I mean, I don’t mind, I’ve still been doing my research with Dialga for Mom, and you guys are just doing your own thing. It’s just a  bit funny how it all happened.

Bonnie is a six-year-old girl with great energy, she loves to run around and challenge the trainers to battles.

Her great companion is his Togepi, whom she calls Togepipi. She doesn't usually leave her town much, but when she does, he goes to play with Star, Ciro and Neon, because yes, this little ball of energy loves games.

Okay but like ‘canon’ relationships between characters in the Pokémon games/anime are pretty weird not because they're like, bad per se, but because it's either other people telling the two characters, who up to this point haven't had any romantic interactions, that they seem like a couple, one of the characters being implied to have a crush on the other while the other(usually the player character) just... doesn't comment either way, or both. Which is weird because when it comes to CotDs, or NPCs in a relationship, they're pretty cute, and most of the canon ships would work better as friendships(penguin, amour, heartsoul, fortune, etc.)

I, for one, would've either preferred no romantic subplots(espicially for the main characters), or a romantic subplot where they're both into each other.

heartsoulshipping: i could see them romantically or platonically! either way, ethan and lyra have the whole childhood friends thing going for them and clearly they're still very close throughout hgss so it adds an extra layer of sweetness to their interactions because. they grew up together! they know each other better than anyone else! if we're going with the assumption that lyra is the protag of hgss then i think she tries soooo many times to convince ethan to have a proper battle with her (since as the npc he mentions not only having his marill, but also a tauros, tangela, porygon and bulbasaur) but he's not big on it so he always manages to talk her into doing something equally fun with him instead (like the pokéathlon). it's a very funny energy surrounding them because she's The Champion and he is. fundamentally. in this scenario. Just Some Guy. they're super affectionate with each other and i think ethan would've personally given lyra an egg to hatch and raise (it turned out to be a shiny).

fortuneshipping: it's not something i think about much but i could definitely see them going either romantically or platonically as well! it has a similar energy to heartsoul where dawn is The Champion and lucas is Just Some Guy (as the protagonist and npc respectively) that adds a funny little flavor to it even though they're not childhood friends like she and barry are. i think since lucas was the one to teach her how to properly catch pokémon dawn would go to him often if she had questions about anything and lucas would always do his best to answer! and he likes to give her things whether it's potions/poké balls to aid her on her journey or a dawn stone he found while traveling because it looked pretty and the name made him think of her. i think they'd be very sweet to each other! a cute future professor/champion couple.
