My Buddy

Do you remember singing "My buddy...my buddy...wherever I go...he goes..."? I do. My favorite part of the tune was "my buddy and me". Why? Because the presence of my buddy gave me a sense of security and empowered me to push forward when things seemed dim and gloomy.

In life, everything does not always look good; but that does not mean that what you experience can not work together for your good. Unlike the My Buddy doll that we carried with us as children, there is a friend who sticks closer to us than a brother. His name is Jesus. Know that you always have a "buddy" with you.

Emma had made it perfectly clear to Ted that if he wanted Pete to be part of this then he would have to talk to him. After all, it was Ted's idea, hadn't it? He'd been the one to suggest it... Pete being his Best Man. So 'why should I be the one when he's your brother' had spilled from her lips before pointed instructions on how it was up to him. If he wanted Pete in their wedding, if he wanted someone he knew would be there for him-- then he would have to ask. Not Emma. Not his mom. Or even his dad. Himself. Ted. Theodore 'I hate talking about my feelings' Spankoffski.

He'd invited Pete over to his and Emma's house, Ted having moved into it some time ago to make it his own as well. Emma already gone for work for the day after a kiss on the forehead and a quick 'good luck, T' then he was on his own. He knew Pete would come over with some fight, but he was glad it didn't take too much pushing to get the dickhead to come over. Ted had already decided if he had to fight Pete on getting his ass to their house... he was going to ask Pete's girlfriend to be his Best Man instead. Luckily, that wasn't the case.

When Pete arrived, Ted led him into the kitchen where he told the younger Spankoffski to sit. He waited for his brother to get comfortable at the kitchen island before moving to lean against the counter opposite of it. He folded his arms across his chest and studied Pete a moment before exhaling and saying something a little too easygoing despite the heavy tension he filled the air with, "You're probably wondering why I dragged you out here, huh? Especially on a Saturday--"

it's a sad thing, this sort of surprise that filled her initially the moment that both peter and steph and moved in to check in on her. of course, now they are all best friends, they have each other's back and share one great big wonderful secret. given what has been happening, boys from their year going missing, of course friends would check in on each other, especially with what they are going through, yet grace had not expected- or worse, grace hasn't been thinking too much about them at all. she's far too busy for that, but it does have this sort of guilt filling her for the briefest of moment, should she be there more for them? should she be doing something more, better? the thoughts echo inside of her head relentlessly as she pushes her bike towards her house, not riding it but holding onto the handles as she tries to think. the last thing she expects is the sudden, familiar voice comes into her head, her eyes searching to try to find him and her shoulders tensing before relaxing.

He felt the hand grab at the folder, but he knew the kid wouldn't pull it out of the investigator's hand. He wanted the information, but surely he was just as anxious to know what laid in the manila colored paper. Its contents held his whole world from the sounds and looks of it when they last met, Ethan making it clear with what money he could get together what he'd wanted... needed. Lex and Hannah Foster. He had to know where they were and Malone was going to find out-- well, sort of. See, Malone was a down to the truth kind of guy but you had to be able to afford the truth and Ethan? He could only afford some of that truth.

Didn't stop Malone from finding out the full of it though. Not that he put that in the folder, no. Ethan had to be able to afford that information, but what he had? Now that was a better start than Ethan could ever manage on his own. Malone may be a crook at this, but he's good at his job and he's going to make damn sure he solves a case worth the attention. And when he went digging for the Foster sisters? Oh he learned a great deal.

A sigh and he pulled the folder from Ethan's grasp, shifting it to his opposite hand further from the other. He opened his dark hues and lifted his head, turning it to look at him, "Say, what's with the underground fighter shit? Made these kids sound like uh.. what are they called? The Y-Men? No-- nno. X-Men."

At the sound of his best friend’s words, the sip of water Richie took from his glass immediately went flying. Never had he been more thankful that Pete’s older brother was at work. And never had he been more thankful that it was just the two of them hanging out. Letting out a surprised “Nani?!”, Richie looked back at Pete, trying to hide the blush that was slowly beginning to creep up onto his cheeks. Had he even heard Pete correctly? Or was he just hearing what he wanted to hear? “I–uh–thanks?” He managed to sputter out. “Your shirt’s nice too.”
