Summary: Lily Evans has noticed something odd. Her fifth year was nothing new. She still hated James Potter's friends just as much as she hated James Potter, but she had a new problem... Sirius Black seems to be falling for the wrong girl without anybody noticing. What does a villain like Black have to offer a girl like Laine Crowley, and why does Lily care so much?
Word count: 1.3k words
Warnings: Some light ruckus (of the teenage kind), Lily being a bit of a pick-me-girl(sorry!)

Eventual Sirius x Oc and Lily x James, Laine can be x reader if you like, Laine is also an Animagus (common English Starling)
-------------------------------------------------------
Pt 1
In the opinion of Lily Evans, James Potter was a pig and Sirius Black was a deplorable villain.
The only two males of the most desirable gang of reprobates in Hogwarts she was remotely okay with were Remus Lupin - a quiet, if not lovely young man, and Peter Pettigrew, yet another fly caught in Potters horrid influence. Yet the fifth member of these horrible pranksters, completely confused her.
Sure, Laine Crowley had gotten on the Hogwarts express with the same timid look as Lily had in first year. Sure Laine Crowley was almost always top of her class like Lily was. Sure, the two girls were not in the least friends, but for heavens sake, why on earth was she bosom buddies with the likes of Potters crew?
Laine had been thick as thieves with those boys ever since their first Hallowe'en at Hogwarts and Lily had never known why.
Now she sat in a particularly rowdy Transfigurations class in her fifth year, watching the rambunctious girl impress the entire class with her skill and charm, quite literally Lily thought, as Crowley took the small rat- turned pin cushion - into the air with an alarming speed. Her spell barely uttered, as she shoved it across the room with a simple flick of the wrist at a vile Slyrherin girl who had almost decapitated her rat in one foul swoop. The class erupted in outrage on one side and applause on the other.
Lily grimaced as the boys patted her on the back and made jovial excuses as McGonagall bore her full wrath down on the girl. It was here that Lily noticed the first of many inconsistencies. This girl, usually so competent, confidant and a prime example of Grifindoor pride was squirming under Sirius Black's warm gaze. Lily sat up straighter in her chair, peering over the shoulders of cackling Grifindoors.
The indestructible Laine Crowley was as red as a beetroot and nobody was noticing! Lily's mouth fell agape at the scene before her. The handsome, if not scruffy Black had a tender hand on Laine's shoulder, with an award-winning smile plastered on his face from ear to ear. Crowley shoved him off her, her usual bravado spilling out in waves as she was hauled from between Potter and Black by McGonagall, she said something with a cheeky wink up at their fuming professor and then she was gone. The boys in utter hysterics, including Remus, who was hunched over his 'Transformation Ages, a History' textbook, cackling. Lily groaned. She happened to set her sights on Sirius again after her dramatic eye roll. He was staring at the classroom door, rather uncharacteristically. This struck look on his face. He may as well have had big hearts taped over his eyes.
Lily was appalled. She was disgusted. She was infinitely curious. She decided then and there that she needed to get closer to the situation if she really wanted to discern the true nature of this strange development.
As she was mulling over her options, she caught James' eye. He smiled brilliantly up at her. She shoved her nose right back into her textbook, just as McGonagall re-entered her classroom. Lily was very glad that her textbook was rather staunch in stature and blocked her view, else as McGonagall took another 15 points from Grifindoor while James was crooning up at the redhead, he would've seen the hot blush in her cheeks and the nervous tremor on her lips.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
It was in the following days that Lily found she was running into Laine more and more. She eventually discovered that she was purposely running into the girl without knowing it. Lily ran a frustrated hand through her fringe. Watching from afar as this group she seemed to have a habit of stalking was taking break in a very populated court yard.
She sat with Marleen and Dorcas, who were in a heated debate about something Charms related. She wasn't listening though. She was watching Sirius and James sword fight with two ends of discarded broomsticks -stolen, clearly. Sirius turned to Laine after his triumphant victory, saying something that made her giggle in a flustered 2nd year sort-of-way. Then she watched him say something that made her throw her shoe at him.
Lily had noticed that they were dumb when it came to each other. Sirius flirted with every girl he saw, Laine ignored him. Laine flirted with Sirius, he ignored her. Laine, never mind flirting, if the girl even spoke to another bloke, Lily watched Sirius explode with what she supposed was some heinous.
They fought like cat and dog, they bickered at every turn and yet- Lily sat with her brows furrowed and her chin in her palm- they were looking at each other like lovestruck puppies. Lily noted that that was sort of the pattern with these two.
She didn't really understand why, but it irked her. Some deep chord within her twinged every time she looked at this popular pair. She looked over at Potter. She smiled. Wouldn't it be nice if he was like that? Lily statled. Like what? She shook her head violently. Standing up so fast that Marleen almost had a heart attack. She strode away without answering her worried friends pestering.
She reached her destination faster than she expected. No. She thought. Not Potter. And she would prove it. "Laine."
"Nah Pads, you're much more like, what his name again?- Ah! Alfarro the untimely- ah, Evans?" The girls laugh died, her smile dropped. Her brow quirked up in a surprisingly cute, rare vulnerability. "Uhm, what cann'I do fer ya?"
James jumped out of his skin before he jumped up from his precarious position in Crowleys lap. The witch grumbled at the obviously painful jerk of motion. Lily noted in the ensuing chaos Sirius' rush to his knees to fluster over her, glaring - again uncharacteristically- at his best mate. She shooed him away before James managed to conjour up something to say to the perturbed redhead.
"Lily! My darling flower. What can i do for you on this lovely morning hmm?" He swept his hair out of his face, maybe to help his brain work better, maybe to look attractive. Lily had to admit that he had done neither. He smiled dashingly at her. She glanced down to her real target.
"Laine. Sorry to bug you. Can I speak to you for a minute?" She gave the girl a sweetly apologetic look. Laine now looked even more confused. Pausing in her background assault on her very obvious crush.
"Well I don't know Evans... I've uh, gotta study before classes start..." James turned his head to look round at her. Lily couldn't see the look on his face, but Laine turned as white as a sheet as she stared at him. Lily imagined James must look absolutely terrifying behind his mop of hair.
Lily marched over, hauled Laine up by the arm only to glance at Black on her way up. She nodded her head at him.
"Red." He managed with a skeptical brow. She turned back to the task at hand. At Laines severe protest she turned to the girl again.
"Only take a moment." She hummed. Laine went silent and dully trodded along with her kidnapper until they reached a secluded corridor. Lily spun around alarmingly, realized she was still clutching onto the girls arm and promptly backed away. She watched Laines arm fall to her side. Just as she was about to speak, incredulity evident on her face, Lily beat her to it. "Have lunch with me this weekend. Three Broomsticks. I think it'll be safer there."
"Safer? What- Lily what on earth are you on about? Just tell me!" Laine was bewildered, but by now she simply growing irritated.
Lily shook her head. "No, no. Listen it's nothing really. Just, if you want, let me tell you over a Buttetbeer. It might interest you." She was being sneaky and she knew it. Sneaky and mean, but she had to know.
"O-okay. Whatever. 12.00 sharp?" Gotcha. Lily nodded. Laine turned away and headed back to the courtyard. She looked over her shoulder at Lily, who had also promptly turned and was headed towards her next class. Laine sighed.
What the hell was Prongs going to do when she got back?

