kajlf;ksd I have come up with another head canon for Raven von Vestra. While her preferred science is experimenting with stuff, she does rather enjoy biology, specifically animals and plants. She would constantly sit outside and draw birds and plants. She would often cut open plants to see what she could find in them. Raven would, ethically, do the same to animals. Because of her, she helped make life easier for a lot of people and animals for Fodlan, especially the people living Faerghus. Also, generations of people would look to her texts for reference and guidance.

The Song of the Fabled Forest
Elara, captivated by the ethereal beauty of Melodia, decided that the best way to approach the mythical creature was through the universal language of music. #readingcommunity #writerslift #fantasy
In the enchanted realm of Umbrafell, nestled between the towering mountains and the vast seas, there existed a place known as the Fabled Forest. It was said that the forest held secrets and magic beyond imagination, protected by a mythical creature named Melodia. Few had ventured into the heart of the forest, and even fewer had returned to share their tales. Elara, a young and talented bard, had…

Hopelessness began to sink into your bones the further you ran. You were going nowhere, so desperately lost within the consuming blackness of the night. The full moon did little to aid your sight. The lush canopy of trees obstructed it’s light, only giving you speckles of light to guide your path. You inwardly cursed yourself for sneaking out of Rainhallow this late, and especially on this night of all nights. The full moon meant trouble; no one from your village ever stepped foot into the woods during this moon cycle. But you did. And as you ran helplessly through the trees, you realized with a heart full of dread that this one stupid decision would inevitably be your last.
You came to a halt, chest rising and falling with frantic breaths, your legs screaming with pain from carrying you for so long. You found a tree at your side to bear your weight against, and it was only then did you realize how tired you truly were. Your dress was in tethers, the rugged forest floor having ripped away at it, leaving it dirty and torn. Your mind raced in attempt to figure out a solution, some way of finding your way back to Rainhallow. You had never snuck this far out of the village, leaving you with no understanding of the terrain you currently found yourself in. You thought of your older brother, Theo, and wondered if he was looking for you. You could only imagine how much he was fretting, and how angry he must have been at you for sneaking away again. Tears welled in your eyes as you thought over him, over how you wouldn’t be able to say farewell to him; how he would lose you much like how you both lost your parents many years ago. A sudden loss with no opportunity to say goodbye.
There was a resounding crack of a fallen tree limb somewhere behind you, and your skin prickled with fear. You started in a run, your exhausted and over used legs moving sluggishly underneath you. You willed yourself to move despite the pain and the hollowness in your lungs. You didn’t know where to go, all you knew was that you needed to stay away from whatever was assailing you. You were unsure of how much more your body would manage. You could tell you were beginning to lose momentum. You navigated blindly through the thick, dark forest while whatever was behind you quickly drew closer. There was only so much more distance your body allowed you to cross before you began to stumble over your own feet. In the obsidian that stretched before you there was a break in the ground, a small cliff that you were unable to notice before your body was sent flying off the edge.
You collided with the unforgiving ground and the impact knocked the air out of your lungs, rendering you helpless. There was a sharp pain in your thigh accompanied by a hot, sticky sensation. There was no way you could have seen through the dark to understand what it was, so you relied on your hand to dig under your dress to feel. You cried out when your hand came in contact with what only could have been a stick that must have plunged into your flesh during the descent. The warmth of your blood poured from the wound, making you curse aloud. You remained there with no strength to pick yourself up, any bit of energy your body had already having been drained from you. Before you could even process what was happening, there was a tall, ominous figure that stood above you. You were met with a sight that instilled fear in your heart and dread in your veins.
Red eyes peered down at you. They glowed bright in the darkness, illuminating the being’s face to show his sickening grin. He looked every bit a predator, and every bit like a vampire. “What is a lady like you doing out so late, hm? The forest is no place for a human to be all alone, especially during a full moon. There’s monsters in these parts, you know.”
You used what little energy you could muster to scramble backwards in an attempt to flee, but he was too quick, and you were too powerless. His large hand encompassed your throat and swiftly you were pulled off the ground to dangle in the air like nothing more than a rag doll. You struggled to free yourself, but to no avail.
“You’re a pretty little thing,” he said while inhaling deeply. “You smell delightful. I cannot wait to feast on you, my dear.” His fangs glimmered in the moonlight, and you fought with all your might as he lowered you down closer to them. But before he could sink his teeth into you, he cried out in agony, causing you to suddenly fall out of his grasp and onto the forest floor.
You groaned as you landed on your injured leg, the pain shooting down the length of your limb. Your head jerked upwards just in time for you to catch the sight of the vampire standing rigid, agony frozen on his features. You gasped when your eyes lowered to his chest to find the most gruesome sight. A hand protruded from his torso and within it rested his lifeless heart. You watched the way the hand jerked itself out from the vampire, and before you could even manage a scream, his head was torn from his shoulders. His body fell to the ground, lifeless and unmoving. Another ominous figure materialized from behind him, and when he stepped into the moonlight, your breath caught in your throat. He was more intimidating than the previous, standing much taller and larger.
“P-please, stay back!” You knew your pleas were useless. There was nothing you could have done. There was nothing that could’ve saved you from your certain demise. You held your breath when he stood above you, his eyes a fiery red and making every muscle in your body stiff with fear. You reflexively shut your eyes as he inclined towards you. Just when you expected the sting of his fangs, you were met with his arms around you instead. You yelped when he suddenly swept you off the ground and into his arms. He held you as if you weighed nothing, and your squirming to free yourself did nothing to affect him. “Put me down!”
He said nothing and turned to begin walking through the forest in the direction you had come from. Your body was tired, and your wound was bleeding too fast. Eventually you resigned yourself to whatever fate lied ahead for you, your head resting against the monster’s chest. He held you carefully as he traveled through the darkness with ease. As time went on, you began to feel less afraid. Maybe it was the loss of blood and the shock of everything that had just happened, but for some odd reason you found yourself losing hold of the fear from earlier. You grew even more confused over what this vampire’s intentions with you could’ve been, but your brain was too foggy to think for too long.
You were on the brink of unconsciousness when the forest suddenly opened, giving way to allow you to take in the familiar sight of Rainhallow. Home. The vampire had taken you home. You heard the dulled sounds of the guards that stood post at the village gates, but you paid no mind to their shouts nor to the way they began to rush towards you. You stared up at the man-like being, enraptured by his otherworldly appearance and his lack of concern for the guards ahead. He stopped and leaned down to gently deposit you onto the ground. He eyed your wound, but gave it no more attention. His eyes found yours, and in that moment your heart stopped. You didn’t know how much time passed between you, but the loud footsteps of the guards broke his gaze from yours. Without another look back or even a word uttered, he ran away back into the forest, leaving you bewildered.
The guards were swift to tend to you, lifting you and carrying you into the village. They were urgent to get you to Theo who had undoubtedly assumed the worst at that point. Your brother’s relief was quick to fade into anger at you, but despite his shouts in your ear all you were concerned about was him, the vampire who had just saved your life. You withheld that information from your brother, even after all of his pestering questions. But deep in your heart you’d never forget his face and what he did for you.
You would always remember him.
To be continued…

How the princes plus Lance, Lou, and Dia are in bed.
Guy
Most definitely silently moans and grunts while degrading you every here and there.
Prefers to be intimate in the missionary and lotus position.
He would probably be intimate almost anywhere if you are able to convince him to do so.
Last for about 3 rounds maximum.
Fenn
How loud his moans are tend to vary on the location, per say either of your bed chambers. He will most likely let out moans loud enough for the entire academy to hear.
Loves to be intimate at any chance given despite the location.
Loves the missionary and cowgirl position but still does the other positions.
5 rounds maximum.
Toa
Praises you most of the time during your intimate session while letting out moans here and there.
Prefers to be intimate in the bedchambers so that no one can see how good he makes you and how intimate he can be.
Missionary position most of the time or cow girl if he is too tired.
2 rounds at best.
Roy
He is a praise machine.
Prefers locations that are private whether it be that bath tub or the S-rank dining hall during lectures.
Cow girl and doggy style positions are his favorite of them all.
About 4 rounds.
Lynnt
Silent moans and whimpers.
Either of your bedchambers, bathrooms or somewhere that he can lay down and sleep afterwards
Cow girl or reverse cowgirl position.
1 or 2 rounds depending on his drive during that day.
Rio
Praises, moans and whimpers the whole time.
His bedchambers or the dining hall.
All positions.
6 rounds maximum.
Aquia(? Aquawei? He is Guy's younger brother.)
Whimpers and cries. (He is crying due to sensitivity as he is sensitive.)
Always in his or your bedchambers.
Cow girl position.
2 rounds maximum.
Lance
Grunts.
Doesn't care about the location, just as long as he gets to be intimate with you.
Doggy style position.
3 rounds.
Dia
Volume of his moans vary on the location.
Missionary, lotus and 69 positions.
Mostly his bedchambers or in the forest.
4 rounds.
Lou
Moans, grunt, whimpers, cries (sometimes) all of it.
Doesn't care at all.
He's the headmaster, what are the students going to do if you both are being intimate in the garden? Or the library?
Due to his high magic capacity. He can go for more than 5 rounds. 7 rounds maximum.

ID under the cut
[Start ID: Four page traditional comic. The first is the cover , which depicts a blue phone with a glitches out screen that reads Echo in a holographic blocky font.
