Spoilers for Fruits Basket!!!

Killua being a little protective of Tohru when the latter has her first interaction with Akito! Tohru is nervous of this interaction but not because of Akito herself but more so trying to hold the assassin child back. Akito is confused as to why this random child looks like he wants to murder her…

This was inspired by Chapter 20 of “Main Character Syndrome (With Exceptions)” where Killua and Tohru interact for a bit, and I was inspired by it, and felt that with more development, it’d be similar to Yuki and Tohru’s relationship, where Killua would be drawn to Tohru due to her motherly nature and kindness, and as their friendship evolves, they’d look at for one another! I’d also low key imagine after seeing Tohru’s future that Killua would be a bit protective of her ESPECIALLY when she’s involved with Akito. While Killua would understand Akito’s situation and be happy with the fact she stops her abuse in the end, I feel Killua would still end up not liking her a lot, ESPECIALLY with the crap Akito pulls at the end of Season 3 against Tohru. So overall, Killua and Tohru would have a very wholesome relationship! I was kinda split on whether I should do Akito or Shigure (I have very mixed opinions on both oth them, can you tell?) but I thought Akito would be more fitting, given the fact she’s the main villain of the story of Furuba.

Side Note: what’s up with Tohru and her affinity for cat people that’s names start with K?? (Kyo, Killua??? If I had a nickel-)

Saki:

Psychic goth girl who was cast as Cinderella in a school play. The play was so poorly cast overall that the entire script had to be rewritten, thus “Cinderella-ish” was born. Hanajima played a Cinderella dressed in all black, and when confronted by the fairy godmother, she simply wished for meat.

idk if this is what you meant by 'acting' as Cinderella but in-universe she got cast as Cinderella in the school play, and the characters ended up re-writing the entire play to work around her because she was too Goth and disinterested to play a classic Cinderella character.

She plays the best version of Cinderella. All she cared about was going to the ball for the barbecue. The episode she's in is a really good one as well.

Overall Saki is not a Cinderella character, but you did say we could submit them if they were Cinderella in an in-universe play, and that she was! In Season 2 Episode 23 "It's Cinderella-ish", her class puts on a production of Cinderella and she ends up getting cast as the titular role, which a lot of other characters think is crazy because she's this straight-faced, emotionally-repressed, exclusively-wears-black kinda girl. Also her best friend Tohru (the anime's protagonist) gets cast as an evil stepsister, and she's one of the sweetest people ever and has so much trouble being mean to Saki even fakely and vice versa. Of course, Saki has no problems being rude to the Prince Charming character in the play, played by Kyo, a guy who's sweet deep down (but only to Tohru and his adoptive father) but is other wise a hot head who's always getting into fights. So between Saki as Cinderella having a genuine love for her stepsister and a general animosity with the prince, in addition to the fact that when she goes to the ball, all she wants to do is eat, not mingle, she makes for a very interesting Cinderella.

so this shoujo series has a storyline where the class puts on a Cinderella play but instead of the heroine playing Cinderella, shenanigans happen that lead to the heroine's goth best friend, Saki Hanajima, aka Hana-chan, aka Demon Queen, playing the lead role. Hana-chan's Cinderella dresses in all black against the wishes of the play's director, does not give 2 shits about the prince, and is just a general menace to society. I know she's probably not gonna win but I just wanted to share her with all of you bc I love her and the Cinderella-ish arc is to this day some of the funniest shit I've seen in a manga

their high school class decided to randomize who played which characters in their production of Cinderella & the creepy goth girl got cast as Cinderella & her painfully kind-hearted bestie got cast as the evil stepsister (among other mismatched roles) so they rewrote the play into "Sorta Cinderella" & Cinderella became a deadpan, lazy girl who only wants the best for her darling step-sister & who only went to the ball for the food. in the end, instead of marrying the prince she takes his money & opens a restaurant with her sister & I love that for them <3

Her Persona is Cinderella. Her story is about disguising herself as another person to gain acceptance.

