CALVI-AUGUST - "I'll be hanging around between Monaco, Corsica and Sardinia with my loved ones and my friends", said the Ferrari driver, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc - at the end of the Belgian GP on July 30th, speaking of his plans for the Formula 1 summer break. Here he is in Corsica, to be exact in Calvi (one of his all time favorite summer destinations), where he rented a house with some friends. And the group also includes Alexandra Saint Mleux, the beautiful girl who made the pilot's heart beat again after the >>>

>>> breakup (consensual and announced by both with a story on Instagram at the end of last year) with his historic girlfriend Charlotte Siné.
Between games in the sea and affectionate hugs and kisses to his Alexandra, now the driver has definitively formalized the new bond, which in recent months was surrounded with a veil of secrecy, protecting the first moments of this love that was being born. So much that there is not much news of Alexandra herself. It is known that she was born in France on June 19 2001 (she has 21 years old), her full name is Alexandra Malena Saint Mleux, that she grew up in Monte Carlo (in the same circles as the Ferrari driver) and that she studies History and Art. She seems to have Italian and Argentine ancestry (Alexandra speaks four languages: French, English, Italian and Spanish). Just as it is known that she had a Tik Tok page with 73,000 followers where she, in addition to talking about herself and her travels, she posted about art. But then this page disappeared (after her dating with Leclerc became more and more public)*. There is only her personal profile on Instagram (which is private) and an Instagram page that she dedicate to arts (with the name of @alexandramalenart)
*Alexandra reactived her TikTok account just today
And it was precisely through social media that the Ferrari driver's fans were the first to notice the bond that was emerging between him and Alexandra, just as they had learned of the end of his relationship - which lasted three years with Siné via Instagram (a love story that had been particularly loved by all of them). In fact, the social source states that on Friday January 20th Charles Leclerc and Alexandra Saint Mleux had started following each other on Tik ok, but after about an hour he chosen to make his following list private. Thus, since February, online rumors about this have begun to spread of a possible new love story. In the following months, the relationships come out. The first public outing was in May, during the week of the Monaco GP, the two of them were spotted together a charity football match organised by Prince Albert and in the Ferrari paddock. Where also arrives the Sinè, who remained in excellent condition. In the following months, relationships with her ex. It's then on Twitter starts to be noted the incredible similarity: the physics between the two women. And between the fans there are also those who regret the previous of the driver (and maybe someone still believe they can go back together). But then is the turn of the British GP

BEAUTIFUL, IN LOVE AND INSEPARABLE
at Silverstone, in the beginning of July, where Alexandra returns to be seen next to Leclerc. And finally the official announcement on July 10, during a match in the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Seated in the grandstand are Charles Leclerc and his friend and Alpine colleague Pierre Gasly; with them Kika Gomes, the model 20-year-old Portuguese who has been officially dating Gasly for over a year, and Alexandra Saint Mleux. For everyone, this is the definitive confirmation that Alexandra is the girl who has won the heart of the pilot, who just a few days earlier had declared in an interview that he «has a new relationship» (but without specifying the name of the new partner).
And, now, the images of outing of this vacation in Corsica dispel any residual doubts. Meanwhile the driver is enjoying his carefree summer, there is already talking about a possibile millionaire renew with Ferrari: a 5 years contract, with the particular clauses of 2+3 (which means with clauses of a possibile exit onlyr after the two-year period 2025-2026) with a total of 185 million euros. But about this wil be talked about probably after the summer break. For now the driver is enjoying holidays and... love.

