About us!

James is the founder and principal instructor of the Goliath Historical Fencing Academy. He began fencing in 2009, after being inspired by the film Reclaiming The Blade. At Goliath, he instructs several weapons systems including longsword, rapier, dagger, unarmed combat, quarterstaff and halberd. He has taught at private seminars at major fencing events in Europe and Canada as well as across the US.

Jess Finley has had a sword in her hand for the past twenty years. Her initial interest was in stage combat, but not too long after beginning that pursuit began to ask "... but how did they really fight?" From that question, she branched out to German Medieval Martial Arts after being accepted as a student by Christian Tobler, who remains her mentor to this day. She is the head instructor at Ritterkunst Turnhalle in Lawrence, Kansas. She has taught and competed internationally as well as private intensives at her home. She also has a background studying Judo under the tutelage of Arden Cowherd of Topeka Judo Club.

She is a published author, having written a book entitled "Medieval Wrestling" on the fifteenth century Master Ott's wrestling treatise of German wrestling techniques.. She also researches medieval clothing construction and fabric armor, and has presented her findings at the International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo and published an article in Medieval Clothing and Textiles (Boydell and Brewer) on her study of a 15th century quilted armor.

The first four images are from Camassia, a small nature park off of I-105 in West Linn, OR. This area once included a quarry, but now the fens only host raised boardwalks for visitors to use. Peak bloom occurs in late March, featuring mats of Camas, Sea Blush, and Blue eyed Mary inhabiting the rocky fens. Trilliums and Wood violets can be found in the shade. Pets sadly cannot access this sensitive park, and if you see someone off trail yell at them for me! I moved away, and its important to me that people keep scolding those who go off trail. Its a very sensitive area!

These grassy hills are farther south in the Willamette Valley, part of the marshy Oregon prairies protected by Finley National Wildlife Refuge. It is open to the public and can be accessed by exiting I-5 into Corvallis and taking the 99 West Highway south. Active conservation efforts have begun to bear fruit as Checker Mallow and Golden Paintbrush have been reintroduced to the area, alongside the plentiful wild iris. Peak bloom is more mid-march, but the local elk herd and migrating bird populations offer interesting sights year round. As best as I recall leashed pets are permitted, and there are restrooms, the conservation center, trails and open meadows. Please respect the local wildlife and keep a safe distance. If you're cautious and lucky you might spot the local bobcat in the woods. Be nice! Tagging @draconym to share photos, sorry it took an age to get the spoons. ^_^;

Its like a 45 minute loop walk. very small #its fine to go in just don't expect loads of parking #if you're in the area I highly recommend Finley Wildlife Reserve it gets overlooked but is really nice #the bird viewing hide and boardwalk up to it is a real treat for birdwatchers and bug nuts in the summer #honestly I can't say enough nice things about these places XD #as a warning though Camassia doesn't have much in the way of accessibility assistance #Finley does and has some areas that may be wheelchair friendly when dry but I can't verify it

A/N: Three tsuns in a row! Jonah and Finley together are the best XD. They bonded over their mutual love for Luka and Finley sneaks him cookies and treats that Luka has baked from time to time.

He’d witnessed her sneaking up to the table multiple times. It was calculative, always right between when the staff had set new glasses on the cloth and when they stepped away to attend to the guests. She slipped up, taking as many as she could hug to her chest without spilling them and then disappearing into the rose garden. Jonah was previously in conversation with a nobleman or being introduced to a daughter of some socialite, but not this final time.

This event held strictly by the Red Army and yet somehow, the young Godspeed had gotten herself inside. He’d have to speak to the soldiers and staff checking invitations in the morning. Although Jonah already knew the reason she had been let inside. Everyone in Cradle who met her were charmed instantly, and it didn’t hurt that Edgar and Kyle tended to dote on her, which many were aware of.

No one went beyond the designated area of the party. It was an unspoken rule that no one dared break, save for one little Black Territory girl. Jonah stepped over the empty glasses, absolutely horrified with the amount. Nearly fifteen, if he counted correctly.

And in the middle, laid the amethyst haired girl on her stomach, small hand clutching a near drained crystal glass.

“Finley, how much eggnog have you had?” Surely, she hadn’t consumed all of these. That would be preposterous. There’s simply no way. The Queen of Hearts crouched when the only response was a weak groan. “You’ve made yourself ill, haven’t you?”