The first page consists of 10 panels, done only in blue tones. Panel one shows Op's character Fenn , sitting on the floor of a technological forest, checking their phone. Fenn is a young adult man with a blue jacket with a high collar with stripes on the sleeves. He wears a pair of blue headphones that have sharp pointy ear like attachments on top. There are TVs, computers and wires scattered about in the forest. Next is a series of five small panels alternating between Fenns face and his phone. Each panel progressively gets closer to his face. The fourth panel is a close up of the phone which shows a messaging screen to someone named coda. Fenn has sent a series of messages with no reply. The next three panels Fenn throws the phone at a tree , and as it lands the phone begins to glitch wildly. The final panel on the page depicts a large monster coming out of the glitches fog and looming over the phone. The monster is a quadraped mixture of a deer , dog and lizard , and has two large spike like ears coming off of its head. It has metal bands on its neck tail and legs. It has one ring like eye in the center of its head.
The second page of the comic has 8 panels, with a split between blue and red tones. The first three panels done in blue, show Fenn slowly breaking down and hugging his chest ti his knees as the glitch cloud gets closer to him. A glitchy shaped panel shows Fenn's eyes closed and crying.. this panel is split in a gradient from blue to red. In the first large triangular panel shows the monster sneaking up behind Fenn and standing above him. The monster has started to become see through and some aspects if its skeleton are shown on its skin. The panel also starts the shift in colors on the page with a gradient from blue to red. Next is a straight on view of the monster leaning over Fenn, completely see through with an irregular glitchy outline . The panel is entirely in red tones. The next panel is a glitchy error screen over Fenns eyes, except this time Fenn shows an expression of acceptance of his fate. The final panel on this page is a right side profile of Fenn looking up towards the glitches that have started to over take him
The last panel is a full page illustration of the monsters head and neck holding on to Fenn's headphones . The monster is depicted in an abstract fashion with stripes of various red and grey tones , and some of its skeleton still showing through. At the bottom of the page in a glitchy font reads I'll just give in.

Court of Darkness: Prince Reactions to MC Being Cold/Shivering
GUY
MC sits on one side of a couch in Guy’s room, reading a book for an upcoming lesson. Guy sits on the other side, reading various Avari royal correspondence.
MC’s rubs her arms quietly, not wanting to disturb Guy’s work by asking for a blanket. Suddenly, without warning, MC is lifted in the air and plopped on top of Guy’s lap. Her face turns bright red as Guy licks her lips. He pulls back, a triumphant smile on his face.
“You’re warm now. Heh.” Guy trails a finger down MC’s blushing cheek and neck.
“You noticed I was cold?”
“You were hardly subtle.” Guy smirks as he kisses the length of MC’s neck. “Not that I mind keeping you warm like this.”
TOA
Toa is a mother-hen. If it’s cold outside, the MC isn’t going out without gloves, coat, appropriate shoes. If a room is cold, he lights a fire in a nearby fireplace. So it would be very rare for MC to be cold around Toa.
Toa, however, is a different story. His hands are constantly cold from anxiety. And he’s not into giant public displays of affection. So, MC looks for ways to subtly warm Toa’s hands—knitting him gloves to wear; holding his hands discreetly under a table; making him a thermos of hot chocolate to keep at all times.
MC: *Rubbing Toa’s hands underneath a blanket in his room* Do you feel better Toa?
Toa: *Kisses her temple* Yes. Thank you for bringing warmth to my life.
LYNT
Lynt: MC, are you cold? Do you want to snuggle with me?
MC: …
Lynt: No? *Pouts slightly*
MC: Lynt, we’re in class…
Lynt: *Blinks in confusion* And? So?
MC: Well, you’re teaching the class right now…
FENN
Fenn is the equivalent of a human jacket, needing zero excuses to drape himself on MC for extra snuggles. If anything, he’ll suggest to MC to wear short sleeves on chillier days so that he can wrap his arms around her in public more (“Just imagine how else we can be wrapped up in one another my dear…”).
MC catches on to Fenn’s antics. She meets Fenn outside the Academy’s gate, in long sleeves and a jacket. Before Fenn can react, MC pulls out a gigantic purple scarf, big enough for two people. She wraps it around both their necks smiling. “Now we can be close and warm!”
Fenn smiles tenderly at her. “How you surprise me Treasure.”
ROY
Roy notices MC shivering while in town. He begins to take off his jacket to offer it to her, but thinks of a better plan. Smirking, Roy puts a spell on his jacket so that it grows in size. He wraps the jacket, which now is big enough for two people, around him and MC, grabbing her around the waist as they continue walking.
“This is a cozy, warm hold, is it not?” Roy looks rather pleased with himself.
MC snakes an arm around Roy’s back, placing her hand inside the back pocket of Roy’s pants. While blushing, she gives a squeeze and retorts back “I think THIS is a cozier hold, no?”
RIO
Rio is the king of sleeveless shirts and vests. There’s no jacket he can gallantly provide MC. However, when he rummages in his pockets…
Rio: You look a bit cold and peck-ish MC. Here! I got just the thing!
*Rio roots in his pockets and brings out several warm bread rolls, muffins…*
MC: How are these rolls still warm? Magic?
Rio: No magic! I guess they’re just naturally warm! *Wipes crumbs from his back pants pocket*
MC: *Oh GOD, this roll’s been warmed by Rio’s—*
Rio: Why’re you blushing Sunbeam?
LANCE
Lance walks to his favorite resting spot by the lake in the forest. He finds MC asleep, sitting up against a tree. Her cat familiar Robin is curled up in her lap and the wolf Grushia’s head rests against MC’s outstretched legs.
Sunlight normally streams through the forest’s canopy. Not today; a cool mist hangs in the air, the sky an indeterminate shade of grey. Lance peers closer at MC and sees goosebumps prickling her lower arms. He takes off his jacket and drapes it like a blanket over MC’s upper half. Lance’s heart warms at the sight of those he cares for the most huddled together.
Not that he’ll admit it out loud, of course.

"I shall wander for a night and a day. I will retrace the steps that once I made, in the shade of the railways. I will stalk the city’s monstrous geography and find the streets that bore me here, the squat channels in the brick to which I owe my life and self.
I will find the tramps who shared my food, if they are not dead from disease or stabbed for their piss-stained shoes. They became my tribe, atomized and ruined and broken, but still some kind of tribe. …
The noises of New Crobuzon fill my ears. I will follow them, welcome them. I will let them surround me. I will dive into the hot, city life. Under arch and over stone, through the sparse bone forest of the Ribs, into the brick burrows of Badside and Dog Fenn, through the booming industry of Gross Coil. Like Lemuel sniffing for contacts I will retrace all the steps I have made. And here and there, I hope, among the spires and the crammed architecture, I will touch the immigrants, the refugees, the outsiders who remake New Crobuzon every day. This place with bastard culture. This mongrel city. …
All around me will be New Crobuzon, seeping in through my skin."

Fenn Luxure
- When you got sick, he insisted you stay in his quarters where he and Violet would be available to take care of you.
- Will he listen to Letty’s scolding for passing off lecture duties to Roy? Of course not. Staying with you is much more important.
- He’ll prop you with the finest pillows and comb through your hair with his fingers, read to you, and make sure you take your medicine.
- You ask him to hold you when the chills start, and he wastes no time crawling under the covers with you, delighted that you would crave his comfort.
- He doesn’t care if he gets sick too, then you can stay in bed with him longer.
- When you finally sleep soundly, he’s so relieved. Now you can heal, and his heart can settle, knowing you’re going to be alright.
Toa Quelsum
- Of course you weren’t about to bother Toa with something as silly as a cold, but when he hears from Knight that you collapsed after lectures, he drops everything to bring you to your bed.
- He wastes no time in diagnosing your illness and preparing the medicines himself.
- Knight is given detailed instructions on when to administer your treatments when the prince is unavailable, but Toa is there with you every other second he can spare.
- You wake at several points to see him surrounded by paperwork sitting at the foot of your bed.
- When you beg him to cuddle with you, practicality makes him hesitate, but your tearful eyes quickly make him abandon reason.
- His sweetheart needs him, so he holds you close for the rest of the night.
Rio Voleri
- Your big boyfriend is a big ol softie when you’re sick.
- He fusses and brings you more soup than you can eat.
- Blankets? You’ve got six. Bread to stave off nausea? White or wheat?
- Cuddles? Well, the headache and sniffles don’t seem appealing at all. But such thoughts are quickly abandoned.
- Is there anything better than a big warm hug from a big warm-hearted man with the healing soul of a golden retriever?
- He feels no regret when he catches the sniffles too. Seeing your smile as he held you in his arms, feeling better at last, was well worth it.
Lance Ira
- Your grumpy boyfriend is peeved that you got sick.
- Who’s going to take naps with him and Gruscha?
- But finding out you’re ill from Hawke? He’s in an even worse mood.
- He’s an awful bedside nurse until he sees the beads of sweat on your face, and how pale you are.
- Lance sits on your bed and you get a glimpse of his handkerchief - embroidered with your initial.
- He remembers when you gave it to him, out in the forest. And tonight, he’ll return your kindness and doting in full.
