Controversial opinion time! I see a lot of people saying Kurt didn’t get this solo for sectionals or whatever. But he did get a lot more than others - like a fully developed characterization and relationship. He also got a relationship with a developed parent and family which others didn’t. So his fans are lucky in that respect.

okayyy obviously i dont disagree with you about all that bc its true. i really think kurt was THE most developed character on the show. plus he really seemed to be (one of) the only characters that actually kept growing forward instead of having a dozen redundant backslides like everyone else seemed to

okay so. kurt did get a ton of good solos. aaand i think almost every one of them was amazing. like maybe some aren't my personal faves but i think they're all good (except i'll remember, my worst enemy </3 [and even then its just the context thats stinky])

it wasnt like with rachel or blaine or yes i'm sorry even mercedes who had like a dozen throwaway solos that all sound the same and it's like obviously you sound good but we've heard this a million times before and im boreddd. obviously personal music taste is going to factor in but i think kurt's range of solos were like the least repetitive and boring lmao (out of those listed above. i think other characters had a good variety)

plus like a good chunk of the "solos" listed on kurt's wiki page are like "album version only" bc it was a duet in the show. defying gravity, dcfma, bring him home, and a house is not a home are all listed under his solos (and out of those, i still count ahinah as a solo cause finn had like one dusty line and its easy to ignore) but he only had 13 real true solos throughout the show

he was the only original club member not to get even one last solo in s6 (while rachel had 4, mercedes had 3, and even sam and santana got their own)

also there were plenty of instances of him having a solo line in a group song that was also album only and got cut in the show version :|

Also they weirdly limited his number of duet partners?? like he had a million duets with blaine and rachel, and outside of that, two with mercedes, two with elliott, and two with maggie (that chris had to write in himself) and 5/6 of those were in s5 alone... where were his duets with the rest of the glee club?? where's my kurtana duet, my hevans duet, my kurtina duet, my kartie duet, i could literally go on all day for every club member

ALSO it's like they purposefully wrote in moments for him to sing just to have him not sing. he organizes a whole wedding for his dad and gets the glee club to perform but he doesnt actually get to sing. he organizes a vday party at breadstix but doesnt sing. literally every other major soloist in the club is gone and his big competition moment is like 2 lines. he forms his own goddamn band just to not sing a single word in the first song that they perform. and when his band does perform its 1) in a fantasy sequence and then 2) happens off screen

so idk like i think if you just look at everything he did, it's all pretty good. but once you look deeper and really start to examine it you're like ...wait a minute. like even if he got a lot (especially compared to like quinn or tina) the show still manages to make it feel like he got cheated lmao and i just think they were playing dirty at times

but idk he's my fave so im always gonna want more for him but i am happy with what we do have. and happy he's the best character ever no questions asked uwu

For a man we haven’t really seen in ages Harry sure is managing to fill the news pages! We did get a picture of him today though, and it is truly one of those thousand words type pictures-- he’s wearing a bucket hat that’s a frog!! Amazing! A frog hat for our fave frog faced boy, we love to see it. But I guess we weren’t MEANT to see it, so some of those words were discourse-- apparently it wasn’t meant to be shared publicly and the person who did so could get whoever originally had it in trouble, so people are asking that it come down. It’s a picture from the DWD set-- the movie officially wrapped yesterday, and today we get a last day group pic (Harry in a baseball jacket), the controversial pic with the girlies (Florence and others) in matching kids frog hats, and someone from the set showed off their impressive pile of gifts from the cast, tagging Harry on a gorgeous white bouquet. Will we get a wrap on the Holivia story too or are they keeping that one in their pocket for more headlines down the line? Time will tell, though for narrative coherence I hope they follow through on the love triangle we heard so much about with some sort of dramatic conclusion to it all; the awkward confrontation between Harry and Jason the tabs were predicting doesn’t seem at all likely to me, but I look forward to the Jason/Olivia reconciliation storyline rolling out for sweeps week er, I mean for Jason’s TV show’s new season or the Grammys or something else equally obvious.

