One month gym progress I’ll be updating my blog on this monthly excited for this journey let me know if you see any progress in the comments! Red beanie pic is the first workout! 😎💪 also 5 years on testosterone boys insane how quick time flies!
My first upper body workout since before top surgery 🙌 For the first time ever I’m doing a lean bulk to put on some muscle mass. I’ll do a comparison video in 3 months. But damn does it feel good to be back in the gym 💪
I used to boulder but my gym closed, so I just swim these days. It's good cardio, but it doesn't build muscle and I don't know where to start with calisthenics or weights.
I keep telling everyone that I swear by doing push-ups. You can get so creative with it, too! Every time I go out for a smoke, I do 15 push-ups. You can do them anytime, anywhere.
All you need is push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. Especially if you're on hrt, those body weight workouts will do wonders.
I also lift weights 2 times a week. I push myself to lift until failure. Which essentially means to pick up a weight that is just above your limit then do reps until you can't. You'll be super sore, but sore is good. Sore means muscles are building.
I posted some shirtless pictures about an hour ago in a fitness group on reddit (not a trans group). And I didn’t mention that I was trans. I got a couple comments but so far no one has said anything about me having tits so I think my chest might actually pass as cis. I’m pretty hairy so I guess I just look like a guy with really bad gyno.
Today marks four weeks that I’ve been in Alaska! It’s been an actual dream come true, and tonight Im going with a group to photograph the Aurora Borealis 😁
I’ve averaged walking 32 miles a week for 4 weeks straight. I’ve worked out at least 3 days a week and improved my pushups from barely being able to do 1 set of 10 to being able to do 3 sets of 15. My knees barely hurt going up and down stairs anymore, my back feels better, and my quality of sleep seems to be improving.
I’ve lost TEN (10!) lbs since the last time I weighed myself back home. While weight isn’t the main measuring stick I’m using, it does feel good to see that progress is being made.
After being diagnosed with pre diabetes two weeks before I came here, I’ve been trying really hard to reverse that. Keeping my body in a well-functioning state as long as possible is only getting more important to me as I’m getting older.
Doing all of this while having chronic pain has been challenging, but I feel really lucky to be able to push myself like this when so many other people with chronic pain can’t.
One more month and then I’m headed home for spring break. I can’t wait to see Will! We have been talking on the phone or FaceTime just about every day, but I miss the comfort of his hugs and kisses. He’s doing great so far at his new job despite a bumpy start. I’ve realized a lot of ways that I take him for granted since being so far away from him, and how much I complain and how little I celebrate him. Going forward, I want to be better about that.
if you have the ability to, lift weights! you'll feel so powerful and masc, plus there's a whole bunch of benefits that come from weightlifting, including positive effects on mental health and energy
