Announcement: 3rd Annual Fleur de Louve Month
Welcome back for another month-long celebration of Sarah Wilson and Bucky Barnes!
This year we decided to bring it back to the original format of providing prompts all month to encourage the greatest amount of participation.
Tumblr media
Each week has a collection of prompts to choose from. You don’t have to do the prompt on the day it is listed, they are just there for guidance through each week’s themes.
Remember: the point of this month is to have fun and put more Sarah/Bucky into the world, so as long as you’re doing that, you’re doing it right!
Please reach out to the mods with any questions. We're so excited to see what this fandom comes up with this year.
Tumblr media
Edit we forgot (I'm so sorry! 😨): You should be able to find it on AO3 here, or type in the name "FleurdeLouve_SarahBucky_Month_2023" when typing the collection you wish to submit to
Edit: Reminder ✨️: Not everything HAS to be fanfiction. Be as creative as you want! Here are a few ideas: fan art, manips, comics, 3D rendering, moodboards, aesthetics, snapshots of Sims you make as the characters, A.I. "art" renders (especially for others who can't draw but still want to try something 😅)

Happy Birthday, Old Man by @tllgrrl aka Nefertiri Jones
Summary: Bucky celebrates his 100 and somethingth (“Who’s countin’?”) birthday with his family, and an old friend makes an appearance.
* * * * * * * * * *
For @buckybarnesevents Bucky’s Birthday Bash: Bake A Cake Edition
Base - #6 Post-Endgame /Post-TFATWS
Filling - Trope/Quotes: #1 There was only one bed. (Kinda…)
Frosting - Characters: #11 Sarah Wilson (and Cass, AJ, and Alpine)
Toppings: Colours: Blue (mentioned)
* * * * * * * * * *
He slowly opened his eyes and Sarah’s shoulder was the first thing he saw.
Smooth. Dark. Highlighted by pale blue moonlight through the skylight.
He didn’t want to move, but he carefully extracted himself from the bed, grabbed his robe from the chair, made his way out of the room, quietly closing the door behind him, and headed down the stairs.
He drank a glass of water, then stepped out onto the deck that overlooked the lake.
It was chilly enough to where he wrapped Sarah’s shawl she’d left outside around himself before stretching out on one of the deck chairs, and leaning back to look up into the starry night sky.
The light fragrance of her—and his—favourite body lotion enveloped him.
So many stars. Different constellations are visible in Upstate New York than in Southern Louisiana…than in Wakanda…than in…than…in…
“So…seems like you got some of that Life that Tony was talkin’ about, too, huh? I’m really happy for you, Buck.”
“Mmmm. Wha—?” Bucky opened his eyes, looked over to his left, and there was an elderly man—tall, with white hair—standing at the railing, looking out over the still waters.
It looks like, but it can’t possibly be…
“Steve…?“
“Happy Birthday, Old Man.”
“Thanks, pal. What—?”
Just as the man turns to face him—
Sarah shifts a little.
“You okay, Old Man?” She reaches back and gently rakes her fingers through his hair.
Bucky opens his eyes. He’s in bed. Sarah’s shoulder is the first thing he sees.
Smooth. Dark. Highlighted by pale blue moonlight through the skylight.
“Nothin’.” He kisses that shoulder, gently rubs his cheek on her. “Just a dream, nandi.”
“A good dream?” She whispers, but he can hear the smile in her voice.
He closes his eyes and buries his face in her hair, inhaling her and pulling her closer, wrapping his arm around her.
“Yeah. Not as good as this, though.”
Behind him is Cass. Cass’s heels are at his back and his head is pointed toward the foot of the bed.
AJ is curled up at Sarah’s feet.
The plan was to take the boys to their room and tuck them in after Storytime, but everyone had all fallen asleep in the King-sized bed because it was cold outside, and the vacation cabin had a fireplace in the master bedroom, so they were all cozy.
A purr is coming from somewhere above his and Sarah’s heads, and Alpine’s paws find his head and begin gently kneading his scalp.
“Hey, up there,” he whispers, “settle down, you.”
Outside, it’s wee hours dark, but the moon is almost full. Along with the soft glow of the nightlight by the door, Bucky can make out the details in the room, and of the blanket covering them.
It’s different shades of blue, woven from fibers dyed with indigo.
Woven into the blanket there are symbols, words, prayers that offer blessings and protection.
There is a similar spread on Sarah’s bed back home in Delacroix. The boys have their special Border Tribe blankets as well. This particular super-sized blanket travels with the family when they go on vacations and road trips.
It is soft, yet substantial thanks to the Vibranium that’s woven into the cloth making it practically impervious to a whole list of threats.
And most importantly, it keeps his family comfortable and warm.
Before he goes back to sleep, Bucky looks over to the nightstand and sees the framed photograph they’d given to him earlier.
A photo of Sarah, Cass, AJ, and him.
It had been beautiful at the dock on that special day. They were all smiles, dressed to the nines, and Sarah was holding a little bouquet of flowers.
