✨ Perfect Proposal ✨
Fíli looked into the mirror and gave his moustache a nervous tug. There was not even a single wrinkle on the festive clothes he wore, his hair was freshly braided and adorned with beads and yet his face seemed uncharacteristically pale. He swallowed. It was finally going to happen today, after so much waiting, after years of pining for you in secret, and—what was most important—after surviving the Quest. Now Erebor was reclaimed and he was finally able to speak of his feelings and ask you to marry him. Fíli dreamed of the moment when he would be allowed to call you his wife… if you agreed to his proposal, that is.
His stomach decided to tie itself into a knot and Fíli realized that he was even more terrified—no, warriors never got terrified!—he was even more nervous than before the Battle of Five Armies began. What was worse, at the very moment when he imagined your lovely face, your smile, and the way your soft lips parted, saying “yes”, every single word of his well-rehearsed speech seemed to have disappeared from his mind.
Muttering a swearword under his breath, Fíli left his chambers. A breath of fresh air was all he needed to clear his head. He was a prince, after all, and he would act like one. He only needed to find his composure. There was still some time until he was going to meet you for dinner in the Royal Wing. Everything was prepared, the music, the atmosphere, the candles, the food... It just had to be perfect. He had to make it happen. But now, Fíli needed a few moments to himself, and he had to be quick about it. Hurriedly, he directed his steps towards one of the outer terraces of the Lonely Mountain.
As he strode ahead, barely registering the surroundings, his mind focused on recalling the speech he was about to make, something thudded against his chest.
“Ouch!” a familiar voice reached his ears. Your voice.
“Gamzûna! What are you doing here?!” Fíli used the moniker you gained after one of the orc attacks during the Quest. It meant “fierce lady”. He looked straight into your eyes, smiling.
“I’m so very sorry, Fíli! I mean, I didn’t…” you started, trying to catch your breath. At that very moment you both realized something. You stood very, very close to Fíli, your hands placed against his hard chest, his arms wrapped around you. He must have instinctively embraced you at the very moment you bumped into him.
“It looks like you have been in a hurry,” he murmured with that alluring smile of his. His arms were still around you, holding you close. Fíli was not letting you go. You tried not to think of what would happen if someone saw you embracing in the middle of a public corridor, his face so close to yours.
“I was seeing Princess Dís and realized what time it was, and I wanted to be quick so that I wouldn’t be late for…” your voice trembled. “For the dinner you invited me to.”
“You are here and I am here too. It seems that we have plenty of time to reach the dining hall, don’t you think?” Fíli winked playfully. “By the way, you look stunning tonight.”
The smile you gave him in return was barely visible.
“Thank you. Since this is going to be our last evening together, I thought…” you cleared your throat, looking away and pulling at one of the intricate laces of your elegant bottle-green dress.
“What are you talking about, Gamzûna?! Last evening? Are you going somewhere?!” Fíli’s eyes widened. He was so close to telling you about everything he felt for you! That couldn’t be happening!
“It seems so,” you took a deep breath. You dreaded every single word of what you were about to say, but it needed to be done. There was that old saying, If you love someone, set them free–right?
“Please, tell me that you are joking! You can’t go!” Fíli protested. His embrace became even tighter.
“It will be for the best. You’ll see. Until today, I had hoped that tonight…” you tried not to sob and shook your head instead. “I like you, Fíli. I really do. And we grew closer during the Quest, all those evenings together, all the dangers we survived… I felt the bond between us was special. You were always so good to me, so caring. I don’t know when exactly I understood what I felt for you, but tonight I wanted to tell you… Well, it doesn’t matter now any more, does it? No, please, let me finish. Today at breakfast Balin say that you needed a wife now, someone worthy of you. And Bofur added this had to be someone who made you smile. Dwalin kept on saying how you admired women who were fearless warriors. And then Kili told me that a beautiful lady stole your heart a long time ago and that it was time you proposed to her. Ori even wanted to show me her picture but then Thorin told everyone to stop prattling. Fíli, it is time for me to return to my old life in the Blue Mountains. I will not stand in the way of your happiness, but I wanted to have this last evening with you. For old times’ sake.”
Fíli’s heart beat strong and fast under his tunic. His brow furrowed. His eyes searched your face in silence.
