Caitriona Balfe and Mark Jeary in "Outlander (2014) The search
S1E14
Ian has survived the ambush and has returned to Lallybroch telling Claire that Jamie has been taken prisoner by the British. She and Jenny set out to find him and soon come across the British patrol. They quickly spot Taran MacQuarrie but there's no sign of Jamie. They intercept a British courier and learn that Jamie has in fact escaped. While Jenny returns home to care for her newborn, Claire is joined by Murtagh Fraser and they set off in search of Jamie. Murtagh's approach is to let their presence be known and once Jamie hears they are about, he will contact them. He presses Claire to sing in pubs - she uses a very modern melody - but contact is slow in coming. When she does finally get the long-awaited message, it turns out to be from Dougal MacKenzie and he has bad news - Jamie has been caught and is being held in Wentworth prison.

of love & destiny || zuko
can be read alone, or a part of this series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Would you care to hear your fortune handsome?" You heard what sounded like an old woman saying as you were squished between Iroh and Zuko on the adorable yet deadly shirshu.
Your eyes lit up at the words as you nudge your head to the side to catch a glimpse of her.
"At my age there is only one big surprise left," Iroh responded.
"And I would just as soon leave it a mystery," he ended poetically, and although beautiful you didn't share the same sentiment.
Before you all could go bounding off you began waving your hands theatrically from behind the older man.
"I'd like to hear about my fortune!" You said, catching the older woman's attention, as well as the attention of the boy behind you.
As if it's ever left you.
Zuko scoffed at your words. "We have no time for stopovers."
At that a pout played on your lips, a pout the black haired boy couldn't see, but could definitely feel with how your shoulders slumped ever so slightly.
He was so close to bending to your will, but June saved him the embarrassment.
"Actually, Nayla does need a break. Her sense of smell gets weak when she's hungry." The bounty hunter spoke, already hopping off her shirshu, leaving no room for protest.
"See, we have more than enough time," you said, your mood changing almost immediately. And Zuko scoffed to cover up a sigh.
"Fine," was all he could say.
You then cheered, jumping off of the animal to pet her.
"Thank you Nayla," you smiled, patting her side and she let out a huff as if to say thank you.
With that you turned to the fortune teller who greeted you all earlier.
"I'd love to have my fortune read if that's okay with you Ma'am," you smiled at her, raising your hands at chest level and giving her a bow.
"Why of course, young one," she smiled and bowed back.
"And please call me Aunt Wu," she said, before turning towards Zuko.
"How about your friend ponytail over there?"
Zuko scoffed at this, crossing his arms and looking away.
"I don't waste my time with something as trivial as fortune telling."
This had you gasping.
"Zuko, don't be rude," you scolded, slapping the back of his head.
"Don't mind him, he's just not as spiritually inclined as I," you quickly bowed to Aunt Wu in an apology while he nursed the back of his head, looking at you with a glare.
"I see that now," Aunt Wu nodded, giving Zuko an unimpressed look before turning to smile at you once more.
"Well come along," she beckoned you towards her.
You gave Zuko one last look of disappointment before walking away, not feeling his eyes following your figure as you did.
You followed Aunt Wu to a large wooden building, and into a dimly lit room with an elegant table in the middle with two plush pillows on either side.
"Wow, this place is so spiritual," you said for lack of a better term, eyes flicking between the various knick-knacks scattered around the room.
"That it is," Aunt Wu chuckled at your amazement, gesturing you to sit as you did.
"What type of incense would you like dear?" She asked once you were both settled.
"Ooh, Jasmine please," you answered after skimming through her selection.
"Jasmine," she hummed, giving you a teasing look. " I see that someone would like a love reading."
"Heh, I would if you don't mind," your cheeks heated up as the scent of Jasmine filled the room.
You have read many books of fortune tellers and how they may help lead you to your true love.
But you also read they could help you when you were lost.
Clearing your throat, you composed yourself for a moment.
"But, I would like another thing read first," you gave her an almost pleading look. And she understood immediately what you meant as she held out her hand.
"Very well, your palm please."
You placed your right hand in her slightly softer one, despite you being the younger party.
You almost stiffened as she ran her fingers along your palms, especially when her fingers grazed the many calluses and scars that had made their home on you.
But you quickly calmed yourself, reminding yourself that this woman meant no harm.
"What would you like to know?" Aunt Wu then asked, pulling you out of your thoughts, which you were ever grateful for.
You took a second to compose yourself with a slow sigh, and she gave a small smile of support.
"I'm very far from home as you can see," you began, gesturing to your crimson and gold armour that you hated in comparison to your flowy robes.
"And I want to know if I can ever go back," you ended, looking Aunt Wu deep in the eyes, almost begging for an answer.
And answer she did.
"Indeed you are far from home," her fingers continued to trail across your hand.
"On mission no less. But your mission is different from the one you have even assigned with," she went on before giving you a look.
"Ponytail, I presume," she quirked a teasing brow and you felt yourself easing up a bit.
"Zuko, yes," you nodded, remembering the promise you made to his mother all those years ago.
The older woman continued her movements across your hands.
"You both have suffered so much," she lamented, and your mood soured once more as you felt the scar on your shoulder sear as if it was new.
"You have both suffered alone and for each other, and you both miss home dearly," Aunt Wu's tone became solemn as she locked eyes with you again.
"But you already know that," she said and you could only nod, your throat becoming drier by the second.
"To answer your question," she said, with a sigh, making you lean towards her.
"Even the spirits have no clear answer."
This had you scrunching your eyebrows, your stomach churning at her words.
"What does that mean?" You questioned, voice becoming agitated.
"Nothing negative dear, don't fret," she tapped your palm gently, noticing how the candles in the room seemed to grow in flame.