The card next to the photo was handmade by the two boys and read:
Happy Birthday, Dad!! We Love You!!
Happy Birthday, mthandi! Sarah wrote under the boys’ names, and had drawn a heart.
“Happy Birthday, Old Man,” he heard the familiar voice as it faded away.
Yeah, Bucky thought as he drifted back to sleep, smiling.
Happy.

𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 by Em_Jaye (@idontgettechnology)
“What if you had someone else to help you run the boat?” he asks finally.
Sam laughs and looks at him sideways. “What? Like you?”
Bucky shrugs like it just occurred to him. Maybe it did. But it feels good. It feels like the kind of decision that’s just his. Not shiny around the edges, letting him know it was grown in someone else’s mind before being dropped into his. “Why not?”
“Why not?” Sam repeats. “Because you don’t know shit about fishing.”
“Well, from the sounds of it, neither do you.”

Bucky met Sarah's warm gaze, noticing the way her eyes crinkled at the corners as she smiled at him, and he found himself drawing closer to her, wanting badly to capture her lips in his in a gentle kiss.
Title: The Sweetest Risk | Bucky Barnes x Sarah Wilson | Rating: General | Words: Part 1/1 (1053 Words) | Prompt: SarahBucky Fleur De Louve Month 2023 - Week 1, Day 2 Prompt: “Sweet Potato Pie” | Synopsis: Bucky Barnes shoots his shot and asks Sarah Wilson on a date.
Tumblr media
Bucky smiled as he carefully balanced two white boxes with two pies from Sarah's favorite bakery downtown in one hand and a paper bag with an armful of flowers in the other. He stepped up to her porch two at a time and knocked on her door. When she opened it, Sarah smiled widely when she saw the pies and flowers and hugged Bucky.
He had decided to bring something special for Sarah when she had invited him over for dinner with her brother Sam and her boys. He had remembered Sam mentioning that sweet potato pie was Sarah's favorite, so he had gone downtown to her favorite bakery and picked up two. He also couldn't resist buying her a bouquet of flowers, hoping it'd show her his intention to get to know her better.
As Sarah invited him inside, Bucky couldn't help but notice how the dim light of her living room made her eyes sparkle. He had always felt a connection to her, and he cherished how welcoming she was to him.
Dinner was a lively affair, with Sarah's two kids, AJ and Cass, eagerly relating stories of their school day and Sarah's laughter easily filling the room. Bucky smiled, noticing how comfortable and at ease everyone seemed in her presence. As they ate, conversation flowed effortlessly among them--talking about books they had read, the latest movies, politics, and even the quirky neighbor down the street.
Amidst all this, Bucky found himself stealing glances at Sarah from time to time. He couldn't help but be drawn to her vibrant spirit and easy warmth surrounding their dinner table. Whenever his gaze met hers, she smiled knowingly back at him, and he felt a pleasant shiver run down his spine each time they locked eyes.
After dinner, Sam challenged his nephews to a race of their new toy trucks in the living room. The kids cheered and squealed in delight as their little vehicles zoomed around on the carpet.
Bucky smiled as he watched the kids laughing and racing their little toy trucks around the living room. They were so carefree and happy in that moment, making him feel happy for them.
He and Sarah soon went about cleaning up the dinner they had shared. Sarah had prepared a delicious meal, and Bucky noticed how peaceful and comfortable the kitchen was compared to the chaos in the other room. As they worked together, they kept up a steady conversation about movies, books, and other topics easily.
Bucky couldn't help but steal glances at Sarah as they worked. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun, revealing her soft neckline, and she had ditched her sweater in the kitchen's warmth. He was struck by how casually beautiful she was--he noticed how her eyes lit up when she talked about something she was passionate about or how her lips slightly curved upwards into an easy smile when she laughed at one of his jokes.
Bucky and Sarah continued to clean together comfortably. As Bucky reached for a plate, Sarah's hand accidentally brushed against his metal arm. He instinctively tensed, expecting her to recoil from the reminder of his dark past.
But instead, she simply smiled softly and gave him an understanding look. Sarah didn't flinch away. Instead, her fingers lingered, openly grazing along the smooth metal plates. She touched his arm as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Just like she had accepted every part of him since they first met, seeing him for who he was now, not who he used to be.
At that moment, Bucky felt a warmth in his chest that he hadn't felt in a long time. He met Sarah's warm gaze, noticing the way her eyes crinkled at the corners as she smiled at him, and he found himself drawing closer to her, wanting badly to capture her lips in his in a gentle kiss. She inched forward to meet his, but Sam's voice in the other room distracted them and she pulled away.
From the living room, Sam's voice rang out. "Cass, no throwing the trucks!" Then softer, to himself, "Definitely gotta talk to Bucky about flirting with my sister..."
Bucky ducked his head sheepishly, but Sarah just grinned and playfully bumped his shoulder. "Don't worry about him," she whispered. As she slid her hand down Bucky's metal arm, he shivered pleasantly.