The girl cracked her eyes open, giving him a dazed smile. “Worth it. I love eggnog so much, but Luka hides it from me.” She looked every bit the child that successfully stole all the cookies from the jar without being caught. The next moment the happy expression dropped, and she groaned again.

Jonah gave a sigh. “I cannot allow you to fall asleep here in the gardens, lest you catch a cold. I’ll send a message for someone to retrieve you.” He spoke but didn’t rise. Amber eyes assessing the small girl with muted affection. He cared little for the Ace of Spades, but his daughter was well liked by all, including himself.

“Do you think I’m half made of eggnog now? Instead of blood, I’m just a delicious seasonal drink that tastes like spicy ice cream.” Finley tried to laugh but it made her tummy ache even more.

“Perhaps I should find Kyle to treat you-”

She thrust her hand forward, pointing further down the row of rosebushes. “Kyle drank too much again. He was asleep when I found this hiding spot.” True to her word, the Seven of Hearts was unceremoniously splayed, one leg awkwardly bent against the bush, and completely incapacitated.

Jonah pinched the bridge of his nose, utterly appalled at his fellow officer, although not entirely surprised. “That absolute fool.”

“I think I want to go home, Jonah.” She struggled to move her limbs, barely moving onto all fours before he’d plucked her up, careful to not make her sicker.

“That’s for the best. Let’s go.”

The girl rested her cheek against his shoulder, arms limply around his neck. A soldier was quickly dispatched to bring a Black Army member to retrieve her. In the meantime, Jonah found a quiet room in the Civic Center to wait with her. He couldn’t very well have their guests seeing a child in this state. It could reflect badly on his King.

“While we wait, you can disclose why you sneaked into this event.” He thought to reprimand her for it, but it would hardly do any good. The Ace of Spades gave her a little too much freedom, and he’d likely laugh off the situation.

“Well, I wanted to see Eden, but I remembered it was too cold for her to be outside. I’d be really sad if she got sick again.” Finley said, swinging her legs.

Jonah knew how much the young Bright was adored by all the other children, especially this one. Unlike her father, Eden was a sweet girl, and even the Queen of Hearts found himself doting on her from time to time.

“But then, I heard the staff say there was going to be eggnog, the fancy kind, like Luka makes. It was tasty, but Luka’s is better.”

He nodded his head at her remark. “Agreed. My angel brother has a special touch when it comes to cooking.” The topic at hand was what brought this odd pair together. They both shared stories about Luka on the rare occasion they were together.

“Please stop. It’s completely embarrassing.”

“Luka!” Both adult and child lit up at the Jack of Spades by the door with a frown on his features.

Irritation reflected in amber eyes. Luka caught the five-year-old as his brother nearly dropped her. Having completed his mission to obtain her, he turned to leave.

“You should say thank you. Jonah helped me-”

With his free hand, Luka lightly pinched his fingers into her side, causing her to jolt and laugh. “You’re the one who disappeared hours ago. Stop slipping from your detail.” Fenrir hadn’t been worried, but the rest of them had been, although, she disappeared often.

The girl continued to laugh until her expression turned sour. Her hand covered her mouth, and she paled. “My tummy still hurts.”

“That’s what happens when you overindulge,” Jonah chastised. He escorted the pair outside, etching the image of his adorable little brother bickering with the little girl. Luka tended to be on the quiet side, but not with Finley.

Luka set her up on the saddle of his horse, casting a glance back at his brother. “Fenrir will appreciate you taking care of her.” That was as close to thank you as he could muster.

But it elated the Queen of Hearts. Amber eyes fell on the young Godspeed. He’d never liked dealing with children other than his own little angels, but this one was quite the charmer. Luka guided the horse toward Black Territory and just before they were out of sight, Finley leaned around to wave at him.

“Merry Christmas, Jonah!”

As he returned the gesture, he barely heard the conversation shift. Luka, can you make me a snack when we get back? He’d begun to assume that she was a human black hole when it came to food. Both the brothers had matching amused expressions. No matter how troublesome she might be, no one was resistant to her charisma.

It was one of those beautiful sunny days at the Edgewater estate, the birds sang in a alluring melody, the flowers danced gracefully in the wind, and water of the lake sparkled in the sunlight.

