the carl mention in this ep is still weighing on me so much because it was just so beautiful the way his memory lives on but also it got me thinking: you ever think that lori would be so relieved right now that rick and michonne have found each other because michonne is for rick what lori couldn’t be for him and also because there is at least someone other than rick who is still alive to mourn her son when so many others either can’t or aren’t…

Nobody talks about the trope of doing stupid and selfish things to save the love of your life. To keep them alive or safe because you love them enough to do the craziest and most dangerous things possible.
I want to talk about this trope with WayHaught.
S2: Waverly damns the whole world to save Nicole’s life. Then she blows up the god damn Earp barn with her, Nicole and Jeremy in it to bring them back to the primary reality instead of the alternate one they’re in because the Iron Witch Waverly made a deal with to save Nicole decided she wanted to be petty and throw them into an alternate Universe with no Wynonna in.
S4: Nicole promises to trade Doc to Mama Clanton to save Waverly from the Garden. She doesn’t deliver after Waverly, Doc and Wynonna are back home so Mama Clanton puts a frog-barf curse on her as punishment. So to deal with that Nicole decides to submerge and drown herself in a tub of freezing cold water to temporarily die so that she can transfer her consciousness to a frog she barfed up. She ends up leaving the frog’s body because Waverly gets reaped so Nicole goes after the reaper when he tries to attack Waverly. Then because Nicole is almost dead Waverly murders Mama Clanton to both end the frog-barf curse she put on Nicole and to save her life yet again.
These crazy bitches are so in love with each other and so desperate to keep one another alive and safe that they’d let everything crash and burn around them just to do it. Just to achieve the unfathomable all for love.
Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah. In ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ in ‘When Fates Collide’ when an alt-Gabrielle decides to burn the Fate’s loom and let the whole alt-Universe go boom all because alt-Xena’s nailed to Caesar’s cross and they can’t be together.
What do you call this trope? Is there a name for it? I fucking love it! I think it’s batshit insane but I love it!

My dear friend @jessicasecord asked Katherine Fugate at the Xena Con about the circumstances of my favorite scene in the entire show: the balcony scene in When Fates Collide.
Here's the answer:
She said that the scene was almost exactly as written, and that it was intended to be like the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene. In R&J he sees Juliet and backs up against the wall really fast and that is what Lucy was meant to do and she nailed it. As far as the look, they were told to play it as a love story, it was written 100% as an intentional love story and Lucy nailed the look at Gabrielle 100%
