Jen first met Trip while volunteering at Professor Rowan's pokemon camp during her route through Sinnoh. His attitude was pretty much as she saw in the anime.

During the camp, Jen fought and caught an angry Garchomp that was improperly released. Trip saw that she wasn't just an average trainer and demanded to travel with her.

"I'm doing Unova for my next journey. You can join me then, without the attitude."

I met little Serena at Prof. Oak's pokemon camp. I was at the camp myself as a volunteer. Similar to the anime, I found her after she got lost. Unfortunately that's when a wild Nidoking came crashing in. I left quite an impression on Serena by using all I had to keep running ahead while shielding her.