Inside the manor, the Earl of Edgewater and his daughter, Viscountess Charity of Edgewater were sat, having a cup of tea, the young heiress was coming of age, well she was 19 in a matter of weeks, even if it her fathers eyes, she was still his little girl. The Earl had recently noticed the joy and lovesick look his daughter had on her face when Ernest Sinclaire, the son of the Master and Mistress of Ledford Park was around, it brought joy to his heart, thinking that his daughter may be in love.

“We have a dinner with the Sinclaires, Parsons, Holloways and Andersons tomorrow” The Earl commented as his daughter ate a bit of cake, and her eyes lit up slightly.

“I can’t wait to see Ernest” Viscountess Charity commented, making her fathers mouth twitch into a smile as he sipped on his tea.

“You like him, don’t you my dear?” Her father commented affectionately making the young girl blush, shaking her head at her father, he knew her far too well, didn’t he?

“He has always looked after me, father. Ever since I was a small girl, he was always there for me” She had a adoring gaze as she spoke about him.

“He is rather fond of you, my darling” Her father commented, and the young girl looked up, brushing a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear, and she smiled, Ernest was quite fond of her, wasn’t he she thought to herself.

“I’m quite fond of him, father” She beamed and the Earl placed his hand on his daughters hand, and she looked at him.

“One day, if you ever wanted to court him, I would allow it” She looked up to her father, blushing crimson.

“Father!” She exclaimed, would she want to court her best friend? Is it really one of those things that the future Countess of Edgewater was ready for?

“My darling, you are soon going to be coming of age, and when you are ready, I will completely support you in finding someone who can love you the way I love your mother. You deserve to find a partner who will make you happy” The Earl’s words were gentle and loving, and she knew she had her fathers support and at this point in her life, that is all she felt she needed.

“But father, all the love I need I get from you, Mama and Grandmother” She comments and the sweet innocence his daughter had made him smile, she was the most precious possession her father had, he loved her and he never wanted the young girl to feel forced into anything, he was what they call modern in that way.

“I know my darling, but one day, it will be required for you to be married the way I married your mother, its your way to seal your future as the Countess of Edgewater, but please don’t think I am forcing this on you when your not ready” He paused as touched her cheek, running his thumb gently across her cheek. “When you are ready to take that step, my darling, me and your mother will support you” He placed a kiss on her forehead.

“Thank you, father” She whispers and she kissed his cheek.

“You are most welcome, my beautiful girl” The affectionate tone to her fathers voice always made her feel safe and at ease but he sensed something was bothering her and he sat next to her, and one hand rubbed her back.

“My darling, what’s the matter? Has our talk made you feel uncomfortable” He asked concerned and the young girl shook her head.

“No father, its just me and Felicity Holloway do not get on well, she is always making fun of me and saying someone like Ernest would never look at me, and always look down at me” Charity commented and the Earl rubbed his daughter back gently.

“I know she is rather difficult and obnoxious, my darling, but if she says anything out of line, just tell your grandmother or mother” The Earl comforts his daughter.

“Will you speak to them?” Charity asks and her father nods.

“Of course, my darling. I won’t have her making my own daughter feel uncomfortable in her own home” Her father assured and ran the back of his knuckle over her cheek and she smiled.

“Thank you, Father” She smiled and they sat in a comfortable silence before her father spoke up.

“You get on with the Parsons girls, don’t you?” He asks, with a knowing smile and Charity smiles and nods.

“Of course I do father, Annabelle, Cordelia, Constance are my friends” She beamed and he chuckled.

“You sure your not just saying that because Annabelle gave you a puppy?” Her father jokes and Charity beams.

“Of course not” she looks over to the pug who’s ears have perked up and he waddles over, barking lightly and Charity scoops the puppy in her arms, and she sits him on her lap, before she takes a sip of tea.

“Don’t let your mother, grandmother, Mrs Finley or Mrs Daly see you with Pugsly on the table, they will surely have a fit, if i know my wife, mother, our head of kitchen and your old governess well enough” The Earl chuckles.

“Father, Mrs Daly is more than just my old governess, she is Mamas friend and she is the mother of my own best friend” Charity chuckled as she scratched the pug behind his ears.

“That is very true” The Earl agreed and they finished their tea before the ‘bastard’ of the estate, Harry, walked in.

“Father, may I have a bit of your time?” The 13 year old asks.