- When you ask him to cuddle you, his immediate reaction is to reject. But of course, he can’t resist your pouting eyes any more than he can Grushca’s.
- The sigh he lets out is impressive before he settles on top of the covers and puts an arm around your shoulders.
- He doesn’t stop rubbing your shoulder until you’re in a deep sleep, and unaware of the kiss he places on your hair.
Lynt Akedia
- Cuddles? Cuddles.
- He doesn’t care if he gets sick. All that matters is holding you close until you feel better.
- He’ll have Tino bring the best blankets and pillows, until you’re in a nest of comfort to heal.
- Of course he’ll stay with you, not letting anything get in the way of taking care of you.
- Although, Tino might have to be in charge of making sure you get your medicine as he keeps falling asleep with you throughout the day.
- But he is the best at making sure you have proper rest. He won’t let you out of his arms until you’re completely better.
Guy Avari
- You don’t get frightened easily anymore, after being the lover of an Avarian prince. But this flu has you weak, and the fever has taken so long to break…
- The moment he sees the gleam of fear in your eyes, his annoyance evaporates.
- Jasper gets the order to cancel everything he can. Medicine is gathered. The fluffiest blanket taken down from the wardrobe.
- He sits nearby, reading and complaining at you off and on. When you reach a trembling hand out to him, he graces you with his signature scowl.
- There’s too much to do to risk getting sick.
- …But he can’t stand seeing you so miserable, and the dragon curls up with you at last.
- He’ll protect you from anything, everything. His queen will be sequestered away in the dragon’s den until she is ready to stand with him again.
Roy Invidia
- Tea and flowers fill your room within days.
- Roy wastes no time in bringing you all the best herbal teas. He makes sure you drink plenty to keep hydrated and to stave off your illness as quickly as possible.
- He can’t help but fuss and dote on you. You are his precious flower, after all, and he can’t stand seeing you wilting like this.
- The perfect prince comes to you as often as he can, bringing you meals and medicine.
- Early evening when you start to take a turn for the worse, you beg him to stay. Of course he has so much to do, so much to lose from being absent.
- But he’s never able to deny you anything. So he agrees to spend the night with you, holding you close and comforting you when the fever spikes.
- He will always take care of you, be there for you. Nothing in the world can stop him from being there.

The Tragic Origins Of Peter The Wild Boy
The boy who became known as ‘Peter the Wild Boy’ first came into the public eye when he was spotted naked, in the Hertswold forests (near Hamelin in Hanover) around 14 years of age – though some accounts claimed he was more like 11 or 12 years old. Found filthy and badly sunburned, with matted straggly hair and long fingernails, he didn’t appear to be able to understand human speech and was reported as only being able to utter a limited series of grunts and squeaks. In addition to that, his eyes seemed to flit about rapidly and he was very agile, being able to move about very quickly on all fours and climbing trees with ease.
Though news soon spread, no one came forward to claim him. It seemed that no one had any idea of who he could be, who his parents were, where he’d come from or how long he’d been in the forest for – he was quite an enigma. He may have been in there, seemingly alone, for months – or even years – on end.
At Christmas time in 1725, George I – the King of Great Britain and Ireland at the time – decided he wanted to see this ‘wild boy’ with his own eyes, and so he had him brought to his court at Herrenhausen where he was mostly treated kindly, but a little insensitively as somewhat of a strange and entertaining kind of pet. In 1726 the King then had him brought over to St James’s Palace in London, where he was exhibited to English nobility and became an object of intense curiosity among all levels of society. He was christened and baptised as Peter in 1726, but still no one seemed to be able to teach him to speak, despite various attempts. With the King’s death in 1727, the public’s interest in Peter began to subside. He was passed from carer to carer as he grew up and, in the summer of 1751, Peter disappeared from the farm he was staying at with James Fenn.
He was once again found and it became obvious that this mysterious man, who many thought was a ‘simpleton’, was actually Peter the Wild Boy, the missing boy (now more of a man). The Bridewell swiftly arranged to be compensated for its trouble and arranged for Peter to return to Germany; he left Norwich on the 7th November 1751.
Once back in Germany, a brass collar engraved was attached to Peter with his name and address on, to ensure that, if he was to stray again, he could be easily identified and returned. This shows that Peter was evidently considered by his guardians as valuable and almost like a personal possession.
No one knows how Peter made it all the way to Norwich, over 100 miles from Hertfordshire, without any money or the ability to speak. And how had he survived in the meantime – there were 1 or 2 months where he must have survived ‘living off the land’; perhaps his childhood living in the forests of Hanover had prepared him for this. It all remains a bit of a mystery, and one we still haven’t solved today.
Peter died at Broadway Farm in 1785, aged around 73. Legend has it that he refused all food after his last master passed away and therefore died of starvation – whether this is true or not remains to be seen. He’s buried in a parish churchyard at St Mary’s Northchurch, but a blue plaque remains in Norwich outside the Wild Man pub in Bedford Street, which commemorates Peter and his brief but impactful stay in Bridewell Alley.

ginger & pear // pressed
bring me home pick me and press me in the big dictionary you keep on the shelf i belong nestled and swaddled  in words, to preserve me for years and when winter arrives, i'll still be here and when spring comes around, i'll still be here pressed in the shape that you found me most beautiful paper thin and petals like laces, i wait until it's time to unveil me maybe now i'll be delicate at least for a season or two and when summer arrives, i'll still be here and when autumn comes blowing, i'll be here pressed and beloved, or forgotten that's all up to you paper thin and veins on display, i wait until i'm transparent and ready maybe now i'll be knowable i can learn not to ache for your hands
nick mulvey // fever to the form
'cause the very thing you're afraid, afraid of it keeps you clean but unclear - clean but unclear is the dirt that you're made, you're made of and that's nothing to fear no, it's nothing, my dear but how do i know what you're thinking? maybe i thought it before maybe that's why i'm at your window hear me at your door singing, "give me some more" oh, fever to the form won't you hear me at your door singing "give me some more"? 'cause you were never empty and we've been here before
the staves // steady
steady, steady, steady you steady touch our love so much, i'm sleepless rabbit in a snare, why you sleeping softly in your bed? when unruly wild blood is pumping, why you running scared? and the line will read that i was never here can you see from where you're standing and the line will read that i was never here can you hear where i'm coming from?
rosemary & garlic // i'm here
here we found a place to stay build a house in the woods you'll find it safe it's small, though the light comes in then you say that it has a fire within then you sketched the trees and a path underneath for those who leave and i am a lover and a friend to you a part of your palette, a shade of blue i am i am here here i am here and i have you grateful by my side you are all my colors and my light
fenne lily // top to toe
tell me i'm a time you'll miss feelings always change like this but you are all the words i need to explain myself, it seems so i'm changing all my days to make your nights won't you take me to your bed? i should have said i need you more
roo panes // know me well
well, you know me with that ancient gaze you strip me down with yesterday's eyes you know me as i was but see me as i will be and i still had a lot of growing when you took me and you shaped me with those hands you know me better than myself, make me better than i am you know me well, you know me well, you know me well when i think upon my past i see i loved you many years before you came in my hopes and my dreams with the wax and the moon wane what can i fear when i know that i walk by your side? you're the fortress within which i've got nothing to hide none can take me; i'm the tower the world couldn't fell 'cause i'm stronger when i know you know me well
jono mccleary // darkest light
you have been strong in my mind today my love is dying to be on your way why am i always drawn to the darkest light? it seems that i believe i can help it shine so let me see the lines upon your face invite me in to dance in your darkest place to dance in your darkest place can we dance in your darkest place?
wolf larsen // if i be wrong
what if i'm wrong, what if i've lied, what if i've dragged you here to my own dark night? and what if i know, what if i see there is a crack run right down the front of me? what if they're right, what if they're wrong, what if i've lured you here with a siren song? but if i be wrong, if i be right let me be here with you tonight ten thousand cars, ten thousand trains there are ten thousand roads to run away and i have been wrong, i have been right i have been both these things all in the same night so if i be wrong, if i be right let me stay here with you tonight
tuvaband // unknown
fear showed me how fragile this is i seem to lean back on my heels and i want to meet you halfway but i cannot yet would you wait for me? until the unknown would you wait for me until the unknown?
axel flóvent // forest fires
i'll be there in the summer 'cause your heart isn't safe you won't go - you're not a runner so you won't run away if you could follow your heart gently there wouldn't be this mess your dreams are incredibly loud tonight you're creating forest fires i can't change your thoughts, my dear i can't change your fears but if you want i'll travel near to make it disappear
liza anne // lost
i'll be lost if i love him lost if i don't oh, it seems i'm my own worst enemy i'm doing it to myself and i can't muster up the courage to say it's best that i leave i can't muster up much of anything when i'm feeling you breathe he's the sweet of a morning kiss but there's a poison it holds sticking thorns into my spine but i won't let go sticking thorns into my sight but i keep my eyes closed i'm doing it with my own heart i won't let it mend i'm doing it to myself
billie marten // heavy weather
when the sun rises heavy, if it rises at all meet me there across the water and we'll start an endless storm rain falls in love together we walk the english winter so caught up in one another because if we're under thundershowers the rain is ours and we are lovers of heavy weather come on, lightning, try to strike us we might be frightened, but we won't run we'd be so happy if we were fearless and in the darkness, we will become rain falls in love we fall in love

Thicker than Water
i wrote this a few weeks ago but refused to post until I could actually outline the story in it's near-entirety... so here the beginning of it is!
