Honestly One Piece is an extra special series for those that were adopted or those that have a very non-traditional family. Because pretty much every important character in the story was an adopted child (or in Brook's case, an adoptive parent) and so much of One Piece's core themes are all about 1.) Blood ties don't fucking matter. "Blood is stronger than water" mentality is bullshit. And 2.) All it takes is ONE adult that gives a fuck to change a child's life forever.
You don't even have to know eachother for very long, even a small moment in the span of a lifetime can profoundly impact a child's whole life. There's a reason why Bellmere and Corazon both said "I love you" and why Ace said "Thank you for loving me" as their final parting lines, because they knew that if the people they were leaving behind had to hear ONE last thing--they wanted them to hear that they were loved. And in Luffy's case with Ace, that his--and Whitebeard's love, too, changed him. They were changed by the power of being fully and wholeheartedly loved by somebody that had no obligation to love them, but did anyway, in a cruel and uncaring world.
The whole series is about adopted family and found family and it even has reflective family dynamics like what happened with Doflamigo and Big Mom that show what happens when somebody gets adopted by the Wrong People and for bad reasons. And when you neglect a child's trauma and mental illness, how it can fester and put even more pain back into the world.
But I find it really healing to see so many good parents in One Piece and how pretty much None of them are related or bound by an obligation of blood to the child but they loved them with a passion that changed that child's whole world and shaped them at the core to be who they are.
Like, shout out to these guys fr

Y'know even in spite of how good IDW and earthspark megatron are I think tfp megatron is my favorite just for the melodrama and untapped comedic value. This bitch is so emotionally repressed and comically power hungry it circles all the way back to being thematically compelling. He comes back after a several year radio silence with armfuls of Robot Space Crack and immediately assumes power again like nothing ever happened. He throws vehicons off the wings of his ship. He has beef with a 14 year old girl. He abused the power of the anti-god that turns people into mindless drones and was surprised when said god tried to make him a mindless drone. His own ship came alive and tried to stage a mutiny. Optimus prime did a burnout on his face that one time. If someone made him express a genuine emotion besides rage he would spontaneously combust. I fucking love him

Love how Ezra refuses to accept his lightsaber back from Sabine. Not only to assure her that he's strong enough to go into a fight without it, but also to make 'your lightsaber is your life' even more heart-wrenching since it basically means that he gave his life to her permanently and that his feelings for her will never change. Like, the hidden weight of this comedic moment??? Unbearable.

the fact that every time winteam have had sex it hasn’t been in either of their rooms, first the hotel, then the locker room, now a public restroom, but they fall asleep together in win’s bed every night, it speaks volumes to how they aren’t ready to blur those lines yet. for them sex isn’t the most intimate part of their relationship, the most intimate part is falling asleep cuddled together in win’s room, it’s team’s safe haven, but they aren’t ready to fully express how they feel about one another.
i think win was almost ready, at least getting close to accepting things, and then team almost drowned and it shook him, he is now hit with this realisation that he loves team and if anything ever happens to him he wouldn’t know how to go on, but it also just confirmed all of his fears about losing someone he loves because he came so close to losing team, so while he now is more open and accepting of what he feels for team, it’s pushed him backwards from admitting that out loud. and herein lies the problem, team relies on win to lead, we’ve only ever seen him initiate two kisses, one a chaste thank you, the other after he almost drowns and win is near hysterical in front of him, everything else has been win leading, opening doors and allowing team to either follow of close them. team won’t admit his feelings until win does, he only admitted to caring and feeling protective of win after win pushed for those answers, and now win is taking a slight step back and telling waan that whatever happens next is up to team, which sure it always has been because while win leads he only leads as far as he thinks team will go, every last decision has ultimately been up to team after win gives options, now it seems like win needs teams confession before he can confess, but team doesn’t realise confessing is even on the table, he doesn’t know how deeply win feels and it’s holding team back.
all of this was to say that when win and team finally can accept and confess their feelings for each other, we will see more physical intimacy, aside from sleepy cuddles and chaste thank you kisses, in wins room. when they confess and accept the other feels the same, they’ll be able to bring parts of their relationship into their safe haven that before didn’t seem right to, the first time they have sex after confessing will be them making love, it’ll be different from all the other times they’ve had sex, it won’t be a one night stand neither thinks is going anywhere, it won’t be a quick fuck in the locker room or the public bathroom, it’ll be them finally matching up their sexual and emotional intimacy.
