In one fairy tale a stepmother conspired to rid herself of her unwanted stepdaughter. She told the girl to travel to the well at the world’s end and return with a sieve full of water.

Though the girl found the well, she wept, for she could not fill the sieve. A clever frog heard her tears and told her he would help her if only she would repay his kindness with a favour.

The girl agreed and the frog told her to line the bottom of the sieve with moss and clay. The girl successfully returned home with the water - to her stepmother’s fury.

The girl repaid the frog for his help, allowing him to sit on her knee, share her supper, sleep in her bedroom and then (bizarrely) cut off his head. Once these tasks were complete the frog transformed back into a handsome prince

i found this frog on a hike with my family yesterday! its the smallest frog ive ever seen in real life upon further research, it seems like i found a northern cricket frog! one of the smallest vertebrates in north america. what a lovely little man