for @monicafave who asked me about my opinions on Lucius Malfoy.
TW: very brief mention of sexual assault (DE crimes).
Honestly, one of the (few) improvements the movies made on the books. Jason Isaacs is hot. And has so much charisma when playing the villain I cannot see anyone else doing the character justice in the remake. Also, Lucius doesn't have long hair in the books, but it's the only way I imagine him (my headcanon is that Draco grew his hair out eventually too). Also, the choice to make him unshaven in the last movies? Gold. 10/10.
He wore his hair a little shorter in the First War, but still long enough it could be tied back with a ribbon.
Is a victim to one of the worst takes in the entirety of the Harry Potter fandom of all time, which is of course abused!Draco. It angers me more than abused!Black Sisters, or abused!Remus... grrrr, it makes me so mad. If there is one (1) character in the entirety of the Harry Potter fandom, only ONE that we can be sure wasn't abused by his parents, that was Draco. Where - where? - do people get the absurd idea that Lucius was a cruel father and husband, who routinely cheated on his wife and beat her and their son?
(Also, imagine beating/cursing Narcissa Black, who was not only vicious herself, but also the beloved only sister of Bellatrix Black Lestrange. Like. Who would do that? Madmen wouldn't do that.)
Abusive Lucius for the sake of being cruel makes me laugh. It makes me giggle. The man wouldn't be able to correctly use a Stinging Jinx, never mind the fucking Cruciatus Curse, on either of them if Lord Voldemort was pointing his wand directly between his eyes. Although-
Yes, he is a coward. Which, by the way, there is a big difference between being unable to actively hurt your family members and passively standing by when they are threatened/tortured. The big, realistic failure of Lucius, the one that would sour his image in both Draco & Narcissa's minds by the end of DH, is not that he hurts them directly, it's that he says nothing, does nothing, when his son is branded by the Dark Lord and sent on a suicide mission, is that he says nothing, does nothing, when his wife and son are openly mocked by the Death Eaters, who do as they please in his own home. If Voldemort threatened to torture either of them, Lucius would probably fall to his knees, beg for mercy, but he would not, could not bring himself to stand up and dive in front of the curse. He would watch, horrified, as they are tortured- that is what spoils their view of him in the end.
As the author herself has said, the Malfoys' saving grace is that they love each other.
His fault is cowardice, not cruelty (to family at least) and that's the hill I'll die on.
Lucius, as a character, represents the banality of evil. Indifference. Cowardice. Casual cruelty. Upholding of unjust systems. Not sadism. If you don't understand the difference, you're a bad writer.
Moving on.
He was highly competent in the First War. And by competent I mean competent. There is no way this guy was Voldemort's... second in command (?) or at least one of his top-ranking Death Eaters if he acted anything like he did post-Voldemort's rebirth.
I don't know whether to cry or laugh at his character, actually. He's so petty (he tries to ban The Fountain of Magical Fortune from the Hogwarts Library because it depicts the relationship between a witch and a Muggle, which he deems obscene, and when Dumbledore replies “Nu-uh, suck it, I know about all the Half-bloods in your family tree you hide”, the response prompted several further letters from Lucius, consisting of "opprobrious remarks" on Dumbledore's sanity, parentage, and hygiene).
He's a simp for his wife, whom he loves more than anything in the world (except maybe for Draco). He tries to send Draco to Durmstrang, where Karkaroff is headmaster and no Muggleborns are allowed, and Narcissa says “No, I want my son close to home” and that's the end of that. He puts up with having Bellatrix in his house (she really doesn't like him), and the two of them don't kill each other merely for Cissa's sake.
In my headcanons, they didn't hate each other in the First War. They weren't best friends by any means but they respected each other well enough and had a somewhat cordial if a bit prickly relationship (although, I love fics that get their bickering right). But then Halloween 1981 happens. I have a lot of headcanons for that night and I don't think I've ever really detailed them, so I will now.
They have an early dinner all together - Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix, Rodolphus and Rabastan - and then the Lestranges leave. After the clock strikes ten, they feel a searing pain in their forearms. The Mark is gone. There are a few minutes of what the fuck do we do now and two very distinct ideas pop up. Bellatrix would rather die than forsake Voldemort, she's willing to battle every soul in Britain if it means finding him. He is not dead, he is not. He is immortal. They have him, they've captured him with some weird trick and are holding him hostage. Lucius, on the other hand, takes a good, hard look at his left forearm and decides well, this fucking sucks but at least we had a good run. He is not about to risk his family name by picking duels with the Aurors. The second after he's waltzing in the Ministry, telling everyone who'll listen that he's just woken up from the Imperius Curse, and blackmailing/bribing/threatening his way out of Azkaban. You must do the same!, Lucius and Narcissa tell Bellatrix. Traitors, backstabbers, vermin, is the reply. She is truly, seriously, hurt and furious that they would denounce the Dark Lord. To her, it's the most horrid of betrayals.
This is when she loses her second sister. It's the moment Narcissa makes it clear that not only she will denounce Voldemort with every breath, but she will stop Lucius from going after a dead master. We have a son, Bella, he is our priority. We have a son, and you do not. You don't know what it means. It's a nice little parallel to the end of Deathly Hallows - I cannot stress this enough: Narcissa's lie to save her son causes her sister's death. Narcissa indirectly kills her. Bellatrix and Narcissa's relationship is never the same after that.
On a lighter note. It's canon that Lucius has little hobbies: peacocks and collecting Dark artefacts!
Also, he has a sick interior designer because the secret chamber beneath their living room is a marvellous idea, I need one of those.
A bit of a germophobe.
Cruel, but again: casual cruelty. Yes, he enjoys tormenting Muggles because they are less than human to him; no, he does not enjoy watching little Mudblood children get bitten by Greyback or Muggle women being raped (and no, before you ask, he would never lower himself to something like that, even if Narcissa wasn't in the picture).
Inspired by the movies, of course, but he has great fashion sense.
He was nice looking, definitely not incredibly handsome (unlike my boy Rodolphus who is hot) but he was very charismatic, so much so that Narcissa Black fell desperately for him, much to Andromeda's dismay and Bellatrix's perplexity.
Elaborate courting ritual (peacock-like, get it? ah ah).
The second most extravagant wedding of the century (Bella & Rod take the cake on that, you have no idea).
I am fascinated by his relationship with Voldemort. By the end of the second war, the two pretty much despise each other (and if Cursed Child is to be believed - which I don't - Lucius had a Time Turner tucked away and never once tried to use it to bring Vold back). But what about during the first war? Lucius' loyalties were always to the Cause more than to the man, and yet he is given the Diary. First War Lucius must have been fascinated by Voldemort - we see a hint of this in GoF when he asks Voldemort to tell them how he managed to survive the Killing Curse.
I think Voldemort saw this fascination and somehow, in his usual arrogance, misunderstood it. You see, the way I think of (and write) the Death Eaters is very Succession-y: everyone wants to be Voldemort's favourite, the one to sit to his right, the closest to him. During the First War, Lucius would have sold his mother to be closest to Voldemort. His entire worldview shifts when Draco is born, and as Lucius grows to love him. The same went for everyone else, including Snape. This is why, to me, Voldemort doesn't see their betrayals years later: he is used to thinking that they would do anything, sacrifice anyone, for him. He doesn't see that the love they feel for others is stronger than whatever fucked-up bond is there.
And, if you think about it, the two Death Eaters that are truly, fanatically, loyal above everything else are the two that are in love with/love him. Bellatrix and Barty.
Stopping now because my head is falling on my keyboard from sleepiness. Hope you enjoyed! I probably have more somewhere.

Dukeceit Headcannons 💚💛
I wanted to participate in Dukeceit Week 2024 somehow, so since I don’t have time to draw anything I thought I’d write some headcannons based off of the 7 prompts for the ship week.
@dukeceit-week-2024 @imnotgrimimjustagrumpyreaper
The prompts were the following:
April 6th- Sunflowers/Ocean
April 7th- Road trip/Roadkill
April 8th- Cats/Rats
April 9th- Teeth/Hair
April 10th- Cowboys/bootleggers
April 11th- Bodyswap/Sharing clothes
April 12th- Coffee shop/Dive bar
April 13th- Antiquing/Free day
Content warnings: mention of roadkill (dead animals), mention of having funerals for said roadkill, mention of hair clips that look like teeth, brief mention of battles, mention of a dive bar and drinking alcohol. Let me know if I missed anything else.
Click below the cut the read the headcannons.
——————————————————————
- For their first date, Remus and Janus decided to go out for dinner by the beach in the imagination. Remus wanted to give Janus some flowers, so he picked a bouquet a sunflowers. Of course, Remus ended up picking sunflowers were dead because they were from his side of the imagination. The creative side was a bit worried that his date wouldn’t like the flowers since they were dead, but Janus smiled when Remus gave him the flowers and said the bouquet was lovely. The couple then had their dinner, and afterwards walked on the beach. Remus convinced Janus to take off his shoes and stand in the shallow part of the ocean with him. Remus playfully kicked some water at Janus and the two end up chasing each other around and splashing each other. Overall, it was a good first date.
- Remus and Janus like to take road trips through Roman’s side of the imagination once a month. The two drive around in a car and occasionally stop to cause chaos. On their trips they’ll sometimes stumble across some roadkill. In these situations, Remus will have Janus pause their journey for a moment in order to have funerals for the roadkill.
- For Halloween, Janus and Remus always wear matching/couple’s costumes. Their first Halloween together, they dressed as a rat and a cat. Remus was the rat because like rats, he likes to dig through garbage. Janus was the cat because like a cat, he sometimes makes a purring noise when Remus cuddles him, because Remus feels very warm and the cold-blooded deceitful side finds the body heat very calming. Janus was embarrassed when he purred for the first time, but Remus just smiled and said he found the sound adorable.
- Remus’s hair would often get in his face since it’s somewhat long. He found having hair blocking his eyes to be annoying, but couldn’t find any clips or hair styles he liked to fix it. Janus noticed Remus’s hair style struggles, so he asked Roman to help him design hair clips for Remus. Once the design was planned out and made, the deceitful side gave Remus hair clips that looked like teeth. Remus loved the clips and would wear them often.
- For the second Halloween Janus and Remus celebrated together, they dressed up as Woody and Bo Peep from Toy Story. Remus wanted to reuse the cowboy costume and Janus already has a shepard’s crook, so the costume choice was easy.
- Remus likes to borrow Janus’ hat and capelet. The dark creativity says it makes him feel more powerful and like a fairytale villain when he battles with Roman.
- Remus made a dive bar in his side of the imagination for him and Janus to go to. The two frequently go there to drink and slowdance. Janus uses these outings as an excuse to wear the fancy dresses he owns.
- There is an antique shop in the Light Side of the imagination. Janus likes to go over there occasionally to look for decorations for his room. He’s found a few nice paintings of snakes when shopping there. After they started dating and it got closer to Remus’ birthday, Janus wanted to find an antique item to give as a birthday present. The deceitful side did a lot of searching and eventually found an old, wind-up rat toy. It would be the perfect gift for Remus. So, Janus got the wind-up rat and gave it to Remus on the creative side’s birthday. Remus loved it and proceeded to send the rat toy running around the light side of the mindscape. The creative side hoped the rat toy would scare the light sides. Janus just watched his boyfriend’s antics with a smile on his face.