Beauty Papers Magazine revealed their surprise-- a (very) limited edition reprint of their Harry issue with a variant cover (and what a pretty picture it is!). The website probably would have crashed no matter how many they offered but seriously, only 450 copies? Yikes. “Not all countries will be able to buy” they said and friends, they were not kidding; even aside from there only being enough copies for about .01% of the people who wanted to buy, the website instantly and comprehensively crashed and stayed down for most of the day. Why such a very small run? I wonder if the fact that half the announcement is about the tracking info they plan to offer may be a clue-- they did bite off more than they could chew with the original issue, they spent months fielding emails from fans wondering where their expensive magazine was and begging for tracking info.

Harris Reed was interviewed about his upcoming fashion show and spoke of Harry, naturally, saying “I’m fighting for beauty in fluidity and Harry just really understands the way gender can be restrictive.” He also said that he has chosen to revert to using he/him pronouns, reminding us all that using male (or female) pronouns does not conflict with having a gender fluid, non binary, or other trans identity.

Niall followed up last week’s “Miss you (heart)“ tweet with a Valentine’s Day appropriate “Love you (heart)“. Is it meant for us? Thank you?? Zayn tweeted about UFC (the Mixed Martial Arts spon-con thing), and Gigi posted a bunch of pics of her and Zayn being snuggly, as well as one showing his hands holding a ‘dad’ mug, a pic of their Vogue cover, and a picture from the basement arcade birthday party. Maya posted a picture of her and Liam and he has short hair, but remain calm, it appears to be from 2019. Eleanor posted a pic of… some feet walking beside hers. And a selfie of herself with BFF Ella. Meanwhile, Project Defenseless participants are still working away, winning the song a spot on Most Requested Live again, and trending “just wanna be loved by you” for VDAY.

To be honest Colin has always been very detached from his fans. So no Xmas greetings, no Happy Valentine's, no nothing. I love the guy but sometimes I wish he could be a little more sympathetic with his fan base in general. It's all part of his PR so he should really work a little more on that if he wants to continue his acting career. Just my 2 cents.

He’s connected enough when he’s doing cons or whatever. He gives 100% in those instances, from what I’ve seen. Fans really can’t expect much more than that from their faves. I mean, their time and their lives are their own and we can’t expect them to behave any specific way just because their work is done in the public eye.

That said, yeah, Colin is definitely less involved with his fandom than some stars are in a general sense. I don’t think it’ll hurt his career, because the majority of people who watch shows and movies and consume an actor’s content aren’t “in the fandom” so to speak and aren’t really involved with their “faves” on social media or whatever. They’re what you might call “normal people” XD

And, to be honest, I get the impression that Colin wouldn’t mind being a bit less famous, so long as he didn’t get less-famous enough that he stopped getting work. But I don’t think “fame” is what Colin’s really after. He seems, if anything, a little uncomfortable with it at times.

Anyway, I DID get testy about it when he didn’t wish us a Merry Christmas that one year. I even sent him a picture of boring white socks out of spite. It was a dark moment in our entirely-one-sided relationship. But other than that one time, he’s usually pretty good about wishing us all a happy whatever-holiday-it-is, which is quite nice of him, and this past Christmas we even got an adorable Merry Christmas from him during his appearance on Karen David’s instalive event and he even wore a cute Christmas sweater and a Santa hat and it was truly lovely and genuinely made my holiday :)

But in all the years I’ve been following him, he hasn’t wished us a Happy Valentines Day, and I feel like it’s NOT happened enough times now that I can’t help thinking it’s on purpose. Maybe he just likes to keep that holiday private for him and Helen and his family or something? I don’t know, but I respect it, whatever it is, and I’ve come to expect there to be no VDay interaction.

ANYWAY... As I always say, if the fave you’re following doesn’t interact the way you’d like them to, it’s on you to leave that fave and find one who does. Celebrities can’t please everyone and they shouldn’t feel like they have to. The right fans will find their right faves and both sides of the equation will be happy with the end result. That’s my thoughts on the matter, anyway.

What draws me to Colin, primarily, is his sincerity. So I’d rather have sincere distance than fake involvement for PR reasons, if that makes sense :) I like shouting “Get in!” at him. He’ll post more when he’s back at work. It’s like a hiatus now. Nothing going on. Nothing to tweet about.

My blog’s kinda on hiatus, too. We’re all just hanging out at the mo.

I give it an 8 because my personal enjoyment is a LOOOT and I appreciate some of the detail that goes into it and the obscure characters they put in. I literally would not know who the Cavalier is if not for DCSHG.