"Just because there is no clear answer, doesn't mean there's no answer at all. On your way home, you'll be approaching a crossroad. A crossroad of destiny, and your choice there will determine whether or not you go home," she explained, and your brows only scrunched more.
"A crossroads of destiny," you repeated under your breath.
"But what if I pick the wrong choice?"
"There are no wrong choices, only your choice," Aunt Wu answered.
"But how will I know what I choose?" You asked again, your voice raising, the flames in the room doing the same.
"What if I never get home?"
"Calm down now," she tapped your palm again, eyes cautiously glancing at the growing flames.
You noticed this and immediately took a deep breath, just as Iroh taught you.
"I'm sorry," you say as the flames begin to calm down.
"It's quite alright," she comforted.
"Not many take to their fortunes kindly, and not to worry, the spirits say more."
You nodded for her to go on.
"The choice is already deep in your heart, and it will reveal itself once you are ready," she explained.
"And as for getting home. Home is not a constant my child."
This had you scrunching your eyebrows again.
"What?"
"Home is what we believe it to be," she answered
"And our beliefs can change overtime. So in a way, you'll reach home no matter what path you choose. It is just a question of what is your home when the time comes and if what you consider home now will remain in the future."
This had your eyes softening. You never thought of it like that. But a question fell off your tongue at her words.
"But will I be happy? With my choice I mean." You almost whispered.
"Not in the beginning, but you will be," she said simply.
"I see," you nodded, finding interest in your lap before your thoughts found their way once again towards the boy who also yearned for home.
"But what about Zuko?" You asked. "Will he be able to go home?"
"That I cannot answer," Aunt Wu shook her head.
"He must be here for me to read his fortune."
"Oh." You said, tone the most solemn it has been.
This did not go unnoticed by the wise woman.
"What I can say however, is that with someone like you on his side, he'll surely find his way," she said with a smile, turning your hand over to grasp it, soft, yet firm.
"Thank you, thank you so much," you finally returned her smile, albeit a bit forced after all you heard.
"It is nothing, I am only doing my job," her smile grew.
"What about that love reading?" She then asked to try to lighten the mood further.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that," you said, making her chuckle.
"Give me your left hand, it is where your love line is." She gestured, and you placed your left hand in hers.
She took her time tracing the lines this time, and as she did you tried to calm yourself more.
The prospect of a love reading was definitely helpful, although you hated the idea of marriage in the traditional sense. Thoughts of love have always warmed you like no other.
"Oh, the answers are very clear here," Aunt Wu said, pulling you out of your thoughts.
"Your path towards love will be a difficult one, but once you reach it, it will be nothing but everything you've dreamed it to be."
This piqued your interest.
"When will I meet him?"
"You mean you don't know who he is yet?" She quirked a brow.
"Should I?" You returned her confused tone.
Surely you'd know if you've already met the love of your life
"Well, he will be a powerful bender, a fighter with both strength and heart," she described.
"A bit stubborn, but your stubbornness will balance him out well enough," you both chuckled.
"It will be a great love, one that will be spoken about in centuries to come. But the greatness will come with a price of course," her tone darkened a bit as did your gaze.
Why did bad things always happen to you?
"As I said, the way to your love will be filled with sadness, even darkness," Aunt Wu went on.
"A great conflict will arise before you can reach him. But after all that, it would have been worth it."
What was it with your life and conflicts?
"But who?" You asked again, wanting so badly to know your future husband.
All Aunt Wu did was chuckle.
"The thing about being a fortune teller is to not reveal everything at once," She turned your hand over and clasped it in both her hands.
"You will know who he is soon enough."
She gave you a wink.
"Please, I really want to know," you begged again.
"The time will come beautiful one, I don't want to spoil the surprise."
She then stood up, leading you up with her, leaving no room for questions.
"Alright," you finally relented, albeit forcefully.
"Thank you so much for the reading."
"It was a pleasure."
With that, she led you back to the town square where Iroh and Zuko were already waiting.
"Thank you again Aunt Wu," you finally let go of her hand and bowed at the fortune teller one final time.
"It's no problem," she bowed back.
"I wish you nothing but the best on your journey."
You quietly watched Aunt Wu leave, head filled with thought of your upcoming crossroads of destiny, and your seemingly almost impossible love. It was only when someone tapped your shoulder where you were finally brought back to reality.
"Here, it's getting really hot," you turned to see Zuko, who had a canteen of water in his hand.
"Thank you," you said, your smile only becoming wider as you took a sip and handed the canteen to Zuko who promptly put it away.
He looked at you for a second, taking in your slightly off expression. He couldn't quite  put his finger on what you were feeling, but he knew it wasn't good.
"What was that all about?" He asked, now trying to coax it out of you.
"Oh nothing," you brushed him off, giving him a smile that you didn't know made him melt.
You were always so good at masking your emotions, as evidenced by Iroh's interest in your conversation.
"By the looks of it someone just got a love reading," the older man said, moving to stand beside you.
"How can you tell?" You questioned, feeling slightly bashful now.
"Talks of love often leaves a glow on a person. And you're practically radiating right now," he commented, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder
"Well it was an amazing talk," you played into his words.
You were sure the so-called glow was frazzlement from your anticipation of a slightly disastrous yet rewarding future. But you had to admit, the prospect of such a great love left you swooning a bit.
Iroh's eyes told you to say more, and you did.
"Aunt Wu said I'd marry a strong and powerful bender, and that he'd be everything I've wanted and more," you sighed dreamily, keeping out the part about the great conflict, and the other turmoil that came before it.
The older man echoed your dreamy sigh, while Zuko scoffed from your other side, making you turn to him.
"I didn't know you were so gullible."