Her persona is Cendrillon, the French name for Cinderella and the name of an opera based on the story, and it mirrors her arc in the game. When you boil her down to the essentials, she essentially made a wish that was granted by her....... fairy godtherapist to go from pauper (bland and talentless depressed Sumire) to princess (her dead sister Kasumi, bubbly, personable star gymnast). As far as she sees it, even, it's this transformation that helps her 'get the prince' (read: befriend the protagonist). Why should she win, though? Umm because she's my baby my angel my sweetie my cherub specialist character in fiction and most important girl in the universe. Out of love in your heart for me, tumblr user [REDACTED], vote for her.

GOD I LOVE HER SO MUCH ok ok ok everyone here's my autism. Major spoilers as you get closer to the end btw! - She has three personas, in order they go: Cendrion, Vanadis, Ella. The first and last are taken from Cinderella, with Cendrion being the german name for Cinderella, and of course Ella just being a shortened form of Cinderella. - She does gymnastics, although a lot of her phantom thief design is heavily based off of ballet as well! In particular the black swan mimicking the white swan, and while of course that's not cinderella, it does remind me of how Cinderella was treated in the beginnings of the story - Cinderella and her both have major sibling trauma! It's a huge point about her character. Major spoilers, but she pretends to be her older sister Kasumi for most of the game; the sad truth is that she's in fact the younger sister Sumire. She's pretending to be her older sister because she can't deal with the trauma of that day she ran out into traffic and her sister got hit instead of her. (It does not help that her therapist uses eldritch god powers to gaslight her into thinking she is her sister.) - They're both pretty and also I love sumi so much she's everything to me. unironically the character of all time NOT FOR PROPAGANDA but for mod: image because it can be awkward to find one: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UyOsg26GnZU/maxresdefault.jpg also!!!! if you're interested in not potentially spoiling people you should call her Kasumi Yoshizawa. If you aren't worried about that though and want to be accurate, Sumire Yoshizawa is better. Or just call her Violet because that's her codename!

Initially introduced as Kasumi, she is a dorky and sweet first-year student who looks up to the protagonist as a mentor and eventually joins the Phantom Thieves in figuring out the fake reality they're trapped in. However, it's revealed that she's actually Kasumi's sister Sumire, who was always stuck in her more talented sister's shadow and yearned to be Kasumi. Unfortunately, she got her wish when her sister died saving her and her therapist brainwashed her into believing herself to be Kasumi. With help from the protagonist, Sumire realizes she was holding herself back and breaks free from her false identity, embracing her true self and rebelling against the hollow utopia. Her initial Persona--an embodiment of her true self--is Cendrillon, and her third tier ultimate Persona is Ella.

Sumire dosen't just pretends to be her dead sister, she was brainwashed into believing to be her by the final act's main villain/her fairy godfather figure, because that was her (misguided by trauma) wish as she believed that her sister was better than her. The final acts has a lot of 'making wishes come true' theme that connects her to Cinderella even more, also she does have a bit of 'save by the prince' thing going on with the game's protagonist

Sumire is such a cute and cool character and deserves to leave the life of cinders how the fandom treats her and be a shiny princess!!

Miraculous Ladybug birth years and ages

So, I'm sure this must have been pointed out before but as a Fruits Basket reader, I adore the Chinese zodiac and enjoy figuring out characters' ages and birth years when they reveal their Chinese zodiac. Spoiler alert for season 3 of Miraculous Ladybug!

With that said, during "Ikari Gozen", at the very end of the episode, Marinette asks Kagami about her Chinese zodiac. Kagami says her zodiac is the dragon (which, by the way, was really well thought because she receives the dragon miraculous and everything just fits so well because the 12 miraculous from the bottom drawers of the Guardian's box are the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. And I fangirl about it so much. Sorry.) So that means, according to this neat little chart I took off of Google, that Kagami was born in 2000.

That means that now in 2023, she is 22-23 years old depending on her b-day.

Now moving on to Marinette. She says her sign is snake which means she was born in 2001 and that makes sense because, if we assume that the show takes place in 2015, she's 14. And everything now matches. So now, Marinette is 21-22 years old.

