Cannes 76: oggi tocca ad Alice Rohrwacher con La Chimera
Cannes 76: oggi tocca ad Alice Rohrwacher con La Chimera.
Con La chimera Alice Rohrwacher torna in concorso a Cannes, dopo il premio per la sceneggiatura di Lazzaro felice (2018). E' la terza italiana in concorso, sostenuta da un bel cast internazionale, in cui emerge Isabella Rossellini nel ruolo di Flora.
Protagonista del film, Josh O'Connor (The Crown), un archeologo che ha la dote di "sentire" il terreno e scoprire le tombe etrusche, e ha legato con un gruppo di tombaroli locali, pronti a tutto.
Con la fotografia di Hélène Louvart, La chimera è arricchito dalle presenze di Alba Rohrwacher (sorella della regista), di Carole Duarte e Vincenzo Nemolato. Prodotto da Rai Cinema e tempesta film, uscirà in Italia con 01 Distribution.
L’attrice Isabella Rossellini racconta com'è nata l’alchimia con la Rohrwacher: "Tutto è cominciato da Alba, con cui ho fatto La solitudine dei numeri primi. Dopo ho visto tutti i loro film e sono rimasta incantata dal talento di Alice. In questo film, girato praticamente sotto casa sua, si sente la vita di Alice e di Alba, l'eredità del loro padre apicultore. Hanno una vera conoscenza della vita contadina, che è stata messa da parte e ora viene riportata in superficie".
Ma che cosa rappresenta la chimera per Alice Rohrwacher?
E' qualcosa che cerchiamo e che non riusciamo a raggiungere. Per i tombaroli è il maledetto bisogno di soldi che affligge l’umanità, per l'archeologo Arthur è l’amore perduto con Beniamina. Ho voluto inserire un personaggio così diverso, romantico, tra i tombaroli, con la loro mascolinità esibita. La chimera è la consapevolezza che viviamo in un paradiso che cerchiamo in tutti i modi di trasformare in un luogo infernale. Nel mio lavoro cerco di raggiungere qualcosa che sfugge continuamente” spiega la cineasta.
Ed in merito alla competizione con gli altri registi italiani, Marco Bellocchio e Nanni Moretti, afferma: “Ovviamente sono molto emozionata. Quando ci si presenta a una platea internazionale così c’è sempre un momento di sano panico, ma mi sento protetta dall'aver lavorato con attori che stimo in una maniera incredibile. E sono onorata di essere in concorso con maestri come Moretti e Bellocchio, ma anche Loach e Kaurismaki. Sono tutte persone che hanno alimentato la mia libertà di sguardo”.
L’assegnazione della Palma d’oro è vicina, e speriamo che possa tingersi del tricolore.

Non Solo Medea interview #4 Manuela Mandracchia - actress
Between the moving bodies of 18 dancers and the intense drumming sound of percussionist Flora, one actress gives voice to different characters from Greek tragedies. In this new performance, Non Solo Medea, Manuela Mandracchia, actress, Italian, works with a mixture of ancient and modern texts. What is it like for her to work with Emio Greco, Pieter C. Scholten, the dancers and Flora?
Did you already have experience in working with a dance company?
Not really, I worked in theatre productions before in which one or a few dancers were incorporated, but never with a dance company. It is a whole new experience.
How do you experience working with Emio, Pieter, the dancers and the percussionist?
Emio and Pieter are in a constant research for purity. The language but also the movements of the dancers need to be honest, plain one could even say. The characters I represent, Medea, Antigone, Iphigenia and Oedipus, are famous and strong. Their stories are very emotional and they all experience horrible events. As an actress I feel like diving into these characters, I want to embody them, to feel their emotions. But Emio and Pieter asked me to take a step back. It is as if you’re looking from a distance at what is happening on stage, as if you’re a painter: you made a painting filled with emotions, then you step back, you look at your painting and observe it. Things become clearer. It is a way of working that was new for me, it was difficult but the result is beautiful. We offer the audience a view of the minds of the characters, we hear their thoughts and see their struggles.
What is your favorite text in Non Solo Medea?