France will deliver missiles to Ukraine on a monthly basis in 2024
More than 600 missiles announced as continuous support in the midst of Ukraine's struggles.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 01/19/2024 - 16:00 in Military, War Zones
France has committed to provide Ukraine with 50 missiles per month over 2024, totaling 600 missiles throughout the year, as the war-torn nation continues to face the effects of the conflict.
The French Minister of Defense, Sebastien Lecornu, announced the start of missile deliveries to Ukraine during an interview at France Inter, reports Le Figaro. From January 18, France will provide approximately 50 undesignated "missiles" per month by the end of the year.
Lecornu clarified that this is a distinct initiative from President Emmanuel Macron's decision to supply about 40 SCALP air-to-air cruise missiles to Ukraine.
Tumblr media
The missile weapons supplied are believed to be modified air bombs of the AASM family, equipped with a propellant rocket and classified as missiles in the French military system. AASM is a modernization kit designed for existing free-fall unguided aerial pumps, specifically the American JDAM model used by Ukrainian tactical aviation.
The AASM kit includes a front section with orientation system and flaps and a rear section with accelerator to increase flight range. Two types of aerial pump kits are in use in France: "Hammer-250" for 227 kg Mk82 pumps and "Hammer-1000" for 908 kg Mk84 pumps.
Tumblr media
The front part of the AASM kit can incorporate three orientation systems: inertial with GPS correction, inertial with thermal imaging orientation or similar with laser beam orientation system. In 2016, the French Ministry of Defense ordered the production of 764 AASM sets with inertial orientation system, 384 sets with thermal imaging orientation and 600 sets with laser orientation.
The range of these ammunition varies according to the launch height and the initial speed, officially ranging from 15 to 70 kilometers. With the expected start of ammunition transfers in January, it is expected that Ukrainian aircraft, especially Soviet-era models, such as the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, will be the main users of Mk.82 air bombs. The heavier Mk.84 pumps, weighing 908 kg, are only compatible with the Su-24M frontline bomber.
Tumblr media
In addition, the AASM ammunition demonstrated compatibility with F-16 fighters during the tests in 2014. Ukraine is expected to receive its first F-16 fighters this year.

Happy birthday JACKY ICKX!!!!!!!!!!!!! (01/01/1945) ⚡💜
“The fact that I am still alive after 100.000 laps is my championship.”
Jacques Bernard Ickx, better known as Jacky, was born in Brussels. He's the son of Jacques and Marie, he also has an older brother called Pascal, who was an aviator that later would also become a racing driver before his younger brother. Motorsport was part of Jacky's life since the beginning: his father Jacques was involved in racing before switching career to become a renowned motorsport journalist; thanks to that Jacky picked up the interest in racing and speed, and slowly wanted to be able to take part in the world of mototrsport. His chance came at the age of 16 years old, when he started racing, not on four, but two wheels: the young Belgian started his journey riding a Zündapp, in categories such as trial, enduro and pure speed. It turned out that he was extremely successful, especially in the 50 cc trials, winning both the Belgian and European championships. But quickly his interest turned to the world of four-wheel racing, he began in touring car racing, at the wheel of a Lotus Cortina, with which soon he gained in 1965 the national saloon car championship. The following year will turn out to be an extremely busy one for Jacky, at only 21 years old he took part in more than 50 races, like the 24 hours of Daytona, winning the 24 hours of Spa and partaking for the very first time at the 24 hours of Le Mans; that very same year he also made his first entry in Formula 1, thanks to the racing programme created by Elf and Matra to help french-speaking aspiring drivers.
At the wheel of an F2 Matra MS5-Cosworth, on the infamous circuit of the Nürburgring, Jacky took part in his unofficial first F1 race, although it would be a disappointing one: after colliding with another car, he was forced to retire from the race after only one lap. From that race on, in 1967, Jacky kept racing for Matra, both in Formula 2 and 3, to be able to gain more experience that would help him to win the F2 Championship. It's at the Italian GP that he had a proper and official Formula 1 entry: at the wheel of a Cooper-Maserati, the young Belgian performed brilliantly, finishing in 6th place. After such an impressive performance, teams started to advance their offers, but the most important one was from Franco Lini, sporting director for Scuderia Ferrari. In '68 it was announced that he would be the new Ferrari driver, joining Kiwi Chris Amon in the Italian team, becoming the youngest driver line-up at the time. In his first year in F1, Jacky managed to score his first victory at the French GP and had brilliant performances like the one at his home Grand Prix, at Spa, the one at Brands Hatch and Nürburgring, where he drove almost the entire race without his helmet visor under the heavy German rain. Yet, it came as a surprise when the Belgian driver decided to move to Brabham for the following season, but it turned out that the decision was mainly influenced by John Wyer, manager of the Wyer sports car team, whom didn't want to lose the talented driver to the Ferrari's sports car team. The season started with a series of poor results, but his performance definetely improved in each race. He stepped on the podium in France and Great Britain, he took victories in Canada and at the Nürburgring, where he also took pole position and fastest lap, scoring his first grand slam, and finished the year as runner-up for the championship. For the '70 season Jacky moved back to Ferrari, a decision he made since the '69 Italian GP; he would stay with Scuderia Ferrari for the next three season, which turned out to be not particularly significant: he still gained a few more successes but often the car would have relibility issues, leading him to the decision to leave the team halfway the season. His next move was to move to Lotus, but unfortunately he joined the British team in a very precarious situation: the performance of the car was poor, and often Jacky outperformed the uncompetitive car; once again the Belgian left halfway the '75 season. From 1976 Jacky started racing for the Wolf-Williams team, slowly heading towards the end of his F1 career, since from '77 on he would sporadically race for teams like Ensign and later for Ligier, in which he ended his career in 1979.
Despite having quite a good F1 racing career, often showing his worth and talent, Jacky actually shoned in endurance racing. He partook in endurance races like the Spa 24 hours, 6 hours of Daytona, he won twice the 12 hours of Sebring, three times the 1.000 km of Monza, but the one race in which he excelled at the most was the 24 hours of Le Mans, which he won 6 times and held the record for most wins at the French competition for 23 years.
In the early 80s he also participated in off-road races like the Paris-Dakar, which he would win in 1983 before retiring from racing.
Jacky always showed to be particularly good at racing in wet conditions, joining the list of the few rain masters. He also excelled on the extremely dangerous circuit of the Nürburgring, where 'superior driving skills could beat superior machinery'.
Despite retiring from Formula 1, Jacky has always remained involved with the sport, for example during the mid 80s he became the race director of the Monaco GP. Till to this day Jacky visits F1 paddocks regularly.

