Reformation Day 2023
Today is Reformation Day, the day some 500 years ago that dramatically impacted the Christian church. If you attend a non-Roman Catholic church that proclaims faith in Jesus for salvation, you can thank God for THIS Day.
Tumblr media
Martin Luther, the father of modern day faith based preaching, chose this day, October 31st, all Hallows Eve, a CHRISTIAN holiday when Christians prepared themselves to celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st, to proclaim that salvation only comes through faith in Christ.

#DailyDevotion What Is The Will Of The Father That Makes Jesus Know You?
Tumblr media
#DailyDevotion What Is The Will Of The Father That Makes Jesus Know You? Matt. 7:21-23 21Not everyone who calls Me 'Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does what My Father in heaven wants. 22Many will say to Me on that Day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?' 23Then I will tell them frankly, “I never knew you. Get away from Me, you who are so busy doing wrong.” I think a lot of people get confused by this passage. They think Jesus is talking about doing works when he says, “only the one who does what My Father in heaven wants.” This understanding is taken in opposition to just saying, “Lord, Lord.” That is to say, people say Jesus is speaking against faith in Jesus alone saves you. However, Jesus is saying nothing of the such here. Jesus is not speaking against those who teach faith in Jesus alone saves. To believe that is to simply ignore the context. They don't go to verse 22 which is key. So what is happening in verse 22? People are claiming they should be saved because they prophesied in the name of Jesus. They drove out demons in Jesus' name. They did many miracles in Jesus' name. Seems to me these people are not operating on the faith in Jesus alone principle. They in fact are not just saying, “Lord, Lord” but are in fact doing a lot of things in Jesus' name. Prophesying, exorcisms and miracles seem to be pretty good things most of the time. Yet Jesus says the most damning thing to these people, “I never knew you. Get away from Me, you who are so busy doing wrong.” Can there be any more damning thing than for Jesus to say, “I don't know you”? Who is the one who does what the will of Jesus' Father? Who does Jesus know? Jesus says in Joh 6:40 (ESV) “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” In chapter 10 of John Jesus says, “26But you don't believe, because you're not My sheep. 27My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Doing the will of the Father is not a matter of lip service or doing things in the LORD's name. It is the Father's will that you believe in Jesus, that is to say, it is to seek to enter the kingdom through faith in Jesus alone. Jesus says in Matt. 7, “13Go through the narrow gate. The gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are going that way. 14But the gate is small, and the way is narrow, that leads to life, and only a few are finding it.” You don't get much small and narrow that faith in Jesus alone. Those who have faith in Jesus alone know Jesus and are known by Jesus. They are the ones entering by the narrow gate. Faith in Jesus alone is not always an easy thing. Everything in the world, our reason and our flesh fights against it. Yet, when we are trusting him alone, his works, his righteousness and his promises are we doing the will of the Father. That is not to say, we who trust in Christ Jesus alone for our salvation won't be busy doing things in his name. We simply do not appeal to them on the Last Day. We appeal to Jesus and his promises, his cross and resurrection. Heavenly Father, grant us your Holy Spirit so we may do your will and trust in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation and then be busy loving our neighbor as you have commanded us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article

Proof-Texting Abraham | Galatians 3:6
Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. — Galatians 3:6-9
CALL OUT: Call out to Mike Gole from Broken Arrow, OK, who joined us for leadership training in Florida. Thanks for sharing our devotionals with your men daily.
Paul presents an airtight case for salvation by faith alone by referring to the Jewish icon of faith, Father Abraham. In this section, he will explain to the Galatians how Abraham (like them) was saved only by faith, not by circumcision, and that the covenant made to Abraham was a blessing for all nations, including Gentiles.
Today, this compels me to address the issue of proof-texting head-on.
Proof-texting is a method of interpreting Scripture that selects specific lines of Scripture, or "proof texts," that appear to support a particular belief or doctrine without considering the broader context of the passage. Thus, in Paul's correction, we can see this is precisely what the Judaizers were doing. This approach led Jewish believers to a biased interpretation of Scripture, which ignored some pretty apparent truths about Abraham, faith, and the blessing to all nations, which included the Gentiles. It also resulted in false teaching, a wrong understanding of the gospel, and wounded and confused believers who questioned their salvation.
But note that memorizing, quoting, and referencing individual Scriptures is fine. Just remember that in context, verses like Philippians 4:13, which reads, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me," might have nothing to do with my striving to achieve the next stage of my potential. Instead, it might communicate that I need to learn to be content with my present discontentment and discover God's strength through my suffering.
If you don't believe me, take a glance at the two preceding verses:
"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need." — Philippians 4:11-12.
Hopefully, you see how easy it is to misread the text by proof-texting and thus communicate a Gospel truth that is not a Gospel truth at all. So be cautious of what you believe and how you communicate it, as well as how you communicate what you believe.
#FaithAlone #GalatiansInsights #ContextMatters #SalvationByFaith #AvoidProofTexting
ASK THIS:
How can we ensure that our interpretation of Scripture is rooted in its broader context rather than relying solely on proof-texting?
In what ways can we apply the principle of seeking God's strength amidst our present circumstances, as highlighted in Philippians 4:11-13, to our daily lives?
DO THIS: Read Scripture in context don't proof-text.
PRAY THIS: Father, help me to approach Your Word with humility and discernment, seeking to understand its full context and applying its truths to my life with wisdom and clarity. Grant me the strength to trust in You alone for salvation and to rely on Your power in every circumstance I face. Amen.
PLAY THIS: Your Name Is Holy.