Hey love.
So i was just tagging a post about morally grey characters and letting them do whatever they want, and it got me thinking that Siri is for sure in that catagory. I mean yeah hes a 🦁 but he was raised by 🐍's. And yes he's charming, loving, caring; a real Patrick Swayze character but i think, because of the way he grew up, he'd be more than willing to go to extremes to protect the family he built.
For example, if someone was becoming a problem (like Snape) he'd always be suggesting ways to 💀 them (i think? in his own way, that was what 'the prank' was). Or if someone was inapropriate to one of the girls, that person would simply disapear. Siri is in 🦁 for his courage and bravery but they're all traits he's developed from the way he was raised, not because he's inherently the hero. Siri is couragous because he's already faced what most wizards are scared of; he's brave because weakness was exploited.
Anyway, i spiraled on this for a little. I love the way you write Siri in GC and wanted to know your thoughts on it 🩷🩷
Oh, I 100% agree with this one. Being a Gryffindor does not exclude you at all from being morally grey. In fact, I think the traits of a Gryffindor are easily juxtaposed with a well-written morally grey character.
While I don't think he'd go into the extremes of 💀 someone for insulting a friend, I do believe he would retaliate in some way, be it a prank or a straight punch in the face.
And being morally grey will never exclude you from becoming a hero. Of course, their story won't be as clean-cut as Captain America's or Superman's who have very strong moral compasses, but it is the depth these stories have that makes the characters even more charming.
Think of names like Loki, Bucky Barnes, Moon Knight or even Din Djarin (The Mandalorian): these characters all started with questionable attitudes, and they were all extremely morally grey if not downright villainous, and even then, with their background and with the world giving them everything to become a villain they didn't (some of them did for a while). They fought against that, and eventually, in their own way, ended up doing good. Not because they were inherently good like Cap or Suppy, but rather because they chose to be like that. And, frankly, I believe that makes them even more compelling.
Sirius is no exception, he was about ready to unalive Peter back in the shack and it was because of Harry (whose moral compass I believe developed from how he was mistreated by the Dursleys and hanging out with Ron and Hermione) who stopped both him and Remus and convinced them they had to take Peter to justice that he didn't yield to those dark desires. A choice that, even though was morally correct, ended up costing Cedric's life, and the comeback of Voldemort.
I mean, there is a reason why he punched Evan with no restriction (GC canon) and did The Prank on Severus (HP canon). Sirius is impulsive and reckless, which goes fairly well with other Gryffindor traits. Even Harry is a bit reckless at times.
I also don't think Sirius is the only one. Remus, while having a stronger moral Compass, also kind of fits into this category, at least when he starts doubting himself and his belonging in the Wizarding World. I mean: Why fight for a world that does not accept you?
And yet he did, he fought for them over and over again, because he believed in change, he had it all to become a villain like Greyback and chose not to do it, and that speaks a whole lot for his moral character, perhaps making him braver than characters who had a clear-cut moral compass since the beginning.
Can you tell I like these dark-leaning characters by now? I feel like it's pretty obvious at this point.
I LOVE writing Siri, I think he's an incredible character and getting to explore his thought processes and emotions in GC has been a delight. It truly fills me with joy that you're enjoying reading him as much as I'm enjoying writing him ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡

Part two to that supervillain roman au, context for this comic strip sketch under the cut:
So. For one, both quotes spoken arent mine they are raw lines sourced from a list of tumblr shitposts.
Somehow its come into my mind that the way that Roman came to be a supervillain was because of a dare/promise to his twin brother when they were kids when one of them had just been discovered as having super powers(they both had powers, but they’d both been raised trying to hide it and live a normal-ish life before getting dragged into what we’ll dub “super youth school” or whatever for the forseeable future, bc they knew that that was easily a life sentence to hero work whether they wanted it or not.) Remus got found-out first bc his powers control fluctuates with how much control remus has over his own head at that moment. Roman was dragged along with even if he hadnt been found out as twins were known to share the super power trait more commonly than if only one did, regardless of when/if their powers actually manifested at the same time.
So at like 13 they’re dragged to this super school thats def more like a training camp but a *littol more* ethical than u would think it was. Its not a super horrible place, honestly. But Roman’s still trying to hide his powers. This is made easier by the fact that he and Remus do not have identical powers but instead entirely seperate/opposite foils in a way? Remus has more access to offensive power-sets while roman is more defensive.
Well.
One day a super nasty Actual Supervillain plans and executes a sudden and devastating attack on the school, first aiming to collapse the building and then taking out any stragglers inside, because, yknow. These kids could be the future heros of his undoing(oh how right and yet so*wrong* that turns out to be) and taking a chunk of this generation out now atleast delays the eventual inevitable.
Its in this event that Roman is with a fellow classmate Remy, and Remus is in a dif part of the building, with classmates Janus, Patton, and Virgil. Remy wasnt gifted with super strength, but Roman had quick enough reflexes to summon a hard-light type shield from the collapse. Only he and Remy and maybe one other student out of their entire classroom makes it past the initial collapse, and while Remus has a quick regeneration factor, that doesnt mean he has invincibility so much as super strength in the sense that he wouldnt withstand the inital collapse but it probs would kill him.(lucky for remus, Virgil is a prodigy at teleportation and manages to get the four of them out safely and *far* away from the chaos. ….at the same time, this group roughly around ages 16-18 realizes this is their only real chance to run and escape this place for good and have a second chance at living low-profile normal-ish lives for a while, and thus make a *run for it*)
Roman and Remy manage to lay low and eventually get rescued by an active superhero, all the while Roman doing his level best to maintain the lightshield to keep the weight of the building from crushing them for *hours*
Essentially, the brothers end up believing that the other is dead from the disaster, the others even legally registered as such for years. And that silly kid promise of ‘if you win, we can become superheros, but if I win, we’re becoming super villains.’ It was just like, another one of their running jokes growing up. At a young age, Remus saw a major appeal in becoming a super villain, and Roman saw a major appeal in becoming a superhero, and as twins sometimes do, their young-adult counterparts came to the exact same conclusion(again, at different times but still the same decision in the end) after the collapse: “I’ll be the best super [hero/villain] i can be, for you, because *you* never got to.”
And Remus? His first order of business? Making his first superhero debut by offing the fucker that killed his brother and all the other helpless innocent lives that hadnt deserved to die.

SOMEONE'S PROBABLY ALREADY DONE THIS BEFORE BUT SANDERS SIDES RIORDANVERSE AU
Virgil - Child of Hades! believes himself to be the villain as a result and takes a while to get used to the negative comments, fully buys into the emo aesthetic and hangs out with Janus and Remus but after Patton incorporates him into the friend group he eventually lets out his softer side a bit <3
Patton - Child of Athena! Because. Spiders. He's also a lot smarter then everyone gives him credit for.
Logan - Child of Athena (sorry logicality shippers). He's smart and precise and fully embodies what he thinks a 'proper' child of Athena should be. He inherited his mother's dark hair and grey eyes and is very proud to say that he is not deadly afraid of spiders, it is only a mild phobia thank you very much! In the beginning he despises Patton because he's everything Logan thinks a child of Athena isn't (brown hair, blue eyes, freckled face, loud, boisterous, naive, makes puns), but after The Incident™ has since started to appreciate his half brother.
Roman - Child of Apollo!!!! He and Virgil have the <33 Solangelo vibes <33 He's sunshiney, has a huge ego, and is mainly focused on the musical aspects of his lineage; he can play multiple instruments and has the voice of an angel if he does say so himself- he's okay at Archery due to being a child of Apollo but he prefers using a sword during combat. He is absolutely terrible at healing - unless he's singing and accidentally mends a broken bone with a rendition of some Disney song. Despises Virgil at first and, like majority of the other campers, simply calls him 'The son of Hades' and avoids him at all costs, until Patton forces them to spend time together and okay maybe the emo boy is kind of nice. (And cute, but he'll never admit to thinking that) Janus - Child of nemesis, he tries his best to be noticed by everyone since his mom is a minor goddess and so rivals the Hermes cabin for 'People you should not be on the bad side of' at camp. Gets along stunningly with the Aphrodite kids and they help with his make-up. The scarring on his face was a result of a monster attack when he was a kid.
Remus - Unclaimed as far as everyone knows. He knows who his Godly parent is though. He was claimed back when he went to camp Jupiter. His mother was Cloacina, the Roman goddess of the sewers. Despite there being little to no discrimination among cohorts, people were always mocking him behind his back, so he ran away, and eventually found himself in camp half blood. The others assumed he was an unclaimed demigod, and he never corrected them, it was better this way. Until one day he exploded the toilets and people started theorising that he was a child of Poseidon.