----
If anyone ever asked, Lance didn’t like or want children. He was a scary bad boy loner type that kept a wolf for a friend. He gave off an air of villainy and he knew it. And for the most part, no one questioned it. A few people knew it was likely all surface level: Hawke, Fenn, Violet, Jasper. The drinking buddies. They’d never tell a soul or they knew he’d never come back to the tavern to cover their rounds. Obviously Christoph knew, but no one knew Christoph so he had no one to tell. Christoph was a secret and the obvious smoking gun that he was not only very fond of children, but good with them.
If anyone ever asked, Lance had plenty of reasons for not wanting children. He was bad with them (a lie), he didn’t like them (a lie), and he never wanted to subject a child to the life of Irian prince or princess- that he didn’t know how to protect them and keep them free. That latter part was not a lie. Truthfully, the mere thought of his hypothetical child encountering his father made his stomach turn. The concept of Christoph meeting Addis had been the frequent topic of his nightmares, so the idea of a little tyke, half-him and half-her, with her round pretty eyes and broad dimpled grin, being pulled into the nightmare that was an Irian childhood? Lance swore off parenthood even before he’d met her that one strange night in the forest and now that he knew her and could see the future in her eyes? Never. Never in a million blasted years. The Irian royal bloodline could die with him.
For this reason, Lance had always been extremely careful. Before her, he hadn’t been above the occasional one-night stand or short fling, though it was rare- and he left no stone unturned. Potions, spells, whatever was at his disposal, he was using it every single time regardless of complaints or confusion. And thus, there were no purple-haired little Lances running around on the Isle of Colde or anywhere else. He carried these habits into his relationship with her and she’d been glad for his diligence in prevention. She, understandably, had her own reasons to be apprehensive about becoming a parent.
Which was why all of this felt like a nightmare.
“Lance? …Lance? You’re freaking me out, say something!”
He snapped to and blinked up at her, pulling his face out from where it’d been hidden in his palms. When she’d arrived in his quarters that morning, he’d been a bit taken aback by the timing of it: she wasn’t one to rise early on a weekend. He knew, he’d seen how long it took her to wake up when not under the pressure of making it to a class. So when she’d woken him with a series of harsh, rapid-fire knocks to his door and cries of his name, Lance sat up in disoriented shock and let her in immediately. Her eyes were red and puffy, with tears running down her face in rivulets. Her hair was mussed up as though she’d run at a full sprint all the way from dorm Tradis and her hands were shaking around the object she held in her hands. She’d then pushed him back into his room and closed the door firmly behind her, trying to pull her breaths in with shaking gasps. He, panicked, had put his hands on her shoulders and asked her what was wrong, what had happened- and then she’d said it. And he’d noticed it: the glowing little orb contraption she was holding in her hand and the tiny pinprick of blood on her thumb. As though punched, Lance had stumbled back onto the bed, crumpling in horror.
Numbly, he looked her up and down.
“Please, please tell me you’re joking,” he whispered. He knew she wasn’t.
She shook her head and shoved the test out at him. It was clear as day. There was no mistaking the intensity of that color for anything but the strongest of confirmations that she was absolutely, without a doubt, definitely pregnant. Slowly he took the test from her and continued to stare at it as she sniffled above him.
“I, I just thought that I wasn’t feeling good b-because I had a stomach b-bug but Sherry convinced m-me to t-take one this morning just to ch-check…” she sobbed. “I didn’t th-think it’d be positive! I don’t understand how…” At this, she hid her own face in her hands, quivering.
The sight of her sobbing broke him out of his reverie and Lance stood weakly from the side of the bed to pull her into his arms. She buried her face in his chest and he held her in close while he stared off into the middle distance, trying to process it.
He’d done everything right. So had she. And for as much as he didn’t want it to be true, he knew this was his progeny making its way into the world- she was loyal to a fault and would never even imagine straying. So somehow, somewhere, finally, the stars had stupidly aligned in just the wrong way. Potions and spells be damned. She was pregnant.
Lance sat back down and pulled her onto his lap, moving his hand along her hair in rhythmic strokes. Gods, how’d he done this to her? Disbelief was giving way to panic and guilt and he took a deep breath, trying to stem the tide of it. It was enough for her to deal with being tossed into a brand new world, let alone with powers she didn’t understand. But now he’d knocked her up and tied her inexplicably to the kingdom of Ira, a fate almost worse than death.
“…how far along is it?”
She sat back to look at him. Her eyes were glazed and even puffier than before somehow and she wiped at her tears with the heel of her palm. “Uh-uhm… probably about, like… month? I don’t know exactly…”
“Then there’s time yet.”
“T-time?”
Lance nodded. His mind had begun racing. Yes, that was it. She was so early. She didn’t have to stay pregnant just because she was right now. Plenty of people backtracked when it was still early, when they could catch it. It wasn’t too late. He hadn’t doomed her or ruined her life, not yet. Lance stood, holding her close still. “Right, time. You needn’t go through with it. Even on Colde they have healers who know the methods for termination.”
She blinked up at him, wide-eyed and mouth hanging open. “They…? You want me to…?” she whispered. Her voice was small, almost inaudibly light and weak. “…I… I don’t…”
Realizing his haste, Lance pulled her hands into his and kissed the backs of them softly. “It’s an option. I…” he trailed off and stared off into the corner, away from the look of distress on her face. “…a good option, really. One I’ll handle.” He looked back at her imploringly. “Say the word and I will get it sorted for you. You needn’t do a thing.”
She’d gone still and stiff beside him. Numbly she nodded and let her hands go slack and weak in his grip. “O-okay…” she murmured. “I… I’ll think about it.”
He squeezed her hands in his. “Please.”
She managed to squeeze back and turned, walking over to the settee and sitting down. Slumping, she sighed and buried her face into her own hands and massaged her temples. “…I’ll think about it, but… I don’t know. I just don’t know…”
The unsettled rumble of nerves in Lance’s stomach began again. Disoriented by the rising anxiety, Lance tugged his fingers through his hair and began to pace back and forth. His heartbeat felt like it had risen into his ears. She couldn’t stay pregnant. She couldn’t. Swallowing the knot in his throat, Lance dropped to his knees in front of her. “You aren’t considering keeping it, are you?” he whispered.
She gaped at him, eyes wide and mouth opening and closing as though unsure of the words to form. Frowning, she looked away and took in a deep breath, letting it out slowly. “I don’t know, Lance. I just… I don’t know… I only just found out now so I haven’t been able to think about it properly…” she trailed off and placed one hand on her lower stomach as though trying to perform some kind of divination for an answer.
Lance sat back and stared up at the ceiling. “...You know what it would mean, don’t you?”
“Lance…”
He stared at her. “And you know the life they’d have. That you’d have. You know that. I’ve told you about it. You’ve been to Ira. You…” Lance winced, his voice breaking with the weight of it. He rubbed at his chest as though it could rid him of the feeling. “...You know that I can’t… can’t p-protect…shit!” Lance whipped away from her outstretched hand and stood, crossing the room and facing the wall with his hands clenched in his hair, eyes clenched shut. The room felt like it was shaking and he leaned forward, gasping for breath through the panic.
She padded across the room and laid one hand on his shoulder, gently turning him and beckoning him close until the two slid to the floor intertwined and sat there, still for moments that turned into minutes and then into what at least felt like hours.
Lance wasn’t prone to fits of emotion so emerging from the cloud of it felt like he’d been punched a couple times in the head or had come in exceptionally late from a night of drinks. He blinked back any leftover tears and took her in where she sat beside him. She was small, frail looking. Her face was stiff as though every thought was focused on holding herself together. Gently, Lance cupped her cheek in his hand and tilted her close.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured. “...I don’t want to pressure you, but…”
She laid her own hand over his. “...I know.” Looking away for a moment to collect herself, she then turned. “I just need some time to figure out how I feel. It doesn’t feel real to me yet.”
“...Right.”
She moved closer and tucked her face into the crook of his neck, resting her head against his chest. Lance wrapped his arm around her and rubbed along her arm in slow movements. The idea of this moment being one of a final few before everything went to shit terrified him- the concept that after today, everything would change in a way he couldn’t change back was overwhelming. But there was nothing he could do, so he sat there, powerless, and held her.
—-----
In the following week and a half, she said little to nothing of the situation, though it hung in the air between them anytime they were together. She did not drink and went to bed early, citing fatigue. She spoke of homework, things that Rio had said to her in class, what new meals they were serving in the infirmary, and what her little cat had been up to with Gruscha off in the forest. Overall, she acted entirely normal.
Meanwhile Lance was slowly losing his mind.
Lance swished around the remaining bit of whiskey in his glass and then clumsily shot it back before dropping the glass unceremoniously. He slumped over the bar counter face-down, face buried in his crossed arms, and didn’t respond when Hawke landed a hard slap on his back.
“Oy lad, you’ve been acting a bit off. You gonna say anything about it one of these days?” he asked, sliding into the seat beside him. “You know, it’s not good to drown away all your sorrows.”
“Like you’re one to talk,” Lance muttered, pulling his face up to shoot a glare at the older man.
Hawke held up his hands in mock defensiveness. “All I’m saying is you’re acting a bit more gloomy than usual.”