“I’m going to have a walk around the gardens Father, maybe see if I can see Ernest over the fence” Charity excused herself, picking the pug up as she stood up before she kissed the Earl’s forehead.

“See you at dinner, my darling, if not before” The Earl uttered softly and the heir to the estate curtsied and she left the room, putting the pug down and she walked out the estate, Pugsly hot on her heels as she walked across to the point where Edgewater and Ledford Park met, Ernest was a handsome man, he had brown curls for his hair, piercing blue eyes and a heart of gold, her parents called Ernest her destined to be sweetheart because the two got on so well, and there was already a existing affection.

“Good afternoon, my lady” The Ledford master of horse called out and Ernest turned around, setting his eyes on the brown haired beauty, she had the most beautiful curls in her hair, the most alluring hazel eyes, the brightest smile that could put the sun to shame.

“Good afternoon, Mr Andrews, how are your wife and baby?” The Lady of Edgewater was polite to a fault, she was chatty and she always loved to converse with servants, she was humble, brought up to be humble and down to earth by her father.

“My wife is well, thank you, as is the lass, we named her Natasha” The man beamed.

“What a beautiful name for what can only be a beautiful babe” Charity commented making the master of horse to Ledford Park smile.

“Thank you, my lady. Your a credit to your father” He comments, before looking at Ernest with knowing eyes, “My lady, forgive me, but I must tend to the horses” He bowed his head, pulling the horse gently with him.

“Good day, Mr Sinclaire” Lady Charity beams and Ernest approaches her.

“Good afternoon, my lady. How has your day been?” Ernest asked, basking in the beautiful sight before him.

“It has been rather splendid, I had a horse ride with my brother this morning, then had lunch with my grandmother and then a tea with my father” The young Viscountess of Edgewater commented.

“My father, mother and I are coming across to Edgewater tomorrow evening, i am rather keen to hear you sing” Ernest conversed and Charity blushed.

“As are the Parsons, Andersons and the Holloways” Charity added.

“Ah yes, the Holloways” Ernest shuddered, for some reason, the daughter of the Viscount was rather, how do we say this, unbearable, anyone in their right mind knew Ernest couldn’t marry someone so arrogant and spoilt, and those dear to him knew he only had eyes for Vincent Foredale, Earl of Edgewater, daughter, for she was intriguing like a book, and there was something so endearing about her.

“And the Andersons and Parsons” Charity reminded him, the Andersons were new in the Sinclaire and Foredale social circle but their 4 children definitely were intriguing to the two families, whereas the Parsons were the most dearest friends of the Sinclaire’s and Foredales.

“I cannot wait for tomorrow night, it should be rather acceptable” Ernest commented, still looking at the beautiful young lady in-front of him.

“I shall be sure to dress to impress” Charity immediately regretted saying that but Ernest chuckled, she was really something.

“Till tomorrow night, my lady” Ernest kissed the back of her hand tenderly, making her heart swell and she curtsies before walking back into the estate, in a giddy manner, rather excited for tomorrow night.

How are you doing?

I was tagged by the wonderful @pedropascalito and @cable-kenobi thank you!!

1. How has your day been?

Pretty busy, I had a very full afternoon of patients (thirty of them so I almost died) and one of them had an ocular std that I was in no way prepared to discuss today so it’s just been a bit of a spiral because, hey, Monday!

2. What’s the last thing that made you smile?

I stopped at our local pet supply store to pick up a special treat for Finley because tomorrow is his (presumed) 2nd birthday! He’s getting pumpkin bacon ice cream and a new benebone and I think he’s going to be ecstatic.

3. What’s keeping you entertained these days?

I’ve been writing a lot! I’ve also been watching a lot of Disney+. I’m thinking about starting The Clone Wars because I still haven’t seen it, and I feel like that’s illegal. I'm also about 35 seconds away from starting the new Mandalorian BTS series and I cannot wait.

4. If you are in some kind of quarantine/isolation, is there anything you’d like to achieve in this time?

I’m still seeing patients five days a week, but it’s a much shorter schedule. My goal was to post a fic, and look where we are now! I’m planning on going back to my early Mando stuff and fixing that up a bit, maybe fixing up the fem!mando clone au a bit too. I’m also trying to migrate everything onto ao3 as well and lemme tell you that is some work.