"It's nice getting to spend time with you tonight," she said softly. "Joining us for dinner meant a lot for the boys."
"Just the boys?" Bucky couldn't help but shoot his shot, feeling a connection grow between them.
Sarah smiled beautifully at him. "It meant a lot to me too. I figured you'd already know that."
Bucky swallowed, his heart pounding in his chest as he nervously looked into Sarah's eyes. He wanted to make the most of this moment, to express the feelings he had been harboring for her since they had first met.
"Maybe next time you'll let me cook for you, just us two," he blurted out, instantly regretting how cheesy it sounded.
Sarah tilted her head and gave him a small grin. "Yeah?"
The corners of Bucky's mouth lifted into a timid smile as Sarah waited patiently for his response. He nodded slowly, feeling bolder than before. He stepped closer and caught her hand, gently running his thumb over her knuckles. "Go on a date with me, Sarah?"
Sarah blushed and looked up at him through thick lashes, her eyes bright and her smile as beautiful as ever. "Yes. I'd really like that, Bucky."
Bucky couldn't help but smile widely and gave her hand a gentle squeeze, feeling a warmth in his chest that he hadn't felt in a long time. This amazing woman was going to give him a shot.
The two of them stayed like that for what felt like an eternity before Sam's voice interrupted them from the living room. "You two almost done in there?" they heard Sam call out.
Bucky and Sarah shared knowing glances and chuckled to themselves. Sarah called back to Sam jokingly, "Almost," before returning to Bucky.
Yeah, he was definitely in trouble here with Sam for asking Sarah out on a date. But one look at her glowing smile made him think some risks are worth taking.

If you had the option to choose what SarahBucky fic gets made into a show or film, which would it be? You get 5 choices. If you want to, rank them but provide reasons why they have that number
Here's the catch: for all five that you chose, you can only pick ONE (1) of your own, if you chose to add one of your own fic works to the list

Nighttime Stroll
Rating: For Everyone
Pairing: Sarah X Bucky
Author's Note: It's just fluffy.
Summary: Bucky and Sarah take a late night stroll through the French Quarter.
July 22- 28: Night Out on Town
“You know I’ve always wanted to do this.” Sarah said as she walked hand in hand with Bucky down the middle of the street on a humid New Orlean’s night.
“What? Walk the French Quarter?” Bucky guessed, they had spent nearly the whole evening in the area, visiting the museums, the shops, having dinner, then hitting the bars for drinks. Bucky couldn’t get drunk, but he still enjoyed the taste. Sarah, he discovered could hold her drink very well.
“Walking the French Quarter at night….late at night, when most things are closed and some of the tourists are gone.” She clarified. “Usually it’s too dangerous to be out like this, but you make me feel safe.” She squeezed his arm, leaning into him.
He took the moment to kiss her temple. “Thanks, babydoll.”
They walked around in comfortable silence avoiding the remaining promoters who pushed customers into their neon lit bars. There were still some people inside, drinking, laughing while jazz mingled with pop music. All the shops were closed, very few restaurants remained open, trash littered the floor and there were barriers where construction was underway.
Bucky glanced over at a house now converted into a bar. “I get that these businesses bring money, but it’s a shame that a lot of nice houses aren’t just…you know, homes.”
“French Quarter has always been an expensive place to live and after Katrina and gentrification it just got more expensive.” She lamented as she looked around them. “When I was little, I would dream about being a grand lady living in one of those fancy houses. Once when we were staying in one of these hotels with the lovely balconies and I sat out there and waved like a queen to the people below.” She elegantly lifted her arm to demonstrate.
He grinned. “Is it a coincidence that your room at home has access to the balcony?”
She gave him a sly look. “What can I say? I’m a romantic at heart.”
“You want me to climb up to it one day and knock on your window with a bunch of roses?”
“Oh, Bucky don’t tease.” She said even as she blushed at the very idea.
“I’m not teasing,” he assured her, “I would do it in a heartbeat.”
“You’re such a romantic.”
“Nothing wrong with romance.” Suddenly he picked her up, spun her around and waltzed with her in the middle of the street.
She gasped, then laughed, allowing him to take the lead. “You can waltz??”
“A little, so can you.” He said as they danced around.
“I remembered a little from my cotillion days.”
“Cotillion?”
“A party where all the girls wore pretty white dresses and danced with boys in tuxes in front of our community. It was supposed to celebrate our womanhood. Frankly we were just all excited to look fancy and meet some cute boys.”
“Did you meet a cute boy?” He asked.
“Mm-hm, my husband.” She revealed. “He planned it too, that devil. He was supposed to dance with Lisa, but he asked to be switched so he could dance with me.”
He laughed. “Smart guy. He’s a man of good taste.”
“Wasn’t he though?” She agreed. “I will always remember the first song we danced to.”
“Yeah?” He sighed. “Would be nice if we had some appropriate music for us.”
Suddenly a guitar player who had been closing up for the night spotted them and began to play.
