harder" or "change their mindset." Genuinely. Hate the lot of these types. Literally makes me shake with rage the way people will talk as if they know shit about an issue when they just... don't. If you've ever told a victim of personal or institutional abuse something like the above quotes or been condescending to them about their issues or judged them for how they dealt with an impossible situation, kindly go hug a landmine. I am sick and tired. Truly. Stop only listening to "perfect victims." Stop acting like the systems in place help the majority of victims. Stop acting like changing the self will automatically always change the situations people are in. Start fighting the systems that allow and encourage abuse. Start advocating for abused youth, people under conservatorships, abused people being controlled financially, and all other people who are very simply stuck and couldn't leave no matter how much they "change." Or else fuck off and stop using the spaces of people currently going through abuse and those who have survived through it to talk about your cupcakes and rainbows nonsense. This is a toxic positivity and condescension hate blog.