“I’m going to kill every single last of them!” He finally huffed.
Your jaw dropped. That was the last thing you expected him to say.
“Fíli…?”
“Yes. I’m going to strangle Balin! Then I’m going to cook Bofur in a stew! And I’ll throw Dwalin from the rampart!”
“Fíli! What are you talking about?!”
“ I’ll feed every single one of them to the mountain trolls! And I’ll drop an avalanche right on the top of my brother’s stupid head! That lulkh! And Ori…”
“Please, Fíli! Could you at least let me go?”
“No! You are not going anywhere!” Sparks of anger glinted in his eyes as he covered your hands with his. His voice softened. “Gamzûna, will you tell me now what you wanted to tell me tonight? I would very much like to hear it.”
“There’s nothing I can tell you,” you whispered, avoiding his gaze. “You are supposed to marry that beautiful lady of yours, remember?”
Fíli was now holding your hands in his. His skin was as warm as sun on midday. And his radiant smile was back on his lips, his moustache beads clinking as he tilted his head.
“Aye, it seems that the cat is out of the bag now,” he chuckled, making you frown.
“What’s so funny?”
“Come. See for yourself,” he held your hand and pulled you gently after him, down the corridor. “There is a lady whom I want to marry. She makes me smile and she is one of the fiercest warriors I know. And she captured my heart on the day I met her. This is her.”
As he spoke, he turned you around until you faced one of the stone walls of the corridor. This particular wall was covered with a large mirror in a golden frame.
You were looking at your own reflection.
“What are you saying, Fíli?” your eyes met the reflection of his silver-blue gaze.
“I love you, Gamzûna,” he murmured, stepping to face you, his voice laced with tenderness. “Was that what you wanted to tell me too?”
“I’m afraid not,” you replied.
“Oh…” Fíli’s smile faded away.
Now it was your time to chuckle and hold his hands in yours.
“I wanted to ask you whether you would do me the honour of becoming my husband, Fíli, son of Dís.”
“Gamzûna…” Slowly, reverently Fíli cradled your face with his palms as his lips hovered over yours. “You are perfect.”
“Does that mean ‘yes’?” you whispered, brushing your nose against his.
“Guess,” his hot breath fanned your skin a moment before your lips met but you already knew the answer.

Fili X Reader - Restless
✿ Words: 2,688
✿ Themes: Kinda(?) Angst, Fluff
✿ Prompt: After the Battle of the Five Armies, you are tasked with keeping the line of Durin alive.
✿ Posted: 2/19/23
You had merged into Thorin’s company when they stumbled upon Beorn the skin-changer. You just happened to find Beorn a few weeks earlier as a traveling healer. After you helped with the injuries they had, it was decided by Gandalf that you would continue with them. You spent a good three months with Thorin and the company and had come to appreciate them all, and them you.
You loved watching Ori knit next to the fire. He was even sweet enough to teach you how to mend your own clothes and made you a pair of knit gloves that you carry with you at all times.
Bofur would tell the funniest stories when you and Bombur prepared dinner with him. You could always tell it was a really good story whenever Bifur would laugh and slap your back, saying words that you could understand.
Oin shared his healing techniques with you, and you to him. It was a wonderful learning experience that would come in handy later on. He also gifted you a small satchel to carry herbs in.
Gloin always has something to say about his beloved wife and son. You would always hear groans from the other members, but you loved listening to him rant and rave about his family. It was so cute to hear how much he loved them.
Thorin and Dwalin were both tough nuts to crack. Thorin seemed to welcome you in once you spat in the face of Thranduil in Mirkwood. You ended up buttering up Dwalin on accident. You had some cookies from another passing traveler that you helped and were eating a few when you noticed him eyeing down the small bag you were holding. You tied the top of the bag and tossed it to him. He seemed frazzled at first but grunted in appreciation.
Nori was an annoyance, but you still enjoyed him. You would always find him looking over something of yours that had miraculously ‘fallen’ out of your bag. He did try teaching you how to pick-pocket, but you weren’t very good at it.
You loved Dori and Balin. They were the ones that you would always go to for advice. They were the grandparents you never had. Dori especially seemed very mothering towards you, going as far as making sure you always were close enough to the fire.
