Okay every time I read one of your celtophobia posts I am filled with immediate and incandescent rage, enough to propulse the responsible idiots into space but not to bring them back again. I'm really sorry about the """""lecturer"""""" you had to sit through this morning, and any other instances that happen. Hugs.

That said, I am very worried of doing the same thing and want to make my utmost sure I don't, so I thought it'd be okay to ask someone from a language that has to fight for space for politeness tricks. Apologies if this is not okay!

Context: I'm from continental Europe, which means English is my second language (I speak three languages and a half ish, the half is in process, because #languagenerd). I'm moving to Ireland come September, and I'm absolutely terrified of offending the good Irish people when I don't know how to pronounce their names, surnames, street names, or anything else; or, worse, try and end up butchering them in the manner of the British.

Dilemma: How can I ask for help when pronouncing things in a delicate way? I was thinking of signing up to Irish courses once I'm there, but for now I'm panicking about the actual move so I can't get a head start with that because my brain space is limited, and other than watching YouTube videos with the most common Irish names/words ahead of arriving, I honestly don't know. I want to be culturally sensitive and make sure they feel respected and not Colonised, Part Three Hundred, but also they shouldn't have to bear the weight of my lack of cultural knowledge and Teach Me? Idk. Just thoughts.

Good question! I suppose it's a two-part procedure:

Step 1: Learn a pronunciation guide. By that I just mean get to grips with the alphabet, common phonemes, etc and how those are said. With something like Welsh it's super easy (because phonetic), something like English it's super hard (because not phonetic); Irish is a bit more complex than Welsh, but still more phonetic than English. You might not be able to get to a "perfect every time" place, but you can get yourself to a "right most times" place.

Step 2: If you encounter a name you aren't 100% sure of, offer your best educated guess when asking. This shows that you have done the work, you are making a genuine attempt, but you still have the humility to ask to make sure.

When I say "best educated guess", I mean it's clear that you're guessing based on a working knowledge of the language rules in question. In Welsh, for example, if someone asks me how to pronounce "Cymru", there is a world of difference between someone saying "Sim-roo" (based on English pronunciation rules transposed onto Welsh) and "Kim-ree" (based on Welsh pronunciation rules, they just forgot which pronunciation of 'y' to use for the syllable it's in.) If someone says to me "How do you say that? Sim-roo?" then I know they haven't attempted any prior learning (though points for being interested enough to ask.) But if they say "Am I right in thinking it's Kim-ree?" then I know they've made the effort themselves, they've done the work, they just have a carry error that's skewed the answer.

Plus, you may well be right! And will be right more and more often the longer you're in Ireland.

If it helps, there's an Irish pronunciation guide here that's pretty good (or was back when I used it), and teanglann.ie is a pretty good resource for this, as it's a dictionary that lets you hear the words aloud and explains grammatical uses. (Irish people please feel free to add any other resources to the notes if you feel so inclined!)

As a final note, mind, given that you don't have time atm to dedicate brain space to this, speaking as a Welsh person I would be absolutely fine with someone saying to me "Sorry, I haven't had chance to learn yet, how do I say this?", or some variant thereof. Or, frankly, anything that's just... a polite request, and not laughing about it. I would take a thousand instances of "How do I say that? Sim-roo?" over even one "I don't know how to say that, haha" because the former is still caring enough to ask. So don't panic! A polite request will see you right.

How to Spot an AI-Generated Tai in the Wild!

Because I am insanely obsessed with the blorbo and AI art is a hot-button topic right now, here's a silly thing. I'm sure most artists can tell the difference between real and AI art. But my autistic brain wants to pick apart Tai's character design a bit so here you go. This applies to all seasons, touching on basic traits Tai has between them. So I won't go too much into clothing here (people like to dress him up in different cool outfits anyway- keep doing that).

Note that this isn't true to all models, but works 90% of the time. AI art is advancing so quickly that this may be obsolete by tomorrow. Also, real art might "fail" these little tests simply due to lack of experience drawing the character. If you suspect someone is posting AI art, just block and move on. Report if you want, but you know how Tumblr feels about AI. Most importantly? Don't use this post to be a dick.

