For real though play thracia 776. For some reason it's been spread throughout the FE community that it's the hardest game in the series, which is just not true

Thracia is a bit difficult but most of the difficulty isn't pure bullshit like in other games in the series (ex: 3h maddening reinforcements). In fact you yourself can get a lot of stuff to make your units bullshit (not even counting emulating and using savestates)

If you understand the capture mechanic you'll be fine really. Yeah your units can get captured too but you only really have to worry about healers and anyone without a usable weapon getting captured. And even then there are gaiden chapters that let you recover your captured units.

Sure! Fog of war maps are bullshit! But you have a lot of chances to get torches and you should have some units w high def/mag (magic = res in thracia) to help you get through them otherwise.

Yeah you'll need theives and a bunch of door keys but like. You get 3 thieves throughout the game (assuming you recruit everyone) and keys are sold in a lot of shops so if you don't have any that's really on you tbh.

Plus thracia has fun stuff! Tina's theif staff is an example. You can literally just get free shit that way really. "But staves can miss!" Only if your unit's skill is >10 and even then, the staves don't lose durability and you still get exp so

And bad growths? Scrolls! Missed a hit on a enemy? Movement stars can help with that! Feel like your units aren't getting enough exp? Paragon/Elite mode exists to give you 4 times as much exp! (Use the code -> <- -> <- -> <- -> -> in the new game menu) Also you can edit the colors on the menus to be whatever you want etc etc

Something about Tsukasa, the most show-off character ever, who always stands out and has so many of these flashy card, getting a fes card that's surprisingly... simple. Domestic. ""Plain"" even, in comparison to what we were used to (mostly the trained version but some could argue the untrained as well)

I know we were expecting something grand like Tsukasa himself and I see a lot of people being disappointed but honestly... I think this fits a lot actually. This might've just been the best choice for Tsukasa' fes

Because really, under all that attitude and boldness and showing off, Tsukasa's dream and feelings are kind of... simple. To make people smile. To be a world famous star, yes, but that's only the means to the goal of making everyone around the world happy

This is one of the most important developments of Tsukasa from how he was in the main story. Being a star is NOT just being a great, famous actor to him – he's proven it countless times. It's obviously a very big part of it, but if it was just about acting then why does he also constantly reference to being a "star" in more "mundane" situations unrelated to acting?

A star inspires. A star makes his sister smile. A star doesn't worry those around him. A star helps those in need. A star guides those who are lost. A star would choose to save the amusement park that makes everyone happy and means the world to his best friend instead of trying to win a contest to gain fame. These aren't exactly things related to being an actor or a celebrity

It's more as if a part of being a "star" is... being like a big brother?

Tsukasa's whole dream stemmed from just him wanting to make Saki smile; shows were just what proved to be something that could achieve it. Is it really such a surprise then that this is what his goal revolves around as well? What he believes a "star" should be when they're not on a stage? And what his fragment SEKAI bases on?

Not on being a flashy, famous star in the spotlight. But on being the person you can rely on that will take care of your worries and turn your frown upside down. Someone you will look at and think of home. And that's something so simple and domestic, and something I feel like is reflected really nicely in his trained fes

Hell, his outfit is called "Kind Brother" too. Because that's who Tsukasa is first and foremost, to himself

there should be a very low stakes fire emblem. like politically, i mean. a game not really about saving the world from an entire evil country/church/dragon/your own incompetence but like more personal issues that wouldn't rock the world if it went either way but has devastating impacts for the player and their friends.

The gameplay of fire emblem, and SRPGs in general is very well suited for simulating large battles. Removing these global stakes while keeping the classic large-scale gameplay will create a noticeable disconnect between the gameplay and the story. You will have to tweak the gameplay heavily to make it fit.

A great way to do that is to lower the amount of playable characters, reduce deployment slots, shorten maps, reduce the length of the game and make the maps much more puzzle-like in their design. There are definitely several ROM Hacks that do this very well, but I doubt we ever will have an official game like this.

Also what you described also counts as high stakes, they are just personal to the characters instead of affecting the entire world the hypothetical game takes place in.

There was a discussion about fandom interpretation in a discord server and Ashe was brought into it, specifically how people see him as a flat character in the fandom, and I responded with this

"Ashe isn't a flat character as much as he is reserved and takes the time to look at the bright side and not dwell on the bad things in conversations too often. His trauma isn't brought up often because he tries his hardest to not let it weigh on him, no matter how much it actually does, because he wants to be strong. Strong for everyone around him, strong for his siblings, strong for himself. "Ashe is flat" is a handwave people use because Ashe's trauma isn't as prominent in his character like Sylvain or Bernadetta. Yes, his trauma shaped him, as every character's trauma has, that's what trauma does, but he's doing his best with what he was given and is grateful to be where he is"