"Excuse me?" You put your hands in your hips
"Fortune tellers are a scam, she probably just told you what you wanted to hear," he took your challenge, rolling his eyes
Oh, if he only knew.
Still, you decided to fight with him, as you always did.
"You're just jealous Zuzu," you rolled your eyes back, moving to pinch his cheek lightly as June and Nayla stalked the three of you.
Zuko had no time to protest your actions as June spoke.
"Come on, the sun will set in a few hours," She yelled, now perched upon on her steed, and you all scrambled to follow her.
Iroh got up first behind June, and before you could even raise your arms to hoist yourself up, Zuko pushed you out of the way.
"Let me," he said, holding out his hands as an invitation of help, and you couldn't help but tease him again.
"I didn't know you were such a gentleman."
"I'm not," he growled.
"I just don't want you to fall and cause another delay,"
It was your turn to scoff.
"I'm gonna pretend you never said that because I would like to accept your offer."
Zuko only rolled his eyes at your words, taking your waist in his hands so he could lift you upwards. He then quickly got behind you so as to not waste any time.
"If only my future husband would be as much of a gentleman as you Zuzu, I'd be the happiest girl in the world," you clasped your hands together and placed them against your cheek in an exaggerated swoon to annoy him.
And annoy him you did, so he spat back
"I pity the man who marries you."
You gasped, but before you could push back at him, your voice was pulled out of you by the sudden jolt that was Nayla bounding off.
You grasped at Iroh's robes In Front of you to keep from falling, and Zuko followed suit by wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you towards chest.
As you held on for dear life, you were left completely unaware of Zuko's reddening cheeks behind you.
And he was unaware of whether the heat radiating off of him was annoyance from your teasing, or jealousy towards your future husband.

Scum Villian Fic Recs
So, I've been reading fanfiction for a long ass time, longer than I've been on Tumblr and have always loved fic recs, and now I realize I can make my own(yay!), so here it is. None of these are explicit or anything, but they are super good.
A Transmigrator and a Time Traveler Walk Into The Bamboo House Summary:
Over a year after Shen Qingqiu's death, Luo Binghe consults his servant's servant, concurrently his disgraced martial uncle, for a way to bring the love of his life back. Shang Qinghua sends him in the direction of a certain time-traveling artifact, which supposedly brings one to the day they first met their soulmate. Odd, though, that the artifact ends up missing the destination by just a few years…
A story in which post-Abyss Luo Binghe relives his disciple days, while juggling his secrets, traumas, and some unexpected revelations about the man he loves on top of that.
Unveiling The Imposter Summary:
While tracking a suspicious fortune-teller, Shen Qingqiu falls unconscious. The fortune-teller extracts a glowing orb from his body, telling Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge that this Shen Qingqiu is an imposter, and they can see for themselves if they don't believe it.
Alternatively, the Demon Lord and Peak Lords watch Scum-Villain's Self-Saving System.
Characters Watch the Series fanfic. Post-Canon.
High Mountain, How I Long Summary: Shen Qingqiu, after enduring his trial, is placed into Luo Binghe’s custody at Huan Hua Palace.
meta madness Summary: Looking at SVSSS through the eyes of the universe left behind when Airplane and Cucumber died. (Note: Not a fic, but a series, but every fic in it is so good so definitely check it out.)
it's only shameless if you had any shame to loose in the first place Summary: They have not told anyone about their marriage, and at Shen Qingqiu's request, they will only do so once the wedding preparations are done. No one will have time to nag!
But in the meantime, Luo Binghe, demonic lord or not, is only an alpha. He must do something to show off his claim or he'll go insane, he really will. He'll qi deviate terribly, see if he won't.
Fortunately, as thin-faced as he is, his Shizun does not care much for proper dynamic etiquette...
love's worth running to Summary: “Shizun,” he purred, darkly calm despite the anger oozing out of his mock-respectful smile. Luo Binghe's grip on Xiu Ya's blade tightened, and he realised with belated horror that his blood was running down the sword and dripping by Shen Qingqiu's feet. His sword had to be held at an upwards angle now, to reach the place where he pierced him back then.
Shen Qingqiu felt sick. There was something wrong in this dream.
“I ask you again. Do you regret it, Shizun?”
//
Shen Qingqiu can't answer whether he regrets betraying him. Luo Binghe wants his Shizun to understand how he suffered, and drags Shen Qingqiu into his dreamscape of the Endless Abyss that night.
The only problem: Shen Qingqiu isn't waking up.
We Are Not Wise Summary:
When Shen Qingqiu drew Shen Yuan’s soul sword, it felt like being burned from the inside out. The fire wasn’t cruel, but it was still fire—hot and destructive, searing the softest pieces of him.
When Binghe’s fingers touch the hilt, he is ready for pain.
Transmigrated into a version of Proud Immortal Demon Way where cultivators manifest their own souls into spiritual weapons, Shen Yuan finds himself sort of kind of…accidentally blackmailing Shen Qingqiu into taking him on as a disciple before Luo Binghe joins the sect.
That should give Shen Yuan plenty of opportunities to make sure nothing goes wrong for his favorite protagonist, right? RIGHT!?
A story of twists, turns, hope, despair, and soul swords. Written for the Bingqiu Reverse Minibang 2023, illustrated and conceptualized by the incredible Suzu!
The Cultivating Force Summary: In which a Master and a Padawan run into a Shizun and a... Sith?
and judgement is just like a cup that we share Summary: The blob finished rotating into place in a way that wasn’t quite compatible with geometry as Shen Qingqiu understood it, and cleared a throat it didn’t seem to have.
“Greetings,” it said, somehow clearly addressing him in particular more than the room as a whole despite its total lack of features other than blueness and translucency. “I’m here on behalf of the Hyper-Celestial Peace and Order Enforcement Bureau. Crime scene secure, proceeding to interviews. Beginning with Subject One: You are Shen Qingqiu, formerly Shen Yuan, also known as Peerless Cucumber?”