WARNING: This post uses AI-generative images found from around the Internet for demonstrative purposes. No credit is given because if the "creators" wanted credit, they should've learned how to actually draw. :)

SKIN TONE

Tai has this nice, tanned skin tone that the rest of the Adventure DigiDestined do not have. While he keeps it in 02 and tri, he loses his color in Kizuna. A real fanart piece is most likely to reflect this, or even add color to his paler designs.

Most AI models have a generic pasty white skin tone for anime characters. This applies to any anime character, not just Tai. I believe this model might have gobbled up his Kizuna skin tone. But I've seen fake Tais even paler than this.

There are some AI models that combat this. But the standard AI identification tricks apply. Here, the tongue is mushy, and the highlights on his goggles make no sense.

HAIR OF FLOOF FLOOF

Ah yes- my point of expertise. Tai's hair is a difficult thing to draw. I don't blame anyone for dropping the ball here. But AI does have some notable, repetitive failings.

A "legit" Tai tends to have fluff, rather than spikes. The bangs consist of one stripe over the forehead. The few spikes present designate messiness, but the general shape is actually curvy (look at the top right side of the head for the most wavy lines). The size of the floof ranges between adaptions and even storyboard artists.

AI-generators are convinced that all "anime hair" is spiky. Notice this AI Tai has more spikes and less curved lines.

Then, there's this one, which drops the ball on Tai and Matt so bad that both characters resemble Bakugou from My Hero Academia.

WHO'S THAT DIGIDESTINED?

Eye shape and color has some leeway depending on the artist's style. Adventure/02, tri., and Kizuna supply three different eye styles. However, there are still some dead giveaways.

Revisiting this AI-generated image, the eyes look...familiar. No?

How about now? The modern Pokemon anime style has been completely absorbed by AI models. Sometimes, Digimon and Pokemon will be confused for each other, resulting in similar eye shapes and other traits (look at the noses, too).

HUMAN TOUCH

There's some times you can look at an art and know with confidence it was human-made, such as-

MS Paint blobs/sketches on lined paper/anything showing layers/etc. They're too unrefined for an AI image creator to want to profit off of, so why would they make them?

Some fetish art. A lot of kinksters are using AI, which is why deviantArt made good ammunition for this post. But many have distinct art styles that AI has not copied yet.

Western-cartoony art with hard or thick lines. AI is allergic to these traits atm. Notice the softer, thinner outlines on all three fakes.

Clearly attempting to master Tai's unique traits, even if they don't translate well (e.g.- a dome vaguely shaped like his hair is more credible than a "perfect" hairdo with too many spikes).

FINAL NOTES

All of this could change tomorrow, at the rate at which AI advances. I'm fairly good at deducing AI art from human-made art. But a recent piece almost tricked me (interestingly, it was Davis- not Tai- who looked off). These things are constantly evolving. But in addition to the usual tricks, knowing your blorbos can help identify AI images so you can freely block (or, when applicable, report) the idiots who made them.

It was the spring of 2020 where you meet Minhyung Lee, the one who you thought would last forever by your side through thick and thin. You were working part time as a barista at a coffee shop near your college and he was one of the regular customers of the coffeeshop.

"Can I have one banana smoothie and bagel, please?"

You are not going to deny that he does have a good looks. But you know better not to messed up while you are still working.

Riddle has made it his life's mission to get the message across that he just loathes your entire existence.

You hand him a handkerchief after he's done with his meal? He's offended you think he can't get one himself! In which he is perfectly capable of doing, but he let's you anyway with a small pout on his face as he receives the said cloth from you.

The small check-ins you do to make sure he's not overworking himself? Why, do you perhaps think you can catch him off guard when he doesn't notice? Hah! nice try, but he can see through your fake acts of concern! (as he says)

When you help him tidy up his things after your study sessions? You're just playing nice! trying to outdo him in everything no matter how small. What do you take him for? some sort of mindless bafoon? Why are you always trying to iritate him in the smallest of ways? Begone with you!

Riddle doesn't like being in the same airspace as you. It's suffocating, yet whenever you leave the room he can't help but hold his breath, looking up from his book from time to time to see what you're up to, but the moment you return, you'll find his brows knitted while trying to go back to the page he was on.