“I concur, there is something strange going on.”
Lance inwardly groaned as a familiar flirty arm snuck its way around his shoulder and the scent of a particular cologne wafted toward him as Fenn leaned in close. “Get off,” he groaned, weakly swatting him away.
“Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees it then,” Hawke said solemnly.
Fenn peered at Lance in a way that made him squirm. Fenn didn’t take many things seriously but he was weirdly perceptive and could guess a weakness or worry in another person with disturbing precision. More than once during a bar outing the other prince had disarmed an unruly patron by saying just the right thing that would make them squirm and retreat. Having that gaze turned on him made Lance’s skin crawl so he turned away and gestured to the bartender for another drink.
“I think not, lad,” Hawke said, smacking his hand down. “You’re had more than enough for the night. I don’t want to return you to MC completely sloshed.”
At her name, Lance tensed and Fenn gave him a knowing pat. “Ah, I see! Something to do with Treasure, then,” Fenn said with a grin, leaning in close. “Trouble in paradise?”
“Hush,” Lance grumbled, shoving him back. “And stop calling her that.”
“Well, is there?” Hawke asked, folding his arms. “Is that what’s been bringing you here so much lately?”
Lance didn’t respond and turned away, gritting his teeth.
Fenn sat beside him, bending to catch his eye. “You know, I have quite a bit of experience with women. Perhaps I could lend you my advice.”
“I do not need advice from you, of all people,” Lance hissed. His head was beginning to pound.
Fenn pretended at offense with a dramatic hand to his chest. “Well, you don’t know until you try. It won’t hurt any more than what you’re doing to yourself already, from the looks of it.”
“I agree with that. Why not just get it off your chest?” Hawke chimed in. His face was uncharacteristically stern and serious. “Listen, I’ve watched you come in here every night for the last week and you’ve said hardly more than a sentence each time. You know I’m not one to pry.”
Lance grumbled and resisted the urge to push back from the bar and storm off into the night. Irritated at the intrusion, he mumbled to himself and sat up, eyebrows knit in displeasure. “...Yes, fine. Issues with the two of us. For us. We aren’t fighting, it’s… something else. There, you happy now?”
Fenn and Hawke shared a glance, mystified.
“So no lover’s quarrel then?” Fenn probed.
“No.”
“You didn’t fight? You didn’t do something to her?” Hawke leaned in closer.
Lance sighed. Do something to her? In a manner of speaking, he did- so he prickled and slid off from his seat at the counter and dug in his pockets for coins. “We didn’t fight,” he replied, tossing the payment onto the bar. At that, he slung his jacket back over his shoulders and waved at the two still seated and staring at him in confusion.
“So you did do something… oh! Lance?!”
The door swung shut behind him and Lance stumbled off from the bar in the direction of the Academy thoroughly hammered. His heart thumped through his chest and his limbs felt as though they’d been turned to stone. As the Academy gates came more into view, his stomach slightly turned and he found himself instead heading toward the forest. He needed to try to think somewhere peaceful; somewhere that didn’t feel like a prison at the best of times.
The usual spot was, as usual, empty. Gruscha or any woodland creatures were all abed by now so the clearing was still and the water in the pond was motionless, reflecting in a perfect still image the moon that hung above. Lance slid down and rolled onto his back with a thud, starfished across the cool grass. He blinked wearily up at the moon, which shone a cold and pure white.
If anyone ever asked, Lance was not the religious type. Not even when he had a good reason to be. Some people prayed to gods, apparitions, idols. Some prayed to loved ones they’d lost, which he understood a bit better. After the loss of his mother, he’d tried it himself and found that the words hung hollow and meaningless without her there in the flesh to hear them. If only it’d felt like she could hear him or else he knew he’d be asking her about what to do now. Who else understood the gravity of this moment? She had to have felt similar things- she’d raised him alone in the desert instead of in the palace for a reason after all.
At some point in the past week, he’d begun to think of the pregnancy not of some indiscernible threat, but the real, flesh-and-blood thing that it was. There was still time, of course, to undo what had been done, but her silence on the matter had made him suspect that she’d decided against ending it. Which had driven him utterly insane: he had never loved anyone with the intensity he loved her. Creator, she was everything and more to him. After Lutz had died, Lance had been convinced that whatever part of him existed for other people had been thoroughly ripped up and stomped on, but there she’d come ten years later, bringing him to life. Making him feel again. It was terrifying.
The idea of losing her to the machine that was Ira, just because she unintentionally carried an heir, was terrifying. And Lance knew that whatever baby they’d have in some hypothetical future, he’d love it with everything in him. There was no future where he didn’t. He remembered the intensity of his mother’s love, the way it seemed to tear at her as she died and how she grieved herself for him. He knew in his gut he’d feel the same kind of love for his own child.
He closed his eyes. How would he manage if she said she was keeping it? What would he do? Addis had met her before, albeit briefly, so he already knew of her existence. Inevitably he had spies at least occasionally check in on his son and if they were seeing him, they would see her. If she was visibly pregnant, they’d know and so would the king. There would be no avoiding the disaster coming full speed their way. There was no future in which Addis would not intervene to bring that child into his clutches. The allure of their ancient magic and the power it held would be too much to resist.
The matter of ancient magic was another thing. Her latent ancient magic had the ability to bend space and time, including the ability to replenish the magical stores of others. It was an incredible thing to witness and she’d saved his ass on more than one occasion by using it. But it was also unmistakably a weapon that could be used for evil, just as Lance’s own magic could. Even if their child was born without an ounce of magical prowess, it wouldn’t matter. Addis would have her.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow he’d ask her what she was going to do. After that he had no idea.

HERE HE IS MY TRAGEDY BOY ILARI…what secrets hide behind that customer service smile??
Read below to find out ;))))
Note that his character profile is (shockingly) incomplete, I haven’t finished writing out all the details of his arc yet, BUT I figured I’d share what I have :’) Which is already plenty bc this is already 5k words so you’ve got a lot to read anyway lmao
Ilari/Fenn (Alias)
Age: 26
Hair color: Orange
Eye color: Red/pink
Element: Forest
Ilari’s story mainly focuses on him and his childhood friend, Azra. He lived a relatively normal life in a small village, and he and Azra grew up together. Their parents were good friends, so they’ve practically known each other since birth. The two of them were very close—best friends with an unbreakable bond. Their village was mostly comprised of older couples and the elderly, so there weren’t really any other children for them to play with, another reason for their closeness.
All of that came to a sudden end when Ilari’s parents passed away :’( This was when Ilari was around 8-9 years old. They were caught in an accident on a trip out of town, and unfortunately neither of them survived. Ilari was absolutely devastated;; he was really close with his parents, and being an only child made it so much worse. Without any other relatives to take him in it seemed like he’d have nowhere to go, but Azra’s parents immediately soothed any worries about that by taking Ilari in. Naturally they’d never abandon their dear friends’ child, and since Ilari was already so close with Azra they didn’t really have to think twice about it. Azra was thrilled to be able to be with Ilari more often, seeing this as the best thing ever (minus the whole uh Ilari’s parents being dead thing). Before their deaths, Azra was actually supposed to go live with his aunt for a while—his parents thought it would be a good experience for him to get out of the village and take part in guild life, since his aunt is part of a guild. Of course Azra had been dreading going, not wanting to be separated from Ilari, but now that’s no longer a worry because of Ilari suddenly having to move in with them. So, Azra’s relocation was called off.
With Ilari around, things in Azra’s household changed quite a bit. Ilari helped Azra through his transition (yes he’s trans!), and with his charm was able to soothe any worries Azra’s parents had on the matter. (They aren’t like, inherently transphobic or anything, just very traditional, so they were unsure on how to really take it.) As the years passed and the boys grew older, things started to change between them too. They’d grown even closer than ever, and started dreaming about going out to see the world and maybe joining a guild someday. It was pretty much inevitable that they’d fall in love with each other—and once they realized their feelings, it didn’t take long for either of them to confess.
Their new relationship blooming, Ilari and Azra decided to leave home and travel around for a while. Being stuck in their village their entire lives, every step outside was like a new adventure. They spent the next several years moving from place to place, never really staying put in one town for long, since they wanted to see everything the world had to offer. Their next destination was a city of water that they’d both dreamed of seeing for ages; Ilari took this chance to propose to Azra, so that they could get married in the city and maybe settle down there for a while. Azra more than happily accepted.
Of course, all good things must come to an end…both of them started out towards their wedding destination, riding the high of being new fiancés, completely oblivious to the tragedy awaiting them. Along the road they were suddenly attacked by a strange group of bandits. Ilari quickly puts the pieces together that they’re a group of elite purists, obsessed with the concept that elementals should be the only group of humans to exist, and those not blessed with magical abilities should be culled. The group has been traveling around, targeting non-elementals and killing them without mercy all in the name of their ideals. Unfortunately for the couple, while Ilari is a forest elemental and is spared from their judgment, Azra is a non-elemental, and he is not so lucky. Ilari is strong, but not strong enough to pull off a defeat against such high numbers, so he can do nothing but watch as Azra is captured in front of him. Ilari struggles against the people restraining him, but is unable to break free, and watches in absolute horror as the purists slaughter Azra without a hint of mercy.