Faith in Christ alone is what saves you and pleases God. A good biblical example is Rahab, Rahab wasn't saved by works nor justified by works, she was saved by faith in God alone and her faith produce the work for God that He was pleased with thus her faith in God justified her, Hebrews 11 gives a full account of how faith in God is accounted for righteousness and justifies them in His sight. James 2:25 Shows Rahab the prostitute believed the stories of God’s saving work for the Hebrews (Josh. 2:8–11). At a personal risk but love she had for her family and care she had for the spies, she hid the Jewish spies from her own people, then lowered them on a rope so they could escape (Josh. 2:15, Joshua 6). Thus she became a model of faith along with the rest in the hall of faith in Hebrews 11. Also real quick, remember how when Jesus healed someone He says YOUR FAITH has healed and saved you? Mark 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Faith in Christ alone through Jesus alone by God's grace alone saves us ( Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-13), and our faith in God will be shown in our works, our faith in Jesus justifies us and His Holy Spirit in us sanctifies us and leads us to walk in Holiness and obedience and faith to God ( Romans 6-12). #God #Jesus #HolySpirit #Godhead #HolyTrinity #Bible #Jesusisthemeaningoflife #Themeaningoflife #JesusisourtrueLordGodandSavior #Jesusiseverything #LiveforJesusonly #Faith #Truth #fyp #JesusisGod #christianity #Christianpost #Godisomnibenevolent #Godisomniscient #Godisomnipotent #Godisomnipotent #Godisgood #Pray #Godistruelove #Truelove #Faithalone #church #standupforGod #Holy #FollowJesus #SoundBiblicalDoctrine https://www.instagram.com/p/CdbrubRrnav/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13
Paul's prayer for the Christians in Rome found in this verse is often used in churches today as a closing benediction. It is a powerful statement about what God can do in the heart and mind of every Christian.
Paul makes this request of the God of hope, another beautiful name for God. He is the only lasting source of hope we have for meaning in this life, and for a life beyond death. Paul asks that the God of hope fill these believers with all joy and peace "in believing" or as they trust in Him. In other words, Paul is not asking God to simply dump joy and peace into their hearts without cause. He is asking that as these believers trust in God, their faith will bring joy and peace to their hearts. In other words, help them to keep believing so that they can experience joy and peace.
Finally, Paul asks that they might have this joy and peace in believing so that they may abound with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul is asking God to give them more than just regular human hopefulness. He is asking for supernatural, Holy Spirit-powered hopefulness.
What a fantastic prayer to ask God for others or for ourselves. What more could we wish for other believers than to be filled with joy and peace and abounding in hope?