5. Post a selfie (if you’re comfortable with that)!

This is the last selfie I took and if I look mad, it’s cause I am. This was after last Monday with that patient I wanted to yeet into the sun... Monday’s aren’t for me 😂

Sophie really is the glue of her family jesus, but she is going to break eventually.

Finn is a really good friend for being there.

Is it bad that I am not a huge fan of considering the child in me regardless of my gender identity as being dead. It makes me super uncomfortable to think that a part of me being is nonexistent. That is just a personal thing though that is not true for everyone who is trans and/or nonbinary.

Who is Carrie? Also Tina knew that shit was going to sting.

Drew could actually be good for the longevity of this tv show and brand. He might be a bit out of touch and unaware but that is because he is straight white man.

It is nice to see Gigi and Nat actually communicating about how their relationship ultimately failed due to yes infidelity and lack of talking.

Thankyou Fin some good fucking advice. You cannot tell someone they do not have to be there and then be upset that they aren't there. Your partner is not a mind reader use your mouth, because even Dani asked like 3 times to go with you.

Me to Fin in this episode so far

Shane please show up and please come save your wife. This is why I could not be a celebrity everyone whispering to me while I'm in a public place. Whew she just late and this is a good thing, talking is good. Chiara is going to be a good mom whether Shane acts as a second parent or a Uncle.

BACKGROUND

from the moment finley bauer was born , animals have been at the epicentre of her life . you see , finley bauer was born on march 25th 2000 in durban , south africa to charlotte and ragnar bauer . both of who have dedicated their lives to researching , rehabilitating & preserving the wildlife of africa . charlotte bauer worked for a rehabilitation centre for turtles & ragnar bauer worked as a ranger in kruger national park . so it was no surprise that finley followed in both of their footsteps when it came to their love of animals . animals to finley , no matter how big or small , were ( and still are ) the most special and precious creatures in the world and should be looked after no matter what . it was the first thing she ever really understood and the first thing her parents taught her .

throughout her childhood , finley lived a life many may have envied for one reason or another . for the most part , she had lived with her mother in st lucia where she spent the majority of her free time with her mother at the turtle sanctuary she worked at learning and helping in any way she could . but once the school holidays rolled around … finley traveled the 5 hour journey up to kruger national park to spend the weeks with her father . those , if she was being honest , were her favourite moments of all time . she was only quite young but her father allowed her to not only go on tour after tour with him but she was even allowed to witness some of the most heart warming scenes of the rehabilitation of many animals that had been injured by poachers . it was moments like that , that really cemented in her from an early age about what she wanted to do in life . all she wanted was to be able to help animals in the way her parents did and there was nothing that was going to stop her and becoming a wildlife vet was exactly how she was going to do it .

but at the age of twelve , finley’s life was moved half way across the world due to her mother getting a new job — one in her home town of coston , north carolina . if finley had it her way , she would have stayed with her dad . moving from sous africa , her home , was the last thing she wanted to do but both her parents agreed that kruger national park wasn’t the best place to raise a child so finley swapped her life in south africa for one in coston , north carolina in the united states .

it was an adjustment to say the least . moving to a new town was hard enough to begin with but throw in a small town where everybody knows everybody & a slightly odd pre-teen with a different accent and it makes it even harder . but finley tried to make the best out of a not so great situation , after all if there was one thing that finley bauer was it was adaptable . her parents always thought she was one of the most laidback energetic kids they’d ever known . she had that seemed to last for hours on end and was open to just about anything in the world — something of which they said was a blessing and a curse because adaptable may be something finley is but trouble would have to be the word that describes her perfectly . no matter what , trouble seemed to find her and she seemed to find trouble . which may have been one reason why it wasn’t all that long before finley fell in step with the pogues like she’d been there from the beginning . south africa may always be home to finley but coston quickly became one of her favourite places in the world once she started to settle in .

not much changed throughout her teen years . she was still getting up to mischief , still exploring the world around her and most importantly , still working towards becoming a wildlife vet . not once did the promise she made to her father when she was only 6 years old waiver . it was just about the only thing she took deadly serious in her life . between studying and signing herself up for beach cleans , volunteering for N.E.S.T every year when it came to laying and hatching season , advocating for not only animal rights but human rights as well , it was any wonder that she did find time to be dragged into pogue shenanigans . but somehow she did because the pogues quickly became like a second family to her . she would do anything for any one of them .

which was why once college came around finley found it so hard to leave . she’d thought leaving south africa was hard , but leaving coston and the pogues behind for college ? she had never remembered crying so hard . all she could do was remind herself that this was what she wanted . she wanted to go to college . she wanted to study zoology so she could get into veterinary school . because without it , her dream of helping save wildlife would never come true . plus , it wasn’t like she’d never see them again . she’d only applied for a college on the main land that had an outstanding reputation in science fields , which meant her friends and mum were only a ferry ride away from her if she ever got homesick . it was almost like she’d never left .