“Huh, how about that.” He smiled, nodding at the gentleman who nodded back.
“Don’t you know French Quarter is full of magic?” Sarah grinned as they slowly danced around.
“Well consider me a believer.” He replied before giving her a kiss.
They danced until the music ended, then Bucky gave him a large tip in thanks. The guitar player was collecting his earnings and was putting his instrument back in its case when someone walked past him. The player gasped.
“Hey! Give it back!” He hollered, touching his back pocket before running after the thief who quickly sprinted.
“Stay here.” Bucky told Sarah before taking off after them both, moving with a quickness that was startling.
The guitar player stopped at a corner, shocked. “Wha- How does he run like that??”
Sarah smiled innocently. “He’s…gifted.”
“No shit!”
There was the faint sound of a scuffle that ended with something, or someone, getting shoved violently into a trash receptacle. A few minutes later Bucky jogged back with only a light sheen of sweat on his face. “Here you go. Sorry about that.”
“Nah man, it’s cool. Thanks!” He replied amazed, taking his wallet. Once Bucky turned back to Sarah, the man silently mouthed out, “Is he an Avenger??”
Sarah would’ve loved to be honest but subtly shook her head. “Done playing hero?” she said before they resumed their walk.
“Hey he played for us. It’s the least I could do.” Bucky shrugged. It seemed like no one else noticed what happened. The lampposts gave out their ember glow, the bars still had their neon lights and music still played on.
“You’re very sweet you know that?” she teased, giving him a small kiss on the cheek, then she winced a little. “I loved this night walk, but I think I’m done for the night. My dogs are barking.”
“Here,” He picked her up, carrying her bridal style as he walked with greater purpose back to their temporary abode.
Sarah held onto him. “I didn’t imply that you carry me the rest of the way, you know.”
“I know, but I rather like it.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned over. “My hero.”
Bucky said nothing just smiled and walked them home, leaving the magic of the French Quarter behind.

Two Boots River was not ever a river but in fact a marshy channel that got bogged up by water reeds and slime in the summer season. The residents of St. Bernard’s Parish had called it such before there was a parish for St. Bernard anywhere in sight, and at this point it was a long abandoned fisherman’s route; the overnight shacks lining dotting the route were decrepit and all the best spots for crab traps were infested. No one knew by what, but nobody went there anymore anyway, if they were smart. Unless they were taking a shortcut home, to get back in time for a meeting with a potential investor, which Sarah Wilson had scheduled for tomorrow.
“Fuck,” says the woman in question. “Shit damn. This is what I get for being an idiot.”
She isn’t leaning over the side of the boat because that would be terribly unwise in a gale. It could be a hurricane. Nothing about one in the news, but Sarah wouldn’t bet against that just being her luck.
“Maybe I’ll find those boots,” calls out her companion, over the roaring rainstorm.
“You will not,” Sarah says. She keeps having to swipe water out of her eyes. God, it is terrible out here, and the St. Grace is stuck. She is in one of those positions where she cannot be thankful that they made enough money in the last quarter for her to be able to buy a second boat – not when they could possibly lose it in a freak storm of her own idiocy. “You’ll find a bunch of ghosts, that’s what those boots belong to.”
He eyes the churning muck below them with a detachedly contemplative precision that doesn’t make sense given the hurricane. “It’s not a hurricane,” Bucky says.
“I’m gonna lose my house,” says Sarah, wiping her face again and holding down a rope for dear life, lest the whole thing pick up and fly away. “Please God let my children be in the neighbour’s storm room. You haven’t lived here.”
“I can do ghosts,” he says instead of answering her, and then jumps into the water.
If Sarah were a better person she’d have stopped him, for the sake of his general health. This kind of bog muck in the middle of a storm can kill a person, just as sure as it can get a boat stuck in the middle of fucking nowhere. Sarah throws the line down anyway and swears a bit more to herself because there is no one there but God and the ghosts to hear. After three minutes of the wind’s interminable howling she is sure Bucky Barnes is dead and she has killed him. Then the line goes taut and St. Grace lurches and Sarah nearly falls so hard she breaks her nose.
“Jesus,” she says. They are moving forward, by inches. The braken sludges away around St. Grace’s hull. She’s gonna miss her meeting for sure. “Bucky?” she calls out into the howl of the storm. “James?” They’re moving forward in earnest now. But she can’t really see him. If they’re moving he hasn’t drowned. Sarah is being practical about it.
“James B you better not be dead,” she says.
Bucky pops out of the water about a yard away, black with mud. He’s the wettest equivalent of windswept, like the gale winds were going at him under the water too.
“Fuck,” he says, and spits out muck. The rope is wound tight around his left arm and she can see the strain of exertion in his neck, under the muck. His eyes look frightened by something that is not the storm. Ghosts, probably. The fool. He didn't think, did he. Regardless, Sarah wets her bottom lip, unnecessarily given the storm, and doesn't know why she didn’t fully believe him when he said he'd pull them out by hand. Wildly, for a moment, Sarah wonders: if were her house really to be blown away, could Bucky build her a new one?
