Abercrombie and Fitch Back to School 2010 by clothing and doll designer, Youngsin Kwan. From her blog archives.
I really love a layered, embellished, preppy grunge look right now. This is like A&F by way of Anthropologie a bit. I hated Abercrombie in high school naturally, but of course now I miss when they had a very strong point of view which when I allowed myself to shop there starting in 2012 in college they were on the last legs of. I miss when stores didn’t try to be everything trendy at once to the point of blandness (aka, in the final moments before extreme fast fashion), but had a stronger single aesthetic point of view - an experience, if you will.
At some point after that one gross CEO left the company, they attempted a re-brand by going back to a very historic logo which I thought was kinda cool. They could’ve held fast to the old world preppy look, and I think they should have full ran with that. Instead, they appear to have ditched that direction since and their brand is entirely devoid of a point of view any more at least based on their website. Maybe soon they’ll figure out what the prices of their baby doll tops are going for on Depop, and capitalize on that.
