Whilst I made a Scarlet Witch redesign about a few months ago, I decided to redesign the redesign cause I wasn’t proud of it. And I changed my fancast from Tatiana Eva-Marie to Oona Chaplin, who is of Romani descent.

I made the crown a mix of her iconic headpiece and the crown Kevin Wada designed, and made the skirt more flowy and less droopy. The crown was also inspired by Wanda’s crown that she wore to the Hellfire Gala. Plus, I added some gold rings, a gold brooch that has Wanda’s symbol on it, and pink sleeves to emulate her iconic leotard. The top half of the design is also inspired by a concept art of Agatha Harkness I found on Pinterest.

would you be down to give me a rough outline of how Prowl has been characterized over the publication history of the tf comics? I mean, in as far as you know about it. Every time you mention the costa stuff it makes me curious

I can try! I can't really drill down well without a thing to focus on specifically, but here are some general highlights.

Furman (and stuff that directly draws from Furman's run, like AHM as a whole) characterizes him basically as he did when writing Marvel G1, and gives him so little to do that not very much really comes out even then. Uptight, stick-in-his-ass, still a basically Good Guy TM and while he puts people's backs up a little, he's not under any level of suspicion. This is the closest to continuity-agnostic "fanon Prowl" you get in IDW, because that fanon figure draws quite a lot on the Marvel G1 characterization (when it isn't simply making things up wholesale, anyway). Furman copies his own homework, basically, lmao.

Roche is the guy who wrote phase two Prowl into existence as we know him. Rather infamously because he thought it was an interesting take on the character to er, ignore all the above stuff and make the Autobot SIC a rat bastard, lmao. Roche and Barber's interpretations came to dominate the character in IDW going forward, but they do differ. Roche's Prowl is more isolated from other characters (one does not really imagine Wreckers Prowl calling Bumblebee his best friend sincerely, as exRiD Prowl does), and people treat him as disliked by default. Even before the worst of what he does comes out, his reputation precedes him. Also, Roche's Prowl speaks fairly neutrally, whereas exRiD Prowl speaks more casually than fandom tends to admit to! Finally, Roche's Prowl is less spontaneously, outwardly emotional than Barber's is later on, and tends to fit the fanon stereotype of "always restrained" more.

Costa came in post-AHM but pre-Wreckers and hated all that, so he retconned it. LMAO. His Prowl is the archetype of the "good cop" protagonist surrounded by corruption, combined with surface level noir tropes that sort of work in tandem with those but lacking any grit. (Costa seems to understand what noir looks and sounds like, but none of the underlying narrative devices that make it function as noir.) This Prowl is specifically supposed to be (here's the retcon) someone who used to be more deliberately cold, removed and logical but who has specifically decided to change to be different following his experiences on Earth. (Spotlight: Prowl is a good one-issue explanation of Costa's perspective on Prowl, which is not the same as being a good comic.) As time goes on, the sheer unpopularity of this take pushed Costa to undo it a bit, and reintroduce some level of ambivalence to him... but by and large he remains kind of the "good authority figure who objects when the systems are misused" type, almost? His conflict with Spike is very much over the fact he expected better of Spike, see.

Barber's Prowl notably does not wholly throw the Costa stuff out the window. (This is why the Spike stuff features a lot; it's really the only strong emotional hook Costa's work gives you for his version of the character to grab at.) But Prowl is back to being a morally gray figure whose moral ambivalence is very strongly tied to his role as an authority figure- and that's worth mentioning. Prowl's downward spiral being intrinsically linked to his refusal to relinquish authority, and his abuse of it, is something that is all Barber and not Roche. (In Wreckers, Prowl is an asshole because of personal arrogance. In exRiD, he's more an asshole because of his role enabling a wider system, by the end. IMO that's a big difference, anyway.) He is not starting off exRiD loathed by absolutely everyone, or a figure of preexisting serious mistrust. That's something that develops over the course of the comic as things come to light for the characters in-universe, meaning exRiD Prowl feels like he's put up a more convincing shield in front of his worse dealings over the course of the war, perhaps. His position deteriorates significantly over the comic. He is more prone to balancing his deliberate cold-heartedness with angry or emotional outbursts than we saw in Wreckers, leading to him having multiple outbursts that worsen his situation over the course of the comic. This is the Prowl who holds grudges.