OSCARS AWARDS: The stunning stats behind Piastris stellar junior career as he gets set for F1 debut
Oscar Piastri will graduate to F1 with McLaren in 2023 – taking Daniel Ricciardo’s spot alongside Lando Norris – as he looks to build on an enviable racing record to date and perform on the big stage. Ahead of his Grand Prix debut, we decided to run through his motorsport exploits so far and look at the key stats and numbers he's notched up along the way… -- 3 -- Piastri has won three single-seater titles on his way to the F1 grid, claiming the Formula Renault Eurocup crown with French outfit R-ace GP in 2019 before landing back-to-back F2 and F3 championships with Italian squad Prema in 2020 and 2021. READ MORE: McLaren rookie Piastri explains why he chose #81 as his race number for 2023 He also finished second to British racer Jamie Caroline while contesting the 2017 British F4 championship with Arden Motorsport – the outfit co-created and formerly run by now Red Bull team boss Christian Horner. -- 14 -- With Piastri’s racing taking him across the UK, Europe and beyond, he won races at 14 tracks while climbing the ranks, starting with Oulton Park, Snetterton, Knockhill and Silverstone in British F4, before adding Spa-Francorchamps, the Nurburgring, the Hungaroring, and the Yas Marina Circuit in Formula Renault Eurocup. On his promotion to F3, Piastri grew the list with wins at the Red Bull Ring and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the Bahrain International Circuit, Monza, Sochi and Jeddah following in F2. It means he has already triumphed at nine current F1 venues. Piastri progresses to F1 with McLaren on the back of a glittering junior racing career -- 16 -- During his time in the aforementioned categories, Piastri delivered plenty of eye-catching qualifying laps to bag himself 16 pole positions. Six of those came in British F4 in 2017, five in Formula Renault Eurocup two years later, and five throughout the 2021 F2 campaign. -- 21 -- In addition to a healthy pole tally, Piastri raced his way to a total of 21 victories from 2016 to 2021, again hitting six in British F4, then taking seven in Formula Renault Eurocup, two in F3 and six in F2. The Australian also set 21 fastest laps during the same period. READ MORE: ‘He’s a very strong team mate to learn from’ – Piastri excited to work with Norris at McLaren -- 46 -- Given his victory record, Piastri unsurprisingly made plenty of podium appearances from F4 to F2, taking home 46 trophies in just over five years of competition. That gives him a 35% rostrum conversion rate for all the single-seater races he has contested up to this point. -- 60.5 -- After pipping Sauber junior Theo Pourchaire and fellow 2023 F1 rookie Logan Sargeant (now signed to Williams) to the F3 title, Piastri enjoyed a dominant victory margin in F2. He ended the 2021 season 60.5 points clear of Ferrari-backed Robert Shwartzman, with now Alfa Romeo racer Zhou Guanyu nine further back. This feature is currently not available because you need to provide consent to functional cookies. Please update your cookie preferences Oscar Piastri's best moments so far -- 105 -- Piastri was a scoring machine across his junior career, with 105 points finishes giving him an impressive conversion rate of 80%. However, this would have been even higher if a handful of guest appearances during the 2018 Formula Renault NEC championship had counted for points. -- 131 -- To put the above numbers into more context, Piastri’s points, podiums and wins until now have come from 131 races, spanning his first outing in F4 UAE at Yas Marina on December 16, 2016 to the F2 finale at the same venue on December 12, 2021. READ MORE: Why Ricciardo reckons his McLaren struggles can give replacement Piastri a ‘head start’ in his maiden season -- 1,343 -- Across those 131 races, and with various scoring systems in place, Piastri amassed a whopping 1,343 points, with attention now turning to what he can achieve when he arrives in F1 and begins the latest chapter of his burgeoning motorsport career. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

