How I'm recuperating from the finale: fluffy Pokemon AU where the Golden Guard uniform (which I miss seeing, tbh) does not imply anything bad at all

I pet Vincent and Pablo. This Staravia and Fletchinder duo love to hang out in in the art classroom. They hope to one day become immortalised like this Staraptor here.

okay officially done with the old art dumping and now we have something actually recent……..
The Legion with pokemon because yes :)
I like to imagine they all started out with eevees at first. Then one by one, all of them evolved through friendship/love except for Frank’s cause his eevee (much like himself) is a little bastard and had trouble trusting everyone. Eventually, they were able to win each other over through the promise of getting stronger together or some sappy shit like that, and the eevee decided it wanted to be a Jolteon so they did just that. Now the two can be menaces to society together, the group pick up a couple more friends along the way, everyone’s happy, yippeee :D

I have been looking into adopting a Piplup, and I finally found at least two shelters that have responded to my emails, however I don’t know how a Piplup might interact with my Fletchinder, Robin.
I heard Piplups can be a bit prideful and seeing that they are a water type I’m worried that they might irritate Robin and she will try and put them in their place and one or both of them will get hurt. Is there a way to safely introduce them so they can bond before I bring them home.
Also do you have any tips on caring for a Piplup or a water type in general? I have done research but it is just the basics, not a lot of personal experience with caring for one.
oooh, yeah, this might be a little tough. i wouldn't say these two are pokemon that can't coexist, but they'll need a lot of training and supervision. fletchinder are territorial pokemon, especially to other bird pokemon, and piplup have a tendency to try to antagonize and dominate other pokemon.
thankfully, the fact that piplup and fletchinder don't share wild territory (and piplup don't super register as birds to fletchinder) is working in your favor. you'll need to make sure they only form positive associations with each other right from the start. follow your typical pokemon introduction protocols- introducing from behind a door at first, then slowly working up to allowing them to see each other and then interact with each other. be extra cautious when you finally allow them to interact, and be ready to recall them if one of them starts antagonizing the other. you can reward them for interacting nicely with each other- though piplup are notoriously hard to reinforce because they often turn their nose up at treats- and definitely don't let them battle or train with each other until they're comfortably nonaggressive around each other.
as far as piplup care, one of the big things is regular access to a large enough body of water to swim in, and in particular it needs to be cold water. warm water makes them overheat. they really enjoy enrichment that allows them to dive and chase after toys and food, and swimming with them is one of the better ways to bond with them!

Three birds.
I don’t know where I was going with this when drawing it, so this is how it ended up. I don’t even know what’s going on. Heh…
Also, my first art of 2024.