Seeing the love of his life get hurt breaks something within Ilari. His power surges, and he’s able to free himself while his assailants get caught up in his attack. The remaining purists are impressed and shocked at the strength of his magic, seeing as it just overpowered half their members. They make a hasty retreat, but Ilari is too distracted by Azra to follow them.
Ilari gathers Azra into his arms and realizes that he’s too late. Azra has already bled out, growing weaker by the second, and is completely unresponsive. Ilari begs him to wake but he never does…and like that, Azra dies in Ilari’s arms. Ilari sobs in despair and lies there for hours in agony :’(
Once he’s tired himself out, Ilari, fueled with rage and a thirst for revenge, vows to hunt down every last member of the purist group and wipe them out. Losing the only important person in his life is the thing that breaks him completely, so he loses all sense of judgment, morality and even rationality. It’s easy for him to become twisted after witnessing such a tragic thing 😔
Over the next year, Ilari follows up on his promise and tracks down the purist group using a variety of connections and…other various sketchy methods. At this point he’s become a full-fledged vigilante, having gained the skills and smarts to be able to sneak around and do all the dirty work without leaving a trace behind. This results in the brutal deaths of many of the purists, because at this point Ilari has nothing to lose and doesn’t feel a shred of mercy towards the people who killed Azra for fun. He almost grows numb to the killing, having gotten over the guilt of it a long time ago.
At long last, Ilari finally tracks down the leader of the group, who just so happened to be the one he ran into with Azra all that time ago. Ilari makes him watch as he slaughters his men (as an intimidation tactic) and then entraps him in vines before forcing him to drink poison of his own creation—something that stems from his own elemental magic, which a lot of people have looked down on him for. (Forest elementals who have the ability to make poisons are generally ostracized by others and are given a bad reputation, mostly bc of how obviously deadly it is.) Ilari tells the leader that he doesn’t even deserve to be killed by Ilari himself, and that this slow, agonizing and indirect method is the perfect end for someone like him.
After leaving the leader’s base, Ilari breaks down in tears. At long last he’s exacted revenge on Azra’s murderers, but it doesn’t make him feel any better—in fact, he just feels worse knowing that all of it was for naught, because Azra is never coming back. And now his hands are permanently stained with blood and the knowledge that he made the conscious decision to become a killer himself.
Emotions a complete mess, and not really knowing what to do with himself now that his only goal has been completed, Ilari drifts from town to town, doing odd jobs and struggling to keep himself afloat amidst his depression. During a visit to a local bar, Ilari overhears some of the patrons discussing a strange woman known as “The Contractor”, who apparently has the power to grant wishes of any kind. Eager to know more, he asks a couple questions, but is immediately warned that the Contractor is not one to be easily trifled with. Apparently with her power people’s wishes DO come true, but at a very very steep price—some rumors say that people have even regretted making a deal with her because the tradeoff was even worse than they could have imagined. But Ilari’s already at rock bottom, so things can’t get worse for him, right? At this point he’s desperate to have any sense of normalcy in his life again, and he wants to see Azra so badly that it aches.
With that knowledge tucked under his belt, it doesn’t take Ilari long to locate the Contractor…or rather, for her to locate him. He’s met with a very eccentric woman, whose eyes appear to have seen beyond the stars themselves and hold an ancient power. Even her very presence is intimidating, something that whispers of eldritch abilities. Ilari immediately realizes that the rumors were true, the Contractor is not to be handled lightly. The toll for her granting wishes is always heavy, the price too high. But Ilari’s willing to risk it anyway.
The Contractor introduces herself and says she always comes to those who need their wishes granted most, almost like she can sense their desire. She asks Ilari what wish he wants granted—and Ilari tells her he wants to see Azra again, no matter what the cost. She warns him, gravely, that the result may not be exactly what he was hoping for. Ilari questions her then, accusing her power of being fake if it can’t grant the exact wish, and the Contractor explains how her wish granting actually works: through her, the person making the wish actually makes a deal with fate itself. She has them sign a contract and weaves fate in order to fulfill their desire. However, fate is fickle, and even she is not its master, so she can’t predict how things will turn out. That’s why it’s so high of a risk. She tells him that she is merely a vessel of fate, that she can’t bend it to her will, only give the option to temper with it in the first place to try to achieve the results people want. And the only people who ever sign her contracts are the ones who are absolutely desperate to change fate, change reality, no matter the consequences. But that’s why she appeared to Ilari in the first place: he’s one of those desperate few, the one willing to step forward and risk it all without knowing what will happen.
Ilari doesn’t take long to mull it over before agreeing to her terms. She warns him once more that he may come to regret his decision, but Ilari tells her he already has too many regrets, and that he can face any problem as long as he can be with Azra again. And so, Ilari signs her contract, and the Contractor begins to pull the strings of fate…
Ilari awakens to find himself in a room by the sea. Peering out the window, he recognizes the town as the one Azra was initially supposed to go to to live with his aunt all those years ago. The possessions in the room definitely belong to him, and with one glance he can tell that he’s apparently lived here for a while and has settled in. Naturally he’s confused, but he figures this has something to do with the contract he signed and fate being changed. And with that he immediately starts to look for Azra, because it had to have worked, right? Azra has to be alive, right? Maybe the Contractor had changed fate so that Azra had never died that day. Ilari rushes downstairs to find out.
The first thing he sees is Azra’s back in the kitchen. The shock of seeing the love of his life after so long hits Ilari hard, and before he knows it he’s bursting into tears. Azra is absolutely shocked and rushes over to comfort him. Ilari breaks down and Azra has to hold him while he sobs and pours his heart out—the first time he’s ever really let himself break down and express his emotions since Azra died. Ilari loses himself in Azra’s embrace and releases all of his pent up feelings that he’d kept in for the better part of a year.
When he finally comes back to himself, Ilari realizes that they aren’t alone. There’s another girl there, who has joined their embrace, and is also whispering soothing words of comfort to him along with Azra. Azra expresses concern over Ilari’s actions, since he isn’t really the type to cry in the first place, and the girl agrees. When Ilari asks who she is, the two of them laugh awkwardly and ask him if he’s joking—her name’s Iori, of course, come on, Ilari, you know Iori! One of your closest friends, a member of the local guild, Azra’s fiancé—
And that is what truly shocks him, right down to his core. Ilari shakily asks them to repeat themselves, and yes, he heard that right, they’re fiancés. Suddenly the Contractor’s warning makes so much more sense and Ilari quickly excuses himself, running out of the house and leaving the stunned pair behind.
Ilari runs with no destination in mind until he tires himself out, and when he finally finds a place to rest, the Contractor appears. She looks grim, like she’d already seen what happened and is prepared to face his wrath. Ilari asks her what’s going on, so she sits him down and explains all of the differences that fate has brought them.
The true reality of the Contractor’s ability is revealed. She’s actually a time elemental, and through her powers of making deals with fate, she can alter timelines through contracts people sign. In this timeline, Ilari’s parents didn’t die until much later in his life, so he got to be with them more. However, because of this, there was nothing to prevent Azra from going to live with his aunt, so Ilari and Azra didn’t grow up together like they should have. Azra fell in love with guild life and being able to spend time outside of their little village, so he essentially started to “study abroad” there. Because Ilari wasn’t there to directly influence Azra’s parents’ opinion on his transition, things between them grew strained, driving Azra away and making him want to stay with his aunt more and more. Eventually Azra only came home during the summer, making the time Ilari could spend with him very small compared to the everydays they’d spend back in the original timeline, so they weren’t as nearly as close. And during all this, Azra fell in love with someone else—Iori, who was also a member of his aunt’s guild. By the time they’d reached adulthood, Azra had moved permanently to live with Iori, who he’d proposed to. And not long after that, Ilari’s parents passed away. Azra and Iori pushed back their wedding to tend to Ilari, who didn’t have anyone else to turn to. Despite Ilari’s objections they convinced him to move in with them, just for a little while, which led to his current living situation. But, because Ilari and Azra never went traveling together in this timeline, they never ran into the purists, so Azra wasn’t murdered: the only true upside to the whole thing.
Ilari finally understands the consequences, the way too high price of signing a contract. While Azra was alive in this timeline, the price Ilari paid for it was an entire lifetime of memories with him, their childhood, their mutual attraction, all of the time they spent together, gone. He’s the only one who remembers now. And isn’t this just absolute torture? The love of his life is alive, but is engaged to someone else, and won’t look at him the same way ever again. All of their promises, their secrets and their exchanges of affection don’t exist here. Ilari starts to wonder if it was worth it. Is it better for Azra to be dead and still have everything they shared intact? Or is it fine to leave things like this, for Azra to be alive but not remember how much they loved each other, how they promised their entire lives, their future to each other?
The Contractor looks genuinely remorseful, and she apologizes for putting him through more pain. She leaves to let Ilari grieve in peace. At this point, it almost feels like he’s lost Azra all over again, like he’s died a second time. The Azra that exists here is a completely different person, one who’s been shaped by different experiences and relationships, someone completely foreign to Ilari. Azra’s alive, but at what cost? Ilari’s lost more than he’s gained.
Ilari doesn’t get much time to really let it sink in, though, because Azra shows up, apparently having been searching for him all over town. Azra admits he’s really worried about Ilari, mentioning offhand that he hasn’t been the same since his parents passed. But this Ilari lost his parents a long, long time ago, and has already accepted that. He decides then that he’ll just act as normal as possible around Azra, so he doesn’t notice the discrepancies in Ilari’s behavior.