But just now his eyes still look frightened -- they are the only part of his face she can really make out -- so she puts that thought out of mind and calls directions out to him over the wind, so they can find safety together.
Blessedly, he hears her.
An hour later they are sheltering in one of those abandoned fisherman’s shacks. Except it’s not abandoned, as there was a can of beans in the pantry and wood for a fire by the stove, also non-moldy blankets closed up in a pretty modern plastic bin.
“I feel like I’m camping,” Sarah says. “Guess I’m not the only person stupid enough to take Two Boots. My meeting …” she sighs, trailing off. She is wrapped in one of the blankets but still has her shorts and t-shirt on, as they didn’t take too much damage under her parka. Bucky’s across from her on the other side of the table, wrapped in the two remaining blankets, which he’s mostly using to cover his left side and damp boxers. They watch his sopping clothes drip slow slow slow onto the floor by the stove fire, together.
“Those are gonna be gross tomorrow,” he says.
“It’s okay,” says Sarah, tired, rubbing one eye and not thinking about it. “I don’t mind you being a little naked.”
She cringes then, because that’s not really fair or appropriate. Bucky came with her because he is technically her employee or something. She’s not sure. Of course he is family, and he isn’t out there superheroing with Sam at present, which he has not called retirement but certainly hasn’t talked much about in a different capacity either. He just showed up one day and Sarah started giving him things to do because Lord knows they needed to be done, and she liked having him around.
She chances a glance at him and he looks mildly amused, save for the traitorous pink flush on his neck, which she figures he can’t help as a white person. Poor thing.
“Sorry,” she says.
“It’s fine,” hasty. “I’m just – the mud brought back bad memories.” She realizes he is trying to apologize for being quiet, which she now realizes could have maybe been read as taciturn or even completely dissociated, but she was so caught in her own worries she really didn’t notice.
“Oh, James,” she says.
“The house will be okay, you know?”
“Will you?”
He grunts. Looks at her a long time. The fire goes on crackling. She looks at the crates in the corner, which hold the engine parts they’d gone to pick up for a little skiff that’ll help St. Grace with the fishing. Sarah is terrible at delegating; someone else could’ve run this route. At the same time, she seems terrible at refusing help lately, too, specific help from a specific person, and it is making her skin itch. Neither of them should be here right now. What if the house blows away? As if to drive this point home thunder cracks outside, so loud it makes itself known through the wind.
“You better not be here because you’re running away,” Sarah says abruptly. Maybe the thunder scared the words out of her. Or the reminder of his ghosts. It’s very hard suddenly to stop herself from climbing over the table and touching him. It would be a grabby touch, the kind that would hold him in place. The thought is embarrassing but Sarah is grown enough to admit to it, and to be righteously angered by the evidence that compels her in that direction, too.
“Running?” Bucky asks. His hair sticks up at the top, in a tuft, where he dried it roughly with the blanket’s edge.
“Cause you’re not out there, you know, but I think you still like superheroing. I think you’ve always been that kind of person.”
That's not the full truth, but the full truth would be callous. And anyway, he can think and understand what he likes about Sarah, too.
“Is this because I said to come with you on this trip?”
“Yeah, Mr. Helpful. Not just me though. Everyone in town. If it was just me I’d say sure, I know the way you look at me, whatever. Men show they like you with all kinds of stupid. But everyone else, too.”
“I’m not a superhero, Sarah.”
“Then what the hell are you, Bucky Barnes?” To me, she means.
He tilts his head and stares at the floor. The light from the fire carves out his cheekbones and lashes and the smudge of bog muck still covering his temple. Sarah is overcome by the urge to cry.
He shrugs. “Family man, I guess.”
“You guess.” Oh. The tears do come.
“Sarah?”
“Yeah, baby.”
“I think I love you.”
Sarah wipes hard at the wetness on her face, annoyed that it is persisting even now that she’s safe from the gale outside. She takes a few deep breaths. “You mean, not just like family.”
“Oh. No. In love, I guess.” His voice has gone terribly soft. “In love with you.”
The fire crackles. The wind gales. They can hear the bell on St. Grace dinging outside where she tosses a bit, even tied down so nicely.
“Yeah? I’m halfway there.” Sarah is surprised by the tenderness in her own voice, considering how this has complicated her world. “Maybe two thirds.”
“I know.”
“So why’d you say it? You could’ve waited.”
“I didn’t know I could. Felt good to say it, I guess.”
“What?” She realizes, “love somebody? Oh my God, Bucky, a blind crab could’ve told me you could love someone.”
He frowns, but there’s humour in his voice when he says, “Yeah, but you could tell ‘cause you’re good at it. I haven’t been any good at it in a while.”
And you just thought to try with me? Is Sarah’s next thought, which is more hateful than he deserves. The wind picks up outside quite suddenly and it feels the shack is about to fly away with it.