Not to start an argument with the anon who commented on Severus's personality but Rowling herself said that Sirius and James were fascinated by Remus because of his humour😅. Exactly as with Sev, Remus after more than twelve years in solitude (dead friends and whatever-Sirius-was a traitor) was no longer the sarcastic boy he had once been.
However, I'd like to remember moments like Remus' reaction to the villain's map and the fact that the man eventually married a girl who I imagine would never have married someone without a sense of humour.
I think sometimes we should read between the lines a little more to see the true characterisation of the characters and not just rely on what is explicitly said.
However, as you said Ch, everything is based on our interpretation of what is written! This is mine :)
Deadpan, sarcastic Remus, my beloved 🥰

I'm a bit in a twist, because I just saw a post about how awful James Potter is (also compared to Severus Snape) and the person who wrote the post is kind of right. And now I don't know what to think.
First of all, I'd like to say that everyone in this fandom has an own opinion and is even required to have one and they really should be able to express their own opinion which means that they can like or dislike whatever character they want. I do not mean to change your opinion, it just occurred to me that the owner of the post that inspired this rant really had a point and I had to get some things of my chest, so please be aware of that. This is just me being confused. Just skip it if you want.
Now, to the rant. Severus Snape did some horrible things like insulting Lily Evans, treating Harry Potter badly (JKR explained why and it might make sense but that's also an arguable point), partly trusting in Voldemort (and in Dumbledore which both is concerning) or being fascinated with the Dark Arts (probably not really a problem if he weren't in Slytherin and if it wasn't in the middle of a war) but the Marauders harassed him and bullied him which is also horrible. And if we accept that Potter bullied Snape and encourage it, doesn't it mean that we have to accept Snape's bullying too? Because I don't think there's a difference. The Marauders harassed Snape, humiliated him and called him Sniffelus. Snape called Lily a mudblood (and I recall it being only a onetime thing? Please correct me if I'm wrong), he was a Slytherin and he supported the Dark Lord (which meant that he had to, at some point, harass other students too, due to peer pressure or free will, it had to happen eventually).
It is also questionable why they would bully him. Did they only bully Snape because he insulted Lily or was there more? Did Snape offend one of them personally or was there any specific reason other than him being a Slytherin and seen as a soon-to-be Death Eater? Was the only reason to bully him that he insulted Lily? Potter was in love with Lily, sure, but Lily could've defended herself, right? And as fellow Gryffindors and his best friends, it shows loyalty that Peter Pettigrew, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black helped Potter but other than Lupin being close friends with Lily, the others hadn't had a close relationship (at least in canon) with her, so other than being loyal to their house and kicking the ass of a Slytherin (I don't really know if just metaphorically or if punching him was really a thing), there was nothing for them in it which is morally debatable.
Maybe they are equal to each other because they don't really differ from each other. I mean, objectively seen. The both of them are bullies, even if Snape's words maybe hurt more than Potter's, it makes them still a bully. And seen as they may be equal, they don't deserve a different treatment, right?
And that's exactly the point where I struggle because years ago when I read Harry Potter, I thought of Snape as a decent character (maybe younger me wanted to be different (main character) because everyone hated Snape) and then I entered the Marauders fandom and realized what Snape did (mainly he is seen as Lily's insulter, I think?). The fact that Potter made his life a living hell with the help of his friends (of whom at least two where unrelated to the actual issue) and displayed also an awful bully slipped my mind. It's just so confusing where you draw the line between good and bad or black and white, you know?
Maybe Potter and Snape are both morally grey characters because they both did good things but also bad things? Realistically, not every villain is born as a villain. There are many factors that influence the behaviour of a person for example how the person is treated in their childhood by parents or friends, how they grow up or by what people they are surrounded which makes every human being a morally grey character because no one can be only bad or only good. What I'm trying to say is that it depends on which part of a person you consult to judge them. There can never be a definite decision on a person because there's rarely someone that counts as only good or only bad because there sure are things in the past that weren't exactly good or specifically bad. Also, everyone sees a person differently because they met a different part of this certain person.
I'm not trying to find an excuse for what Voldemort or Darth Vader or Hitler or Queen Victoria or any other villain/head of state/dictator (fictional or not) did because there definitely is no excuse for any of it. But I'm only trying to explain the Potter-Snape-dynamic a little.
All I'm saying is that we can't praise the Marauders as high as we do and forget that they insulted Snape as well as Snape insulted Lily. Maybe not as hurtful but I think being called a hurtful nickname comes close to being insulted as a mudblood. Both is bullying and there is simply no excuse for a thing like that.
Anyway, I am not saying that Snape is the ultimate villain of the story and that he should go to hell or that the Marauders are all trash and should be convicted guilty for everything they did to Snape. Just remember that not all that glitters is gold. Humans have many facettes and no matter how well you know them, you probably will never see all of them. It's the same with fictional characters. Everyone is a grey zone and can't be all black or all white.
However, I am up for questions or a discussion or answers regarding this topic. Again, you can point out anything that I got wrong because maybe this helps me to resolve the confusion I'm in right now.

A little check in for Intrulogical or Roceit hcs ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ゙
Hmmm lemme think!
Well for Intrulogical, I do have a very real canon theory for them that they may team up and be the bridge between the light sides and the dark. Since the show (the main story at least) seems to be very ‘us vs them’, and since Logan and Remus had an episode together, Logan did say that Remus could eventually have a positive purpose down the road. I see that as Logan taking a first step to understanding him and the dark sides in general. They both have ‘not being listened to’ in common and they both have an uncanny way of always telling the truth. To the point where the others never want to hear it if it’s bad.
Sounds like bonding grounds to me!
As for roceit, I love that they’re both theatre gays. I can see Roman definitely encouraging Janus to audition with him. But for some reason (I don’t know WHY lol) Janus always gets cast as the villain and Roman the hero! Argh! Well Janus has a snit about that bc it’s happened more than once but Roman holds his hand and reassures him that no matter what, even if the play they’re in doesn’t have it written, they are the kind of enemies that always end up as lovers. And winks at him. Which flusters Janus to no end, and usually he’s so cool and smooth but Roman just gets under his scales, that pompous prince! Still, his idea doesn’t sound TOO bad, eh? Mmhmm 😉

The organised crime au sounds interesting???
howdy! this one was an au i had the idea for a while actually, but this just means i have a lot of notes already lol,
this one is focused on Wolfstar & Jegulus but there are other couples involved,
anywho, here you go;
in this au, Sirius is a part of law enforcement, and a detective working on a crime unit specifically about the different gangs/groups around their big city, those specifically being the Wolves, the Vipers, and the Deatheaters,
He meets Remus at a cafe (the one where James works at) pretty casually and they start going out more on dates and stuff, their relationship goes farther and everything is going well on that end,
then, Sirius is going to visit James at the cafe he works at and sees him talking to Regulus, his estranged little brother from years ago, Sirius is shocked and goes up to talk to them, and this starts them off to a rocky recovery of their relationship etc etc,
But, what Sirius doesn't know, is that Regulus is the leader of the crime group The Vipers, and he was talking to James because he was newly recruited as his right-hand after James ran from the Deatheaters, which James was in since he was like, 12-years-old,
and what Sirius also doesn't know, is that Remus is the heir to the leader of the Wolves, and after Greyback (who is also Lyall in this au) dies, Remus takes his place,
basically the whole au idea is Sirius chasing criminals who are just standing right in front of him the entire time,
other small details that ive included:
Marlene works for Remus, and Dorcas works for Regulus, they are a crime couple as the Vipers and Wolves form an alliance after Remus takes charge
Lily and Sirius are partners (in the detective sense)
Rosekiller both work for Regulus, imagine them as like his henchmen in a sense, theyre also just chaotic murderous boys,
Remus uses a cane, and he has one of those like really dramatic villain ones lol (he thinks it makes him more intimidating)
James was basically accidentally killed a guy at 12, and Voldy was like: GASP LETS TAKE HIM and thats how that happened, poor james
Peter works for the police with Sirius too but he's also a part of the Deatheaters, he's a spy for them, but eventually he ends up leaving them for the Vipers as well,
Remus actually kills his dad, his dad isn't that great of guy, and the Wolves barely have any alliances or anything good going for them until Remus takes charge, hes just better than him
However Remus does refuse to make an alliance with the Deatheaters as their ways are things he disapproves of entirely (they are wildly more violent and unorganized and Remus is basically like: 'itd hurt my pride honestly')
same with Regulus (definitely not because of a certain boy who was manipulated by their leader that Reg may have a little bit of a thing for, definitely not)
but yes, this is the idea mostly! i wrote out like maybe a bit over 400 words for this but never returned to it but i still like the idea/concept,
poor Sirius, he really is getting bamboozled,
anyways, thx so much for the ask and thank you for allowing me to spill a can of worms on your head! have a good day!