"Proud Immortal Demon... Protection Squad?" Summary:
[ REWRITTEN 2023 ]
in which shen qingqiu, the nation's scum villain, doesn't perish from a qi deviation and instead, after dying tragically in his pathetic, sickly, 20 year-old body because he ate some definitely rotten yogurt he mistook for cream cheese like the absolute knob that he is, shen yuan wakes up to find himself in the body of a child, in the middle of a forest, and with absolutely no clue what world this shitty system had dropped him into. he decides to just go with the flow, one step at a time.
what could possibly go wrong?
(the answer is: everything)
(Shen Yuan Might Die Often but His) Old Habits Die Hard Summary: When Luo Binghe asks about his spiritual veins in the Holy Mausoleum, Shen Yuan's chest feels so funny that a lifetime of being chronically ill and reassuring his loved ones that, actually, he's fine kicks in. It is fine, really, because every problem in Airplane-bro's world can be solved by something that's penciled regularly into Shen Yuan's schedule at least eight times a week now.
Except the cure for Without a Cure doesn't work, and Shen Yuan's unlucky enough that Airplane-bro's plot device for winning over a tsundere via 'walking a mile in each others' bodies' hits him before he can figure out an alternative to telling Binghe that actually his five years of rebuilding Shen Qingqiu's spiritual veins diligently failed to cure him.
Luo Binghe is, of course, less than impressed to discover through personal experience what Shen Yuan, with his pain scale so skewed by years of chronic pain, never did during all his time poisoned: that, actually, having spiritual energy forming blockages and blood stagnating in your body hurts like hell.
Anyway, that's all that I've got for now. I hope that if you do take my recs you enjoy them, and remember to read all of the tags. Have fun reading!

One thing I don't get in anti-kataang discourse is when people say that the plot point of them getting together at the end came out of nowhere because katara only treated aang like her brother/child. I'm sorry, I must have hallucinated katara's realization of aang as a potential future husband in the fortune teller, her being flustered about kissing him in the cave of two lovers, the looks they share in the headband and their dance, the multiple cheek kisses she gives him of her own accord throughout the series, the blushing, the way she holds him, the way she leans into the kiss he gives her on the day of black sun.
You get my point. I think too often people equate characters' onscreen chemistry, which is pretty subjective, to actual plot set-up. The romance between aang and katara was well set-up from episode 1 by the writers, but some viewers do not think they have good chemistry and so are surprised by the fact that she chooses him in the end instead of their fave.
Your mileage my vary on aang and katara's romantic chemistry, but you really can't deny that the set-ups were there. Something something the death of media literacy.

Chapter 10
A few hours before the ceremony,
You looked at the dress you wore strangely, it definitely wasn't bad but you weren't happy.
''You look beautiful, my lady.'' A servant who had helped you get dressed constantly praised you, saying how beautiful you looked wearing that red dress. You thanked her and sat down on the cot when she left the tent.
You took a deep breath, trying to calm the panic that was building in your body. You placed your hand on your chest and felt your heart beating incessantly, you tried to take a deep breath and count to ten.
''Are you well?''
You looked up quickly when a deep, calm voice reached your ears. You frowned a little when you noticed it was Hephaestion. Your mouth went dry and your hands started to sweat.
''Y-Yes...'' You cursed yourself for stuttering. You straightened your posture and forced a smile at the general. He looked at you strangely but didn't comment on your clear nervousness.
''May I?'' He pointed to a chair next to your cot and you nodded. He sat down gracefully and smiled at you, but there was something about him that also made you sad.
''Are you okay?'' You asked softly.
He didn't say anything for a few minutes and just stared at the ground with a blank expression. You felt a little bad about his melancholy and it was obvious it was about your wedding.
Well, then there were three of you. You, Perdiccas and Hephaestion.
''You look very beautiful.'' He said suddenly, looking at you intently. You blushed a little at his gaze on you. Hephaestion was a very attractive man.
''Thank you, General.''
He smiled, ''No need to be formal, anyway, I will be the one who will have to be formal to you. You will be my Queen.''
The word ''Queen'' threatened to make you weak in the knees.
''Yeah...'' That was the only thing you said.
Hephaestion continued looking at you for a few more seconds and then looked away, ''I can understand why Alexander chose you to be his wife.''
You raised your eyebrow, confused.
''There's something about you that I don't understand, (Y/N).'' He said and you felt your heart speed up even more at his words, ''Something... Mythical, I would say.''
''Is there?'' You whispered. There was no way he could have known, was there?
''Yes... I just don't know what it is, but there is something about you that attracts people.'' You mentally scoffed at his words, only if it was some kind of witchcraft. Maybe going to that fortune teller with May last month was a big mistake.
''Ah, I...'' You didn't know what to say, so you decided to change the subject quickly, ''How are you with the wedding story about Alexander and me?''
Hephaestion frowned and looked at you, ''What do you mean?''
You swallowed hard, ''Well, you know... You and Alexander are-''
''Alexander and I are?'' You felt like you had shot yourself in the foot with the harshness of the general's words.
''Uh... Gays?'' You whispered the last part and Hephaestion stared at you with confusion. Oh, right, that term didn't exist.
''Gays?'''
You felt like laughing at his confusion, ''Don't get me wrong! I fully support the LGBT people and same-sex marriage-''
For the love of god, (Y/N), you should shut up while you still can.
Hephaestion stood up quickly and looked at you with surprise, ''How so?''
''Look, if you think-'' You tried to reason but he seemed too incredulous to listen to you.
''Alexander and I are not together! That's it-''
''Beautiful?'' He looked at you and you flinched at the anger present in his eyes.
