While I was writing my oneshot I just realised something. You know how in FATWAS (Falcon and the Winter Solider) he always points out Bucky’s staring. I don’t think it’s actually staring though.

I think it’s disassociating.

Look, Bucky undeniably has a fuck tonne of trauma and one of the biggest signs and repercussions of copious amounts of trauma is disassociating. Wether it’s because he’s remembering something bad. In a situation that causes him distress or in the presence of someone who has cause him harm *cough* Zemo *cough*

I only realised this just recently but o feel like it should have been so obvious to me because I disassociate in the same situations he does

(I would judt like to put a disclaimer that I am not a medical practicioner, I am not a therapist and at this point in time I an undiagnosed with C-PTSD, this is all unverified personal gnosis and all based off of my own experiences and what I can compare from that)

Halloween Sam Wilson Headcanon

Sam loves Halloween. Him and Sarah alaways competed who could get more candy, but afterwards they’d always trade to get their favorites. Definitely dressed up as Cap one year when he was really young. He also went as an Aviator one year as well. He’d be really bad at carving pumpkins. Like couldn’t make a triangle bad. But Sarah hated touching the guts so they worked together to come up with cool looking designs. When Cas and Aj where born he always helped out Sarah. He’s typically took them trick or treating but sometimes he’d stay back to hand out candy. One year he took out the boat for a spoopy ghost tour. He did it too after FATWAS. He’d show Bucky all about Halloween in the 21 century. Bucky hates scary stuff so Sam makes sure avoid it. Sam would totally make them do silly stupid Couple costumes, they’ve done PB&J, salt and pepper, and Mario and Luigi. Most Halloween’s they just spend with Sarah, helping with trick or treaters or talking Cas and Aj Trick or Treating. Bucky would help carve our amazing Pumpkins with Sarah and Cas. Sam would love help decorating the house and the boat. Aj Would dress up as Cap and Sam would be obligated to come along. Durning Aj’s Halloween class party, Sam would come like a parent cause Sarah was busy and help pass out food and stuff. His favorite candy would definitely be snickers.

When he was in the army he’d really miss Sarah durning Halloween. She’d send him candy and pictures of Cas and Aj and what not. When he was on the run after Civil war he’d always find some out of the way store and pick up big bags of candy trying to lift up everyone’s spirit up. He’d pull not scare pranks but more practical ones. He’d fine an old bed sheet and run around you know and make them all laugh a little.
