I've commissioned some designs for an author logo and a book cover, and I would love some impartial feedback! ( I can't enlist anyone I know IRL without giving my pen name away, you see...😅)
You don't need to be a professional by any means, I'm really just looking for helpful opinions, though some familiarity with publishing and design would obviously help. But really, all I need at this point is another set of eyes so it's not ONLY me making the executive decision on this. 😅
You shouldn't really have to know anything about the book itself other than the genre.
I'm happy to offer the same in return to anyone who needs it! Thank you so much!
If you're interested, feel free to reply or send me a message, or just help me out by reblogging! 🥰
Doing something nice for a "selfish" or self-serving reason doesn't cancel out the fact that you did a nice thing. Unless you tell them, nobody knows your motivation behind doing the nice thing.
It makes no difference to them.
Bring home-baked goods to a gathering so people compliment your food and tell you how incredible at baking you are. Donate to charity to impress people. Smile and be kind and polite so people like you. Compliment people in the hopes they'll compliment you back. Help someone pick up their things because it makes you feel like the main character. Let a stressed parent with crying children cut ahead of you in line because you just want the loud kids to be gone as soon as possible.
People don't know why you did it.
People do know what you did.
People know you brought home-baked goods to a gathering. Charity got a donation. People know you were smiling and kind and polite to them. People know they got a compliment. People know someone helped them pick up their things. The parent knows you did a kind thing for them.
Whether you do it selflessly or self-servingly, your action doesn't change, nor does its impact.
Not doing nice things because you "just want something in return so it's selfish" is worse than doing nice things for self-serving reasons.
Putting good vibes out into the world because you want to pretend you're a dashing and chivalrous young lad whose wealthy family tragically passed leaving you to inherit the mysterious family mansion and all the men admire you and all the ladies talk about what an honest, good young man you are and all the nonbinaries get gender envy from you and the unlabeled and agender folks just think you're really cool and everyone attracted to men fancies you is good and harmless and fun.
You can other peoples' days and your own day better simultaneously. So do it.
nine years, part three by Danielle Nelson

Plus nine days, because I can't keep up these days. Grateful for such a lovely wedding all those years ago, and for all the time since. Image made with my Nikon F100.
A runs a bakery, and spends most of their evenings working on early orders for customers and preparing dough and batter for baking the next morning. After struggling to get done with a particularly big order, they call B late into the evening and ask for a favor: Come to the shop to help get everything done, in exchange for payment in baked goods and showers of affection.
"The favors of the LORD I will sing forever; through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”; in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness."
"There is a favor I need to ask, to tell the truth," said William. Vetinari smiled.
"Of course. If I can do anything for the Ti--"
"Will you be going to Harry King's daughter's wedding on Saturday?"
To his secret delight, the look that Vetinari gave him seemed to be blank because the man hadn't got anything to fill it with. But Drumknott leaned towards him, and there were a few whispered words.
"Ah?" said the Patrician. "Harry King. Ah, yes. A positive incarnation of the spirit that has made our city what it is today. Haven't I always said that, Drumknott?"
"Yes indeed, sir."
"I shall certainly attend," said Lord Vetinari. [...]
"In return, however," said the Patrician, "I must ask you not to upset Commander Vimes." He gave a little cough. "More than necessary."
Pitch is the favor type, but in a quiet way, you have to find someone who knows a guy to help and you gotta give them something in return. A favor.
I can imagine a scenario where St North or Toothiana or even Bunnymund need help and they are willing to do a favor for it, made to not know who this person who now they own a favor to.
This person being Pitch Black, it also would make sense on why it would be more anonymous than anything. I mean it's shown that no one really likes Pitch and as soon as that name comes out all credibility would have been for nothing. Pitch only comes out when he knows it's time, when he knows that they can't, they won't tell anyone.
This is more of a gang and mafia feel to it tbh (yes I am quite well aware that I'm just kind of throwing buzz word out but you get the idea of what I mean.)
When you don't know who Pitch Black is then he has all the credit in the world.