Kili was a menace when it came to his teasing. There wasn’t a day that went by without some sort of joke that would make your cheeks heat up. You were glad you could take some of the attention from Bilbo though.
You loved going to Bilbo when you needed a civilized and calm chat. You both spoke of simpler times and gardens.
Fili… Oh, Fili was something special. Despite being like his brother, there was something else about him that just completed you. When he stepped in front of you to defend you from a spider, your heart fluttered. When he waded back into the water to pull you from your barrel, your stomach did flip-flops. When he grabbed your hand for comfort when his brother was sick, you nearly exploded.
When you reached Erebor, you ended up spending even more time with him as you both were on the same schedule looking for the Arkenstone. You hated to admit it, but you’d come to fall for the blonde dwarf, and spending every waking moment with him didn’t help. You only ever confessed your crush to Bilbo when he caught you gawking at Fili who just bathed in a stream. You never dared to tell Fili, too scared to ruin what you had now.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
After the battle of the five armies, the line of Durin returned to you tremendously wounded. We’re talking twenty minutes from death kind of injuries.
You and Oin were working around the clock trying to repair the damage that was dealt to your newfound family. Your weak heart allowed tears to fall from your eyes as you worked on Thorin, worried that they all wouldn’t make it. A few hours later you managed to stop the bleeding and suture any lacerations or mutilations.
By the twenty-sixth hour, your mind was worn out as you sat on a table mixing a salve as Oin mixed up the decoction. It was silent in the room, the only sounds being the small clinks of glass and breathing.
You jumped when you heard the door squeak open, the head of Dori popped in and you nodded at him, continuing with your work. He took this as an okay to come in, his eyes looked over the three men laying on the beds.
“How are they?” He asked, not making eye contact.
You had a grim smile on your face as you mustered up some words, “Mostly stable.”
You watched out of the corner of your eye as Oin’s head lightly drop before lifting again, You slid off the table and placed down your finished salve. You walked to Oin and plucked the decoction out of his hands.
“I’m not done with that!” He grumbled, reaching up for it. You moved it out of reach and walked to Dori, placing your empty hand on his shoulder.
“Do me a favor and get him to bed.” You pleaded, eyes looking between his.
“I don’t need to sleep. There’s much work to do!” Oin tried to argue but you just shook your head.
“It’s no help to either of us if you faint from exhaustion,” You gave him a sympathetic look. “I can handle it, don’t worry.” He grumbled a bit but didn’t fight as Nori led him out of the room.
You spent hours delicately washing the blood off of the dwarves' bodies and coating their wounds in the salve. By the time you were done and pouring small amounts of the decoction in their mouths, you were half asleep.
Your head lightly raised when a knock sounded on the door. You hummed in response as you began to gather all of the bloody tools that needed to be cleaned. The door creaked open and a grunt met your ears. You peeked over your shoulder to look at the dwarf who entered, Dwalin and it looked like Bofur was right behind him.
There was a low whistle from Bofur before he spoke, “Lass, I mean this in the nicest way,” He started. “You look terrible.”
You scoffed as you dropped the metal tools into a large basin. “I’m well aware, thank you.” You slowly blinked before turning on the water, a soft sigh leaving your lips as the cold slightly shocked you awake. Wiping your hands off on a towel, you pushed the herbs to the side now.
“Are they-” Dwalin stopped mid-sentence, seeing a sorrowful look in his eyes. You’re sure he must be in as much pain as yourself, seeing his best friend laying there.
You moved to him placing a tired hand on his shoulder in reassurance. “All alive. I’ve been keeping a keen eye on them.” You lazily smiled. You walked over to Fili’s bedside, a downcast look as you brushed the hair off his face. You closed your eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath.
“When’s the last time you’ve slept?” Bofur asked. You thought for a moment and shrugged as you stood there.
“Not that long ago. I’m alright.” You brushed him off, opening your eyes and continuing to work on organizing the herbs back to where they were originally.
You weren’t aware of the looks that Bofur and Dwalin shared behind your back but it wasn’t long before Dwalin stepped forward and grabbed your hips, heaving you over his shoulder. A gasp slipped out of your mouth. You went to fight him, but limply hanging there only made you realize how tired you were.
“Sleep well dove!” Bofur’s voice called to your and Dwalin’s retreating form.