Waffle Night In The Sanders Household
Summary: You can't exactly get "normal" in the Sanders household. Especially on Waffle Wednesday.
TW: Remus being Remus, swearing, someone eating waffles like a heathen (To put it simply, Virgil eats waffles different- He likes to eat around the waffle indents and then leave the really thin square to eat last), "shots" (you'll see what I mean)
Relationships: Married/Parents Logicality, Kid Sides
Characters: Logan, Patton, Roman, Virgil, Remus, Janus (Janny is gender-fluid in this one!)
~
"Give me back the remote!" Roman tackled Virgil to the floor, trying to wrestle the remote out of his hand.
"Princey, I swear to god get off of me!" Virgil smacked Roman in the face, albeit not very hard, trying to shove the taller boy off of him. "Fucking Christ, jackass!"
"Don't act like you didn't just try to change the movie, you villain!"
Remus offered a handful of popcorn to Janus, who sat next to him on the other end of the couch. "Looks like we're getting a movie on top of another movie!" Remus whispered excitedly to him, "I love sibling drama!"
Janus snickered, opting to take a few pieces of popcorn from his brother.
The red and purple clad brothers continued to fight with each other on the floor, the remote eventually being flung out of Virgil's hand. They paused, staring at the remote and then back at each other.
"Fuck you." Virgil finally pushed Roman off of him, standing up.
Roman scoffed, staying on the floor and rolling onto his back. His hair was frizzy and a mess, and pieces stuck to his face. "Shut up, Jack Smellington!"
Virgil picked up the remote, kicking it over to the boy on the floor. "Remus dared me to do it." He declared, shoving his hands in his pockets. "That's all." He put his headphones back on and walked out.
~
Patton stirred the waffle batter, humming a tune similar to the song playing from his phone speaker.
"Well, I could dance with you honey ,
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out?"
Logan stood beside him, chopping up strawberries in a precise and calculated way. "I heard Remus listening to this song the other day" He observed, sliding the sliced fruit into the bowl, "Did he recommend it to you?"
"I actually recommended it to him!" Patton paused his rhythmic stirring, checking to make sure he didn't miss an important step. "He enjoys ABBA almost as much as I do!" He chuckled quietly, checking the waffle iron before scooping batter into it.
Logan hummed in response, continuing his own task. There was something oddly satisfying about how the knife sliced easily through the strawberries. He certainly was entertained by the little things, wasn't he?
The silence between the husbands was content, neither man having anything else to say.
Virgil entered the kitchen with a huff, shoving his phone into his hoodie pocket. "I have come to steal a strawberry." He said simply, standing directly to Logan's right, "I will not cease my attempts until my need has been fulfilled."
Logan raised an eyebrow, pausing mid slice. "Virgil, there's only a few more minutes left until dinner. I'm sure you can wait another 10 minutes."
"I will spontaneously combust." Virgil looked deadly serious, narrowing his eyes as he watched the cut fruit slide into the bowl.
"Oh, come on Logan!" Patton added, plating a waffle and slowly adding to the large stack of them, "They're healthy!"
Logan gave his husband a look of amusement. "He's holding a bottle of chocolate syrup."
Virgil slowly hid the bottle behind his back, keeping a straight face. "I have no such thing."
Patton laughed at that, taking his eye off the iron to ruffle the emo teen's hair (which didn't look much different after said event, though nobody was really surprised.).
Logan rolled his eyes fondly at their antics, putting down the knife. "Alright, alright. You can have one. They're already washed." He handed his son one of the largest uncut strawberries left and went back to his duty.
Virgil held the strawberry in his palm, before biting a large chunk out of it. "I appreciate it, dads."
"Don't make a mess on the couch, please." Logan handed the teen a napkin as well. "Strawberry juice is a pain to get out of fabric."
Patton winked, putting a finger to his lips. "Shhhh, you're my taste tester!"
"The couch is occupied by a bunch of disney obsessed morons." Virgil plopped himself on a stool, leaning an elbow on the island counter. "I'm observing out here." He sat quietly, nibbling on his strawberry as he watched his parents get back to work. Patton slid a waffle over to Virgil, who looked relatively surprised. ".. it's not dinner time yet, why are you giving me one now?"
"Dear, I hope you're aware I can hear you," Logan said, wiping down his area of the counter, "I'm very disappointed that you didn't ask me."
Virgil snickered, pulling a piece off of his waffle. "Maybe I'm just better."
"Keep this up and I'll take away your Minecraft game cartridge."
Virgil nearly spit out his waffle. "That's basically torture!"
Patton was standing in the corner, practically dying of laughter as he went back to cooking the insane amount of waffles needed for dinner. "Now, now, you two!" he mocked a stern tone, pouring more batter into the iron. "No fighting! That limit was reached three hours ago."
Virgil blew a raspberry at him, before continuing to eat his waffle.
Logan tossed a paper towel into the garbage, going to wash his hands. "I will not rest my case just yet.. although I suppose it can wait."
Patton giggled in a way similar to a girl in highschool who just saw her crush. "We'll talk about it later!" he gave his husband a quick kiss on the cheek before tending back to the breakfast items being cooked. "Say, Virge, how is your waffle?"
By the time Patton had asked the question, the teen had already eaten his waffle, albeit in the strange way he eats them. Nobody questioned it, though. Virgil cleared the thin squares from his plate, putting it beside the stack of plates. "Tasted like a pancake but better. Thanks." He knew Roman would bother him about it later, although he couldn't care any less. "Need any help or something?"
"Could you grab the syrup from the cabinet, kiddo?" Patton plated another waffle before turning to his husband. "L, can you go tell the boys and Jan that dinner's ready?"
"Of course, dear." Logan replied, returning the kiss Patton had given him earlier, "I'll be right back. Virgil, make sure to grab both kinds of syrup." he left directly after the request, not waiting for an answer.
"Ew, PDA." Virgil stood on the tips of his toes to grab the syrup, making sure to grab both kinds. "Imagine being happy."
Patton laughed at that, grabbing a can or two of whipped cream from the fridge. "You'll understand one day!"
"I still have no idea how you and Dad managed to get together."
The father figure sighed fondly. "Things work out the way they work out, Virge."
"Ew, stop, don't all sentimental on me-"
Patton ruffled his son's hair as he walked by. "Awh, why not?" he teased in a mushy tone, "I know you secretly love it!~"
Virgil nearly hissed, although he controlled himself long enough for the urge to subside. He'd had the habit since he was young, although he'd been trying to get out of it for quiet some time. "I would rather die alone," he declared, "Just me and my pet spiders."
Patton shivered a bit at the mentioned of the creatures. "You might change your mind one day!"
Logan popped his head into the kitchen. "The other children have settled," he informed, "although Remus is being quite the troublemaker-" he leaned back into the living room, no longer in their view. "Remus, don't put that into your mouth!"
Virgil heard Remus cackle like the miniature demon he was. How much energy does a 15 year old need to have on a Wednesday night?
He shrugged it off, heading into the dining room and putting the syrup onto the table.
"Virgey!" Remus nearly jumped out of his chair at the sight of his older brother. "Do you know how boring it was without you antagonizing Roman?!"
Virgil rolled his eyes fondly, while Roman groaned in annoyance.
"Please never leave me alone in a room with those two again." Janus ran a hand through his hair, glaring a little at the two twins. "I'm at my bullshittery limit."
"Awh, I love you too!"
Virgil sat down at his spot, with Logan and Patton following close behind. Logan held a bowl of the strawberries he had cut, while Patton handled the giant stack of waffles (which he balanced like a pro, Virgil had to admit).
"Roman, I bet I can eat more waffles than you!" Remus nudged his twin, who scoffed.
"No you can't!" Roman argued, crossing his arms, "I've held the record for three weeks! There's no beating that!"
Virgil smiled a bit at their antics. He was interested in the aftermath, although he wanted to save thinking about it until it happened. It was enjoyable when the two teenagers bickered like 7 year olds He took two waffles for himself once the plate was set down.
"I grew a quarter of an inch, I bet I can do it better than you!"
"Now, now, boys, let's not argue." Logan chided gently, placing strawberries on his own waffles with a careful amount of precision, "You can have a friendly competition, although once it gets too out of hand you're both done. Deal?"
Remus' mouth was agape. Logan almost NEVER said that! "Deal!" he nearly shouted, startling Janus (who almost choked on his water). He took his own waffles and gave Roman a cheeky smile before housing at least three in under four minutes.
"Don't choke!" Patton reminded, layering almost half the bottle of syrup onto his waffles, "That wouldn't be very fun."
"THAT WOULD BE SO FUN!"
Logan eyed his husband's choice of toppings. "You don't have nearly enough strawberries," he supplied, "There's not enough of a balance, dear."
Patton shrugged, taking a bite. "I can make up for it later!" he replied after swallowing, "After all, I am using the healthier syrup."
Logan raised an eyebrow, however didn't say anything else.
Janus ate quietly, although he didn't speak very much to begin with. He and Virgil silently communicated through eye contact and facial expression since they were sitting across from one another.
'You okay over there?'
'Fine.' Janus looked between the twins, who had just recently been banned from sitting next to each other. 'Annoying as usual.'
'Another waffle?'
'Nah.'
Virgil gave him a subtle nod before going back to his own waffles, listening in to the rambling that Remus had started about a minute ago.
"Remy said he's going to rent out a theatre to see the FNAF movie! I wish I had that much money.."
"Get a job, doofus." Virgil pointed out, biting into another strawberry, "You're 15, not 5."
"How?"
"I'll go over it with you after dinner, okay? Finish beating Roman's record."
"Hey!" Roman elbowed Virgil lightly in the side. "Don't encourage him!"
"Too bad, princey!"
~
Janus stood in the kitchen, helping to clean up dinner. Logan stood by the sink, washing the harder dishes to clean by hand, while Patton loaded everything else into the dishwasher. Janus had offered to put everything away, so he shuffled around and placed everything back in its home.
He closed the cabinet, turning around to see Patton pouring syrup into what looked like a shot glass. Patton caught his eye and winked, downing the apparent "syrup shot" in one go. He put a finger to his lips to signal it as a secret.
Janus blinked. Well, now he knew his family really were a bunch of hooligans.
"Honey, what are you doing over there?" Logan turned his head to the side, so he could stare at Patton. "Is something the matter?"
"No, everything is okay!" Patton slid another shot glass full of syrup over to Janus, who picked it up and started sipping it slowly.
Logan noticed this, and gave his husband a knowing look. "You know that's not healthy."
"What's healthy these days?" This time, Patton pulled out a mini syrup bottle and started drinking straight from it. Seriously, what was with this guy and maple syrup?
Logan sighed and went back to doing the dishes.
Janus sat on a stool, licking his now-empty glass of syrup as he observed his dads.
Virgil totally was totally gonna flip out that he missed this.