Right now, Riddle is once again plopped onto a stool, book in hand, as he recites the formula's that you helped him memorize for the upcoming test he'll have on monday.

"Hey, This one's a little confusing, do you mind if—" It takes him a moment to realize he was talking to complete thin air when he gets no reply in response to his question. "Where- oh." That's right, it was the weekends, meaning you didn't have to tutor him on these days, meaning he just assumed you were here with him when he's been alone the whole day studying.

Your presence really was leaving a big impression on the red head life, and before he even realises it he's been counting down the days to hours to how long until he see's you again.

What nonsense am I spouting? He's become aware of the way he acts around you, how he's so much eager to learn when you're the one teaching him, how he's come to like listening to history lessons when it's your voice narrating the stories, how he's started to try harder when you give him praise for getting a question right.

He's already gotten so used that your attention was always on him that he forgets you're your own person sometimes.

There was a time where Riddle wanted to show you this new project he's been working on, he carried it all the way from his bedroom to the living room with a pep in his step and sparkles in his eyes, excited to show you his great creation!

He closes the door with a sigh, he shouldn't be this disheartened, It's not like he made sure to include a few of the things you liked into his project, it's not like he had you in mind when making it. Of course you have other things aside from him that need your undevided attention, but in that very moment, Riddle had wished to yank that book out of your hand and toss it into the fireplace.

From your point of view however— you almost broke your facade, after you said those words and took a small peek from behind your book, you felt bad after seeing the smile on Riddle's face turn into a frown, it looked like a child getting rejected of the toy he wanted.

There were also other instances that made Riddle question what he was doing. Your job was to be a tutor for Riddle, but after all that work gets done you were back to being a regular kid free to do whatever you wanted. Riddle didn't have that kind of freedom, he was a student outside in school and inside his own home, but as time went on he didn't have anything to complain about for as long as he had you as his companion.

So this situation at hand has really left him conflicted with his feelings.

Usually after he's done answering, he'd have you check his papers for any mistakes, but to his suprise, instead of seeing you in your usual place by the living room, he see's you leaning by the window, to what seems to be you chatting with the kids from outside.

"Hey, why don't you play outside for awhile? It must be really boring being cooped up in there all day!" Giggles and laughter errupted as the kids coaxed you in to playing outside with them.

Riddle's breathing changed patterns, that familiar ringing in his ears returning once again. You wouldn't leave him just to play outside with some strangers right? Riddles eyes were searching, but what exactly is it that he wants from you? To listen to you reject their offer, to say that you'd prefer to be here with him instead? how childish

"Sure! but only on one condition." Whispers were shared as the kids nod in agreement, you didn't even think twice as you bolted outside, leaving Riddle standing in the middle of the room, papers crumpling under the grip of his small hands. You didn't even bother to let him know you were leaving.

He should have known, but in the end he never blamed you. He expected as much, after all he wasn't the very nicest to you either, but a part of him knew he was trying, trying to be a better person to you, for you. He was huddled up under the blankets, small whimpers leaving his mouth as he tried his hardest to not looked like a kicked puppy when you returned, but he couldn't help it. His feelings got hurt by his most favorite loathed person.

It wasn't long until he heard the closing of his bedroom door, and the errating breathing you let out, panting out heavy breathes, he hears the crumpling of a paper bag you set down on his bedside table.

"H-had fun with your new friends?" He was trying his hardest to keep a firm tone with you, that's how it would have turned out if not for how he was sniffling under the covers. You didn't respond, instead choosing to snatch the blanket and throw it over his head, revealing the hidden red head.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" He was beyond frustrated at this point. Couldn't he be vulnerable without you having to do that so aggressively?! his heart is already in tatters and he doesn't need the same done to his blanket.

But before he could scream his lungs out you pulled out the most amazing sight Riddle has ever laid eyes upon from the paper bag. He couldn't believe it, right there being held by your tiny hands on a plate was a strawberry tart, no imperfections and in perfect condition, being displayed right infront of his face.

"How..."

"I had to make a deal, and that was if I played for a bit with those kids outside, they'd give me a strawberry tart for joining them! Really sweet deal if you ask me, and in the end I kinda just ditched them once I got the tart, plus I know how happy you'd get once you've gotten a bite."

"You did this... for me?"

