Firm Counsel

Fastred was the seventh child and youngest son. He came to his majority in Edoras and was a Marshal of the Riddermark. He carried word to the Shire when his father requested the company of Master Holdwine, and escorted Merry and Pippin back to Edoras.

Afterwards little is known, for he took to wandering the wilds, drifting between the hearths of his kith and kin. It is said that he chose to accompany his mother in her path following her departure from Imladris when his siblings came of age. However, this is all mere rumor and no one who knows of his whereabouts spoke of them.

The last confirmed sighting of Fastred, wherein he had the visage of an elderly man, was shortly after the departure of his siblings to Valinor. He had a loud argument with his brother, Ethelfrith, where he was heard to curse the Valar for abandoning them and the grief they had caused his family due to their favoritism of Luthien and the lack of choice for the rest. He rode away from Gondor to the South and passed through his sister Laywyn’s lands.

It is unknown where Fastred met his end, or if he did, for there was no more news of him. It is generally accepted that, while Fastred had inherited the longevity of the elves, he was as mortal as the Dunedain, due to the age he showed last. In recent years, however, there have been murmurings of a revered immortal in distant lands, who freed the people from the yoke of tyranny. And that there flies a banner with a  horse running on a green field.

I like the implication that Bassianus is only interested in taking away Fastred because he wants to teach Klimmek the right way of wooing a potential romance. Like that's literally the only reason why. Like even the inn owner tells him, "Klimmek is doing just fine. You should follow your heart 💖". It makes it sound like he's actually interested in Klimmek but he hasn't realized it yet 😫.

Thank you guys so much for all your continuous support! I didn’t think I’d get here this fast! I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get the FNAF Recap/Repair comics done before I hit this milestone.. But! That’s okay, Its almost done and the first part will hopefully be posted soon!

Summary: A new face introduced as the Batchers lay low from the Empire.

Warnings/Tags: fluff — tell me if I've missed anything!

The stench of the parlor was definitely an unfamiliar waft for Crosshair. When his brothers told him about a place they could lay low from the Empire, he didn't exactly have this... shelter in mind. At least there were tables for Dejarik as well as receiving his trusty rifle back, otherwise he'd be bored out of his mind. Maybe use the rusty parts of droids by the bins as target practice.

"You, Toothpick, what's so mesmerising that yew gotta stare at it for so long?" Cid snapped so abruptly. It seems Crosshair hasn't been paying attention to any of what she was saying. Hunter, who stood to her right, discreetly shook his head, grinning. Hunter didn't blame his inattentiveness. It wasn't so long ago they all fled from the Empire — shocking, amirite? — and had to keep a low profile which also means hand-to-mouth.

Crosshair, on the other hand, was more surprised that someone dare raised their voice at him. Especially someone who wasn't a clone or ranks higher than Hunter. He kept his composure anyway, spitting out his toothpick only to replace it with another one. It was probably a silent way of saying, 'don't talk to me when you own a dog shelter' or something like that.

"Oh, it litters too," Cid rolled her eyes, chucking Tech, who stood beside Crosshair, the information disk for a retrieval mission, "Now, hustle, hustle, this thing ain't collecting itself!" she waved her arms in a shooing motion before grabbing her weapon (walking) stick and walking back to her office.

Crosshair was told that they were all introduced to Cid from Echo, so he sent the ARC trooper a "generous" stare at what was basically Crosshair's first impression of her.

As long as his brothers were fine with it, he'd go along like he always had.

Like old times.

My most recent rabbithole of research tells me that in Tolkien's world, twins are significantly more common among Elves than Men. In fact there are only two known pairs of twins in the race of Men:

Haleth and Haldar, who crossed the Blue Mountains at the beginning of the first age.

Folcred and Fastred, brothers of King Fengel (and great-great-uncles to Eowyn, Eomer and Theodred

So naturally, I'm taking this information and creating a headcanon that Theodred had a stillborn twin sister. Because he's my Special Little Guy and I wanna give him more Special Little Guy points :)

(p.s - this sister would have been named Idis, as a nod to the daughter of Theoden who appeared in earlier drafts of LOTR)

(p.s.s- Elfhild died in childbirth, so in a way it kinda follows that the pregnancy would be more likely to have complications if it as a multiple one, right?)