“Sarah,” he says again. She does love how he holds her name in his mouth. Sarah gets up and goes over and sits beside him on the chair. It’s not really big enough to hold both of them and their blankets, but they make it work. They both smell. And his left shoulder is uncomfortable to lean her head against, so, after a moment of contemplation, she kisses it instead.
“I’m gonna miss my meeting,” says Sarah, almost in a laugh, and then doesn’t think about much else: the hungry yearning in the room has stopped existing as a ghost. One too many acts of tenderness have breathed life back into it. "Boots are still wet though," she adds, tugging his urgent hands around her waist. The blanket has slipped mostly away from his shoulder now, "yours I mean. Maybe we can split my clothes between us tomorrow."
And it is a silly thought, so they both do laugh, properly this time, like a brighter version of the St. Grace's bell being tossed around in the storm.

Just A Little Fais Do-Do by @tllgrrl aka Nefertiri Jones
Relationships: Sarah Wilson/Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson/Misty Knight | Rated: SFW
Summary: Sam should’ve known he’d have to tell Scott Lang, the man with a hit podcast and a New York Times Best Seller, to keep an invite on the DL.
Didn’t matter. As far as Sarah was concerned, what looked like was now turning into a fais do-do was Sam’s concern because she and Bucky already made alternate plans for their own New Years Party.
* * * * * * * * * *
Sarah and Sam weren’t meaning to have an actual Party on New Years Eve.
Sarah sure wasn’t.
It was supposed to be just Sam and Misty, Sarah and Bucky, and Joaquin Torres, who was invited to come over and to bring a Plus 1 if he had one.
Sam also invited Scott Lange and Hope Van Dyne, who were going to be celebrating New Years Eve in New Orleans anyway. He told them feel free to drop on by if they found themselves overwhelmed by the New Years Eve crowd in “The Big Easy”.
Turns out that Scott casually mentioned to Clint Barton that Sam was “having a little get-together on New Years Eve at his place just outside of New Orleans”.
Clint then mentioned it to Nick Fury, who told Maria Hill, who told Carol Danvers, who mentioned it to Monica Rambeau, who told Jimmy Woo, who had no plans for New Years Eve.
Fury also mentioned it to Dr. Steven Strange.
Carol also mentioned it to Peter Quill and Thor, who mentioned it to Brunhilde.
And the next thing Sam knew, he was getting RSVPs from all over the place...meaning the Galaxy.
He even got an e-mail from Peter Parker, regretfully declining because Aunt May said No.
Sarah looked at the RSVP emails on Sam’s laptop, glared at the man and said, “I love you, Big Bro, but far as my kitchen and I are concerned, I’m closed.
Preparing and cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas and now this?
We were going to have a nice, small, relaxed New Years Eve, and now you want to have a whole-assed fais do-do and fet up in here?
Feel free to cook, have a potluck or call a caterer, then. And you can watch me on the dance floor with my date.”
Fortunately, Sam knew exactly who to call on short notice. He knew there were some perks being Captain America, but this was definitely one of the best.
Keep Reading on AO3

Glossary
fais do-do: a Cajun French term for party, shindig, dancing & drinking.
fet: From the French word fete. A big party.

Thanks for reading my nonsense and foolery this year. I appreciate you more than I can say.
See ya on the other side in 2024!

Bucky Barnes gets a bewitching Halloween treat when Sarah Wilson appears at his doorstep, her face lit up with a brilliant smile. “Trick r’ treat!” she said as their eyes met in a heated gaze.
Title: A Taste So Sweet | Bucky Barnes x Sarah Wilson | Fandom: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Rating: Mature | Words: Part 1/1 (2328 Words) | Prompt: SarahBucky @fleurdelouvemonth and @fleurdelouve - Week 1, Day 1 Prompt: “Halloween Candy”
Tumblr media
Bucky watched in disbelief as group after group of children and teens dressed up as monsters, superheroes, witches, and fairies trooped past his house. He had initially been excited about joining in the festivities surrounding Halloween. Still, he was now feeling overwhelmed at the sheer number of trick-or-treaters that kept anxiously jostling at his front door.
He could hear Sam's voice ringing in his head, telling him to stock up on treats ahead of the evening's activities. On impulse, Bucky had gone to the store and purchased enough candy to fill an entire cauldron - more than enough for the small army of costumed kids parading up his walkway.
After living in New York City for a few years, he was unaccustomed to experiencing Halloween like this. New Orleans' proximity meant that Halloween was taken very seriously here. His neighbors went all out with scary decorations, and some even hosted light shows or static haunts in their garages.
It was the first time Bucky had experienced Halloween in his new neighborhood, and he could feel the excitement from both children and adults alike. He walked into the living room to look at the clock – it was 7 p.m.; he had a few more hours before kids would be done trick-or-treating. After making sure he had enough candy to last until 9 p.m., he set out a sizeable pumpkin-shaped bucket full of treats on a table near the entrance of his door, which he'd grab and provide the little ghouls and goblins who would come by.
