“You’re playing with me, boy. N-No,” you take a step back as your brunette freckled boyfriend gets down on one knee in front of you.

He smiles cheekily at you and shakily holds up a tiny busted box while scratching the back of his neck nervously with his other hand. “I ain’t playing, now shut up and let me talk, baby.” You bite your lip to refrain yourself from interrupting him and nod for him to continue, watching him with teary eyes. “Now look, I hate being cheesy you know I do. But I swear to god, and you know I do that a lot, ever since you came into my life baby girl. Fuck, I swear I’ve never felt so blessed. I’ve been feeling so blessed, shit I might even go to church,” he laughs awkwardly and shakes his head.

You let out an airy laugh and wipe away the tears that rolled down your cheeks, “Yeah, right.”

“Shut it. I’m serious. You could ask me to stop smoking and I’d do it. Lover, Doll, Sweetheart. Love of my life, I would do anything for you in a heartbeat. I damn promise you that. I honestly don’t know how else boys go on with this proposal shit but I just know it’s you, girl. These past two years, I can’t imagine spending the rest of my time with anyone else but you. Just you. That’s all I want. You and you sweet puss—”

“Arvin!” you gasp and swat at him.

He laughs and dodges your hand, flashing you a smirk that makes you weak in the knees. “I’m teasing, doll. I just hope you know that you’re all that I think about, day and night. I love the way your lips curve when you smile. I love it when your eyes brighten when you talk about the things you like. I love getting lost in those beautiful eyes of yours. I love your smell, god I can’t get enough of it. I can’t get enough of you. The way you laugh, the way you cry, all of you. I love all of you, every single inch, everything. I am so in love with you. I want you to be mine, forever. I want to fuck you, forever. Marry me, stupid.”

“Jesus, Vinny,” you whine and collapse into his arms, pulling him close. “Yes, of course. I’ll marry you, idiot.” You hold out your hand and stifle a giggly sob as he hurriedly slips on the ring he managed to buy you. It isn’t anything too fancy but to you it is perfect.

“God, I love you, precious,” he cups your face and kisses you deeply.

tom was completely in love with your daughter. since the moment scarlett was born he pretty much never wanted to put her down, always needed some contact to know she was okay and happy.

today was the first time tom’s grandparents would be meeting scarlett, only a week after the precious angel was born. she had already met tom’s parents and brothers at the hospital, just as your only family had, but they were here anyway trying to get in some extra cuddle time with the niece and granddaughter.

when passing her around from person to person for them to hold her, tom was nervous and very very tense. his knee was bouncing, scared that anything at any second could go wrong and his bub would get hurt.

you were shockingly calmer than he was. you trusted his family and knew they would protect the little girl just like she was their own.

you shot him a look across the room that told him he needed to calm down, assuring him that scarlett was going to be fine.

he took some deep breaths, looking at the way the girl was nestled in his youngest brother’s arms and realising that you were right, none of these people would ever hurt your bub.

when it came time for parents to take her back, purely because of the way he’d been acting, you let him take scarlett after everyone got their cuddles in, watching as he carefully lifted her from his mum’s arms, resting with the small of his back against the counter behind him.

her head was settled on his chest, next to his heartbeat to hopefully give her some comfort.

conversation sparked up again, nikki asking you about how she’d been sleeping, what’s she like etcetera.

tom wasn’t really listening, but he was trying, he was too entranced with the way his girl was clinging onto his finger with her hand, trying to get closer to him.

“what are you doing, bub?” he asked, rhetorically of course. the girl was still wiggling in his hold, eventually settling when she was cradled comfortably in his arms, his bicep being used as a cushion. she stared up at her dad with those brown eyes that made him melt, the perfect little girl making grabby hands at him.

he didn’t quite know what she wanted, but he brought his face closer to her, carefully resting his nose against her tiny one. she babbled away, hands coming up to grab her daddy’s cheeks as he grinned.

you sat watching the two interact, your heart melting at the way he was with her. you couldn’t believe that she was already a daddy’s girl, but seeing them now like this, it didn’t matter, because everything was so perfect.

you were unaware of the gaze tom’s mother had on you, watching the way your heart visibly melted at the sight of your love with your little creation. she felt her own heart grow a few sizes, seeing one of her children so happy with his own baby. and tom, well tom couldn’t ask for anything more.