"Well, what other reason would I have done all that for?"

He really was crying now, tears of frustration and joy. You always managed to get his feelings all tangled up, but managed to untangle them in a way that left a warm feeling in his chest.

Ripping his heart out only to give it back mended by your delicate hands was a round a bout way to do it he supposes, but he wasn't gonna give you that amount of satisfaction so easily.

"I can't eat this, what would mother think if she see's me with this in my possessions?"

"Well I'll... tell her I forced you to eat it as punishment for not getting a question right!"

"Then you'd get punished."

"I already went out of my way to get this and give it to you, the least you can do is have a taste."

You give Riddle a pat on the head while feeding him the tart, helping him wipe away the tears that are still falling down his cheeks.

"...It's salty."

"Then stop crying! or else I'm shoving this whole tart down your throat!"

Who would have thought something so bitter ended up being the sweetest reward in the end. Indeed, how sweet that is.

Funnily enough, I'm not sure I'm an expert on Fandom Classics, but I do think that the long Clone Wars rewrites/fix-its are a perfect way to start! (And then you can move on to shorter fics and crazy AUs haha) So these are all longer, and can be fit into TCW continuity, even if they diverge at some point because the writers can't help themselves and will fix canon (as they should).

Focuses on Obi-Wan, mostly, but we also learn a bit about how the Kaminoans treated the clones.

I am teaching myself how to be free by tattooedgreenhouse (@gershwyndl) - this might be THE Clone Wars rewrite for me because the author has taken upon themselves to literally retell the whole series from Cody's AND Obi-Wan's POV. It's ambitious, I'm pretty sure it's technically canon compliant, but we do get our happy ending. Appropriately, it's 113k long.

i'll orbit your flickering star by sunskippa (@sunskippa) - Also a Clone Wars rewrite (by this I mean that it goes through the events of the series from Cody's POV), also canon compliant, 78k words. Might be my favourite ending in the genre, beautiful. I don't even know how to sell this, but it's a must-read imo

Misunderstandings ensue. Look at the tags/ratings, some of the works later on are spicier/angstier. But you could also read the first one and call it a day if those aren't your jam. (The whole thing is 166k long at the moment.)

will you be an anarchist with me? by a_alene (@birdiedoessw) - an outsider POV (Rex's) on Cody's and Obi-Wan's relationship. With the extra twist that they can't stand each other at the beginning of the war. This is something I would've loved to read when I was getting into codywan, it's a great way to start. (25k words)

shoulder the sky series by Night Fury (@shootingstarpilot) - Last but not least, an ongoing series (all but two works are finished, more than 200k words atm). You'll have to "get through" the first work to read the more codywan-focused fics (and I don't mean this in a bad way because the story is a m a z i n g. Just so you know.) To be honest, I think it might be a bit confusing to read at the moment because as far as I can see a work was removed from the series, but it's still up? I'm not sure what happened there, but I suppose you could simply read all the author's works in chronological order :D This series is pretty much Obi-Wan AND clone troopers focused and relies a lot on the Jedi Apprentice series (which isn't canon anymore) but you're gonna be fine if you haven't read it.

oh yeah anyway my further deckbuilding advice for hctcg (and other tcgs) but this time less 'actual talk about ratios' and more 'philosophical advice i guess':

netdeck (copy other people) all you'd like. yes i KNOW people will be rude when you netdeck a popular deck but like... actually who cares, deckbuilding is a skill, it's hard, and netdecking gives you a framework you can be pretty sure is decent to start playing with so you can learn mechanically without losing all the time. later, you can adjust it to use stuff you like more, or adjust it based on what you see other people playing. (this is basically entirely how i build magic decks for mtg:a standard, i find a version of what i want to play that someone else made and then adjust it as i play it to be more what i want to play.)

similarly people will complain a LOT about people who play the meta and just... ignore those guys? if you enjoy playing meta play the meta. learning the meta and, more importantly, why certain strategies are meta will make you better at running off-meta when you want to too. literally any competitive game will have a meta, devs will use banlists/limited lists/errata to try to rebalance and change the meta as needed, players will try to break the meta. that's how it goes. you're not a bad person if you like winning. winning is fun. play meta all you want.

if you like a certain effect just build your deck around that thing you'll have fun with it i promise. yes even if it's bad. yes "is this thing really an optimal choice" is how i do a lot of thinking (hence my deck being so many three-ofs part of my process is "if i'm playing this, is it worth playing at less than three"), but that's not everyone's thing. "does this spark joy" is also important!