One by one, groups of costumed children started arriving at Bucky's house. There were toddlers with their parents, gaggles of elementary schoolers, and even a few high schoolers. Bucky watched them all take turns selecting handfuls of candy from the white bucket he'd set out on the porch. He couldn't help feeling a pang of regret that he'd bought so much candy – but then again, it was worth it just to see how delighted they were.
The most recent group of trick-treaters waved him goodbye as they ran off to his neighbor's house to continue their journey for more candy. Just as he was about to close the door, he spotted a familiar face walking up the sidewalk towards him. It was Sarah, Sam's sister, donning a classic black witch's hat over her long hair and wearing a playful smirk on her face. Their eyes met.
Sarah stood before Bucky, her face lit up with a brilliant smile. “Trick r’ treat!” she said.
He was temporarily stunned by her beauty before composing himself.
"Hey! What are you supposed to be? Aren’t you old for trick-or-treating?" He joked, looking at her costume and wondering why she had come to his neighborhood.
"I'm old enough, thank you very much," She chuckled teasingly, sticking her tongue out playfully. Bucky noticed that Sarah was alone and asked about her boys AJ and Cass.
"Oh, I just dropped them off at a friend's place a few blocks away from here," She answered, grinning shyly as she revealed her true purpose: to visit him. "They're all trick-or-treating together, so I thought I'd swing by and see you."
Bucky felt his heart swell with warmth as he imagined her thinking of him. It was like a dream come true. He opened the door wider to welcome her in, and when she entered, they both erupted into laughter at the sight of all the candy bags he had bought.
"Okay, that's SO much candy! The kids will love you!" Sarah said, still stifling giggles.
"I'm trying to get rid of them," he said sheepishly as he directed her to the bowl on the entry table near the door.
Sarah laughed again at his over-preparedness before following Bucky to his kitchen, where he opened the fridge and asked if she wanted any refreshments.
"I have beer, apple cider, sparkling water..." She accepted his offer enthusiastically with a look of admiration.
"Oh, apple cider would be amazing!"
He twisted open an apple cider for her and handed it across the counter while opening himself a bottle of beer. Bucky could hear children's voices from outside, but there were no trick-or-treaters yet who had arrived and rang his doorbell. There was a small lull before another surge of trick-or-treaters came.
The two caught up so naturally. Bucky could feel an ease in their conversation as Sarah shared stories about her two boys deciding to be Sherlock Holmes and one a t-rex for Halloween. They even talked about the best costumes they've seen so far, reminiscing about their childhood trick-or-treating experiences.
As the night wore on, Bucky found himself completely entranced by Sarah's infectious laughter and sparkling eyes. They moved to the living room couch, sitting side by side in close proximity. He couldn't help but lean in closer to her as she spoke, wanting to absorb every word she said like a sponge.
Suddenly, they were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing. Bucky glanced at his watch and noticed it was getting pretty late - it must have been close to 10 pm already.
"Let me get that," he said quickly, feeling the familiar pang of disappointment when he realized their intimate conversation had come to an end. He stood up and took his bowl of candy before opening the door.
"Trick-or-treat!" A group of four kids dressed as Pokemon with their parents dressed as a Pokemon Trainer greeted him. Bucky smiled warmly and spoke kindly to the little elementary school kids, nodding in approval at their costumes and giving them generous amounts of candy.
Sarah peered over the couch to watch Bucky interact with the children and felt her heart swell with admiration. More and more trick-or-treaters kept coming until it seemed like the line would never end. At one point, Sarah decided to join Bucky in front of the doorway, giving out candy alongside him from a bag she took off the counter.
The line continued for a solid fifteen minutes until another lull came forth and no new trick-or-treaters came by. Bucky closed the door and joined Sarah on the couch as they both flopped down in exhaustion.
"Tiring, huh?" Sarah asked with twinkling eyes as she settled into the spot beside him.
Bucky gave her a sheepish smile and ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. "It feels like it never ends…" He paused and added with a hint of mischief in his voice, "But I don't mind it too much when I have a beautiful woman by my side."
"I..." she was almost taken aback by his forwardness, then her smile widened, revealing small dimples along the sides of her mouth. "You could always just leave the bowl outside and just let them take whatever they want."
"You think that'll work?" His heart raced as he moved closer to her on the couch.
"I think so," she said, her voice low and sultry as she scooted close to him. She grabbed the bowl of candy and rummaged through it.
"Looking for something specific?" he asked her, amused.
"Hmmm... I'm looking for a Hershey's chocolate bar, the white chocolate one." Bucky watched her closely, admiring how graceful her long fingers were as they searched through the bowl.
"There should be a ton there, not many kids picked them when I let them select which candies to get." Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at him, and he felt drawn into her gaze.
"Are you kidding? They're so picky nowadays, huh?" They laughed together, and the room seemed to heat up exponentially with each passing second.