MotoGP 2022 1/3: Riders' Championship
Seen as we are officially one third into the new MotoGP season, I thought I'd collect a few statistics so far from the season. First up we have just the riders' championship with the averages in races, qualifying and points per race so far.
I'd like to note that all of these stats are just for fun and they are naturally context dependent and open for interpretation. Because the sample size is so small (only seven races) one result changes up the averages a lot. Still, I personally find these a useful tool when thinking about the championship so far and how we got here.
terminology explained:
q. avg - the average qualifying position pole + front rows - poles + starting places on front two rows q2 - the number of appearances in q2 r. avg - the average finish in races that the rider finished, DNF’s not included ppr - points per race, out of all races finished how many points scored on average wins + podium - number of wins + number of 2nds and 3rds dnf - the number of retirements * - anything to add, like missed races, team changes etc
Rider's Championship, after the French GP:
Fabio Quartararo, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, 102 points
q. avg - 5 pole + front rows - 1 + 1 q2 - 7/7 r. avg - 4,71 ppr - 14,57 wins + podium - 1 + 2 dnf - 0

The Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) of France received two two-seat Rafale B aircraft, designated "B364" and "B363", at the Dassault Aviation facilities in Mérignac (Gironde), which will be upgraded to the F4.1 standard.
Initially received in the F3R standard, the Rafale B aircraft underwent software transformation and transition to the F4 standard in Mont-de-Marsan. The F4.1 standard, certified by the DGA in March 2023, introduces capacity improvements, including the integration of the Scorpion helmet visor, improvements in the control of weapons for the use of the Meteor missile and advances in passive threat detection algorithms and data exchange capabilities between Rafale aircraft.
In addition, the F4.1 standard allows the integration of 1,000 kg AASM weapons with GPS/laser guidance, improved protection against cyber threats and updates for important sensors such as Talios, OSF and RBE2. In addition, it marks the first steps in improving connectivity capabilities, with all Rafale aircraft of the French Air and Space Force programmed for modernization to meet the F4 standard.

The two-seat Rafale B aircraft, "B364" and "B363", are part of a larger batch of 40 aircraft, comprising 28 Rafales of lot 4 and 12 aircraft ordered in 2021 to replace the jets transferred to Greece. Although most are allocated to the Air and Space Force, an aircraft will serve as a test bench for development tests.
The 13ª and 14ª aircraft of the lot were delivered in 2024, with a forecast of delivery of the entire lot by the end of 2025. In addition, plans are underway for the delivery of 13 more Rafale aircraft in 2024.
Dassault Aviation leads the industrial architecture of the Rafale program, with contributions from Snecma (Safran group) for engines, Thales for radar systems and companies such as Sagem (Safran group) and MBDA. An order for the 5ª modification batch was made at the end of 2023, with deliveries scheduled to start in 2027.