It is impossible to choose between Medea, Antigone, Iphigenia and Oedipus! However, I think that in certain stages of your life you can feel a stronger connection with a certain character. At this moment, I feel related to both Medea and Antigone. The first monologue of Medea. Is very strong, she looks at the audience and asks: “Do I have to talk about myself? Me, who is that? Who am I?”. This question “who am I?”, which returns several times during the piece, is an interesting one, just because it is so hard to answer it.
What, to you, are the keywords of this new performance?
There are several words that come to mind: io (Italian for me), understanding, decision, love and fate. But as this performance highlights the research for identity, I would say “io” is very important: “who am I?”. By constantly repeating “io” the meaning of the word changes, it becomes something different, a rhythm, a sound or an echo.
After graduating in 1993 at the Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica in Rome, Manuela worked with several theatre directors as Luca Ronconi, Antonio Calenda and Massimo de Francovich. She won the UBU award for her role in Amor Nello Specchio (Ronconi) and the Maschere award for her role in Hedda Gabler (Calenda). Apart from doing theatre, she also figured as an actress in several Italian films. ranging from film directors like Nanni Moretti, Luigi Comencini and Marco Bellochio. Currently, Manuela works as a narrator of novels for Radio 3 (IT) and is part of the company Mitipretese à Rome.

URBINO – Si chiude domenica 23 settembre la Land Art al Furlo e, dopo un mese di appuntamenti ispirati al colore NERO, arriva a sorpresa alla Casa degli Artisti il colore delle illustrazioni di Raffaele Gerardi.
È arrivata all’ultimo appuntamento la IX edizione della Land Art del Furlo, un vero e proprio festival dedicato al colore NERO, che ha presentato in esposizione le opere di oltre 50 artisti e una serie di eventi durante tutto il mese. Il finissage di domenica 23 settembre si apre alle 15.30 con la proiezione dei video di Salvatore Giunta e Donatella Vici.
Alle 16,00 la presentazione dell’ultimo libro di Massimo Pandolfi “Tra l’Uro e la Bardana“ (2018 in.Edit), che traccia un percorso tra vita, cucina e alimenti naturali dal cacciatore-raccoglitore postglaciale alla cucina tradizionale moderna.
Pandolfi, naturalista pesarese di lunga esperienza, parla così del suo lavoro «Il libro spazia tra la botanica, l’archeologia del Neolitico, la nostra storia, la conoscenza dei prodotti naturali nella cucina di oggi e in quella dei nostri progenitori italici. Ho analizzato la varietà del comportamento alimentare dell’uomo, la sua storia e i prodotti. Il territorio è quello dell’Italia centrale appenninica, con una tappa proprio al Furlo, ma quello della post-glaciazione di 6000 anni fa.»
Il volume è illustrato da Raffaele Gerardi, pittore e disegnatore che parteciperà alla presentazione, al quale è dedicata una piccola mostra personale con alcune tavole a colori e le illustrazioni originali realizzate per il libro di Pandolfi. La presentazione è curata dal giornalista Alberto Pancrazi assieme ad Andreina De Tomassi. Partecipa l’editore Claudio Franzoni.
Il programma continua alle 17 con i canti di Claudia Fofi e poi la ricollocazione di due opere di Mauro Corbani e Germano Serafini, restaurate dalla Scuola del Restauro di Urbino. Il lavoro sarà illustrato dal docente Michele Papi assieme al vicepresidente della Casa degli Artisti Elvio Moretti.
Il brindisi finale di Antonio Sorace è un invito al 2019 con un doppio anniversario: i cento anni del Villaggio operaio ex ENEL, ora associazione culturale, e la decima edizione della Land Art al Furlo.
Massimo Pandolfi, naturalista, laureatosi in botanica nel 1971 presso l’Università di Bologna ha sempre considerato l’ambiente naturale come fonte inesauribile di meraviglia e curiosità scientifica. I suoi studi l’hanno portato in molte parti del mondo: Europa, Sud America, Africa e Sud Est asiatico, le Ande, Centro e Nord America, Galapagos e Seychelles. Ha una predilezione, per flora, fauna, archeologia e gastronomia della penisola iberica.