-.-.-.-.-.-.- 2 Weeks Later -.-.-.-.-.-.-
You and Oin had been keeping Thorin, Fili, and Kili under constant supervision. This meant 12 hours of your awake hours you spent in that room treating them.
Today, you were walking towards the room. You had a heap of books you planned to read during your downtime, but you froze in place when you could hear a voice inside the door, then a familiar laugh.
You rushed forward, books clattering to the floor, slamming the door open and looking towards where Kili lay. He was awake!
“Oh, Kili!” You cried out, running to the side of his bed and dropping to your knees. You grabbed onto his hand, excited to see one of your friends awake.
“Did you think I would die that easy?” He teased in a weak voice. You laughed and shook your head.
“I’m so grateful for that.”
 -.-.-.-.-.-.- 1 Month Later -.-.-.-.-.-.-
You had been talking to Oin in the corner about making a balm for Kili to use on his own when you heard a low groan. You both turned towards Kili, expecting him to be whining about his pain again but he was staring at his uncle. You turned your gaze upon Thorin, watching his face scrunch up before his hand twitched. You quickly moved forward, bending over him and placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Thorin? Thorin can you hear me?” You asked before turning to Oin, “Can you hand me the macerate-” You were cut off by a painful hand around your arm, Thorin reeled forward screaming out a war cry.
Oin rushed to help you hold him down and attempted to calm him, but he acted as though he was still in the middle of battle. You received a good punch to the face, stumbling back before rushing forward again and holding him down with more ferocity. If it wasn’t for Kili, who stumbled into the hall and called out at the passing Dwalin, you’re sure you would have received much worse.
When Thorin finally calmed down and came to, he looked at you with a horrified expression.
“My deepest apologies, (Y/N). I thought you-” You smiled and placed a hand on his.
“Thorin, it’s alright. You’ve been through much more than I.” You reassured him with a small pat on his hand. “I’m just glad we all have you back, King under the mountain.”
-.-.-.-.-.-.- 2 Months Later -.-.-.-.-.-.-
Kili and Thorin were both mostly on their own at this point, only coming in every now and then for a tincture to help their pain.
But Fili… Fili was still sound asleep.
Every day you would talk to him as he lay in that bed. While you talked you would do things like clean him up, change his bandages, and even mix up some medicine just to prepare for the worst.
Today was draining. New dwarves were flooding into Erebor and in your free time, you were helping the others by showing the new Darrow their way around the mountain. Oin had a rough day himself and asked if you would be okay to cover his shift. You knew that nothing ever happened so you accepted.
You had just packaged up a few salves when a yawn hit you. You could probably get away with a small rest even though you knew you weren't supposed to. Your eyes glanced at the empty beds before they slowly drifted to Fili. Slowly shuffling to his bedside, you examined his features. He looked so comfortable and warm. You crawled up next to him, before carefully laying down. You lightly rested your head on his chest, ear pressing against the fabric covering his torso.
“Your heartbeat has always been so calming to me, Fee.” You hummed to yourself, letting your arm trace over a scar on his arm.
“I wish I told you how I felt before this happened. Hell, I wish I could tell you now.” You sighed, shutting your eyes and focusing on his heartbeat.
“No one is around to hear, I don’t see any harm…” You opened your eyes, moving up the bed towards his face. “I love you, Fili. From the moment I laid eyes on you I knew I did.” You placed a light kiss on his cheek.
“I would do anything just to see your smile again, to hear your laugh, to see your eyes sparkle in the sun.” You whispered before resting your head down on his chest again, slowly giving into the darkness of sleep.
You groggily blinked as you woke yourself up, unfurling yourself from Fili’s side. You grabbed onto Fili’s arm which now wrapped around your waist. You must have moved it while you rested.
“Oh Fili, your skin is so soft..” You murmured, bringing his hand up and placing a kiss on his palm.
You brought your head to rest back on his chest, “If you were awake, I would tell you how much I adored you…” you sighed. “How much I miss you…”
A few minutes passed as you laid on him, there was still so much you had to do before Oin came in, “I should probably stop talking and get to work.”
“Please keep talking, I love the sound of your voice.” A throaty voice crackled in your ear.
