Hi, Juli, hope you're doing well! Can we please get a shoutout? Fiddler's Green is an upcoming character-driven, post-apocalyptic roleplay focusing on the political dynamics within a community of survivors. We're currently open to potential co-admins and looking to spread the word!
Hello hello! I’ll do that!
Why don’t you guys check out this really interesting sounding upcoming rpg! I have it’s plot here; and while you are already on the page, why not apply right away! Best of luck and have fun! 🤍✨
[ID: two tweets, one from user Finn Wake to Neil Gaiman, one from Neil Gaiman in response. The first tweet reads “Why sell out? Just stand by your work or do you lack the intestine fortitude? It irks me more that you just don’t even give a fuck.” The second tweet reads “I give all the fucks about the work. I spent 30 years successfully battling bad movies of Sandman. I give zero fucks about people who don’t understand/haven’t read Sandman whining about a non-binary Desire or that Death isn’t white enough. Watch the show, make up your minds.” end ID]
I can’t begin to describe how happy this response made me. Like many people Death is my favorite character, and I’m not going to lie and say I was a bit anxious about her casting. But Kirby Howell-Baptise is an excellent choice, and I’m super pumped about getting to see her throwing bread (/hj). Not to mention Desire is literally nonbinary in canon, that’s part of their deal.
And yeah, people are going to complain and be assholes, but seeing the creator of the work so firmly putting his foot down and telling people doing bad faith takes to stfu is awesome to see. Especially for something as influential and well-loved as Sandman. Good Omens showed that the integrity of Neil’s work is very important to him and he will fight to maintain it, and he’s obviously doing the same for Sandman behind the scenes and to people’s faces. Sandman’s near and dear to my heart and has impacted my life for the better, and every new thing we learn about it is proving that it’s the same thing to the people making it. It’s awesome. Plus, there’s something very satisfying in seeing one of your favorite authors tell someone they’re being a jackass about a series you love. But that’s just a bonus.
@neil-gaiman, if you ever see this I hope you know your efforts to make a Sandman that is good are definitely showing, and lots of people are pumped to see the final product. And Stephen Fry is the most perfect casting choice in the history of casting choices
I'm gonna list a few of the movies my mom or dad introduced to me when they were around my age or older that they love and that I love, too.
Pirates Of Penzance
This is honestly a hilarious movie that has a good soundtrack, I havent watched it in about a year or two but I believe it aged well enough..?
Ngl this one actually kept me really interested the whole time I first watched it and it's still really good.
12 Angry Men
My fucking goodness I loved this movie so much it was so interesting and I loved it. When I first watched it, I didnt wanna watch something new, but within less than 10 minutes I was sucked in and I didnt move from my spot that whole movie
The Shawshank Redemption
It shows the sad reality of prisons and how they're treated, it's an inspirational story ngl, and it has some really sad but beautiful moments.
The Princess Bride
The iconic quotes in this is enough let alone the only cishet couple that I ship like I do my gay couples. It has something for everyone.
Fried Green Tomatoes
The lesbian couple, the beautiful scenery, the cannabalism, the funny moments. Yes, one of those is not like the others. It also shows a lot of stuff about racism and is just a cute feel good eat-your-racist-white-man movie
Searching For Bobby Fisher
I dont know how to play chess. I dont like many things about chess. But I quite honestly think this one is really interesting and I love the characters and story with it.
FAGIN AND DODGER ARE THE MOST ICONIC CHARACTERS EVER. The music is really good, and they're all entertaining as fuck.
Quite honestly all I remember from this one is that Irah was the funniest character ever and it confused me a little bit with the ending.
Fiddler On The Roof
I dont care for religion tbh but the way they have it in this I respect a lot, the MUSIC ahhhh I am obsessed with it.
That's all I can put for now, these are all what my family considers "rainy day movies" and since today is a rainy day we are watching the shawshank redemption and I wanted to make this list :)
#OTD in 2012 – Death of Bernard Noël “Banjo Barney” McKenna.
#OTD in 2012 – Death of Bernard Noël “Banjo Barney” McKenna.
Barney McKenna was the last surviving founding member of the Irish folk group the Dubliners. With Luke Kelly’s powerful voice and force of nature on stage, Ronnie Drew’s gravelly memorable vocal sound, it was McKenna’s playing of the tenor banjo, coupled with John Sheahan’s fiddle, that gave the Dubliners their original instrumental quality. In the process, McKenna redefined the role of the banjo…
There are certain things I didn’t notice in The Sandman until the audio drama. For example I didn’t realize just how Gilbert says “Hoom” until I heard it in the audio. It sort of became his catchphrase in the audio drama.
Rumor fresh from Twitter: Stephen Fry is Fiddler’s Green and Nina Wadia is the Mother of the three-in-one.
There’s a new rumor on Twitter that Stephen Fry is going to play Gilbert AKA Fiddler’s Green in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.
Gilbert is the human persona of Fiddler’s Green, a place in The Dreaming that one day, during Morpheus’ long captivity, decided it wanted to know how it felt to live as a human man and wandered off.
There’s another rumor that Nina Wadia is playing The Mother aspect of the Hecatae. The rumor about Nina originated with Deadline, who are usually correct but they have made occasional mistakes in the past.
We’re now at Day 21 of my Advent Calendar. Time to put the sprouts on, as long as you’re quick about it. Today’s window has opened on a selection of three songs, and I’d defy anyone to think of a connection between them: the fact that all of them have been released within the past month doesn’t count, I’m afraid. I did think about posting a themed selection to mark our Winter Solstice here in the…