Heres the problem: sadly, there are many cults and false religions which teach that you have to work to gain your salvation.
Listen, I dont care who you are or where you are from or what your religious beliefs are, but NOTHING you could ever do will never be sufficient enough to save you. The Bible says that our righteousness are nothing more than filthy rags before God. God's favour cannot be bought by our good deeds, but our good deeds are bloodsoaked, filthy rags tainted by sin before a holy, righteous and perfect God.
The Bible says:
Isaiah 64:6
New King James Version
6 But we are all like an unclean thing,
And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;
We all fade as a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind,
Have taken us away.
And also
Romans 8:8
and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
There is only one thing which is pleasing to God, and that is the perfect sacrifice of His precious son Jesus Christ.
We have all broken the law, and the wages of sin is death
(Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord)
but the blood of Christ paid our debt and redeemed us by dying on the cross to pay our sin debt with His precious sinless blood, He was buried, and 3 days later, Jesus arose from the dead victoriously, conquering sin and death so that by putting our faith and trust in the finished work of Christ and in who He is, by faith alone, in Christ alone, we can be saved.
By faith alone in Christ alone, we can be reconciled to God and stand justified before God through the finished work of Christ.
It is only your faith in what Christ has done for you to save you that is sufficient enough to save you.
Jesus Christ upheld the law perfectly and He fulfilled the law and the prophets of old.
Jesus Christ calls us to repent from our sins and follow Him and put our faith and trust in Him.

From Dilution to Devotion | Galatians 2:15-16
We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. — Galatians 2:15-16
CALL OUT: Call out today to Bret Hoover from Allentown, PA, who is going to be baptized on March 17. A shirt is coming your way!
The following seven verses of this chapter are a highly potent, compressed, and theological language that drives home the whole point of the book. Paul's single point is this: acceptance by God is affected by a simple act of trust in Jesus Christ, not by adding anything else. And you need to remember because it's easy for this to get lost; the problem in Galatia is not a denial of the faith but the dilution of the faith by additions to the faith.
Keeping this in mind, Paul is stating that the only thing that matters is faith in Jesus Christ. A man's heritage and race are not the factor. We are all born sinful, Gentiles and Jews alike. The only birth that mattered was the birth of the sinless man, Jesus, God's Son. His work is our justification. His justifying work on the Cross, proven by his resurrection, fulfilled the works of the Law in a way no man could. Therefore, preaching a Gospel of any addition to the faith is a dilution of the faith. Adding something to the Gospel ends up taking everything from it.
But does this mean we shouldn't do good work? No!
It only means that when I am doing good works, that I am doing them from the overflow of His love, not to earn His love. I must be habitually aware that my salvation has been obtained by Jesus for me and that anything good work that comes from me is an overflow of his work in me. This means only that there is no such thing as self-justification for a believer. The only justifying work that matters is Jesus Christ's, so today, say it with spiritual confidence—"He has justified me!"
#FaithAlone #GraceOverWorks #JustifiedByChrist #GospelTruth #OverflowOfHisLove
ASK THIS:
How does understanding that our justification comes solely through faith in Jesus Christ impact the way we approach good works and service in our daily lives?
Reflecting on your own journey of faith, how has the realization of being justified by Christ's work on the Cross influenced your understanding of self-justification and reliance on His grace?
DO THIS: Say it with spiritual confidence—"He has justified me!"
PRAY THIS: Father, thank you for the gift of faith in Jesus Christ, through which I am justified. Help me to live each day in the overflow of Your love, freely sharing the grace I've received with others. Amen.
PLAY THIS: Justified By Faith Alone.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:13
The preceding verse of our verse today is a very popular verse. This is usually used or wished every time someone who is close to us celebrates their birthday. However, people usually just look at that verse and ignore everything else. Meaning, people only read the promise, and do not read what is after. We have to understand that indeed God has given us a lot of promise and blessings. However, we always claim that we cannot find God, yet we have to understand that He is always there. He never walked away from us, He stayed faithful and He stayed protecting us.
Now, let us understand that the fault is not with God, but it is with us. We cannot find Him because we are not seeking Him, we are not seeking Him with all our hearts. It might be so easy to receive a blessing especially if God promised to prosper us, however, we expect it to be magically given to us. We expect that it will just fall down from the sky. So, that is the wrong part. God is not our personal genie, He is our God and yes, He is a promise keeper. However, we must understand that we should seek Him. How can we find Him tho? We have to know that our verse has given us this answer. If we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him.
Seeking God is not just through learning stuff about Him from our grandparents or parents, seeking God means having a close relationship with Him. It’s establishing that deep relationship with Him through the Word. We will never find God in the quotes we post, or in one or two verses we read online. The only way we will find God is through His Word, and if we seek Him through it with all our hearts. Therefore, we should remember that God did not leave us or walked away from us. If we cannot find Him, then maybe we are not seeking Him. Let us therefore search for Him with all our hearts, and build a personal relationship with Him through reading His Word day and night.