''Absurd!''
You made a strange sound with your mouth, as if you were disapproving of him, ''No need to be offended.''
''I'm not offended.'' You looked at him as if to say, ''Really bitch?'' with your eyes.
You decided to apologize quickly, wanting as much as possible to avoid making enemies, especially if they were powerful, ''I'm sorry, okay? I didn't want to offend you or make you upset. My mistake.'' You breathed heavily and your shoulders slumped.
Hephaestion stared at you for a few seconds and sighed, ''It's me who should apologize for acting in such an... Improper way.''
''Are we even then?'' You smiled at him and Hephaestion couldn't help but smile back.
''We are.''
Hephaestion seemed calmer and smiled at you, he lowered his head and left your tent without saying anything. You sighed heavily and sat down on the cot.
Tumblr media
You slowly entered the King's tent where your marriage would be consummated, your legs weak and your heart beating painfully in your chest. You tried to take a deep breath.
You looked around and nothing had changed since your last entry here, maps and letters spread across a table and some chandeliers lighting up the room. You placed your hands on a chair and tried to remain calm, trying your best to fight the anxiety that threatened to eat you alive and the fear of what would inevitably happen.
The last thing you needed was to cry your eyes out, or maybe that was exactly what you needed.
''(Y/N)?'' You jumped when you heard Alexander's calm voice. He appeared with two glasses of wine in his hand and offered you one, you smiled weakly and accepted, drinking it greedily.
Alexander sat down on the chair and pulled out another, gesturing for you to sit, which you did. He knew you were nervous and scared and the last thing he wanted was to hurt you.
''No need to be afraid.'' He said softly, drinking some wine.
You mentally scoffed at his words. How could you not be afraid?
''I'm not scared.'' It was a lie, clearly. If terror had a smell it would be emanating from you right now.
''What's going to happen next is... Natural.'' Alexander shifted a little in his chair, uncomfortable.
''How so?'' You frowned and bit your bottom lip.
Alexander clutched the cup, "The consummation of our marriage."
You didn't say anything, just stared at him.
Alexander felt his face get hot, ''Y-You know what's going to happen, don't you?''
You continued to stare at him, pretending you didn't know anything.
Alexander coughed a little fakely, ''W-When a man and a woman get married, they-''
You started laughing loudly, not being able to hold back any longer. Your laughter could be heard throughout the tent and you had to hold on to the table to keep from falling.
Alexander looked at you like you were a lunatic. And maybe you were.
''I'm sorry, I can't hold back!'' You laughed more, feeling all your anxiety subside.
Alexander smiled at seeing you so happy and laughed along, although he didn't understand what had made you so hysterical. When you finally stopped laughing, he asked, ''What's so funny?''
You smiled widely, ''You.''
''Me?'' He asked, confused.
''Seeing you trying to explain to me what sex is is so-'' You held yourself back from laughing again. It was simply comical for you to deal with, everything that had happened was comical. You, in the past and married to one of the greatest conquerors in history and now about to lose your virginity to him.
Your life was a comedy. A pretty bad one, but one that might please some sadistic god.
''Did your mother teach you?'' Alexander decided to ask what was on his mind.
You looked at him from the corner of your eye and slowly nodded your head.
''I understand.'' Alexander smiled a little, ''You should know that I have no intention of hurting you.''
How did you hurt Cleitus? You wanted to say it out loud, but you knew it was a really bad idea.
''However, you must understand that consummation is necessary, not only to confirm our marriage but also so that I can have an heir.''
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, even though you already knew.
''I know.'' You whispered, defeated.
Alexander got up from the chair and stood behind you, placing his hand on your shoulder gently, ''I promise I will be as careful as possible.''
Alexander bent down to your ear and nibbled lightly, his large, scarred hands running up your right arm and reaching your shoulders, where he squeezed them gently, as if he was trying to calm you down.
You bit back a sob when you felt him undo the embellishment on your dress, leaving it loose and easy to remove.
"Do not be afraid." He murmured when he noticed your body goosebumps, "I promise to be gentle."
You closed your eyes and tried to dry the tears that threatened to fall. Alexander slowly and carefully removed your dress, first the top and when your breasts were visible, he urged you to take off the bottom. You carefully lifted one leg and then the other, your red dress finally on the floor of the tent.
"You are beautiful." He whispered as he contemplated the beauty of your nakedness. You were beautiful, just beautiful. Everything, your breasts, your belly, your hips, your legs, everything. Completely beautiful.
You smiled slightly at the compliment, but placed your hand under your stomach, feeling it lurch. You were so nervous you felt like throwing up.
Alexander brought his face closer to yours and caressed you with the back of his hand. You smiled and opened your eyes, taking in his soft face. So different from the man you had seen stabbing his own friend.
He held your hands and squeezed them gently and guided you backwards to the bed that was placed in the deepest part of the tent. You took a deep breath when he sat you down on the bed and looked at you standing up. Alexander placed his index finger on your chin and lifted it, looking into your face tenderly.
Alexander kissed your forehead affectionately and then kissed your right cheek. He pulled back a little and smiled, bringing your face closer to his again and capturing your lips in a shallow kiss.
Your lips fluttered when his made contact with yours, but you closed your eyes and let yourself be kissed. The kiss, initially superficial, became more passionate and Alexander devoured your mouth like a starving man, his lips next to yours with passion and lust. You could feel all his desire in the kiss.
Alexander gently pushed you against the cot, finally breaking the kiss. Your lips were slightly swollen and you looked at him with something more than fear. He smiled at that. Maybe you're finally starting to feel the same way he does.
You watched him avidly, trying to deny yourself that the kiss had awakened something in you. You were denying yourself that you wanted him. You pressed your thighs together and bit back a moan as your pussy throbbed.