This is technically one of my first fics on here, so uh, thanks for reading! <3

The Fall of Roman
AU: Canon-ish
CW: Cussing, self-depreciation, minor fight scene
WC: 1631
Date: February 8th 2023
This should have been like any other day; Remus should have woken up, ready to cause chaos and sow the seeds of violence but as he stretched out his neck, something was wrong. He looked down at his usually black outfit, tilting his head to the side as he took in its now grey coloring. The realization hit him all at once as he scrambled out of bed, turning around like a dog chasing its tail as he looked for his emblem. Eventually, he was able to twist the lower half of his body and see that in fact, his emblem had changed. Its usual horror and exuberance were missing, replaced with a muted version, something he expected more from Roman.
"Roman," Remus breathed out, rolling his eyes as he made his way out of his room, waving his hand to change his outfit, but it was spiffy, completely not something he normally would like to wear. "Gross, I'm turning into some prissy hero or something." He said quietly, frowning down at his outfit. Was Roman just in one of his moods or was something else going on here? Remus frowned, making his way to his brother's room. Though his steps were hurried he didn't bother moving about the quick way. It couldn't be that big of a deal with the changes being as subtle as they were, then again, the fact that there were any changes at all was problematic.
"Remus, where are you going this early in the morning?" Janus asked, looking at him from the kitchen, but Remus didn't stop.
"Light side's."
"Try not to cause too much of a mess."
"No promises."
Remus burst into the common area and immediately knew he should have been more concerned. The room was completely shrouded in shadows, an eerie quiet echoing through the space. On any other day, this would please him, he would be overjoyed with the horror movie vibe, but there was a stirring in his soul, a change trying to force itself upon him. He felt the need to be the hero, to fix the problem to save the day. "Stupid fucking brother, making me be all noble or some shit, I'm going to make him regret this." Remus stalked towards his brother's room where the darkness was heaviest, he summoned his morning star, only to find it was a broadsword instead. "Oh for fucks sake." Remus rolled his eyes, making his way into the room anyway, shaving open the door. He wasn't sure where the other light sides were and honestly, he didn't really care, they weren't his problem. Even if he never wanted to play the hero, Remus also didn't think he was the villain. He didn't mind when he was thrust into that role but he had his own uses, his own purposes and his intentions were to make everyone question their normal. His purpose wasn't to destroy his brother. He also wasn't happy making sure his brother was okay, but he could play the good guy for once.
Stepping into what should have been a pleasant field filled with flowers. Remus had left in alone whenever he snuck in, mostly because it reminded him of the grass fields they would draw when they were kids, and didn't have much talent. He would never admit how much he loved that field with its stupid basic flowers, but now it was just ash. The green field was a mix of yellow and black, burned from above by something that breathed fire though there were no fires currently remained. How long had Roman been here destroying the things he had worked to build?
As he continued to walk forward, Remus saw houses destroyed, towers toppled and in the distance a castle that certainly belonged more on his side of the imagination than in Roman's. His brother didn't seem to even enjoy or revel in the idea of being a villain, everything was in disrepair. "You are so dramatic." Despite his words, he could feel the worry running through him as he powered through the decay, each step seeming to change his outfit into something more befitting a prince. No, he wasn't the prince, or the hero in this story, the best he was willing to be was the villain that saved the hero, the one who had always been supportive just from the shadows.
"What are you doing here Remus?" His voice was tired, and Roman was sitting on an obsidian throne, clad in black and red.
"Unfortunately if you are going to play the destitute villain I'm being forced to play the hero, and I'm not about that life."
"No one asked you to play the hero," Roman sounded so defeated, and Remus hated that that sound would ever enter his brother's voice, so he began walking towards his twin, gesturing to his outfit before sitting on the arm rest of his brother's throne.
"Look, we both know that you were always sorted to be the hero and I was sorted to be the villain, and I'm content with that. So, why don't you tell me what has you so wrapped up in your own mind that you've destroyed everything you've built."
For a long time, Roman was silent, almost as if he was trying to stop Remus from being involved, but the more chaotic of the two twins was actually the better at playing the silent game, so he sat and waited until Roman finally broke.
"Remus, get out!" He shouted now, standing from his throne with a sword in his hand. "You have always been happy to play your part, happy to do whatever whims you pleased or fancied, I'm not like that, I didn't have that luxury. I have to fit into a mold!" He swung his sword at his brother but it was lackluster at best.
Remus was able to easily perry his brother's onslaught of attacks, not moving to reciprocate. Roman had so much frustration built up in him and he so rarely allowed himself to let it out. Sure Roman would insult his favorite movies or even people, and sure he would come up with nicknames but none of that was him really letting loose, really telling off everyone who had hurt him, or just screaming out his pains.
"You don't understand the pressure I'm under to constantly be perfect, to constantly live up to impossible standards of originality and cleverness. You can just exist and that's enough!" Through the anger Remus could see the tears, that was where he would make his move. Waiting for Roman to leave him an opening, Remus charged forward, dropping his weapon as he tackled Roman, clinging to him in a forceful hug. For a moment, Roman was stunned, then came the anger and the yelling.
"Let go of me! Get off!"
Then finally the resignation and the tears, and Remus began to gently rub Roman's back.
"I can't do this. I'm no good at being good, every decision I make is wrong and I don't know what to do anymore."
The brokenness in Roman's voice was awful, and Remus just held his brother, rocking back and forth on his feet. There was a wave that passed between them and he watched as both his sleeves and Roman's began to mute out to the color of ash, a soft grey. So many people thought ash meant death, but it could also mean growth and rebirth. Roman would rise above this, because that's what a hero did.
"You've just hit a stumbling block Ro, you are going through so much shit and don't know how to handle it all, and that's fine, because it's you, you're going to get through it."
"How can you be so certain?" Roman asked, voice shaking. "How can you be sure that I can rise above all of the quagmire and treachery?" He looked down at his own outfits. "How am I going to escape the shades of grey?"
Remus shrugged. "No idea, but I know you can figure it out because that's just who you are. You are Thomas' creativity, builder of the mindscape, creator of the imagination."
"More like destroyer."
Remus frown, gently leading Roman out of the throne room and towards a spire where they could see the kingdom better. It was hard to look at the scene, at the destruction wrought by his brother's hands.
"You aren't the first creator to go postal on your creations, and you won't be the last, hell I do it pretty regularly, but that doesn't matter."
Roman was sniffling, and Remus continued to hold him, continued to be a support, "Because you remember it, and you can rebuild."
"But... what if I can't? What if I can't take on that position anymore, king, prince, hero? What if they are all lost to me?"
Remus shrugged. "It doesn't matter, because no matter what, I'll be right here by your side. I'll stay with you until the title of "King", "Prince", "Hero", or whatever other bullshit you want to call yourself feels right. I don't care if not a single one of those other idiots stands by your side. I'm your brother, and I'm an asshole, but you will always have me. The world could turn boring and peaceful, all the problems could be solved leaving nothing entertaining to do, and I will still be by your side, because like it or not, that's what siblings do."
Roman wiped his tears away on his white sleeve, standing tall with his shoulders back as he stretched out his hands, ready to create again. "Your motivational speeches need some work." Roman laughed, and his voice still wavered. There were still tears in his eyes.
Nevertheless, with his brother by his side, he persisted.