You let out a shrill scream as you flailed and fell off the bed with a slap against the cold stone ground. You stared up as you could hear the shifting of him on the bed.
“Fili?” You whispered as you shakily stood off the ground, his blue eyes were cracked weakly but a bright smile still played on his lips.
“Hello sweetling.” He cooed, arm feebly reaching out for you. Had it not been for your excitement of seeing him awake, you would have thought more about what he called you.
You swiftly crawled onto the bed next to him, sitting on your knees and cupping his cheeks. “Oh, Fili…” You whimpered, examining over him.”I didn’t think you were going to wake up…”
He used his hand against your back to gently direct you down until you were spooned to his side. “For a while, I dreamt of nothing. But then, it was you.” He sucked in a small breath, his hand coming down to rest on your cheek. “When I was about to give up, you came forward, urging me to return to you.”
You pressed into his hand but furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, “What are you saying?”
“I love you, (Y/N). I should have told you before I left you on the ramparts.” He whispered, “The last few days I listened to your words of adoration, and I knew you felt the same about me.” He confessed
Your breath hitched in your throat. He had heard you. He had heard it all! Your cheeks heated up as you opened your mouth to find something to say, but all that came out was a pathetic squeak.
“I want to court you.” Fili announced confidently, his smile unfaltering on his stunning face.
“Fili…” You muttered in shock, his thumb brushed away a tear that escaped your eyes.
“It doesn't have to be now,” His voice lowered to a desire-filled whisper. “But I cannot possibly stand another second knowing you are not mine.”
You shifted where you lay, choosing to instead move and hover over him. He breathed deeply as you looked over him, his free hand coming up to rest on your waist. Your stomach did backflips as you leaned down, gingerly just brushing your lips together. He quickly leaned up, locking your lips together. His lips were feathery as you both familiarized with each other. He tasted of the tincture you’d last given him, and something else that was just so uniquely him.
His hand gripped your side harder, pulling you down until you were rested on top of him. Your cheeks burned as you reached up to brush a hand against his bearded chin. You reluctantly pulled your lips apart, Fili leaned up to try and follow but you placed a hand on his chest to keep him there.
You lovingly sighed as you bent down, pressing your foreheads together. “I am yours, FIli. I always have been.”

The Art of Giving a Kiss - (Fili x GN Reader)
Hobbit/LOTR Masterlist
Request by Anon
Summary: As you a Fili develop a slight flirtationship (Mainly on Fili’s side) in the dungeons of Mirkwood, you work on a project that may help you express how you truly feel.
A/N: If you know the story Peter Pan you will know that Peter gave Wendy a “Kiss” in the form of an Acorn.
A/N: There are slight suggestive themes.
Tumblr media
The reclaiming of Erebor is the only thing on everyone’s mind as they sat in the cells of Mirkwood. There is no light so there is no telling day from night. All you knew is that the Elven guards give you breakfast and dinner eight hours apart and that they have done that about five times now. so you can only assume that it has been five or more days. During this time Thorin has offended the the king into making us stay our entire life time and then some. Luckily you have a cellmate. Fili sits in the opposite corner near the door of the cell. He does this to speak to his brother who is in the cell next to him. You both haven’t really had much one-on-one time until now. Talking to him has been a dream since you have only been watching from afar.
As of right now you are finishing a gift for him. Making sure to keep your back turned toward him. You have a two-part gift that will be given together. You followed Bilbo in getting an acorn from Beron’s garden, but instead of planting it you turned it into a necklace. There is a small hole at the top where the stem would be so you can put a string through it so it can hang from his neck. The string was made from the silk of the spiders you both fought together wrapped with small vines so it isn’t to sticky. You managed to create a small hinge so the top opens outward. The middle of the acorn is carved out so you can put something small inside and the thing you are putting in the middle is what you are working on now.
“Are you masturbating over there?” Fili says with a teasing smirk.
Your face flushes red. “No you dimwit!” You choke out.
You continue to drill into the center of the pebble, sanding the inside of the pebble. You decide to take a break from that for now to face Fili with an unamused face.
“Why must you say such crude things.” You say with a huff.