Alexander quickly removed his clothes and you blushed when you saw him naked for the first time, his muscular and scarred body sending strange feelings through your body. You bit your lip when you noticed his visible erection.
Alexander smiled at you and he sat down on the cot, his hand touching your thigh gently and stroking it.
"You are ready?" He asked softly, taking in the way your skin was delicate and soft to his rough touch.
You frowned, ''Are you just going to enter me?''
His mouth went dry and he stared at you perplexed.
"You're not going to do anything else? No foreplay?!" You groaned and covered your breasts with your arm, suddenly feeling very exposed and intimidated.
"And isn't that what I'm supposed to do?" Alexander raised his eyebrows, pinching your thigh gently.
"No! Yes... Err... I mean, you can make this... More pleasurable for me." You blushed, and looked away.
"More pleasurable?" He looked at you, slightly confused.
"Yes! I-It's not just because it's my first time that means it has to suck." You argued. Alexander smiled and leaned into you and when he got close to your face, he kissed you quickly.
"And what do you want me to do, wife?" He murmured against your lips.
"Y-You could t-touch me..." You blushed and stuttered, feeling incredibly embarrassed.
Alexander looked at you, "Touch you?"
You waved and he smiled mischievously. You let out a cry of surprise when he suddenly opened your legs and brought his hand to your pussy and touched it gently. The cold touch of his hand against your intimate area sent goosebumps through you.
You were, surprisingly, wet.
"Do you want me to touch you here?"
You sighed and nodded, laying your head on the feather pillow and closing your eyes. Alexander touched your pussy timidly, not really knowing what he should do.
He felt the large, medium and small lips, touching each part of him in a slow and gentle way. You let out a low moan when Alexander accidentally touched your clit.
He looked at you in surprise, "Do you like it when I touch you here?" He circled your clit again and you moaned.
You bit your bottom lip and nodded, "Y-Yes..."
Alexander smiled mischievously and rubbed your clit with a little force, eliciting sighs and sly moans from you. He focused only on that pleasurable spot of yours, rubbing it hard.
You closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling of being touched. You could feel yourself getting wetter by the second and your arousal was growing. You bit your bottom lip and smiled widely as you felt your orgasm approaching.
"A-Alexander!" You moaned his name in warning and grabbed his arm tightly, encouraging him to keep touching you.
Alexander didn't stop, his fingers moving quickly and frantically, making you moan loudly. Your mouth opened in a perfect "O" as you came, your body shaking a little from the intensity.
You breathed heavily and opened your eyes, smiling at the feeling of relief your body released.
Alexander hesitantly removed his hand from your soaked pussy and looked at you, "I didn't know... You women could..."
You laughed softly and pressed your legs together, still panting, ''Yes, we can.''
Alexander smiled and got on top of you, his strong legs beside your thighs and his face close to yours. He rubbed his nose against yours and kissed your lips passionately. You wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him closer and kissing him back.
At this point, any hesitation you had was gone. All you wanted was him. Maybe it was the lust that consumed you or the effect of the huge amount of wine you had consumed that night, but you wanted him.
You wanted him.
When you separated, Alexander's different colored eyes sparkled as he looked at you. For your slightly sweaty face, unfocused look and swollen lips. You looked like a goddess.
His goddess. His wife. His Queen.
Alexander caressed his face and you leaned into his touch and closed your eyes. He smiled and gently parted your legs again and you blushed when he looked at his pussy.
"D-Don't look at me like that." You mumbled and looked away.
"Why not? You are beautiful. Magnificent." He murmured and kissed your neck, his hands squeezing your breast lightly. He pinched your nipple and you groaned.
"Magnificent?" You mumbled, feeling warm inside. No one had ever called you that before.
Alexander nodded, "Yes. Magnificent, beautiful, wonderful, my consort, my Queen, my wife."
You smiled at him. Alexander released your breast and cupped your thighs, spreading them a little wider for easy access. You took a deep breath, suddenly feeling a little anxious.
Alexander kissed your hand and rubbed it, positioning himself between your legs, his cock very close to your pussy.
"This might hurt a little." He murmured and released your hand, rubbing the tip of his cock at the entrance to your pussy. You moaned softly when he made contact with your stimulated clit.
You closed your eyes as Alexander began to thrust into you. You held your breath and felt a pain in your intimate part when he penetrated you completely, completely buried inside you.
The sensation you felt was uncomfortable to say the least, and incredibly painful. You had masturbated before, but nothing compared to actually having someone inside you. You dug your nails into Alexander's bare back, who held back a groan of pain as you scratched him.
"S-So tight!" He groaned, waiting for you to get used to it.
You were exhausted before you even started and you could tell Alexander felt the same.
His arms shook as he tried not to move so as not to hurt you. The pain you felt goes from burning to a little discomfort.
You opened your eyes and they were watering a little.
"You can move..." You inform him, somewhat numb.
"Are you sure?" Alexander asks and you nod, "I'll start slow."
The back and forth movements are slow, making you feel all of his fulfillment in your aching pussy. You closed and squeezed your legs with a few bites, not feeling as much pain and a little pleasure was starting to grow in your lower parts.
The pleasurable slowness lasted for a few more minutes and, although it sounded impossible and still had a small burning sensation, you could swear you felt your hips grow. Alexander also felt more comfortable and increased the movement in which he took you, stopping to worry a little about the little pain you felt. You moan and squeeze his arms, Alexander can't bear to look at you and kiss you hard, your tongues intertwining.
He pulls away and whispers, "I'm the happiest man in the world."
Alexander kisses your lips quickly and moves his mouth to your ear, whispering all the sinful thoughts he had had about you.
"W-We can try several things, I- Ah! Right there, Alexander!"