Ilari expects himself to feel nothing but hatred for Iori, but realizes he can’t find it in himself to despise her. Just by being around her and Azra he can tell that she makes Azra really happy, and it just so happens she’s probably the sweetest and most selfless person Ilari’s ever met. Basically, she’s an angel and Ilari’s almost angry that he can’t dislike her. Why is she so Perfect. It’s super frustrating. Every time he even thinks about being nasty to her she smiles at him or does something super sweet for him and he’s like GOD DAMMIT
Ilari gets used to living with the two of them after a while, but it’s still emotionally exhausting. Seeing them so happy together never ceases to make his heart feel like it’s being torn in two, but above all else all Ilari wants is Azra’s happiness. He slowly starts to realize that maybe things between them weren’t super ideal. Azra seems much more open and sociable in this timeline, probably as a result of him growing up in a guild rather than stuck in a village with just Ilari as a friend. And Azra’s happy, truly happy, almost glowing—making Ilari feel sick to his stomach. Maybe he’d been holding Azra back all that time. Maybe things were better this way—maybe this was meant to be after all, the way things should have played out for them. It’s a poisonous mindset to have, and as Ilari falls deeper into his own self-deprecation, he decides that he can’t taint Azra’s life any further. Especially since the two of them have already pushed their wedding back for him, several times, too concerned about his mental health. Ilari feels like he’s nothing but a burden to them. So now he’s got survivor’s guilt, a guilt complex, self esteem issues, AND depression! A cocktail of mental disorders!
Ilari breaks the news that he’s planning to move out. Azra and Iori immediately refuse, begging him to stay, but Ilari insists that this is something he needs to do. He plans to travel around again—maybe seeing the world with fresh new eyes and without the responsibilities he used to have, Ilari can come to terms with everything that’s happened and move on with his life. But for now, staying with them is too painful, and every day he can feel himself getting worse, so he reasons that getting out is the best option. The couple eventually relent and let him go, but not before they throw him a little goodbye party and send him off with lots of hugs and the promise that he’ll return for their wedding.
Before long Ilari falls back into the comfort of traveling. It’s something that’s been constant no matter the timeline, so it soothes his nerves and starts to help with his downcast mood. Besides, there’s tons of places he never got to see in his original timeline, so this is a good chance to visit them all. Along the road he ends up bumping into Kiyo (for those of you who don’t know him, he’s the Guildmaster of the Asterstone Guild, and you can read up on him here!), who, due to his absentminded personality, ended up getting lost on the way home. Ilari offers to guide him back to town, and the two end up bonding on the way.
Kiyo senses immediately that Ilari’s a bit of a lost soul, a traveler with no end destination in mind, so he persuades him into staying at the guild for a while. Ilari had mentioned that he’d never been part of a guild before, so Kiyo figures guild life will be good for him—getting to meet new people and open himself up a bit more might help his depression. Ilari’s very hesitant at first, not used to being around anybody else but Azra, but he eventually warms up to the guild. The pain in his heart begins to ease, just a little, as he spends time with the guild members and finally makes new friends. The entire guild is enamored by him (also bc he hides all of the dark parts of his past), and they all take care of him. Kiyo’s a moron at the best of times and Ilari finds the fact that the guildmaster is completely incompetent absolutely hilarious (but it’s all in good fun).
Several weeks into living at Asterstone, Ilari happens to overhear a conversation mentioning that a non-elemental was attacked a few towns over. It’s like a bucket of ice cold water descends on him then, because he remembers the other thing that happened in the other timeline that didn’t happen in this one: the purist cult is still around. Ilari knows that he can’t let them continue to do as they please, or the same thing will happen again, whether to Azra or some other innocent non-elemental. Ilari decides to leave the guild for the time being and go after them. At this point he’s unsure whether or not he wants to fall back into how things were before: should he save the lives of countless others, at the cost of becoming a cold-blooded killer again? He feels himself teetering dangerously on the edge of becoming who he was in the original timeline, and it terrifies him. After finally knowing what it’s like to be happy again, to feel warm and safe, he’s scared of doing his vigilante work because he knows he might lose himself again—and he doesn’t want to be that dark person, he doesn’t want to be a killer. But he’s the only person that really knows what the purists are like, having done research and following their movements relentlessly for over a year.
Ilari goes straight to the purists’ main base and is shocked to find it empty. He’s sure this is where their base of operations was—but it looks as if the place hasn’t been touched in years, like nobody was ever there at all. Before he can get too confused, the Contractor appears and warns Ilari that in this timeline the purist group is much, much larger and more dangerous than before, due to some sort of butterfly effect that made their numbers skyrocket. Ilari feels a mounting sense of dread. This is more than just a ragtag group, they’re an elite force now, with more knowledge and power than ever. The Contractor tells him that the purists had spread their philosophies using the Elemental Massacre from a thousand years back to spur more hatred towards non-elementals (and if you don’t know, that massacre was basically the reverse of what the purists are doing now, non-elementals targeting elementals in large groups and killing them due to feeling inferior). Ilari realizes that this has grown way too big for him to handle alone, and despite his hesitance, knows he has to ask for help on taking the purists down.
He returns to the guild and even though he’s terrified, opens up a bit more to Kiyo and explains the situation with the purists. Kiyo agrees that something needs to be done about them, because he’d been hearing rumors of attacks happening for the past couple months. Ilari says that disbanding the group is his main goal and he’ll do anything to see it through—but this time he’s going to do it the right way. He resolves not to kill anybody this time, just punish them appropriately for their crimes. Kiyo agrees to help him, but they need to come up with a plan, because if word gets out that the guild is looking for information, that’ll be too obvious and force the purists into hiding. They’re awfully slippery so they need to handle the situation delicately.
Kiyo tells Ilari that the guild actually does work with an underground informant (hiiii Mara <3) and that he can definitely get them some info and connections to help them start researching the purists whereabouts. However, having Mara be their sole informant isn’t enough, they need a bigger network of information coming in and out: but again that’s the issue with having the guild involved, people underground don’t want to be associated with a goody-two shoes organization like that.
Ilari proposes the idea of opening up a shop, one that isn’t affiliated with the guild, that acts as a front for a meeting spot for informants. Everyone involved agrees, and with the help of the whole guild, Ilari opens his very own floral shop in town! (Flower shop AU REAL.) He decides to adopt an alias for safety purposes, so he starts going by the name of Fenn during his time working at the shop (and those who knew him as Ilari before start referring to him as Fenn too). Ilari, being a forest elemental, creates a mixture of herbs, remedies, flowers, and other concoctions to sell to customers. He meets up with Mara, who agrees to help, and Mara spreads the word that Ilari’s place is a spot for informants to head to without being under the watchful eye of the law. Through this method, they’re able to gather and trade information about the purists with other vigilantes, thieves, and general do-no-gooders, creating a vast network of informants. Of course, having sketchy people constantly coming in and out of your shop definitely makes rumors fly, so eventually Ilari’s shop starts to get a…sketchy reputation around town. (Not that he necessarily cares either way, as long as he’s getting what he needs out of it.) People start to avoid shopping there (except for the guild members who know Ilari is a good boy) and Ilari starts to hear urban legends about his own shop, which he finds endlessly amusing. (So does the Contractor, who still drops in every now and then to see how he’s doing. He and the Contractor are…friends? Acquaintances? They’re certainly SOMETHING lol)
Things settle down after this—it’s pretty much just a game of patience at this point as Ilari and the guild slowly start to gather information and intel. During this, Ilari ventures outside during a rainy day to harvest some herbs for his shop and wanders across an injured bird. Ilari scoops it up and takes it back to his shop to tend to it. He quietly muses how he and the bird are similar; both loners with injuries, whether it be physical or emotional, who nobody seems to pay any mind to. But then he says that since the guild took care of him, he’s happy to care for the bird, making it a whole full circle “there’s still hope for us after all” kind of thing. Unbeknownst to him, this bird is actually a shape-shifting elemental, who hears Ilari’s kind words and gestures of care and is like 😳
Several days later, Ilari wanders into the back of his shop and is shocked to see that the bird has transformed into a human. He’d saved a human!! The human introduces himself as Mio, and quietly yet sincerely thanks Ilari for his compassion and care. Ilari asks where he came from, and while Mio seems closed off, he admits that he came from a port town south of them, and that he was being chased by pirates.
SADLY this is all I have written so far, but yes Ilari will end up with Mio, who is probably just as messed up as he is lmao so they’re really perfect for each other. Are they unhealthily codependent on one another? Yes. Does it work for them? Yes. Ilari doesn’t think he’s worth saving but Mio goes to all the lengths to prove otherwise, even going so far as to cut the strings of fate himself, which is DANGEROUSSSS. But it all works out ;)
Once I get the rest of Ilari’s story arc written I will edit this post and put it here! Hopefully that will be soon wheeze
Extra personality traits:
-He’s very self conscious of his flaws, so much so that he constantly second guesses himself when it comes to taking steps in relationships. He always asks permission before doing anything with Mio, and is very careful whenever he does initiate anything :’)
-He’s very impulsive and tends to jump into situations without thinking;; it’s just an involuntary gut reaction. But he’s smart enough to get himself out of said situations most of the time
-Normally very bright, cheerful, and friendly. He’s able to get along with practically anybody he meets. He’s also quite the charmer 👀 But he’s very sincere with his compliments, which is why he’s so likable.
