The Stars and Stripes with a Mountain Backdrop (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens
Via Flickr:
While walking around the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake with a view looking across those waters to the southwest and mountains of the Northern Lewis Range and Continental Divide. This is located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. One can see the light dusting of snow that had happened the night prior from a recent front that came through. With the clouds hanging over the mountains, there was a mood that seemed to draw me into the setting and image captured. My thought on composing this image was to align myself to center the flagpole with the American flag and then have a backdrop of the mountains behind it. Given I was doing post-processing work with this image a few days before Veterans Day, I felt that day would add to the memories of my time and service as an Army officer.

New Ever Given lore drop:
https://gcaptain.com/ever-given-report-highlights-suez-canal-pilots-role-in-grounding/
My favorite quote is "The non-use of tugboats in a restricted area to better control the maneuverability of the ship, contributed to the occurrence of the grounding."
Although I also quite enjoy that one of their recommendations (to prevent future incidents) is "Pay attention to turns"

Not content with their ship blocking the Suez Canal, now Evergreen has shipping containers blocking my morning commute.

evergreen ship stuck as of March/April 2022
the Ever Forward, pictured, has been stuck in Chesapeake bay for three (3) weeks as of April 5th, 2022
unlike the Ever Given in the Suez Canal, the Ever Forward is not blocking the local shipping channel. it is, however, very stuck.
Salvage experts determined they wouldn’t be able to overcome the ground force of the more than 1,000ft (305-meter) vessel, loaded with nearly 5,000 containers
it's also the largest ship ever to get stuck in Chesapeake bay

Mountain Time (Jasper National Park) by Mark Stevens
Via Flickr:
A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views across the water of Maligne Lake to more distant peaks and ridges with Mount Unwin and Mount Charlton of the Queen Elizabeth Ranges. This is located in Jasper National Park while walking along the shoreline with Maligne Lake. With this image, I decided to have a more leveled-on view with a balance between the lake waters with the forest, mountains and skies above.