Fili only chuckles and strokes his beard and looking up as if he is thinking of a reason. You take the time for your eyes to roam over his face. His braided mustache is somehow flawless without as much as a single hair put out of place. His beautifully kept  blond hair is slightly frizzed with indents from his head resting against the bars of the cell doors. The rest of him was also a sight to see because he is lacking his regular tan fur coat. He is in a white shirt and black trousers. The shirts was slightly opened at the top revealing the small strands of chest hair along his chest. His pants were tightened around his well sculpted thighs as he has one foot placed on the ground while the other is splayed outwards while bent at the knee. -Effectively man-spreading-
“Maybe I like seeing you flustered my friend.” He says with a smirk.
You roll your eyes and turn around again to work on the bead. You begin sanding the outside of it until it is perfectly smooth. You then get another stone that you sharpened to a point and began to carve into it.  ‘amrâlimê’ It says. You do love him. Though you both never really talked much he was always nice to you. Never teased you about anything you couldn’t control. He protected you from Kili’s teasing though that is behind the scenes you assumed it was him. Once you were done you put the small bead inside the necklace. You smiled at it before turning back to Fili. You don’t know when you will give it to him but it will be sooner then later.
You assumed that it was very late since it is the second round of food for the day. You can hear a synced groan resound through the dungeon as yet again another salad is served. You take a moment to shuffle through your food. Fili is still at the door his head leaning against it. You take a moment before deciding to throw it at him. Literally you throw it in his face and it lands in the salad.
“Oi what was that for?” Fili rouses.
“Don’t... Don’t be weird about it...” You say before stuffing your face.
Fili looks down and picks up the acorn only to find that there is a string attached to it. He follows the string to see that it is a loop and he comes to the brilliant conclusion that it is a necklace.
“Where’d you get this?” Fili asks and you are silent for a moment before responding.
“I made it... From an acorn in Beorn’s garden...”
“What did you get!” Kili’s voice echoes only to get a bunch of ‘Shh’s’ from the rest of the company.
“Why give it to me?” “I swear you and Kili share one brain sometimes...” Fili gives you a confused look.
He looks down at the acorn and notices the hinge. He pulls the acorn to his ear and shakes it to hear something inside. He looks up at you with a questioning gaze. His hazel eyes seeming to look right through you, but probably not because he doesn’t understand that you wish to court him. Fili opens the small acorn and dumps the bead into his hand. He begins to examine it. His eyes widen at the word inscribed on it. He looks up at you again.
“I like you, you  jargh!” You whisper-shout.
Fili’s face relaxes into a smirk before taking the bead that his holding his braided mustache before replacing it with the stone bead.
“I just so happen to like you as well.”  He says as he strokes his newly decorated mustache.
“And I like having a part of you on my face.” He says with a wink and puts the acorn necklace around his neck and tucking it into his shirt.
Your face immediately flushes red. “Don’t say something so lewd!”
Right as Fili was going to respond with possibly another crude remark and voice from the other cell shouts
“BILBO!” Fili looks away for a moment but looks back at you and says: “We’ll talk about this later.” As the door to the cell opens.

weird ask but does anyone have any fili fic recs?
like not romance, just fics that actually give him character, make him the prince he is, have thorin care about him.

Sadly, I’ve spent the last two months reading countless fics so cannot recall specific titles but I do know Ive read Fili beating up Thorin at least once. I DO remember that Comes Around Again by scarletjedi features Fili on the VERGE of decking Thorin (in a very heartfelt scene) so I can recommend that at least.
People should write angry Fili more! I like to think that, as the older, more responsible sibling he’s got some unresolved dad (uncle) issues that goldsickness absolutely did not help
I’m so shamefully late with my reply to this, I’m so sorry!
But I really appreciated your fic rec, I’m on it! Actually, him being on the verge of decking Thorin is better than him going through with it. And just in general, I’d love to see more fics where Fili gets to be the one who shakes Thorin out of his goldsickness.
And completely agree people should write angry Fili more. There’s a lot he has to be pissed off about :D I second every bit of your uncle issues headcanon lol.
Especially after Thorin doesn’t let him go over the wall, tries to get him to throw Bilbo over the ramparts and then after his recovery only acknowledges Kíli with a headbutt, I always imagine Fili being filled with cold fury and that’s why he’s so distant in that scene.
This became a rant, but it always does when it comes to Fili and getting to gush about him with a fellow fan! Thank you for sending this in! <3