TL;DR: The whole teen cast can be assumed to be between 21 and 24 years old in 2023. They were between 13 and 16 in 2015, which we may assume is when the story takes place. After all, despite being 5 seasons and roughly 8 years, it's only been a few months since Marinette and Adrien got their respective miraculous.

Again, this must have been pointed out already but I haven't seen it and really wanted to share this. I hope this post made sense. Anyways, I'm quite late to the fandom because I, unfortunately, stopped watching when Season 2 started coming out and only picked it back up now. So, this may be common knowledge and I just don't know about it. If you reached this point of the post, thanks for reading!!

I feel like three of these should be discounted because I wrote them in like 2017 - the Hawks one was literally when he was first introduced and we didn't even know his civilian name then.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, though not every comment - usually if they're just like "Part Two!" or "More plz!" I tend not to reply to those. I tend to worry about looking like I'm purposefully boosting my comment number by replying to them all.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Definitely "as the stars explode".

What’s the fic you've written with the happiest ending? I'm not sure, most of my fics are smut oneshots so I guess hitting the big O is a happy ending. "The Gift" was a pretty happy ending for Grimmjow and Reader.

Do you write crossovers? Not usually but that doesn't necessarily mean I never will.

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Yes. Once I got a particularly stupid one about some girl getting salty that I spoiled a character's death - a character that had only appeared in the manga, so as an anime-only watcher she shouldn't have even been reading about him since she shouldn't know who he is if she hadn't already seen some spoilers.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I think it's pretty much all I write lol. I'm trying to branch out a bit but I worry people feel cheated with no sexy payoff.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have, though this was back in like 2015 of a fandom I'm not naming out of embarrassment, and they reposted it to ff.net. Luckily I don't think Reader Inserts are permitted there so I'm assuming it got deleted anyway.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, a couple of times! Mostly into Russian.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, though my Peaky Blinders OC fic is based off an RP I was doing with my friend, so some of it was partly written by her, which I'm repurposing with her permission. <3

What's your all-time favorite ship? I tend to not get too involved with shipping because I like ships that are more unusual and get tired of the same super-popular pairing getting shoved down my neck. That being said, I am forever salty Peaky Blinders set up Tommy/May in Season 2 and then inexplicably just sorta dropped it because May's actress got preggers. (I want them to finally get together for the movie so badly but I'm not holding out much hope.)

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I like to think once my hyperfixation kicks in I'll go back to some fics I've ditched but I find multichapter stories difficult to commit to. I do want to continue with my Demon!Dabi story and that Dazai one I wrote one chapter of and then ditched. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm fairly good at dialogue and I try to put unique twists on concepts I've seen done before. I personally also enjoy the personalities I give to my Readers, I'm a bit picky with Readers in Reader Inserts (I hate it when they're either super passive and meek or aggressive af for no reason).

What are your writing weaknesses?

I think I have a bad tendency to skip a lot of exposition because I want to jump to dialogue. I also sometimes worry my writing is too beige prose-y and I should take my time a bit more. Also I am awful at finishing multichapter fics because I get distracted so easily. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I guess it depends on how it's used? I quite like it when people write characters with accents, I think it adds a nice flavour to stories. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Fruits Basket and Naruto lol. What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to I have a bunch of like, half-started Billy Butcher x Reader concepts but he's such a hard character to write for. I think it's because I don't get to discuss him nearly as much as Homelander. What's your favorite fic you've written? I'm personally pretty fond of "I'm neon phosporescent" for Dabi being a kinky bastard and "stardust in my eyes" as my first foray into The Boys.

Femslash Feb Day 2 - Sunflowers - Ymir/Historia

ok i thought this was going to be so hard for me but once i got the ground under my feet i actually LOVED IT

i think it was something i needed to write in a way. that closure

kinda spoilers but also like. spoilers from season 3 and it doesn’t say a whole lot just like you need to know that she dies. uhoh i might have just broke the news to you

Brief Summary: It was funny. Just as Ymir was dying, she saw herself in a field of sunflowers.

It was funny. Just as Ymir was dying, she saw herself in a field of sunflowers. All the world faded away… the chains tying her down, the hot breath of a titan about to eat her. And then the world was yellow.