"Here?" He gives a hard thrust making you bite your tongue trying to hold back your moans.
"Right there! F-Faster, please!" You whimper.
Rapid movements emerge in an addictive crescendo. Your legs hug his waist, not allowing separation. His scarred hands pass over your back, bringing your bodies even closer together. Every time he fucked you sent waves of pleasure through your body, the pain forgotten.
"Oh!" You moan, tightening your grip on his arms as Alexander ravages you. He smiled mischievously and pressed your body against his, your breasts crushed against his chest.
Lust and delirium. Those were the words you were feeling at that moment.
You screamed his name loudly as you came again. Your body softened and you no longer felt your legs. Alexander tightens his abdomen and back with heavy breathing as her pussy squeezed him tightly.
"(Y/N)!" He moaned your name like a prayer when, after a few more thrusts, he finally came inside you, your pussy sucking up all of his cum.
Sweat drips onto his forehead as Alexander pulls out of himself with some difficulty. You weren't experienced and Alexander knew you couldn't handle a second round and, to be honest, neither could he.
You didn't say anything, you just lay side by side, satisfied and panting.
You felt tired and sleepy and, after Alexander pulled you into a hug and kissed your sweaty forehead, stroking your hair, you closed your eyes and quickly fell asleep.
It didn't take long for Alexander to be claimed by Hypnos and follow you to the world of dreams.

''You know it wasn't my choice!''
Perdiccas looked at you slightly irritated, his face red and his dark blue eyes shone with hatred and jealousy, ''Still!''
You bit your bottom lip, stopping yourself from swearing at him.
Perdiccas continued, ''It may not have been your choice, but you still have one.''
You laughed bitterly, ''Do I?''
He nodded furiously, ''Yes, you do.''
You shook your head and closed your eyes. Perdiccas approached you and held your hands, ''Come with me.''
''I can't.''
''Can't or don't want to?'' He growled, ''I can keep you protected!''
''No, you can't!'' You snapped and roughly pulled away from him, ''You can't. Alexander would always hunt us down and kill us! I can't risk our life.''
Perdiccas frowned, ''So you're choosing him?''
''No. I'm not choosing anyone but myself.''
Perdiccas turned his back on you and walked to the tent entrance, ''I won't lose you.''
Without you being able to answer him, he left the tent furious and you contained a groan of frustration.
You sat on the cot, arms around your knee. You needed help, you needed to leave. You had to leave. Maybe someone could help you. Maybe... You could ask a Persian, Darius, for help.
You knew that wasn't a wise idea. Had you lost your mind completely and decided to act on your emotion?
Perhaps.
But the truth was that you didn't know what else to do, not now when everything had already been done. With the marriage made and the consummation done, there was nothing left to be done. You desperately prayed that you weren't pregnant.
The idea of bringing a child into the world and even more into this world haunted you. You had thought about becoming a mother a few times, but you considered yourself too young and definitely didn't want to have children with Alexander. Not that there was much of a choice, though.
There were no contraceptives available that you would use like a modern person would, like condoms or pills. You didn't know about your fertility and you never tried to find out, it's not like you wanted to have a child.
But again, it wasn't his choice, not anymore. Just as marriage had technically been your choice, it had been Alexander's choice. The wedding night was the same, you never thought you would lose your virginity to Alexander.
You sighed and sank into the cot, feeling tired and drowsy, but you couldn't sleep. Your mind was being haunted by many things that had happened, both with Perdiccas and with the fact that you would soon go to Sogdian Rock. Alexander was already arranging everything and in a few days the camp would move and go there.
You weren't excited, not with everything that's going to happen. You feared for your own safety.
And you were more afraid that you were pregnant. To the gods, you prayed you weren't. Not only would it be dangerous for you but for this child and you didn't like thinking about a child living in such a hostile environment with potential threats to his or her life.
There was still a lot to consider and you wanted to go home even more after the events. You needed to go back, you couldn't keep changing the story and act like you didn't know anything. It was exhausting and only the gods knew how exhausted you were.
And there was still the matter of Perdiccas to consider. You groaned and buried your head in the pillow, wanting to disappear. Where were you in your head, honestly? Kissing him had been a mistake, you realized that quickly.
But you couldn't blame yourself, you had had a crisis and you had broken down, you needed comfort and he had offered you that. But now you realize that it wasn't a wise choice, not after the way he reacted after the wedding.
You closed your eyes tightly and sighed heavily. You needed to put an end to this story before it got out of hand.
Would your answer potentially lie with Darius? You weren't sure, but you were going to hope.
After all, hope was the last thing left in Pandora's box.

— lady l: Hello!! I know I'm late with this story, but I had several unforeseen events, I hope the length of this chapter makes up for it. What did Perdiccas do or will he do? I'll keep it a secret until chapter 11... I hope you liked it and forgive me for any mistakes! ❤️❤️

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're standing at the plank, back against the sea, tears streaming down your face. You refuse to look up at your lovers. There's a rollercoaster of emotions going on inside you, ranging from pain, hurt and betrayal to anger.
They chose her over you, believed her melodious and cunning lies, and expect you to apologize to her. You're not looking up but from under your eyes, you can see her figure cozying up next to Wooyoung's. He's telling her not to cry, wiping away those crocodile tears in contrast to your real ones.
Raw rage is slowly thrumming through your veins and resentment is coiling in your stomach as a vortex of anger gradually swirls inside. You've had enough honestly and you were no longer going to bend to anyone.
"Just apologize Y/N." Hongjoong remarks in a cold and distant voice.
His sword is right in front of you, barring you from getting off the plank.
"For what?" you respond icily,  "I've done nothing wrong."
Hongjoong grumbles under his breath and another person steps in, you recognize its Seonghwa by his boots.