È un naturalista viaggiatore che pur seguendo studi specialistici, eco-etologici, su carnivori e rapaci, è interessato alle relazioni e agli enigmi che pongono le scienze naturali: dalla geologia e il paesaggio, all’antropologia, alla botanica, alla gastronomia e alle intricate diramazioni di evoluzioni e adattamenti. Pandolfi scritto racconti e saggi nell’ambito della letteratura fantastica e di fantascienza, e diversi libri di divulgazione scientifica.

So, Flora Yang is a young woman hailing from New York and starting college in the small town of Baycliff to get away from the bustling life of the city. She immediatly makes friends with many people, amongst them Leo Murphy and River Reed from down the hall, sorority hopeful Mags Wright and eventually she cracks the hard emotional shell of her withdrawn roommate Sammie Prescott.
The two become pretty much inseperable. Flora gives Sammie a bit of a makeover and gets her to socialize more, which Sammie's aunt Mona really appreciates.
Flora also has an immediate icy frenemy-type ship with sorority leader Lucy Hart. Lucy is a really two-faced girl and Flora can see right through her facade.
Meanwhile there's been some scandals surrounding Baycliff College, among which are the death of a fraternity pledge, one of the cheerleaders tumbling off the top of the pyramid and going into a subsequent coma, and the sudden and shocking death of a professor. And then there's the scandals no one even knows yet going on behind the closed doors of Delta Rho.
Flora begins to realize that the social life in Baycliff isn't much different than in New York, it's just in smaller circles.
After a party at Delta Rho, Sammie wakes up in her dorm room with zero recollection of what went down at that party. She just knows that suddenly Flora is gone, leaving only a text to Sammie. And she can't even ponder on it for too long because she finds Mags beaten up in her dorm room. But Mags refuses to say anything. She drops out of Theta Nu Mu and spends the rest of the year always playing catch up with her school work while her brother Tommy, her grandpa, and River all try to coax information from her.
Sheriff Steven "Skip" Warren refuses to look into Flora's disappearance because on his end she simply took off for a better life which pretty much all college students from the city end up doing. But then, a few months later, Sammie finds Flora's bloody friendship bracelett in the woods. Only Flora would have never walked into the woods by herself - she was deadly afraid of them. A body is found and it turns out to be Flora's.
Now the hunt for the killer is on, and there is already scrutiny on Dean May Collins and the Baycliff Police Department. Sammie's FBI Uncle Daniel Yang brings in colleague Louella Moretti so that she may assist Sheriff Warren, and the two end up having to work their way through a bunch of red tape, all the while Lou falls for Deputy Seven Simmons and vice versa.
Everyone in town is on edge and the fuse is just about burnt down with Delta Rho and Theta Nu Mu all thrusting their lawyers forward instead of answering questions and footballers, fraternity brothers, sorority sisters, and cheerleaders being forced to keep quiet, even when some do want to talk.
All the while no one even notices Sammie and Mags being stalked by two different people, as Sammie attempts to figure out who killed Flora and Mags needs to figure out who attacked her.

Praticamente nel centro di Pavia, non lontano dal Palazzo del Comune, troviamo l’Orto Botanico. Da via S. Antonio Giovanni Scopoli s’intravede la facciata principale, con una maestosa scalinata, mentre l’entrata riservata ai visitatori è in via Sant’Epifanio.
All’ingresso non si ha l’idea di quello che si potrà vedere dopo, un elegante chiostro, una biblioteca che racchiude erbari e libri antichi, e poi un parco/giardino ricco di fiori, piante, fontane, statue, un grazioso laghetto.
E’ un giardino pieno di colori, di profumi, qualche panchina, tranquillità.
Le fonti dicono che fin dal 1520 era presente un Orto a Pavia che conservava collezioni di Piante Officinali presso l’abitazione di Leonardo Leggi, allora lettore di Medicina Pratica Ordinaria dell’Università, ma l’ubicazione di questo primo Orto non è ancora oggi molto chiara, poiché si ritiene abbia cambiato sede più volte durante il lettorato dei Semplici, in cui si susseguirono circa una trentina di lettori.