“Come on, Ymir. It’s going to get late.”

Startled, Ymir looked down at her side to see a smaller girl with beautiful blonde hair. It was Historia, here, after all. She felt her eyes well up uncontrollably. Historia’s brow furrowed as she looked into the other girl’s eyes.

“Are you ok? Did I make you sad?” The girl covered her mouth. “Oh gosh. Maybe I was being too forward, having us come all the way out here alone. It’s ok if you want to go back.”

Ymir glanced down. Historia’s hands were tightly clenched around the handle of a picnic basket. The sight made her chuckle a little, wiping away a tear. “I should be the one asking you if you wanna go home. That basket’s looking awfully heavy for you.”

Historia huffed. “I told you I could handle it. This whole thing was my idea anyways.” She glanced up the path a short ways. “I was thinking we could stop on that hill. It has a beautiful view.”

What the hell. Why not go out in style. “Lead the way, princess.” Ymir bowed a little, making Historia even more disgruntled. She whipped around and started walking, and Ymir followed behind her, soaking in the view of the girl she loved more than anyone else. She would have given anything for her. In some ways, she guessed she had.

The view from the top really was gorgeous. All around them was a field of flowers, stretching out farther than Ymir would have thought possible within the walls. Historia put down her basket, taking out and unfurling a red and white checkered cloth.

“Let’s put that on the path,” Ymir directed her, “so we don’t squish anything.”

Historia cracked a smile. “That’s thoughtful,” she said, arranging everything. The picnic had fresh fruit, potatoes (of course), and…

“Meat?” Ymir questioned, looking down at its glistening bloodiness. “Where did you get your hands on that?”

“Oh you know.” Historia puffed up her chest. “I have my ways. Now come on. The sun’s going to go down soon. We need to get back before we’re missed.”

Ymir settled down next to the other girl. Slowly, they both began to eat, settling into the quiet peace of chewing. When Ymir reached for an apple, her hand brushed across Historia’s, and they both blushed. But soon, Ymir’s appetite slowed.

“This isn’t real, is it?” she asked, looking over at Historia. “You’re not really here.”

“It can be as real as you want it to be.” Historia smiled warmly at her. “I’m here as long as you need me. Until you’re ready to move on.”

And again, Ymir found herself starting to cry. “I shouldn’t have left you,” she whispered, scrubbing at her eyes. She tried to not show weakness usually, but Historia always brought out her vulnerability. “Not for those dumbass boys. I don’t know why I did that. I’m sorry.”

“Oh, Ymir.” Historia placed a hand on her knee. “It’s ok. I understand. And I forgive you.”

Now Ymir was really crying, more than she’d cried in years. “I’m going to miss you so much,” she choked out, grabbing Historia’s hands in her own. “I don’t know what I’ll do without you.”

Historia gave her a comforting squeeze. “You’ll figure it out. I know it. You’re tough. And neither of us know what’s waiting for you now. If anything, you should worry about me. I’ll have to keep going without you for years.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s true.” Ymir sniffed, the tears finally running out. “Can I get a hug before I go?”

“Oh, more than that.” Historia leaned up, grabbing Ymir’s face. She met her lips in a kiss that was everything Ymir had hoped it would be. Soft, and warm, and full of the love that she’d never thought she’d deserve. But it couldn’t last. And as Historia pulled away, Ymir knew it was time.

“I guess this is it,” she said, gazing off towards the horizon. She could hear a dull roar in her head. Reality trying to pull her back. “Promise you’ll never forget me, okay?”

“I could never.” Historia said, giving her hand one final squeeze. “Now go and be the brave girl I know you are.”

Ymir smiled one final time as the tender scene was ripped away from her. The real world met her with gnashing teeth and a mouth open wide in front of her.

No one would ever know it, least of all Historia herself. But when Ymir died, she still had that faint smile on her face.