i'd LOVE to hear explanations to why you assigned which folklore song to which character (not that i need to be convinced that u're right, i already know it, but i love hearing people's opinions about taylor swift songs and their connections to fictional characters)
Yes! i would love to explain (this is going to be really long)
this is me trying - remus lupin
i feel like this could be any one of them, but mostly remus. "i've been having a hard time adjusting, i had the shiniest wheels, now their rusting" in my head, when he first came to hogwarts he still had hope and was excited, because he was magical and he still had a lot of energy to do his work, but then eventually he got burnt out and the prank happened and everything came crashing down. "and my words shoot to kill when im mad, i have a lot of regrets about that" i hc that he has anger issues, and would blow up on his friends a lot and obviously that would be triggering to sirius, so he would have a lot of regrets and self-hatred because of it. "i was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere. i fell behind all my classmates and i ended up here" again with the hc he was ahead of his class for so long and then he eventually fell back and lost hope after the prank "its hard to be anywhere these days when all i want is you. your a flashback in a film reel on the one screen in my town." i feel like this could be after the prank or after sirius gets put in azkaban. with the azkaban its hard because everyone hates sirius black, "they were a deatheater, who betrayed their best friends" so it would be hard when remus knows that sirius is innocent. and i think that one winter sirius stayed with remus and his mom in remus's hometown and they went to the movies, so it brings back up memories from that winter. there are also more lyrics that remind me of him but those are just the big 4.
mirrorball - james and pandora
"i know they said the end is near but i'm still on my tallest tiptoes spinning in my highest love, shining just for you." i think that during the war, dora and james were really stressed out and scared, but they felt like they had to stay calm and collected and be the one everyone could count on and they still had to be perfect for everyone and their partners. "i can change everything about me to fit in" i think that both of them are masters at masking, panda can change everything about themself (and did) to try and fit it, same with jams, they both had to mask so much and all they wanted was to fit in and be loved "im still a believer but i don't know why. ive never been a natural, all i do is try, try, try." i think this one kind of explains itself, but james and dora both always believed that everything would end up okay, it would all work out in the end, for them and their friends, and they both always did, no matter what. even when it was so clear it wouldn't end up okay, they still believed. and the natural part also goes back to the masking and how they've both never been naturals at anything and had to try really hard for everything people thought of when they thought about them. someone thought they were smart and grades came easily to them? no, not at all, they had to try so hard for all of it.
my tears ricochet - reggie (it said dora too but ive decided its more reggie than dora (its still very dora tho too))
"I didn't have it in myself to go with grace. And you're the hero flying around, saving face. And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake?" he didnt have it in him to die as a deatheater, following voldemorts orders (with grace), he didnt have it in him. and the other 2 lines are him talking to sirius. saying 'youll be known as the hero and i'll always be the villain. if you hate me, why are you standing at my grave?' because once sirius saw that reggie got the mark they said they hated him and they didnt see him as a brother anymore (they were lying) "and i can go anywhere i want, anywhere i want, but just not home." i think this one is kinda self explanatory "And I still talk to you (when I'm screaming at the sky) (1) And when you can't sleep at night (you hear my stolen lullabies) (2)" 1: once siri found out that reg had gotten the mark, they said they hated reg and didnt see him as a brother (they were lying) but of course they stopped talking to reg, so reg would stay up at the astronomy tower and talk to the sirius star as if it was his sibling (and before he went into the cave) 2: i hc that when ever their parents would curse siri or lock them in the basement, etc. then reggie would find them after once they went back to their room and would sing siri to sleep "you had to kill me, but it killed you just the same. cursing my name, wishing i stayed. you turned into your worst fears" um this is also reggie to siri, basically saying 'you had to kill me (by not helping me), but it killed you all the same (the guilt of not being able to help reggie, kill them).' you turned into your worst fears: when siri was in azkaban they convinced themselves that they did do it, it was easier that way, and in turn they turned into their worst fears, their parents, someone who lied and hurt people, a horrible person.
hoax - regulus black
"Screaming, "Give me a reason" (1). Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in. Don't want no other shade of blue but you. No other sadness in the world would do (2)" 1: james was the only person regulus confided in with his plans with the cave and james told him "no. your not doing that no. theres other ways, you can join the order, you can do anything. no." getting more and more desperate. regulus screamed "give me a reason! give me a reason i can't james, there isn't one, this is the only way i can help" 2: regulus didn't believe in love, but james love was the only hoax he believed in, he didn't think true love existed, but james's was the closest one could get to true love "you know the hero died, so whats the movie for? (1) you knew it still hurt under my scars, from when they pulled me apart. you knew the password, so i let you in the door. (2)" 1: when james died, he was the hero in reg's eyes 2: 'you knew the password, so i let you in the door' when reg first met james it was first year and they got introduced by siri on the train, and as a defense mechanism he would be mean and rude to everyone he met and so he was to james, but james being the nicest person in the world saw straight through him ("they see right through me, can you see right through me? i see right through me") and so he consistently talked to reg and he "knew the password to the door" and the door symbolizes reg's defense mechanisms and emotional barriers, so he let james thru them
invisible string - lilydora
"and isnt it just so pretty to think, that all along there was some invisible string, tying you to me?" it's basically canon that dora is incredibly romantic, and would always find rocks they think lily would like and give them to her and would definitely have said this to lily at least once, when they were playing with her hair in bed "gold was the color of the leaves when i showed you around centennial park" during the summers the entire group would go on camping trips to cornwall and during one of the camping trips just them two would goto a park and walk through and people watch. also just this entire song is about them but i just chose the two that are easiest to explain
the 1 - marylene
so first i hc that marylene dated in like 3rd or 4th year. and that marlene liked mary first from 2nd year thru 3rd year, but eventually accepted nothing was going to happen but then towards the end of 3rd year, mary started to like marlene too (once marlene was over her) and then one drunken night at truth or dare it was revealed that they both liked eachother (marlene being liked and mary being like) and so they decided to try and date, but it didnt work out and they broke up, and eventually moving on to their respective partners. so it was like right person, wrong time, which is what i think this song is about "but we were something, dont you think so?" i think that mary probably said something like this to marlene at some point, once they were both in other relationships and they were talking about when they dated saying like 'we were something weren't we? too bad it didn't work out' "but it would've been fun, if you wouldve been the one." this is more something that went unspoken between the two, 'it would've been fun if you would've been the one, your my best friend, why couldn't we have been more?'
cardigan - wolfstar
i feel like this has been widely accepted as the wolfstar song "vintage tee, brand new phone (remus) // sequin smile, black lipstick (sirius)" "And when I felt like I was an old cardigan, under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite" basically remus felt unloved and whenever he would, sirius would tell him hes loved and would make him feel loved. "But I knew you, playing hide-and-seek and giving me your weekends" the one winter break when they both stayed at hogwarts for it and they would play hide in seek around the castle. "you drew stars around my scars" THIS ONE. this one is so widely talked about, sirius drew stars around remus's scars. figuratively and literally. BUT with that being said, sirius has scars too. i think that once when sirius was bored they drew stars around moony's scars and it became a thing for them, whenever one of them was feeling insecure or anything, they would draw stars around eachothers scars. "cause i knew you stepping on the last train." the last time they got on the train to go home from hogwarts, they knew eachother, more than they would've expected when they got on the first train to go to hogwarts in first year. "The smell of smoke would hang around this long (1). 'Cause I knew everything when I was young. I knew I'd curse you for the longest time (2)." 1: i think that one time siri gave remus their (leather) jacket becaue remus was cold, and from then on remus just kept it, forever. and no matter what rem did to it, it would always smell of cigarettes, even when sirius was dead. 2: remus knew everything when he was young, he knew he'd love siri till the day he died, and he would always curse sirius for that, why did he have to love them? no matter what, he would always love sirius black, and he would always curse them for it.
the last great american dynasty - marlene mckinnon (ik it said lily but i changed my mind)
"they say she was seen on occasion pacing the rocks, staring out at the midnight sea" thinking about regulus (that was my attempt at a joke) "and in a feud with her neighbor, she stole his dog and died him keylime green" this is the most marlene thing ever "there goes the loudest woman this town has ever seen, i had a marvelous time ruining everything" marlene was the louded, most opinionated person anyone knew, and they had a marvelous time ruining everything.
exile - jegulus
"so step right out, there is no amount of crying i can do for you" whenever reggie would open up to james, he would cry himself to sleep. "i never learned to read your mind (you never learned to read my mind). i couldn't turn things around (you couldn't turn things around) cause you never gave me a warning sign (i gave so many signs)" james is bon iver in this and reggie is taylor (the parenthesis). as close as james got, he could never read reg's mind, he could never fully see throught the mask he put up. and as hard as james tried to stop reg from going in the cave, to turn him around, he couldn't. and as many times reg tried to talk to james, to give him a sign, james never thought he was serious (sirius), he thought he'd changed reg's mind. he hadn't.
seven - sirius black
"and thought i can't recall your face, i still got love for you." once sirius got put in azkaban, faces started to get blurry. they remembered people who they loved with everything but they couldn't remember their voices or faces, just blurry memories of laughter and happiness. "and ive been meaning to tell you, i think your house is haunted. your dad is always mad and that must be why. and i think you should come live with me and we can be pirates, and then you wont have to cry or hide in the closet." james 100% said this to sirius at some point in 1st or 2nd year, when james was still innocent and didn't know what was really going on. the closet part could be taken literally like how sirius would hide in the closet and try to get away from their parents, or it could be taken as they had to go in the closet and hide their gender and sexuality from their parents.
august - just the marauders era in general, or it could apply to any of the ships
"but i can see us lost in the memory, august slipped away into a moment in time." with the hc that they went to cornwall every summer starting in 4th year, they would go in august. and they would always look back on those memories. "back when we were still changing for the better, wanting was enough, for me it was enough. to live for the hope of it all." back when they were still young and hopeful and just living for the fun of it, not worried about wars or death, just being kids. and this entire song just gives cornwall vibes, and shoutout to grant chapman also.
illicit affairs - jegulus
"Make sure nobody sees you leave. Hood over your head, keep your eyes down, tell your friends you're out for a run. You'll be flushed when you return." SECRET JEGULUS SECRET JEGULUS!! james would do this like twice or 3 times a week and say he was out for a run for quidditch "you showed me colors i couldn't see with anyone else" james showed regulus hope and love, two things he's never seen before (except from sirius, but its different). "look at this idiotic fool you made me. you taught be a secret language, i can't speak with anyone else." regulus never really knew how to express love, until james, he would always express it in the little things, and james knew that so they kinda developed their own love language "and you know damn well for you, i would ruin myself a million little times." i dont have much reasoning for this, it just gives jegulus vibes idk
mad woman - all the girls
in my head, all of the girls (girls just meaning like dorcas, marlene, mary, pandora, emmeline and lily, so using it loosely since not all of them are girls but i couldn't think of another word) were all very angry, like they just had anger seeped into their bones, because of all the discrimination and pressure and expectations put on them, just like how i believe all AFABs are build with pain and sadness built into their bones. so i just think every lyric of this song describes that pain and anger they all have.
epiphany - the war
"keep your helmet, keep your life son. just a flesh wound, here's your rifle" i feel like this is kinda like dumbledores attitude towards everyone in dumbledores in his army thing. like basically saying 'oh thats not that bad of a wound (their trauma and nervousness towards the war) and then handing them a gun (or wand in their case) and telling them to fight. "'doc i think shes crashing out' and some things you just can't speak about." i feel like this is how a lot of them felt as they watched all their friends die, when they find their body on the battlefield, or the hc that sirius found james and lily dead on the floor, some things you just can't talk about. "only twenty minutes to sleep, but you dream of some kind of epiphany. just one single glimpse of relief, to make sense of what you've seen." i like to think that when one of them died they would all meet up as ghosts or wtv and become ghosts at hogwarts and play pranks for eternity (its canon stfu) and they would visit whoever else was still alive in their dreams and they would visit mary every night (once she obliviated herself) and she would think it was so weird how these people (who seemed familiar) kept coming to her in her dreams.
betty - wolfstar/the prank
"the worst thing i ever did was what i did to you" this is the only thing sirius could think to say to remus other than im sorry "i'm only 17 i don't know anything, but i know i miss you" even though sirius knew this was the worst thing they could've ever done to remus, they missed him like hell. and even though remus wanted to and tried so hard to hate sirius, he never could. "the only thing i want to do is make it up to you" sirius tried so hard to make it up to remus in every possible way, saying their sorry, letting him yell at them, doing all remus's homework, they were willing to let remus hit them, anything.
peace - dorlene
"I never had the courage of my convictions. As long as danger is near, and it's just around the corner, darling. Cause it lives in me. No, I could never give you peace" marlene could never give dorcas peace, they couldn't ever be still, could never stay in one place, have a family, they just couldn't, they would never be able to give dorcas peace, but dorcas loved them anyway. "And you know that I'd swing with you for the fences, Sit with you in the trenches, Give you my wild, give you a child" dorcas wasn't a violent person, they liked to keep peace and be nice to everyone, unless there was a reason not to. but they would do anything for marlene. anything. give them a family, throw as many swings as possible, anything. "family that i chose, now that i see your brother as my brother" marlene's family were a bunch of shitholes, so they found their own family, dorcas's. dorcas's mom was their mom, their brother was their brother.
omg thats it (this totally didnt take me 3 days)! it was fun to write though, thank you so much for asking