"Please Y/N, don't be childish. Aera is younger than you, she needs us to look after her. You can't get jealous so easily."
Jealous. Such a funny word coming out of your lover's mouth. It's hypocritical rather, because your eight lovers lose it over the slightest glance someone casts in your direction.
You find it ridiculous.
The girl weasled her way onto the ship, and you had a bad feeling about it since day one. But you didn't think it would come to this.
Love. That's all you ever wanted, and you found it in these eight men, who you had been with since the age of 16. They loved you more than anything, at least, that's what they said.
The only thing you want more than anything right now is to go back and choose differently.
"I—" you declare, "I hope in my next life, true love finds me."
"Y/N what—" Yunho begins but you cut him off.
"I hope I meet someone who truly loves me and I hope it isn't any of you."
You raise your head and look at Hongjoong directly in his eyes. He's taken aback at that cold and empty look in yours. He can see the wheels turning in your head but he’s not sure what you’re planning.
"Traitor." You verbalize before running into his sword.
"NO!" All eight voices ring out.
Shouts and screams erupt from all eight men as your blood begins to stain Hongjoong’s sword.
"Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Hongjoong screams.
You pull away and stumble backward towards the edge. San tries to reach for you but you pull your hand away and fall into the sea.
You're thinking this is where your story ends but actually dear one, this is only the beginning.
-
You startle out of your trance. You're in the fortune teller's shop. Blinking around haphazardly, you try to zero-in on your surroundings. Memories flood into your mind as you recognize where you are. This is the shop you visited when you were in the town of Maverick - it would be a month before everything happens.
You're dumbstruck by what just happened. Just moments ago, you were on the plank, ran yourself into Hongjoong’s sword and fell into the cold raging sea. Now, sitting in front of you, the elderly tarot reader draws some cards and gives you a reading.
"You're in for a big change dearie. I see the wheel of fortune is in your favour but be warned, the justice card reversed suggests there is dishonesty somewhere. "
“And this one?” you ask, pointing to the death card.
“In its upright position, it reveals that beginnings and change is expected. You’re nearing the end of a cycle.”
You don't ask for a further explanation, you pay and leave, walking back to the tavern where the boys are currently in. But as you walk out the shop's door, it begins to rain.
No...
Immediately, memories rush into your mind as you recall the timeline of events. It will rain and then the dam that's near the town will break, unleashing a flood. Aera is already with you all, the boys bringing her back home to her father after she got herself caught up with some misfits. But when the flood hits, everyone will scamper and she will come back with you all, joining the crew and then ruining everything you had with the boys.
Reaching the tavern, you watch from outside: all the boys are sitting around a table while Aera's father brings another round of drinks, and says something to Hongjoong. Aera stands at the far back of the room but you can tell there is something on her mind, that dubious and suspicious glint in her eyes. Her father walks back, she asks him something and then he scolds her before walking away. She balls her fists but then regains her composure before hopping over to your boys.
Previously, none of this had happened, as far as you remembered. After visiting the tarot reader, you waltzed into the tavern, pecked San and Jongho on the cheeks before placing yourself next to Yeosang who drew you closer to sit on his lap, his arm around you bringing you in closer. Aera did not come and sit with you all.
This time you hesitate entering the tavern, wondering if wandering around, accidentally getting lost or going the other way would be better.
Love. That's all you ever wanted and you thought it would be with these eight boys. Now, you weren't so sure.
Little did you know, this moment of hesitation will change the course of your life. As you continue to think about your next course of action, a figure runs into you, bringing you down with him.
"What the—" Before you can even question, the figure jolts up, ready to run again. But you're quick on your feet too, and you grab the person by their wrist.
"Now wait a minute Mister," you begin but you're cut off by shrill shouts.
"There he is! Get him!"
You turn to the voices but before you can look at the person, he grabs your hand and pulls you with him.
You have no idea why you're even running with him. You're strong enough to break free and go your merry way but as you study his back, you're intrigued — this black hair guy has a pretty feathered twist in his hair and silver dangle earrings. Something about him entices you.
He leads you down an alleyway, over a wall and then into an open field. The next thing you knew, you are on top of a hill that overlooks the town. He brings you behind a tree and you rest against the bark, trying to regulate your breath. The stranger crouches down attempting to do the same.
"You're insane." You remark.
"Yeah well, you were slowing me down so I had to bring you with me if I wanted to get away."
He doesn’t seem dangerous but rather, very amiable. The rain has stopped and there is only a slight drizzle, but from on top of the hill, you can see the dam that’s about to burst.
"No...the dam..." you mutter in-between breaths.
The stranger turns to the dam’s direction and his eyes widen. The dam erupts and rains down like a waterfall. You watch in fear and fright at the sight and your mind races to the boys, but deep down you know that they'll escape.
But this time, you're not with them. You're with this stranger, now apart from them.
"Hey are you okay?"
There's a wave of emotions and you feel yourself spiralling into panic. Your heart pounds in your chest and a familiar grip of fear tightens your chest, each breath of yours shallower than the last. Suddenly, the stranger holds you gently, looking at you with a reassuring calmness.
"Hey, don’t look there, look at me okay? Deep breaths, you can do it, take your time and follow me."
You do as you're told, the stranger running soothing circles on your forearms provides a sense of comfort and relief, and after a few minutes you finally compose yourself, staring out at the now submerged town. It's heartbreaking.
"Where are you going to go?" he asks.
"I don't know." You answer.
The stranger hums and thinks for a minute before getting up and stretching out his hand for yours.
"Let's get going together then."
You're taken aback by his boldness but fascinated and captivated at the same time.
"I don't even know your name." you voice out.
He helps you up and gives you a polite smile, one that is soft and heartfelt.
"Yoonghoon. My name is Kim Yoonghoon."
