"fuck," came katsuki's voice from the confines of your little kitchen.

"something wrong?" you called as you looked up from your position seated at the kitchen island. an edition of pros+ was open on the marble countertop before you, its gleaming pages showing pictures of various heroes posing for various collabs. you'd been lingering on the sections about dynamight, teasing katsuki with certain lines that amused you.

katsuki grumbled under his breath, lifting one of his hands to ruffle at his spiky hair. from your seat, you could see the outlines of his back through his black tank top. grey sweats hung lowly on his hips. he made a tch sound, his head bent forwards as he looked down at the stovetop before him.

"yolk fuckin' broke," he muttered. there was a scraping sound as he moved the spatula in his hand around the pan.

you shrugged and looked back down at the picture of katsuki you were admiring. pinched brows were pulled down as he frowned at the camera. "scramble them or something."

"'m not gonna fuckin' scramble 'em," katsuki said, offended. "that's not how y'make proper scrambled eggs."

"it is if the yolk broke," you replied, shooting him a grin when he casted a glare at you over his shoulder. he grumbled something indecipherable under his breath and turned back to the stove.

"yer the one who wanted sunny-side up eggs." he switched the spatula to his other hand so he could reach out and grab a fresh egg from the carton next to him. in a single motion, he cracked it on the edge of the counter and dropped it neatly into the pan. it sizzled and popped upon contact. you flipped to another page in the magazine as katsuki tossed the shell into the trash.

the toaster let out a ding! that made you jump slightly and look up. you slid off of the stool you were perched on, rounded the island to grab the two pieces of finished toast, and placed them neatly on the plate you'd set out. there were already six pieces of buttered toast on it—most of them for katsuki. you buttered the two pieces of crunchy brown bread and moved to set the plate in the middle of the island. you then walked over to grab two small bowls from the cupboard so you could spoon out some jasmine rice from the rice cooker.

the smell of eggs, rice, and bread mixed pleasantly together in the air, making your stomach rumble quietly. lazy morning light spilled gently through the open windows of the living room. you set the two filled bowls on the island just as katsuki turned off the stove with a click. you then grabbed two plates and pairs of chopsticks and positioned them across from each other. katsuki approached the island with the pan and spatula in his hands just as you sat back down.

"still readin' that shit?" katsuki frowned as his eyes flicked over at the pros+ edition on the island. you grabbed it so you could set it off to the side, a small grin on your face.

"what?" you asked amusedly. "i can't admire pictures of my boyfriend? you look so good in them."

his ears tinged a red that matched his eyes. he looked down at the pan so he could scoop out the eggs on it and set them neatly on the plates you'd set out. "'m right here," he mumbled—quietly. your gaze softened at his words.

"mmhm," you hummed, "i know." his lips twisted into a pout that disappeared as he turned to head back to the stove. you watched him for a moment, then looked down at your plate so you could grab a piece of toast.

"oh!" you blinked down at the full yolk that sat on your plate—lightly seasoned and round like the sun. a quick glance at his plate showed you the sunny-side up egg that'd broke, the yolk a sad mix that intertwined with its white companion. "you didn't have to give me the unbroken one—i don't mind."

katsuki gave you a look as he walked back to the island with a plate of filleted fish he'd cooked before the eggs. he placed it between the two of you and sat down heavily across from you. "ya wanted sunny-side up. why would i give you the broken one?" he said it like it was obvious.

you blinked at him, lost for words, and shrugged. "i dunno. why would you take the broken one?"

he frowned at your words and looked down so he could grab his chopsticks. "quit askin' questions 'nd eat your food."

you took a moment to quietly watch him—the flush that crawled up the bare skin of his neck, the adamance with which he refused to look at you. then you picked up your own chopsticks, a faint smile on your face.

"well," you said gently as he glanced quickly up at you then away so he could place a piece of fish on your plate, "thank you for the food."

There was that adult nerd streamer Katsuki from @willowser who is just chills in Kaminari's streams as a friend when they play but he doesnt stream himself, no social media presence, no name, just makes snarky comments in the group discord and leaves

Well you know how u can have twitch synced with discord so discord shows when you're playing a game etc? And you just stream for fun on the rare occasion you want company but you maybe have like 50 followers and chat is mostly dead and it's always the same like three or four people cycling through your twitch chat as you play

Now, Subnautica isnt really a horror game... but it can be spooky as all fuck and it's got some good jump scares. One of which made me shit my pants when I played bc I'm an oblivious fuck trying to ignore warning signs and just scoot in the water with my little water car thing

And this sneaky fucker Bakugo has seen you reply to his comments on discord, he gets the @ pings. And he sees you're playing a spooky-ish game and on a whim searches up the game on twitch and sorts by lowest viewers.

And of fucking course your discord name is the exact same as your twitch handle. And mr. Smartass just hops into your twitch chat

"Ok sooooo we are just going to ignore the uh, roaring noises... dont like those. Unimportant. We gotta find some gold I think..."

And his twitch handle is known bc tons of people watch Kaminari's stream and see his friends names and they all follow each other on twitch despite Katsuki never streaming himself. And everyone in your chat recognizes him as he just

Ofc you're distracted because how the *fuck* did he find your twitch?! The discord connection just doesnt pop into your brain as you flip between the game and not ramming your seatruck into a rock wall and the chat.

