Who would try trust with their life?
Akim: Their are quite a few people I'd say 'I trust with my life'. Back when I was alive, I trusted Fane Pavlov, Yi Do-Yun and my sister, Romana with my life. And now in the museum, I'd say I trust Ahkmenrah, Amelia, Evelyn, and Dorian with my life.

While Love Is A War
     Akim took a breath.
He had promised Fane that he'd meet him at Sokolniki park, as always.
But, Fane had been late--that wasn't like him.
Akim decided that he'd go to see Fane at his apartment.
Once he reached Fane's apartment, he knocked on the door.
Fane opened it, letting him in.
Fane gulped turning to Akim. "You shouldn't be here!"
       "Why not?" Akim questioned.
"They've found me," Fane simply said.
         "Who?"
That question wasn't answered--well at least not by verbally.
There came pounding from the otherside of the apartment door.
"You need to hide," Fane said.
There had been some protest from Akim, but in the end, he still hid.
           Just in time too.
The door burst open and a man shot Fane in the head.
Fane collapsed to the ground right away--bleeding out.
The man spit on Fane, turning back toward the door.
Akim slunk out of his hiding spot and place a bouquet of flowers, that he had picked for Fane, on Fane's chest.
Akim glanced toward the man who had been walking toward the door.
          Rage filt Akim.
Suddenly, he pulled out his pocket knife and launched forward.
Akim left a deep stab wound in the man's neck.
He slipped the knife back into his pocket.
Then Akim's eyes grew wide--it only just now registered to him of what he had done….he had killed someone.
His mouth began to grow dry. He ran out the door and found himself on a nearby bench.
          Then, Akim just cried.

Sokolniki
Something Akim did often was go to Sokolniki park.
He just found it relaxing to do so.
Akim found it as a way to get away from the city.
He took a seat on a bench.
There was already a boy about just a little older than him on in.
The boy looked at Akim. "Dobroye utro."
           "Privet." Akim slightly smiled.
"I'm Fane Pavlov," the boy greeted, putting out his hand.
Akim shook Fane's hand. "Akim Sidorenko."
            -
The spend moments more of briefly talking.
Fane blurted out, "I wanna live to the year 2000."
Akim glanced back toward the other boy.
Fane sighed. "I know it sounds weird, but, I really wanna live to the year 2000...that is if the world hasn't ended by then."
         "Fair enough."
"What's something about you, pretty boy?" Fane asked, curious.
Akim sighed before saying, "Since I was young, I've wanted to be a pilot...or at least fly a plane once...just once in my lifetime."
Akim gazed down to pocket watch. "I must be going," he said, getting up.
Fane called, "Can I meet you here tomorrow?"
There was a long bout of silence on Akim's part. Then Akim smiled saying, "Da--a quarter past ten."

