Which led them to believe even their fundamental needs were too much to ask for.Therefore it was humiliating & selfish to acknowledge their own needs. It became forbidden for the kids to acknowledge those needs so they repressed it as much as possible. Not being able to express their needs directly they learned indirect methods to fulfill their needs, they came to believe that they must give in order to receive, love & support is not given for free & it needs to be earned. The E2 kid might earn their place in the family system by doing chores,taking care of their parents & siblings etc. Even as a kid they had the role of the caregiver, nurturer, helper.The kids believed by playing such roles & sacrificing themselves they could earn the love they needed from their family. As an adult their level of desperateness & willingness to do anything to be validated & loved by others will depend on the level of dysfunctionality in their childhood environment.

anyone else here aromantic and extroverted?

I see a lot of posts talking about how happy aros are by themselves with nothing but their plants and iguanas and sweaters and stuff. How their ideal life is them living alone and not having to talk to people, etc.

That’s cool and all, but I never see anyone talk about the dreams of people who are aro and extroverted.

Like hanging out with platonic partners and close friends on the daily, going out to explore cities with your bestie, being the single life-of-the-party at your friends’ weddings, etc. Even living with friends, that sounds cool too.

and what about the somewhat paradoxical struggle of being aro and extroverted? There are so many fun events and adventures that cater to families with kids and romantic couples. It can be hard constantly feeling like the third or fifth wheel when you want to spend time with your coupled friends. And there’s always that lingering fear that one day, your friends will decide they only want to spend time with their SO and you’ll be forgotten. sometimes I wish I was a little more introverted. Maybe being aro would be easier that way.

Happy Hifuumo Friday everyone!

I haven't slept in over 24 hours, it was infusion day, AND I made myself socialize and have a good time...

And I succeeded!!! I think maybe I'm more extroverted than I thought I was, and was just too shy to act on it before?

Whichever one it is, I still had a great time keeping myself awake so I can make it to my appointment. Though I didn't get around to scheduling my next one yet.

I'm hoping I can get it some time before my vacation in November.

If I cannot though, then I will figure out what I have to do to get my treatment during said vacation.

Speaking of, there will almost certainly be a hiatus of your regularly scheduled Hifuumo Friday posting starting from November 28th and lasting to December 12th.

It's entirely possible I'll have enough free time that I change my mind or that I post mini=pictures throughout those two weeks instead, but what will most likely happen is the latter and doing one BIG Hifuumo Friday post after I am back from that vacation.

But that is still further away into the future, so instead I will talk more about this current trip.

And namely, how I made friends today!

I decided to go back to that bar I had visited some time ago after my treatment was done.

This time instead of hiding away in the booths, I decided to be bold and sit at the bar and talk to the bartenders.

And it went REALLY well. I made two new friends from that alone! Both thought my name was cool, and one of them was extremely Median American Votercore.

The other sort of traumadumped on me in the bathroom but that's okay because I explicitly gave her permission to do so after I had told her her shoes were untied and that I thought her dress looked very nice.

I also helped her get the day off work by backing her up on having food poisoning. That was pretty cool. I made two people's days better directly.

Two strangers also asked to see the picture I took of the above bike, and that was also fun. People think my pics are cool!

It's a nice feeling that gives me the warm fuzzies when I'm tired. I'm very glad I decided to be brave and insert myself into social situations.

autistic extrovert behaviour is going outside with the intention of Behaving Normally and somehow accidentally end up subjecting a brand new acquaintance to an infodump about a subject you love that they expressed a mild interest in and then suddenly realizing halfway through that they're probably overwhelmed by this and so you have to suddenly backtrack and do the whole "oh i'm so sorry i just really like this subject a lot [insert irl keysmashing] i swear i am a Normal Person who engages with things Normally :) can we be besties now? do you want my number? did i do good at conversation? i tried my best :))" and then 30 minutes later you overanalyze the whole interaction and come to the mortifying conclusion that the person on the receiving end of your bullshit was absolutely trying to disengage and absolutely thinks you're supremely weird now