Roberts' Prowl is kind of different to talk about to the above because his Prowl in Shadowplay and his Prowl in Titans Return are different genres. I can do a post on that if folks really want but it probably is its own post, haha.

it’s so funny to me that, not only is the MCU fandom divided into fans of different characters or series, it’s also divided into how much of canon you consider canon. Even from there, the fandom splits based on what their main issue is with the media.

Like, yeah, you can have two MCU fans.

But one has only ever watched the Avengers movies, they wholeheartedly believe in Canon and Nothing Else, their main issue with the movies is that there wasn’t enough fight scenes

the other stopped watching Avengers after age of ultron but frequently rewatched solo movies, their headcanons are far more real to them than 70% of canon, and their main issue with the movies is that they strayed from the comics

like that’s not the same fandom

Anytime I see someone trashing a fic (or a group of fics through generalization) saying it’s “poorly written” or “out of character” or “didn’t end the way it should have” my blood literally begins to boil

Like- do people not understand that fanfiction is being written 100% for free? By people who do it as a hobby. By people who genuinely love the stuff they’re writing about. No media has as much love poured into it as fanfic. No matter how “technically good” it is, no matter how “canon-compliant” it is.

I just hate seeing people discouraging fic writers- whether by accident or on purpose. The miraculous thing about fanfiction is- the source material already exists!! If you do not like the fic you are reading, you are allowed to exit out!

I will fight anyone who speaks badly about anyone’s fics, mark my words. Even if it’s a generalized statement like “fics for this ship always suck” or “this fandom always gets this character wrong” or “the writing for this fandom always sucks”

If it bothers you so much, then go write your own!!! You are the problem, not the folks out there putting their whole hearts into their works!!

Redrew this [ Old (June 2023) Vs New (Feb 2024)]

I've recently gotten a tablet and a new art program, now I dont have to use my old phone to draw anymore. It's crazy the difference now that I have a bigger screen to draw on 💀.

This is my first time drawing my own interpretation of Jake. He's still a work in progress. (I have some bits of his personality in coherent thought, but that's about it).

I imagine his impulse control is like that scene in Peacemaker where the two ladies asked, "What are we gonna do with this guy?" (He's tied up in the back of a moving van) and vigilante and Peacemaker immediately pull out a gun and try to shoot him.

He's very respectful, especially of elders, he's the type to help old ladies(people) cross the street.

Basically, he lives by the code of "Don't start nothin' there won't be nothin.

He's not ultra violent, either. He does what he needs to do in order to serve Konshu and protect the system, but he doesn't necessarily enjoy it. It's a job the same as being a taxi driver.

Of course, he still speaks Spanish, but he can also speak other languages as well. Out of the system, he's the one who can speak the most languages fluently. [Russian, Spanish, English, ect.].

Out of all of them, he has the more explicit mouth. He can get very creative with his curse words and insults

I can't think of anything else, so just ask. I'll come up with an answer.

was there a particular popular artist that gave sasha a hair bow and people have been subconsciously following after them ever since or did we all just listen to mag 26 a distortion and say "hehe bow." it's a more specific but low key look than other types of fanon fashion choices (jon's sweater vests, martin's jumpers, tim's hawiian shirts, melanie's alt style, elias's eye jewellery) and one that I've seen go completely unremarked upon. I like it, I'm just wondering where that came from.

#also unlike other fanon fashion I don't believe it carried over to cosplayers on tiktok #which makes a kind of sense. sasha/not sasha designs had a very specific vibe there so people could keep them visually distinct #while working around that fact that one cosplayer traditionally will only have one face to work with #tma #marina marvels at life

reading the comics of a character after coming from fanon really does showcase how fandom so often does not use a character to its fullest potential, often defaulting to simpler, blander mischaracterisations/archetypes. more utilising the idea of a character concept than an actual character. not to be bitter, fanon can be a fun starting point to a character you don't know, but why not start to engage with the actual character after? it's so much fun?