"SCARRED NOSE"
NIKOLAI AKIM SIDORENKO XIII (1935-1951, aged 16)
(Born: February 1, 1935, 12:22 AM Moscow, Russia. Died: October 23, 1951, 12:22 AM Kirov, Russia).
Child of Nataliya & Nikolai Sidorenko XII. Younger brother of Romana Sidorenko.
Nikolai Akim Sidorenko XIII was born February 1st, 1935 in Moscow. He was the second of Nikolai XII and Nataliya's children. Akim was originally born to the name Nikolaevna Yevpraksiya Sidorenko.
Akim had never felt like he was 'female' (his gender assigned at birth). He realized that he was a boy. At this point, he still looked up to his father. He named himself after his father becoming Nikolai Akim Sidorenko XIII.
Akim's mother and sister seemed fine with it but his father didn't. (Well, that was until Akim heard Nataliya talking behind his back.)
His father insisted on calling Akim 'Niko' since it was a shortened version of his first name.
But, Akim later started to despise Niko and Nikolai after feeling like it was associated with being misgendered and his father.
     Akim was born with autism.
Akim had been unplanned and his father often said that it was all Akim's fault that they had money issues.
The family that he was born into was Jewish--but at eleven, he renounced his faith.
He often had a hard time trying to fit in at school.
Akim spent the first fifteen years of his life in and out of hospitals because he was a very sickly child.
Akim had a very good relationship with his uncle, Vasil Plisetsky (1910-1939)--Vasil was Nataliya's brother. Vasil had moved to Poland when Akim was three. Vasil died in the Holocaust. Akim's grandfather (Nataliya and Vasil's father) Drahoslav Plisetsky (1887-1939) died the Holocaust too.
(Drahoslav's brothers, Stanimir (1882-1908, 26 years old) and Vadik (1885-1959, 74 years old), played an important role in the Russian Revolution. Stanimir's death in 1908 caused Vadik to join the Bolsheviks to overthrow the royal family. Vadik was close to Lenin.)
Akim was higher in rank, so in the natm universe some people know who he is/was. In every picture of him after age 12, he has a scar across his nose--most people didn't refer to him as Akim or Sidorenko, but instead, "Scarred Nose." In the natm universe the people who know who he is but don't know his name refer to him as that as well, but put "General" in front of it. The scar comes from abuse from his father (1911-1952). (Nikolai Sidorenko XII died of heart disease in 1952).
And Akim's wax statue is made to look spot on to what he looks like.
Akim had a horrible relationship with his father, but a good one with his mother (1913-1981). (Nataliya Sidorenko died of brain cancer in 1981).
He had asked his father if he'd play ball with him in the park, and his father responded to him with:
"Kill a couple hundred men...and then I'll play ball."
This was something that happened quite often when Akim would ask something of his father.
His father even went as far to say, "kill a couple hundred men...then I'll talk to you."
Akim's idol was Amelia Earhart--Earhart made Akim want to be a pilot.
When Akim joined the military, he took it upon himself to uphold the ideals his father gave to him.
Akim had also joined the military in hopes that he'd be able to fly a plane--but, unfortunately, it didn't happen.
He thought he'd never please his father unless he killed 'a couple hundred enemy soldiers'.
When he was 15, Akim had been in a strong, secret relationship with his neighbor. A boy, only a year older than him, named Fane Pavlov (1934-1950).
Fane was outed, and murdered only months later.
Akim joined the Soviet military, under Stalin's rule, faking his age--stating he was "18" when he was actually 16.
The only relative that knew that Akim was gay, was his older sister, Romana (1930-2019.) (Romana Sidorenko/Bisset died of old age in 2019.)
Akim fought in the Korean war for a few months, before needing to go back to Moscow to have his bullet wounds tended to.
Akim was sort of like the Soviets' golden boy. Practically everyone in the USSR knew who he was--he was seen as a hero and plenty of kids played 'military games' where they'd pretend to be him.
Akim at one point during the Korean war was captured at tortured by the American soldiers. He had been found by Do-Yun (before Do-Yun had died), and helped back to the battle field.
Akim had dating with a North Korean soldier by the name of Yi Do-Yun (1934-1951) who was killed in battle.
He was in the military during the early parts of the cold war--he was only in the military during '51 and part of '50--the cold war was from 1947-1991. Akim was always prepared to have to go to war.
A colleague of his, Vlad Petrov (1929-1952), found out that Akim was gay.  Akim, Petrov, and Yuri Volkov (1927-1951) were sent out to patrol a Siberian village at Stalin's command--which Nikita Khrushchev had told Petrov about.
Akim had caught Tuberculosis.     Petrov promised Akim that he'd be back in Moscow before he knew it.
There were only two horses to ride back on since one died because of the cold.
Petrov would take one; Akim and Volkov the other.
As they were getting on the horses, Petrov asked if Volkov knew that Akim was gay.
Volkov said nothing at first but when Akim grabbed Volkov's hand to be pulled up onto the horse when Volkov offered, he shot Akim--several times (about 17 with poison laced bullets. He had gone after Volkov, but slipped on the ice which snapped his neck.)
The United States government had plans to assassinate Akim on 11/4/1951, but he was killed by his own men before the US could do so.
Volkov and Petrov rode back off to Moscow, leaving Akim to die.
Akim's body was never found, only his gun was. His mother kept custody of the gun until she died where it then was transported to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan.
Romana had married a very rich man, Pierre DuPont Bisset (1929-2015), and she convinced him to pay for the construction of a statue of Akim in her brother's favorite place...Sokolniki park.
Blond hair often signified being angelic in the USSR. The Soviets saw blonds as angels.
Akim often struggled with suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem, and self harm.