Lovely second part! Any headcanons on each Loud (and the others) when they first transformed into their inner animal? Was it painful or enjoyable?
Part 1
Part 2
A/N - Thanks! And boy do you all love animal headcanons for many fandoms. Am I doing okay with this?
Part 3
Lori:
It was a mix of pain and joy.
She only had her parents to help, and later Bobby when they started dating.
But eventually she was able to go through the transformation without any pain.
But then she experienced puberty and well…guess which is worst pain wise?
——
Leni:
Had a much better experience due to more support.
She was scared at first though, but eventually she grew to love it.
Helped her fashion passion grew, and she got inspired from her animal spirit.
——
Luna:
Was the first Loud to be completely comfortable with her transformation.
Helped she been getting into rock and roll, and music was said to be one of the ways people were able to get through their transformations easier.
Hates having school the next day after transformation under full moon, as she is sooo tired.
—-
Luan:
Was a bit nervous at first, but after trading jokes with her dad, she realized laugher really was the best medicine.
So she always went into her transformation with a joke, which might of creeped out her younger siblings as it looked more she became some horror villain.
Somehow is able to perk up the next day just fine.
——
Lynn Jr.:
Felt an adrenaline rush every time she transformed.
The fact she loved to play wrestle helped with any soreness first transformations usually came with. (Imagine like Remus from HP after a full moon).
Loves to play sports even more at night due to her night vision making any sport look like laser tag.
——
Lincoln:
Had a very rough time first transformation wise.
Maybe it was being the sole boy in the family, or stress, or maybe both with a mix of fear.
Either way, transformation on full moons are the worst for him out of all the Louds. It takes sheer will just to get up after each transformation to go to school the next day.
—-
Lucy:
Loves to transform, and basically mastered it before any of her siblings at a young age.
Could fly for hours, not a care in the world.
That is, until morning where her energy is drained and she basically looks like a zombie after every full moon. At least until she gets older and it gets easier, but she still isn’t a morning person.
——
Lana:
At first was scared, but after coaxing from her older siblings, and support from her twin, she was able to do her transformation on a full moon easy.
If anything, it’s an adventure to her.
Will eat like crazy due to high metabolism.
——
Lola:
At first, tried to sound confident and flexible the first time.
But eventually gave in and asked her sisters for support.
Will go full beast mode if someone gets dirt or something on her (Lana she sort of tolerates).
——
Lisa:
She researched constantly, but secretly was still afraid.
Thankfully Lincoln could tell, and helped with said fear.
Now uses it as a research project.
——
Lily:
Doesn’t start till one is 4 years old.
But when it did happen, it wasn’t so bad.
She honestly enjoyed it overall.

So I'm working on this Sanders Sides fic where Janus and Roman are both actors, and Janus auditions for the villain of this big, anticipated movie. And he doesn't get cast as the villain, but rather, as the main protagonist, and he and Remus (who is a prop artist for the movie) move to London where this is being filmed. (They previously lived in the states with the other sides) At first, Janus is a little hesitant to play a hero, but falls in love with the role. They're still looking for someone to play the villain tho.
But this is written from Virgil's perspective. And he's so happy for his friends and their opportunities. But he, himself, isn't doing great. He's struggling a lot, and when Patton, Roman, and Logan find out, they try to help, but are kind of stuck, and don't know what to do. But they know Janus and Remus have known him a lot longer, so eventually one of them reaches out to the two, and Janus cancels one of his dream roles to come home and stay w Virgil, once he hears the extent of it.
Virgil learns about this and makes Janus take his role back, and says he'll come to London with him if that's what it takes. So Janus agrees, because he REALLY wants this role. And Roman comes with them for the first two weeks cause he misses Remus and Prinxiety is pre-established in this, and he wants to help his bf adjust.
While there, he helps Janus practice some lines, since they still don't have anyone cast for the villain. And one of the ppl in charge of casting (Remy) overheard and was amazed and urged Roman to audition. And he does! He gets the part!
I've got more in store for this AU but I'm almost home and won't be on my phone for awhile. But if you want to be tagged in this AU in the future, as well as when I post it, send me an ask!!

Been thinking about the first Sanders Sides AU I ever saw that got me into the fandom after hearing the song Evelyn Evelyn for the first time in a while
It was a Gacha Life AU by this one old Sasi Gacha creator that was a light side zombie AU. I’m pretty sure it was titled Zombie Sides if anyone remembers it. It’s no longer available because it got deleted with the channel of the person who made it. I don’t think there were any ships between the light sides but I do remember there being some Demus and maybe some Prinxiety.
Plot recap under cutoff (TW for death mention, murder mention, unsympathetic C!Thomas, zombies, violence, and argument mention)
The basic plot as far as I remember was that Roman and Remus got into an argument to the song Evelyn Evelyn (Roman as male voice, Remus as female voice), so the light sides go on a day out together to cheer Roman up. On that day out together, the lights are killed. They’re eventually brought back as zombies, which leads to the start of a zombie apocalypse. Remus and Janus (who was referred to as Deceit since it was made before his name reveal) end up getting attacked by the zombie lights and end up escaping and ganging up with a group of random people (that I’m pretty sure were the creator’s ocs) to try to find a cure.
I’m forget most of what happened after Remus and Janus teamed up with that group but pretty sure that Remus and Janus ended up figuring out that C!Thomas had started the apocalypse and Remus ends up killing C!Thomas when they confronted him and the sides are revived and turned back from zombies to humans, and Roman and Remus make up. This was literally my favorite AU, and I wish it wasn’t deleted.
The AU was actually pretty good and coherent and I miss it. I also think having C!Thomas as the twist villain was interesting because not a lot of Gacha AUs were using C!Thomas for anything and was more side focused so having the twist villain be C!Thomas instead of some random person was actually pretty cool.
Honestly, I should just remake the AU as a fanfic-