Shoujo animes are a mess BUT they are my mess so it’s okay 💖 I haven’t watched a few of these in years, so I might be masked by nostalgia but shoujo animes are all about having a good time at the end of the day, and I’m pretty sure these will give that to you 🕺

Fruits Basket (2019):

Genres: romantic comedy, supernatural, drama, slice of life

Length: 3 Seasons, 63 episodes in total (+ a movie, but I don’t like the relationship in the movie so I don’t talk about it 🥰)

Okay okay, so like the plot to fruits basket out of context sounds like wild heterosexual bullshit. BUT I SWEAR, it is such a wholesome show, and it’s probably my favorite shoujo anime. It’s even complete with soap opera drama on occasions 😫 (I would definitely look up triggerwarnings though!)

Synopsis: orphan girl moves in with three guys, they are secretly furries 🤨 (aka they are cursed so when the opposite gender hugs them, they turn into the Chinese zodiac animals 😭) surprisingly this is not a reverse harem anime, and you actually want her to live with the guys 🤨 it also like handles toxic family relationships, and grief really well. It also has a lot of queer coded characters 😭 2001 is a lot goofier, but 2019 is way more dramatic, and actually has the full series. :)

Sakura Chiyo has a crush on this guy Umetarou Nozaki, and somehow ends up joining his manga team? Nozaki basically writes shoujo manga under the pen name, ‘Sakiko Yumeno’. He’s actually really open about it, but nobody believes him. 🦧 anyway she basically just gets to meet his team, and it’s a really fun and cute time <3

This is really unsurprising 🦧 BUT it’s a really fun time. A lot of things haven’t aged well in it, but for its time it really was changing things. Its a very episodic, romcom, making fun of a lot of common shoujo tropes, while still acknowledging that it’s basically the same thing it’s parodying.

Synopsis: Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student, at a big fancy school. She accidentally breaks a vase, and it puts her in debt with one of the clubs. Which happens to be a host club?? 🦧 so now she has to dress up as a guy and flirt with women <3 basically everyone is a stereotype, and it actively is making fun of rich people. 😭

Admittedly I haven’t watched this one in years, but I remember absolutely loving it. And luckily a friend of mine has watched it like this year, and she loved it as well. So I’m hoping that means it stands the test of time LOL.

Synopsis: Princess girly gets a reality check, and now has to girlboss too close to the sun <3 but it’s very fun. (This is all I can say without giving spoilers ig 🦧)

I also haven’t watched this one in years, BUT I remember being obsessed with it. Sometimes I still check in on the manga to see what’s going on, I do not understand what’s going on. 💖 it’s very relaxed and cute though. And also nobody is in high school, which is always a good change 🦧

Synopsis: Shirayuki is a pharmacist who gets proposed to by a prince for straight up just having red hair?? 🦧 doesn’t want to marry said prince, so she then cuts off her hair, and runs away.

Synopsis: basically a guy who is seemingly “scary” is actually really sweet, like he’s not even a bad boy. He’s like anime equivalent season two Sam Evans. Gets a girlfriend, and the whole plot is just them being cute + the guys best friend being their bestie.

OKAY, so this one is a very good time from what I remember :) it’s main flaw is that the girl is in high school, and her main love interest is immortal?? So like an Edward Cullen type beat 😍

Synopsis: a girl ends up homeless (this is a very prominent trope if you can’t tell 🦧), and she runs into this guy, who kisses her on the cheek?? Turns out he’s a god, and has just given her his god title? So she’s just a god now. And she has to go to his shrine, and do god things?? And his old familiar (which is basically like if instead of working for Jeff Bezos, he just adopted you 🦧) isn’t very happy about it.

My friend and I have been purposely watching the bad ones, because they are equally as fun as the good ones.

Omgg machi and yuki have to be together like they would be so cute!!! Also totally called his feelings for Tohru like I just knew that Kyo liked her like that but he was mommy issues-ing (that sounds so rude omg lol)

Also i can't be the only one who ships shigure and mayu like enemies to lovers YES PLEASE

Aya is so cute and my anime crush for this one!! Also like Akito too and ik that is kinda wrong but I have a tendency to likethat kind of character so eh

Kyo and Tohru have to end up together. If he gets caged at the end tho that would be such a good ending. It would be sad but I'm an angst lover.