PERSONALITY & EXTRAS

a pogue but could also cross over into kook territory if she REALLY wanted to , but this just in : she doesn’t want to . she , her mum and her mum’s boyfriend who’s been living with them for the past 6 years all live on the outskirts of town in a nice little comfortable 2 story home . the bauer family is nowhere near struggling but they’re nowhere near able to live in figure 8 .

a literal ball of energy . has a hard time keeping still . you’ll catch her leg bouncing if she sits for longer than 5 minutes but it’s fine !! give her a little prod and she’ll give you a lil sheepish smile before quitting it …… until about 3 seconds later

v bubbly v friendly . will talk to just about anyone if they don’t give off dodgy vibes . basically just a lil ray of sunshine .

one of the most laidback people you’ll meet . planning isn’t really her thing , she’s a go with the flow kinda gal !! has been caught saying , it’ll be right far too many times in her life even when things have in fact not been right in the end .

will give just about anything a go . believes that an oops is better than a what if . which is exactly why she’s gotten in trouble more times than anyone can count .

loyal to a fault !! will have the back of anyone she loves till she dies . once you have finley on your side , there’s no getting rid of her . she’d kill for the people she loved .

i say she’d kill for the people she loved …. but she really is more on the pacifistic side of things . but at the end of the day , she would fight someone if that was the only thing left to do . she’s kind up to a point . she’s friendly up to a point . she’s helpful up to a point . she’s no doormat that people can walk over .

not that one may ever think that finley bauer was a doormat . because she ? she can be loud ! she can make her opinion heard ! if she doesn’t like something , she’ll say it outright . she can have a real mouth on her .

you’d think she’d be vegan but …. no . the only thing she doesn’t eat is red meat but everything else ? she calls it her personal downfall . but she does try to keep her meat intake down to a minimum . she just has a weakness for seafood okay , no one is more sorry than her . she’ll only eat it if it’s sustainably sourced though so that’s 1 thing

wears a necklace 24/7 that has an elephant pendant that she got from her father for her 10th birthday .

has a big cats paw print ribcage tattoo on her left side ( this position but ... a paw print )

judges people on how they treat animals and how animals react to them . she will immediately distrust you if you don’t like animals .

has an australian shepherd called rafi aka rafiki ( originally was named scout but she wasn’t having that ) when he was only 2 and she 15

wants to eventually specialise in big cats ( lions , cheetahs , etc. ) or elephants but she has MANY years to figure that out

will watch every nature / wildlife documentary in the world even though she knows they’ll make her cry like a little baby

is fluent in afrikaans but since limited people in the world actually speak it she .... only sometimes speaks it with her family

@delphwrites - Delph!! An absolute goddess among men!! Delph is absolutely fascinating to talk to, and every single one of her projects hooks me in right away!! Knife boy?? You know I’m on top of that. A system where they track how dangerous you are?? I’m there. Everything she writes is so intriguing and thought through and compelling, and I can connect to her characters as fi they were real people, and their powers and abilities and even their names are just so majestic!! Anything Delph puts her mind to is bound to be a great work, and reading about her story and characters just proves it! :)

@ashes-to-sen - I’m still blown away by Ghost’s absolute maturity, poise, and proffessionalism when it comes to her writing!! I read the first couple of chapters of Into the Haze on wattpad and I can’t even say how utterly floor I was by how freaking amazing it was. I’m not gonna lie, I thought Ghost was too smart for me at first just by the way she carries herself but I’m so glad I can call her my friend now!! her blog theme is absolutely gorgeous, she’s an absolute pleasure to talk to, and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting more content!!