This animation shows global sea level data collected by the Surface Water and Ocean Topography satellite from July 26 to Aug. 16. Red and orange indicate higher-than-average ocean heights, while blue represents lower-than-average heights. Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech Data on sea surface heights around the world from the international Surface Water and Ocean Topography mission yields a mesmerizing view of the planet’s ocean. The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite is sending down tantalizing views of Earth’s water, including a global composite of sea surface heights. The satellite collected the data visualized above during SWOT’s first full 21-day science orbit, which it completed between July 26 and Aug. 16. SWOT is measuring the height of nearly all water on Earth’s surface, providing one of the most detailed, comprehensive views yet of the planet’s oceans and freshwater lakes and rivers. The satellite is a collaboration between NASA and the French space agency, CNES (Centre National d’Études Spatiales). The animation shows sea surface height anomalies around the world: Red and orange indicate ocean heights that were higher than the global mean sea surface height, while blue represents heights lower than the mean. Sea level differences can highlight ocean currents, like the Gulf Stream coming off the U.S. East Coast or the Kuroshio current off the east coast of Japan. Sea surface height can also indicate regions of relatively warmer water – like the eastern part of the equatorial Pacific Ocean during an El Niño – because water expands as it warms. The SWOT science team made the measurements using the groundbreaking Ka-band Radar Interferometer (KaRIn) instrument. With two antennas spread 33 feet (10 meters) apart on a boom, KaRIn produces a pair of data swaths (tracks visible in the animation) as it circles the globe, bouncing radar pulses off the water’s surface to collect surface-height measurements. “The detail that SWOT is sending back on sea levels around the world is incredible,” said Parag Vaze, SWOT project manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. “The data will advance research into the effects of climate change and help communities around the world better prepare for a warming world.” More About the Mission Launched on Dec. 16, 2022, from Vandenberg Space Force Base in central California, SWOT is now in its operations phase, collecting data that will be used for research and other purposes. SWOT was jointly developed by NASA and CNES, with contributions from CSA (Canadian Space Agency) and the UK Space Agency. JPL, which is managed for the agency by Caltech in Pasadena, California, leads the U.S. component of the project. For the flight system payload, NASA provided the KaRIn instrument, a GPS science receiver, a laser retroreflector, a two-beam microwave radiometer, and NASA instrument operations. CNES provided the Doppler Orbitography and Radioposition Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) system, the dual frequency Poseidon altimeter (developed by Thales Alenia Space), the KaRIn radio-frequency subsystem (together with Thales Alenia Space and with support from the UK Space Agency), the satellite platform, and ground operations. CSA provided the KaRIn high-power transmitter assembly. NASA provided the launch vehicle and the agency’s Launch Services Program, based at Kennedy Space Center, managed the associated launch services. Joann Villeneuve: ‘Gilles was ruthless but very conscious of the dangers’
A new documentary charts the Canadian’s rivalry with his Ferrari teammate Didier Pironi that ended tragically in 1982
Giles Richards @giles_richards Tue 21 Mar 2023 18.43 GMT
If the death of Gilles Villeneuve at the Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder in 1982 left Formula One traumatised, it was infinitely harder on his wife Joann. More than 40 years on and the emotion still runs high as she recalls the controversial events of that season. So raw have been the wounds, it is only now she has felt able to address them and time has not assuaged the strength of her feelings.
Villeneuve, his wife and family and his former Ferrari teammate Didier Pironi are the subjects of Villeneuve Pironi: Racing’s Untold Tragedy, the newly released film on Sky Documentaries and Now TV. It is a superb feature, telling the gripping but tragic story of the two drivers whose relationship fell apart over the course of one race in 1982 at Imola shortly after which Villeneuve died and Pironi’s career ended in an horrific accident at Hockenheim. The documentary is even-handed and does its best to put both drivers’ sides of the story, but making it brought back the emotions of the time for Joann.
“It was just too difficult to tell the story before,” she says. “But when I decided this was the time, you realise that the emotions you had at the time are still the same. That the facts are the facts and you can’t change them. Emotions go with those and the biggest one was the betrayal. Sometimes you think: ‘Maybe I overreacted at the time’ but then you realise no, it’s still how I see it today.”
The Lotus-Renault of Ayrton Senna leads the Williams-Honda Nelson Piquet at the Hungaroring during the 1986 Hungarian Grand Prix.
The film contains a wealth of footage, much never before seen from a different era of racing. In 1982 the turbo engines had become both reliable and fearsomely quick and before the season began Ferrari appeared to have mastered it with the 126-C2 expected to lead the field, pitting Villeneuve and Pironi in a fight for the title.
Villeneuve, 32 and already acknowledged as one of the greats, was in his fifth year in F1 and with Ferrari. His fierce but fair fight with René Arnoux at the 1979 French GP remains one of F1’s finest battles. Enzo Ferrari personally had gone after Pironi and signed him from Ligier in 1981. He was the considered driver to Villeneuve’s more swashbuckling style but they made a formidable team and in 1981 they enjoyed a friendly, if competitive relationship.
It did not last. In the fourth round in 1982, the San Marino GP at Imola, the two leading Renaults retired leaving Villeneuve and Pironi holding a one-two. They vied thrillingly with one another until Ferrari issued their “Slow” order – which remains at the heart of the controversy.
Villeneuve, leading, contended that the order meant to hold station to ensure a one-two. Pironi argued that it meant exercise care but did not restrict overtaking. He duly attacked and passed Villeneuve on the final lap going into the Tosa hairpin to take the win.