"Ah! I found one! I couldn't pass up all this free candy," Sarah teased as she pulled out a mini white chocolate bar. As she unwrapped it and took a small nibble, Bucky found himself mesmerized by those lush lips and the way they moved around the confection.
"Want a bite?" Sarah asked, catching his gaze and holding out the candy. She slowly bit the bottom of her lip before smiling at him innocently, but there was something else about her expression - an invitation - that made Bucky's stomach flip. He had been wanting to kiss those lips since he'd first seen them curve into that mischievous grin earlier tonight.
Heart pounding, Bucky's gaze slowly moved from Sarah's lips to her eyes. He leaned in, and instead of taking the offered candy, he brushed his lips against hers. They both gasped at the sudden contact, and as if this was a sign, their kiss deepened.
Sarah tasted like chocolate and felt so soft under his fingers as they explored each other's faces and bodies. His hands moved to her hips and pulled her closer until their bodies were flush against each other. Their tongues collided in a passionate dance of desire that left them both breathless when they finally pulled apart.
"That was..." Sarah whispered, trailing off with a sigh.
"Amazing," Bucky finished for her. The air was electric between them, heavy with unspoken longing that neither of them wanted to break.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang again and they jumped apart as if electrocuted, laughter bubbling out of them before they remembered why they were there. As Bucky went to answer the door, his mind was still on the kiss he had shared with Sarah moments ago.
As the night went on and more trick-r-treaters arrived and departed, the couple found themselves alone on the couch, close but not touching. Finally, Bucky spoke up. "Sarah, I know we've been friends only for a short time, but tonight...that kiss...I can't stop thinking about it." Sarah smiled at him from under her eyelashes, and he could see the same desire reflected in her eyes that he was feeling in his own heart. Without another word, their lips met again and this time it was slow and tender - like two puzzle pieces coming together after searching for so long.
Sarah gently pulled away from Bucky and pressed her body against his, her arms wrapping around his neck as though she never wanted to let go. "Bucky... I've always wanted to do this with you," she said softly.
As her lips met him, a spark of electricity coursed through her body. She felt the warmth radiating from his chest and the gentle beat of his heart as she pressed herself closer into him. The kiss grew more passionate with each passing moment, and Sarah felt an intense desire building inside of her.
She reached up to grasp Bucky's face in her hands and trace the outline of it with her fingertips. His long, wavy hair was so soft against her skin that she wanted to keep touching it forever. He repositioned them both on the couch, so she was straddling him with her legs on either side of his thighs.
Sarah could feel Bucky's excitement pressing into her, and his hands moved up under her shirt to explore the warmth of her skin. She gasped at his touch and dug her fingers into his back, wanting this moment to never end.
Suddenly, Bucky pulled away and looked deep into her eyes. In a voice full of longing he whispered "Sarah – I want you" and at that moment, all doubts fled from Sarah's mind - she knew this is what she wanted too.
Without another word, she pressed her lips against his once more and this time they were both overcome with passion. Bucky grabbed her hips and pressed her close to him, their bodies melting together as his fingers ran up her back before unfastening her bra, revealing her creamy skin beneath the moonlight that filtered through the window. She held her breath as his hands moved across her body, exploring every curve with delicate touches and sending sparks of pleasure through her veins. He left trails of fire over her neck as his lips traveled down before lightly brushing over one nipple, eliciting a soft gasp from Sarah's lips.
Just then, Sarah's phone started ringing, and the sound of it shattered the silence in the room like a gunshot. She wanted to ignore it, but she knew it was likely her sons calling to let her know they'd be ready to be picked up soon. With a reluctant groan, she pulled away from Bucky and grabbed her phone, which stopped ringing before she could answer it.
A quick glance confirmed it was indeed her kids, and a text message from her kid's friend's mom indicated that they were done trick-or-treating and ready to be picked up. "I don't wanna go," Sarah said with a sigh.
Bucky wrapped his strong arms around her, giving her a sad smile and planting a kiss on her forehead. His breath tickled her skin as he whispered gently, "Me neither," in response to her words, then attempted to lighten the mood with a joke about their unusual entourage. They both laughed, and Sarah could feel the tension melting like ice in the sun.
Bucky pulled her close and nuzzled against her neck, sending tingles of pleasure down her spine before she reluctantly leaned back from his embrace. She looked into his eyes and saw something that made her heart skip a beat – it was longing, familiar and yet fresh and new at the same time. Locked in each other's gaze, Sarah raised herself to capture Bucky's lips in a soft kiss.
She smiled as she pulled away from him and started gathering her clothes off the floor, nerves suddenly bubbling up inside of her when Sarah realized how bold she had been. Before she could put on her shirt, however, Bucky stood up and stopped her with a gentle hand on her arm. He cupped her face tenderly between his hands and searched for something in her eyes.
"We'll have to finish this later," he murmured softly. Another shiver coursed through Sarah's body as she looked into his beautiful blue eyes, nodding in agreement to his suggestion before leaning forward to give him one last kiss goodbye.
