Based on this research, I was able to experiment by ruching some cut up fabrics to imitate flower petals. I ended up making a few different variations of this type of sample.

Textile Development

Using the technique of placing buttons and rubber bands onto calico, wetting it then letting in dry, then painting puff binding and water colour on top of the circles formed, I was able to resemble what an almost birds eye view of this secondary image of this peculiar fungi would look like. I believe this is a successful recreation of the texture, shape and colour of the mushrooms of the photo. I think that this fabric generated, would look interesting as a base fabric for a design and on a garment.