Haru and Rin are meant to be. So are Hiro and Kisa and if Akito does anything to them ima throw hands smhhh

✨RECENT ANIME REVIEW✨

🐕🐈🐀FRUITS BASKET🐄🐇🐎

I just watched this show for the first time and I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. I'm usually not much of one for animes with the main character as a very ditsy girl, but this one was different. Tohru wasn't my favorite character, even though she was the main protagonist. That's also not to say that I didn't like her, she just didn't resonate with me the way that Kyo and Yuki did.

Initially, I found myself drawn to Haru. He made me laugh and smile - a kind character in his own way. I appreciated him more than Kyo or Yuk; but as the seasons went on, I found myself really liking them.

❗SPOILERS❗ At the end, when Kyo🐈 and Yuki🐀 got their happy endings - I felt different for both of them.

Throughout the series, Kyo slowly reminded me of parts of myself. He'd put others first by sacrificing his happiness. I've done that myself for ages; it hurts, and it's lonely. I believe that Kyo felt this way too. He felt as if he was protecting Tohru and her heart from what his fated future was supposed to be. He loved her so much, that he'd sacrifice his own selfishness in order to see her happy, going so far as to believe that maybe she belonged better with Yuki. It pained me to see him like this, because I've done the same things. I'll push people away in hopes of saving them potential heartache that would be attached to myself. It's a very self-isolating mechanism and it hurts more than one might think. We think we're being noble, but we're just denying someone a chance to make their own choice. It's taken some growing up for me to learn something like that, and it took Kyo awhile too. Towards the end of Season 3, it can be seen that Kyo will throw aside what he's supposed to do and be for Tohru. The amount of physical affection he shows her versus the other Zodiacs was very prominent throughout the entire show, but even moreso towards the end. When he finally drew her into his arms with reckless abandonment and didn't transform, my heart sighed of relief for them. It was finally over. Their worries, their suffering, their strife - it was gone. Kyo was free & free to love. I felt like I should have cried, but I couldn't. I was merely grateful; happy that Kyo finally was able to have what it was that his heart truly desired.

Yuki on the other hand - I cried over twice. The moment their bonds were released and he hugged Machi, silent tears filled my eyes. He. Was. Free. It hurt seeing him hurt and I cried because he was finally released from his past of pain and imprisonment. I knew that as soon as the bond broke, Yuki could finally TRULY be himself. I always felt as of many of the other Zodiacs were quite a bit of themselves while under the curse, but Yuki always gave me the impression that he held himself back due to what happened when he was a child. He was always afraid of losing people again the way that he did when he had made his first set of friends. Watching all of it crumble and fall away filled me with a mix of things I'm not sure I can find the right words to describe - so I cried.

The second time was when he told Tohru how loved she truly was. He was always afraid to tell her exactly what she was to him, but when he did - there was so much gratitude and love. It was one of the most wholesome things I think I've ever witnessed. Seeing her realize that she'll never be alone and that the bonds they all CREATED will never fade, and watching him FINALLY accepting and speaking his truth was so freeing.

I really couldn't have imagined a better show or end to it. 💖 ~Stupid Cat🐈 ~Stupid Rat🐀

How I thought Tohru’s confession would go: Aww look they can finally admit they love each other. Maybe a kiss idk

What I got: Kyo so deeply believes in the idea that he is worthless that even though he finally recognizes that he loves Tohru and she loves him, all he can do is simply pity her for loving him. He is unable to accept her unconditional, forgiving love because he is so entrenched in the idea that he doesn’t deserve the right to be loved, or even to exist, because that is what he has been taught by his own family. And the one person who taught him otherwise died due to his own mistake. Kyo would be more comfortable making Tohru hate him because he can’t accept the fact that she could still love him even though he chose to preserve his own self-image instead of saving her mom. He is physically incapable of responding to her feelings and is forced to run away as a mechanism for self-preservation because even though he knows he’s messed it up yet again, and he wants to be with her, he hates himself so much that he feels he must deny himself any attempt at love or happiness. All he can do is behave cruelly towards her out of guilt and shame and hope that she will finally come to hate him like he believes he deserves.