And the distraction and his presence in chat is perfectly timed with your seatruck being snatched by some giant nasty mandibles and THISBFUCKER fills your screen

This nasty bitch right here. Hate this fish. Anyway you fucking scream and pause the game and nearly tip over your chair bc this fishy shit shakes your dinky little submarine like a dog ripping the stuffing out of a toy.

And the chat is keysmashing and posting laughing emotes bc you arent even at your desk anymore but the mic still picks up the "jesus FUCKING CHRIST what the FUCK gooood I haaaaaaate it..."

And on Katsuki's end, he's choking on his drink and cant remember the last time he laughed so damn hard and the timing and everything. It was the perfect moment for a twitch clip to immortalize it. He knows Kaminari's humor and his stupid jokes. Knows what to expect, but the genuine jumoscare moment as your mic peaked... honestly a twitch highlight for him.

After that he tunes into your streams when he can, sometimes silently so you never know he's there. Other times he speaks up in chat to link that clip and comment on in-game happenings. But your forever embarrassed bc damn what a first impression... but the stupid fucking fish was about 2% less scary after that so long as you know he's watching

I’m about to share my unpopular opinion here. Bakugou’s kidnapping should have been the beginning of the end of his hero career, his fall from grace.

Why?

Because the literal scum of Japan view him as one of them. They saw themselves in a hero student.

That should have been enough to get the (trashy irresponsible neglectful) faculty to do some investigations into Bakugou’s behavior and reflect on how much let let him slide without consequences.

And let’s face it, even with Aizawa vouching for him, social media is a place where scandals, incidents, theories, and opinions thrive. We were already introduced to the world of journalism in MHA when the camera quirk journalist wanted to do interviews with class 1A students and how they were willing to breach UA’s security defenses when they heard All Might was teaching there. So it wouldn’t be far fetched to assume that journalists would be interested in an inside scoop.

Articles, meta analysis, and social media posts would be likely to surface, all commenting on how villains sympathize with a person who is supposed to be an aspiring hero, before they all reach the same conclusion; the sports festival.

Disdain would follow soon after. Because to the general public, the LOV targeted Bakugou because he very much acted like a villain. And then things will slowly begin to make sense.

I know this seems like reaching, but I find it very likely for UA to be blamed as well. Not only for the kidnapping taking place but also never stepping in or making any progress in shaping Bakugou up. People will see this and begin to wonder ‘How many villain hopefuls is UA responsible for creating. This will lead to UA having to change policies. To what exactly, I’m not sure.

But one conclusion is clear, either Bakugou is put on academic probation until a police investigation is complete (Again, this is a student who villains thought would make a great addition to the team. That should have been taken more seriously other than a gloss over by Nedzu), or he is removed from the hero course all together.

Either way each result will end in the same way, Bakugou’s reputation would be in shambles (if it wasn’t already due to the sports festival), no one would be able to trust him, and his PR would crumble before it even started. And PR ratings are an extremely important part of heroics that people don’t give enough credit. It doesn’t matter how strong, skilled or smart his is or how much potential he has. A poor PR rating is enough to keep him from rising through the ranks. So his dream of being number one will likely never become a reality.

This incident will very likely follow him for a long time. Even if the hype dies down, any wrong move cause him to lose everything. Let’s be realistic here: we all know how prevalent cancel culture is around the world right? Well, I think it’d be the same situation Bakugou finds himself in. The media will likely watch him like a hawk. Waiting for a mistake or slip up. At any given moment, Bakugou can find himself cancelled just like that. It’s like a metaphorical sword above his head.

On the topic of his friendships and how the class perceives him? I don’t think they’d think badly of him right away. I mean they were all worried about him and some were actually willing to save him. But, they’re bound to be exposed to some mainstream media. They’re teenagers, so they probably have a lot of social media exposure. Just imagine the realization and then the horror.

I’m not saying hear me out, but hear me out.

I think I’ve seen an ask like this on another’s page… Well, while I agree with the sentiment, I disagree. In In-universe, people had bigger issues to deal with than Bakagou; the number one hero was retired and because of that, crime was rising again. Everyone is wondering who is going to be the next #1 and if will he be able to fill All Might’s shoes? At this point, Bakagou meant nothing to them. And even if he did, Bakagou had pity points for being kidnapped and Aizawa’s speech. But yeah, UA should be under hella scrutiny for not just the kidnapping and not curbing Bakagou’s attitude after the sports festival. (Though to be fair to the porcupine, outside of the final exam and a few rude comments, Bakagou didn’t act up as much. Plus, during the sports festival, they encouraged dirty fighting, which is why they didn’t react much there.) Twice the same class was attacked, and once it happened outside of school, proving that they were targets. Yet safety measures were only being taken when a student that a school filled with pro-heroes failed to protect. And let’s be honest, if you’re a reporter, what’s the more interesting story? A teenager who acted like a brat and got kidnapped, or a hero school that’s incapable of protecting its students either due to negligence or incompetence. That being said, if Bakagou fucked up again they would be swooping in like vultures on him.