My favourite character

ZEE ZEE ZEE

Zatanna Zee Zatara, one of the characters of all time. She's everything. Of course she is one of my fav DC characters in general but this is one of my fav iterations of her. Of course, I find myself relating heavily to her in many aspects... She is important to me. U_U

I'm SO obsessed with the bits of lore they're throwing at us now with her powers and mom... DCSHG Sindella WHEN!!

My least favourite character

That's genuinely hard LOL... I guess I would say Lex Luthor on account of him being Lex Luthor and I'm just like... generally not a fan of him??

he absolutely has his moments but I have to like... dislike him on principle for being lex.

There's a good fraction of the cast I think I could be friends with, but Karen and I would be besties I know this for a FACT.

My favourite episode/scene

THAT'S SOOOO HARD, of course I adore the Zee birthday episode, especially because I'm obsessed with when Zee has her little fucked up and evil moments. Any Zee and Karen episode are up there for me, my two faves. OHHH THE BIRD AND THE BEE IS ANOTHER BIG ONE I ADORE THAT EPISODE!!

But I also... really love the Vday episode. I love seeing Sinestro trying to make Hal jealous. Like okay? Are you gay or something?

Whose clothing style I like best

Zatanna and Diana definitely, especially Zatanna, it's the kind of thing I would wear day to day, though my style is most like Babs and Karen's atm just because... that is the kind of stuff I own.

Times I watched it (and if I would again)

I've never done a full rewatch (yet), but I've rewatched a bunch of episodes a bunch of times so I think that speaks for itself LOL

where do u think the line is when we're discussing stuff about dnp? dunno if you've seen the recent posts on idb, but there was an issue about the thread name being too similar to the vday vid. i understand why ppl weren't too happy with it, but now i don't know what we can talk about and what we can't. they've also deleted old tweets/formspring answers/dailybooths before, so can we talk about those? or is it bc til this day phil still hunts down the vid and claims them so there's a difference?

There’s a lot in this question. If it’s about what’s ok on IDB, I think Mandy did a clarification post and linked to the rules. Obviously, there are things that might be fine via the rules and still get people upset, like the thread title.

If it’s about what I think is okay, I’m pretty low on boundaries in fan spaces (and pretty high on them on D&P’s official tags, social media, etc.). I think the gray areas for me are mostly around family and friends who are not in the public eye, and that’s a longer discussion, but I’m generally okay with fictionalization but think that factual conversation should stay private among people we trust not to stalk or harrass. (I tend to think tweets/formspring/dailybooth/videos that were deliberately public at one time are fair game for discussion because that’s the way the internet works, and honestly most of the time I wouldn’t know whether or not a tweet has been deleted.)

Personally, I didn’t have a problem with the thread title; yeah, sure, it’s a vday vid reference, but I don’t see much value in pretending that we haven’t seen the vday vid if we have. (I also do think that the presence of “cherry” references in deliberately-public spaces also makes it feel like less of a Personal Thing than things that only appear in the vday vid. Like my fave, the abandoned hospital, which I talk about all the time, sorry about it.) That’s not to say we should mention anything in D&P spaces or reupload the video, but if people saw the thread title, they’re either not gonna get the reference or they know about the vid already. To me, the only harm is the discomfort it gave some forum members, whose feelings are valid even though they’re not ones I have. (The argument that it’s “disrespectful” to D&P, in fan spaces, doesn’t work for me; I just don’t think it’s reasonable to say that the only “respectful” thing to do is collectively forget that things that happened happened. Shitty things happen, and it’s mean to tease people about them, but there’s a lot of middle ground between that and a gag rule.)

Look at me, having opinions that probably a lot of people disagree with, and that maybe I haven’t thought out well! If anyone wants to have a reasonable conversation about this, I really haven’t codified my feelings. I mostly talk about these things in private, and I am open-minded about fic that addresses what it wants to address because I love fic, so I’ve mostly been governed by other people’s lines.

st. valentine- i am trying/hoping to be more open about love in general!! i was one of those “vday SUCKS love SUCKS” people bc i was stupid and in a bad mindset for a while, but love is honestly such a pure thing and i want to appreciate all forms of it more than i had in the past!! i just want 2 be full of love for all the people important to me and i want them to be able to feel loved!!