@noloumna - Alright I have to admit I need to stop being a scaredy cat and actually talk to Mir more, but her projects and plots are absolutely amazing!! I get so excited every time Mir pops into my notifs, it’s like “oh worm?? tumblr mom saw something I did???” I think I once saw a post that said “if you’re a writeblr and you’re not following Mir then honestly what are you doing” and truer words were never spoken. I remember reading the powerpoint presentation on The Slaughter of the Finches and fell absolutely in love with it! The concept of thorns growing inside you was so cool and seemed like something right out of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, so it had my attention right away! All in all, awesome blog, awesome blogger

5x5 Year in Review: 2018

Top 5 movies you’ve watched this year.

1. Spider-Man: Homecoming. Absolutely fell in love with the MCU through this movie (Not to mention developed a huge crush on Peter Parker...)

2. Solo: A Star Wars Story. I got into Star Wars at the beginning of the year, and I bought my brother and myself tickets to the opening night fan event. We had a ton of fun, and I loved the movie.

3. Mary Poppins Returns. Just watched this one the other night. I loved everything about it, especially Dick Van Dyke’s cameo.

4. Ralph Breaks the Internet. So many references! Also loved the comfy princesses. They were definitely the best part of the movie!

5. The Incredibles II. I have always been obsessed with the Incredibles since the first movie came out, and the second one just made my love deeper! Not to mention that my family is basically the Parr family (minus Jack Jack). My brother and I have been comparing our relationship to Violet and Dash for years.

Top 5 television shows I’ve watched this year.

1. Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. I am in love with the animation style and story line. I cry more than I care to admit. Go watch this show. And somebody please take it off of this never-ending hiatus!

2. Christy. This is an old, old television show. I bought it on DVD, and fell in love. Of course, it does deviate from the book quite a bit and it ends on a cliffhanger due to being cancelled after 2 short seasons, but I love it for what it is.

3. Star Wars Resistance. I LOVE the animation style of this show. I relate way too much to Kaz. I find Neeku way to funny. Did I mention the animation??? I love everything about this show and can’t wait to see more.

4. Fixer Upper. This year saw the end of my favorite, most wholesome HGTV show ever. Chip and Jo are basically my parents, and I was so sad to see them go. I miss their crazy antics.

5. Um... I haven’t actually watched anything else...well, I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m looking forward to watching Agent Carter next year!

Top 5 books you’ve read in 2018.

1. Inkheart. I was sucked into the world, and I wanted to stay forever. It describes perfectly so many things about loving books. It’s a huge book, but I finished it in two days... now on to the sequels!

2. Alex and Eliza. I love Hamilton, so I thought I’d try this book. I loved it. It deviates from the musical’s version of the love story, but I love it so much. It develops Eliza into even more of the strong woman she was.

3. Anne of Avonlea. I continued the Anne of Green Gables series this year and finished the second book. I cannot wait to continue and see what crazy situations Anne gets herself into next!

4. The Millie Keith series by Martha Finley. I recently found the “A Life of Faith” series on a garage sale, and I immediately bought every book they had. These books brought me out of depression in middle school, and I just had to reread them. I’m on the third book now. These books helped my faith grow the first time I read through them, and they’re still helping me grow! I highly recommend these books.

5. The Nativity Story. This is a novelization of the movie. I was surprised how in depth it goes. I like it a lot because it gave a deeper look into what life was like for Mary.

I honestly thought I read more this year, but apparently school takes up too much time and I’m only halfway through about 10 other books that I started this year... XD

Top 5 songs of 2018

1. Monster from Frozen Broadway. So much feeling goes into that song, and I feel it in my soul.

2. Trip a Little Light Fantastic from Mary Poppins Returns. Only heard this one a few days ago, but I am in love.

3. Dangerous to Dream from Frozen Broadway. I know I already did a song from this one, but it’s so good!

4. Another World from A Little Princess. I just belt this one whenever I want to be elsewhere.

5. For Good from Wicked. I sang this at my college graduation a few weeks ago!

5 good/positive things that have happened to you in 2018:

1. I graduated college with my Associate of Arts degree! (I finished early because I took about a semester in high school and then about 18-20 credits for 3 semesters... it was not fun, but worth it in the end)

2. I got to visit my friend down in Florida with the rest of my family.

3. I got to hang out quite a bit with the lovely @random----fandoms

4. Everything with my braces went well, and I am now ready for surgery in a few days.

5. I was honored to be asked to sing at the President’s Holiday Tea at my college as well as my college graduation.