Nel 1763 fu nominato lettore Fulgenzio Vitman, che convinse l’autorità a creare una struttura utile per l’insegnamento della Botanica pavese, cosi nel 1773 fu inaugurato l’Orto Botanico di via Sant’Epifanio, istituito con decreto del Plenipotenziario di Casa d’Austria a Milano, Conte Carlo Firmian.
Per la progettazione dell’Orto pavese fu usato come modello l’Orto dei semplici di Padova e si scelse di ricorrere in particolare all’esperienza di Giacomo Marsili, che lo dirigeva.
Nel 1774 fu insediato nell’edificio il Laboratorio di Chimica e nel 1775, sotto la direzione di Valentino Brusati (1773-1777) e con Giosuè Scannagatta come curatore, l’Orto era già aperto, mentre solo nel 1776 venne avviata la costruzione delle grandi serre in legno ideate da Giuseppe Piermarini.
Nel 1777, quando assunse la direzione Giovanni Antonio Scopoli (1777-1788) l’Orto Botanico arrivò al suo assetto definitivo, molto simile agli Orti Botanici più celebri, come di Padova, grazie alle ricche corrispondenze del nuovo direttore con numerosi botanici europei quali Adanson, Allioni, Arduin, Banks, Gessner, Gleditsch, Gmelin, Haller, Jacquin, Linneo.
Il lavoro di organizzazione dell’Orto continuò sotto il prefetto Domenico Nocca (1797-1826), che arrivò nel 1797, dopo aver diretto l’Orto Botanico di Mantova, che arricchì le collezioni con una serie di scambi di semi e di piante, oltre a sostenere il rifacimento delle serre facendole ricostruire da Luigi Canonica le strutture lignee con le nuove in muratura e aumentò inoltre quelle per la coltura di piante, che divennero una serie di edifici riparabili con vetri, esistenti ancora oggi.
Al Nocca successero Giuseppe Moretti (1826-1853) e poi Santo Garovaglio (1853-1882) che, nel 1871 inaugurò il nuovo Laboratorio Crittogamico per lo studio delle malattie delle piante dovute a crittogame parassite.
Il periodo di Giovanni Briosi (1883-1919) vide l’aggiunta di serre calde, di cui due sul lato meridionale dell’Istituto, e una, a forma di cupola, sovrastante una grande vasca.
Dopo Luigi Montemartini (1920-1926) e Gino Pollacci (1927-1942), nel 1943 fu nominato direttore dell’Orto Raffaele Ciferri (1943-1964) che se la vide con una serie di pesanti danni nelle strutture dell’Istituto, tanto che furono rimosse le serre sul lato meridionale dell’edificio, oggi la facciata monumentale dell’Istituto, e venne rimodellato l’impianto del giardino sull’esempio dei parchi delle ville lombarde del XVII e XVIII secolo.
Alla morte di Ciferri, Ruggero Tomaselli (1964-1982) semplificò l’organizzazione delle aiuole ed estese la collezione di specie arboree di latifoglie, oltre ad incrementare la collezione di Cicadacee e di piante grasse anche mediante importazioni dirette dai luoghi di origine e progettò la costruzione di una nuova serra tropicale.
Durante la successiva direzione di Augusto Pirola (1982-1996) vennero introdotte nuove collezioni (Hydrangea, Pelargonium, Hosta) e fu modificata l’impostazione della collezione di rose.
Dal 1997 l’Orto Botanico fa parte del Dipartimento di Ecologia del Territorio e degli Ambienti Terrestri, dove è confluito l’Istituto di Botanica, con direttore Francesco Sartori.
L’Orto Botanico si estende su una superficie coltivabile di circa due ettari ed è caratterizzato da una stratificazione di presenze storiche, nate da varie attività condotte in diversi momenti, alcune ora allo stato residuale, come l’arboreto gimnosperme, l’arboreto angiosperme e le piante officinali.