Photograph: Hoch Zwei/Corbis/Getty ImagesVilleneuve was furious. “Before this, our relationship had always been good and I trusted him,” he said. “But I won’t make that fucking mistake again.”
This was the betrayal Joann cannot forgive. “For Gilles, loyalty was such a strong thing that he never imagined it could happen,” she says. “The anger he felt was mixed up with the disappointment he felt at having been deceived by Didier.”
It is impossible to ignore the air of sadness in her voice, that her husband’s reaction was so intense because it was an affront to his inherent sense of fair play.
“Gilles was ruthless as a driver but on track he was very conscious of the dangers,” she says. “Gilles was a fair and honest driver, everyone saw that with Arnoux in Dijon, they were banging wheels but they still had enough respect for each other. That’s what racing was for him, not going against team rules to win.”
At the next round at Zolder, with Pironi just ahead of his teammate in qualifying, Villeneuve went out again to try to beat him in the final 10 minutes. At the Terlamenbocht corner he came up on the slow-moving March of Jochen Mass, who went right, off-line to give Villeneuve room, but the Canadian also went right. They touched wheels and Villeneuve’s car was launched into the air, before cartwheeling into the ground. Villeneuve was thrown from the cockpit and suffered a neck fracture. He died in hospital later that day.

Photograph: Grand Prix Photo/Getty ImagesFor decades speculation has surrounded the event, focused largely on whether Villeneuve was trying too hard on the lap, his judgment clouded by his smouldering anger at Pironi. As Alain Prost notes pointedly in the film: “In motor racing emotion is dangerous.”
Forty years on, Joann asserts her belief this was certainly not the case. “He was still angry but when Gilles was in the car he was in a bubble and nothing else could enter it. He was in a racing mode and whatever was happening outside did not really affect the driving. The accident was really a misunderstanding with Jochen. Jochen was trying to get out of the way, Gilles thought he would stay there, it was just a stupid mistake by both of them, it wasn’t really anyone’s fault. It might have happened anyway without the Imola event.”
The sport was left shaken, as was Pironi. At the Canadian GP, he stalled on the grid. Behind him the rookie Riccardo Paletti ploughed into his car at high speed and Paletti was killed. By August at the German GP, Pironi was in with a shot of the title but some were questioning his judgment since the death of Villeneuve. He had already secured pole but during a practice session testing new wet-weather tyres he pushed the car at breakneck speed in the rain.
Unsighted by spray he hit the rear of Prost’s Renault and was launched into the air in an accident similar to Villeneuve’s. He survived but the damage to his legs was such that he would never return to F1. Five years later in 1987, having taken to powerboat racing, he was killed, aged 35, in an accident in the Needles Trophy race on the Solent. He left his girlfriend, Catherine Goux, pregnant with twins. She would later name them, with Joann’s permission, Gilles and Didier. Gilles now works for the Mercedes F1 team.
Today, Joann does have sympathy for Pironi in that she believes he bore a burden after her husband was killed. “I think he was taken aback by Gilles’ reaction,” she says. “I think he thought he could fix it but then with Gilles passing he could not fix it. It was a heavy load he had to carry also.”
But what about her, after all these years, revisiting the events and feelings now? Has it been hard to deal with?
“I feel it’s all part of your bag of memories, some are good, some are bad,” she says, after a thoughtful pause. “Some are wonderful, some are intense. Everything you go through good or bad stays with you and builds you, you can’t throw anything out, it’s all there.”
