Sometimes interacting with HP fans gets so annoying because so many believe that Harry was only alive through the power of plot Armor, and Hermione. They even believe that Malfoy would win in a duel with him. When canonically, Harry was the best in DADA surpassing even Hermione ( he scored an O in his OWLS while she scored an E), taught the whole of DA, scored straight Es in OWLs whilst suffering from Voldemort induced headache all year round, was the best dueler in his year ( that means better than all the Slytherins including one ferret Malfoy), was so powerful that he produced a corporeal patronus at 13 ( something that fully grown wixen struggle at) and defeated a whole hoard of Dementors saving himself and his Godfather at the same time and then proceeded to teach it at age 15 to his fellow classmates. Not to mention he had great reflexes due to his unfortunate childhood (god kill the Dursleys) and seeker training, could think and lead others in the heat of the battle, and had a lot of will power (imperious curse resistance and the priori incantatem). And he defeated a twenty feet long basilisk and Voldemort on atleast 3 occasions; just because he did it with a lot of luck that doesn't mean he shouldn't be credited with it, and that too without Hermione (I don't mean to imply that she did not help at all but she was not there during the fight itself). Malfoy, on the other hand, was a coward at best. He was not smarter than Hermione (which also shows than he was not genius as he couldn't even scoring first place when he had the option of practicing during the summers while she didn't for all those writers writing Draco as some kind of second coming of Tom Riddle without the sociopathy) and certainly not better at duelling and defence than Harry as it is clearly showed in the series. He had more at his disposal and even then he always fell short. He also ran away when he encountered the wraith in the Forbidden forest, during the midnight duel, during the battle of Hogwarts, and those are just from the top of my head. He couldn't even beat Harry during the second year duel. This just goes to show that he may have had more knowledge but that doesn't mean much in a real duel, where you have to make split second decisions. So Harry can easily wipe the floor with him. Hermione too knew more spells than Harry but he would beat her in a duel (maybe not in first or second year). So just because Harry is not academically inclined, that in no way means that he is incompetent because he has more fight experience and the reflexes to survive. And this is what some fanfic writers fail to incorporate into the fics, which is just my opinions so please don't come at me. Also, Harry was great at putting pieces of information together to reach the conclusion which made him a fantastic auror. It is mentioned that he became Head Auror at age of 25 or 26. And there is nothing wrong with using Expelliarmus, as it takes away the only weapon your enemy has against you, which is tactically speaking a great course of action, especially if your opponent is a pure blood.