-Despite this, the only person he’s really ever been “close” to is Azra…until Kiyo and the guild came into the picture and forced him to open up more towards others.
-Super physically affectionate with people he’s fond of. He’s known to cling to others if he’s really in need of attention
-He’s not afraid to be blunt—in fact, he’ll usually keep a cheerful smile on his face while he blatantly (yet politely) tells things as they are. Nobody really knows how to counteract this lmao
-He’s so bad with feelings. When people start confiding in him he freaks and loses his cool (hence his negative reaction to Mio confessing his feelings. THEY WORK IT OUT THO).
- He can’t take compliments and he refuses to believe in the fact that anybody could like him because he has zero self-esteem 😔 He wasn’t this way before, but after killing so many he truly thinks that he’s too stained with blood to be worthy of anybody
-When he loses his smile you KNOW you’re in trouble. He rarely ever shows his serious side but when he does things get scary
-He haaaates showing his nasty side to Mio and to Azra;; Sometimes he’ll slip into that persona unconsciously and he always feels awful about it afterward (especially since he doesn’t mean it most of the time). But he’s usually quick to catch himself when he’s being cruel, and apologizes straight away.
-He’s a self sacrificial moron. If anybody close to him is in danger he’ll offer himself up immediately and take the fall no matter what the consequences. This ties heavily into his own negative self worth which is why he’s so quick to take the bullet for others. He’s got that “better me than them” mindset and it’s so UNHEALTHY, this boy needs THERAPY
-Rarely gets overly emotional (and by this I mean like the crying kind of emotional) but when he does oh man. Everyone loses their minds trying to comfort him
-At this point he’s only used to Azra’s flirting so whenever Mio starts doing anything romantic he gets flustered as hell 😏
And now, because at this point I feel like I need to include it, a TL;DR:
Ilari, a forest elemental, grows up with his non-elemental best friend Azra. After Ilari’s parents die, he moves in with Azra, falls in love with him, and eventually proposes to him while they’re out journeying. On the way to their wedding destination, Azra is killed by a group of elemental purists. Ilari spends the next year hunting them down and killing them for revenge. After that’s complete, he hears rumors of a woman called The Contractor who can grant wishes. Ilari signs a contract despite the warnings of a high price to be with Azra again, and finds himself in an altered timeline where Azra is alive but is engaged to somebody else. Heartbroken, Ilari leaves on a journey of self discovery and realizes that the purists are still around in the new timeline, so he concocts a plan to go after them and disband them once and for all. During all this, he rescues an elemental named Mio, whom he begins to grow close to despite his own reservations.
TO BE CONTINUED.......lol

Pokemon King & Queen
Pokemon K&Q is a fangame set in Orvana, a region that consists of two islands - Ruvia and Valorik. You and your twin live on a ranch with your father while your mother is away being the champion of the region. As you traverse Orvana, you will find 'dungeons', pockets of reality in which a primary type thrives with complete shiny odds but you cannot use regular pokeballs in them due to the space-time disruptions, but these balls do not become available until you've beaten the first gym. The elite four and a connected city will be on the island you don't start on.
This region is somewhat open world, and the gym leaders will change their teams based on how many pokemon you have. There will be some locations blocked off because you don't have the right pokemon or don't have enough team members, and others like the elite four and the second island may be blocked off by badge count. Some areas will also be without access according to story progression, but these will mostly be tied to evil team actions.
(poll at the bottom)
Mechanics
Depending on if you choose the Queen or King version of the game, you will start on different islands with access to different pokemon. When you reach the second island, the pokemon the other 'version' has access to become available at extremely low chances to preserve 'version seperation' without the need to figure out how to implement trades but they are only available on the second island.
Speaking of trades, I am thinking about them happening when you move between islands instead, meaning they don't become available until you're halfway through the game, but they will have to be holding an item.
I have four primary mechanical additions.
First is pokemon with three types. I have a mechanic similar to tera but it doesn't replace a type it adds, and the legendaries will likely both have 3 types without any extra items, or have a 'powered down' form in the same manner as Zacian and Zamacenta. This is essentially a reskinned mega evolution combined with tera typing.
Second, I added 2 more types, partially just so the Elite Four (which focus on a single type) don't overlap with gyms but allow all types to be used. (I'm thinking about the champion using a random team typing but that one is still uncertain).
Cosmic
Strong: Fairy, Dark
Weak: Psychic, Dragon
Resist: Sound
Sound
Strong: Psychic, Fighting
Weak: Electric, Ground
Resist: Dragon
Third is my gyms being dual-typed. I have some already figured out but not all of them
Grass/Rock
Cosmic/Fairy
Psychic/Sound
Fighting/Ground
Electric/Water
The Elite Four will be 'weaker' types - Normal, Bug, Ice, and Poison
Fourth is shiny dungeons. Like the safari zone you can only use special pokeballs for the dungeons, but you can still fight the pokemon with increased experience gain. These dungeons are being created by the evil team trying to manipulate probability among other things to force the legendaries to show up.
Maps
These are the most recent images I have for the areas in the region.
Tumblr media
First is Valorik's Overgrove Town.
This lovely area is nestled between a forest and some mountains and is home to the Grass/Rock Gym leader Rosetta who's ace is a regional marowak.
The pond is home to many magikarp, but you might find a few menashell, rowdy water/fighting types.
Tumblr media
Second is Valorik's Fenn Ranch.
This has been covered before but I added more space to the pens and moved the berry farm. Each pen houses s different variety of animal.
Top left contains Miltank, Tauros, and the regional prevo of both, Kalva, a small blue cattle.
Top right contains Mareep and Wooloo, as well as a Stoutland to keep an eye on them and a Lillipup in training to be a herd dog.
Middle pen contains Ponyta, Rapidash, Mudbray, and Mudsdale.
Bottom Pen contains Torchic and the currently unnamed Turkey Pokemon - Which will likely be Normal/Fighting, Ground/Fighting, or Normal/Ground.
Poll Closed
(feel free to reblog and share with friends)
That's it for this update! See ya next time with a list of Pokemon gaining the Sound or Cosmic types!

Swordswoman Anne Halford AU Actual Plot of the anime now
Anne heads off to Lewiston par usual to canon until the point where she would be at the fairy market
Anne looks through the market, a neutral expression on her face
Some merchants try to goad her into buying a fairy from them, after basically all of the merchants have pestered her, she asks if someone was selling any warrior fairies. She needs an escort for her trip to Lewiston
They do and that's when Anne meets Shall
She makes up a lie of needing to double check her finances to see if she can afford to buy him
That night, the fairies are all freed by the one other free fairies call the Silver Sword, because Anne and Emma both smelt of silver sugar and fairies notice it
Getting Shall's wing back was the hardest, but thanks to the fairy Anne freed as just Anne Halford, Mithril Lid Pod, they manage to give him his wing back too
The fairies scatter in clusters into the wilds. Some in awe, fear, or hatred for the Silver Sword
The only one who stays is Shall, because he though he knew how humans are, but clearly he didn't. Because this scarecrow of a girl is not only capable with a sword- and well too- but she risked being ganged up several dozen angry merchants and fairy hunters to free them
"I give my name to no one, but the fairies have referred to me as the Silver Sword, if you wish to use that title for me, so be it."
Even the girl's voice sounded different, a sense of cold authority, yet something about her sent makes him feel warm
He stalks the swordsmen back to her cart, and it wasn't an easy task given how she weaved through the forest several times over in an attempt to lose anyone tailing her
"I know you are there, fairy, and I request you leave me be and enjoy your freedom. You can probably catch up with the smaller ones to protect them if you so wish. But best not to loiter around town, least they steal your wing again."
"Why did you let me follow you for so long then?"
"Because I thought you would give up, at the very least the rat stalking us both seems to be winded now."
"You noticed too, then?"
The one tailing the pair is swiftly... dealt with
Shall and Anne talk back in her cart about her reasoning. It's a strange mirror, they are on equal footing but both are being cold and aloof
Mama always told her to not get attached to the fairies they free, because they probably don't want to stay near humans, yet two fairies she's saved today have decided to follow her
Mithril, she understood because she saved him as Anne
But Shall is an enigma, because there's a reason mama and her wore cloaks and dark clothing, to conceal themselves for their own safety and to put distance between them and those they might encounter and usually answering their questions would be enough for most
But the few fairies that offered to aid them were put under the royal family's protection. Their wing still their own as they went onto investigating the bigger and darker fairy markets
Shall Fenn Shall was different from other warrior fairies Anne has saved
One he was so pretty that many would assume him a companion fairy over a warrior fairy
Two, despite a clear distrust for humans, he insists on sticking with Anne over becoming part of the secret fairy squad the royal family has
Three, his blade is the highest quality blade she's ever seen on a warrior fairy. Being obsidian would only make him and his blade more durable but the craftsmanship tells her that he is no ordinary gemstone fairy
In the end, Shall stays with her even once they enter the Bloody Highway
Anne can fend for herself, but it's nice to have someone alongside her for the battle
(this is probably less coherent than the last aus I've made because brain is Mush)