Ora è organizzato in collezioni viventi di piante ex-situ, come Roseto, Aiuola del Te, Serra delle orchidee, Serra tropicale Tomaselli, Serra delle piante utilitarie Briosi, Serre Scopoliane, Arboreto, Platano di Scopoli, Aiuole di piante autoctone della Pianura Lombarda, collezioni viventi di piante nella Riserva Naturale Integrale “Bosco S. Negri”, una struttura associata all’Orto Botanico, collezioni viventi di semi, conservate nella banca del germoplasma, e varie collezioni di essiccati, conservate nell’erbario all’interno dell’edificio dipartimentale annesso all’orto.
Il Centro Didattico della Riserva Naturale Integrale Bosco S. Negri propone, con attività di laboratorio e multimediali come conoscere l’ambiente peculiare di un bosco naturale di pianura; le specie che lo popolano, imparando a riconoscerle e a dare loro un nome; il suolo su cui si sviluppa e le sue caratteristiche.
La Banca del germoplasma nasce nel 2004 e oggi ospita sia semi di specie selvatiche autoctone, sia semi da coltivare d’interesse agronomico, grazie alla collaborazione con altre banche del germoplasma, nell’ambito della Rete Nazionale RIBES ed europea (ENSCONET, European Native Seed Conservation Network) e in particolare con la Millenium Seed Bank dei Royal Botanic Gardens di Kew, in Gran Bretagna.
L’Erbario di Pavia, localizzato nell’edificio dipartimentale, all’interno dell’Orto Botanico, fu fondato nel 1780 e oggi comprende un Erbario dedicato alle piante vascolari, di cui fanno parte l’Erbario Lombardo, con circa 23000 essiccati di flora lombarda, Erbario Generale e raccolte personali, riferibili a singoli autori quali Ciferri, Cobau, Gasparrini, e un Erbario Crittogamico, con raccolte Lichenologiche, Briologiche, Micologiche, Algologiche e di Myxomiceti.
La parte del giardino attualmente destinata a ospitare la collezione di rose è suddivisa in tre grandi aree, un folto gruppo di rose selvatiche, raccolte nelle aiuole marginali, con specie e ibridi naturali, le rose antiche, collocate in modo da evidenziare i legami con le sezioni precedenti e gli ibridi moderni nelle aiuole centrali.
Nell’Aiuola del Tè si trovano gli arbusti di tè (Camelia sinensis forma biologica ticinensis) coltivati dalla fine del XIX secolo.
Fu negli anni Settanta del XX secolo che su iniziativa del direttore dell’Orto Botanico Ruggero Tomaselli venne edificata la serra tropicale in vetro e metallo, che oggi ospita orchidee tropicali, tra cui specie di origine americana, quali Vanilla planifolia (vaniglia), Maxillaria tenuifolia, Maxillaria ferdinandiana, Bifrenaria harrisoniae, Mormolyca ringens, Epidendrum ciliare e Anacheilium baculus, mentre altre specie provengono dall’Asia orientale, come Cypripedium insigne, Coelogyne cristata, Dendrobium moschatum, Phalaenopsis equestris e Vanda tricolor. Dendrobium kingianum di origine australiana.
A partire dal 2004, sono state allestite anche una serie di aiuole con piante autoctone della pianura lombarda, molte delle quali protette e rare, tra cui specie nemorali tipiche dei querco-carpineti e querco-ulmeti (quali Anemone nemorosa, Aristolochia pallida, Asparagus tenuifolium, Asphodelus albus, Carex brizoides, Carex pilosa, Convallaria majalis, Erythronium dens-canis, Iris sibirica, Leucojum vernum, Polygonatum multiflorum, Scilla bifolia, Vinca minor) e piante xerofile dei prati secchi (quali Achillea tomentosa, Anarrhinum bellidifolium, Armeria arenaria, Clematis recta, Dianthus carthusianorum, Festuca stricta subsp. trachyphylla, Helianthemum nummularium, Hieracium pilosella, Lychnis viscaria, Polygonatum odoratum, Potentilla tabernaemontani, Rumex scutatus, Teucrium chamaedrys).