(glances back at mtg:a again there's a REASON i refused to play mono-black for like the past three sets and that's because i just don't like it, even if playing a deck that could actually play sheoldred probably would have been better,)

remember that single game format kinda sucks a little bit and there's a reason most tournaments play with a sideboard (set of 8-15 cards that you can swap in between games after seeing what your opponent plays). actually DO recommend sideboarding with friends. sideboarding is fun.

you're allowed to tell your friends you're playing with like, your own invented banlist, that's a thing you can do, have fun with it.

uh. basic items are boring but you need to play a lot of them unless you're playing really low-curve and even then my mono-redstone is the equivalent of 'really low curve' and i still hesitate to cut more items,

did you know i got FTKed by stress the other day? because i'm like this and think people should be allowed to play broken stuff i'll tell you how they did it, it was with a combination of rare stress, opponent flipping going second, and opponent drawing into a efficiency book turn one it was SO FUNNY. i love FTKs. winning before the opponent gets to play is very funny.

that's probably unreliable though and WILL make your friends mad at you if you do it so you know. mileage may vary

i still think "cheap and aggro" is probably the best deck atm; like, doc was complaining that pearl needs to be nerfed but i'm REALLY not convinced. maybe it's because i play the deck with all the status effects though.

What's Wrong With Being the Villainess? - By Min Dohyang (7/10)

It's that time again! It's time for a yandere honorable mention, and the art this time is fantastic. Sadly the yandere character(s?) are side characters, but they bring the drama. The actual main romance is meh at best but the protagonist is very fun. Isn't that confusing? It is but it is what it is. This embraces how dumb it is. The cougars name is Cookie.

Doohee is a pushover. She dies knowing that her boyfriend used her as an ATM, and he never even thought of himself as her boyfriend. Doohee is weak to handsome faces. She's nice but easy to bully because she seems fake nice. She wanted to learn how to be selfish, because she was tired of constantly looking for approval. She was a good student, but she never took care of herself.

Deborah Seymour is an idiot. A vain one. She is the opposite of Doohee. She was born with money and influence, but no brains. She cannot use magic, even though she is the from the best magician family. She adores her pretty face because it is all she has. People suck up to her, but nobody likes her. The man she loved knew she was trash from a good family. The black sheep, so he rejected her publicly. Deborah is madly jealous of her own siblings and she hits people for fun.

A very confused Korean Doohee wakes up in her body.

Her own father hates her, for good reason. Deborah was a manipulative bitch who didn't love her family. Doohee decides to live...as a Villainess. She sucks up to her dad, but she ignores all men. She avoids parties. She never brings up the guy she liked again. A bunch of misunderstandings lead to a happy ending? Kinda. Gorgias Seymour forgives his daughter after a few painful months. Why? Well, he's a dad and he just wanted his daughter to love him. His children are very competitive and special. He supports them and such, but he doesn't have a loving relationship with them. He has four children. The fourth killed his loving wife during childbirth. He was totally obsessed with his wife, and he hated Deborah because she is a bitch...with his wife's exact face. We're in an R18 erotica novel by the way. Gorgias is just a side character, but he's ok. After his wife died he just became distant. He's not some monster that mindlessly hates his kids.

New Debbie takes advantage of this, because she wants to run.

There's a special character in the novel. The mage who runs the illegal magic/trading shop. New Debbie wants to buy a Baron title...so she can stay single. Yup. Strong independent woman ending here we come.

The yandere, Belas, is Debbie's brother. The heroine of the novel hasn't appeared yet, but he's extreme. Debbie wants to get away from the Seymour House before her brother finds his destined lover.

Debbie has two insane brothers who are definitely sadistic yanderes. One hasn't even appeared yet. The eldest one. He feels like a final boss. I don't really know where the author is going with this??? The brothers kind of feel redeemable. They haven't kidnapped the Saintess yet....but they aren't nice.

None of the men in this are very nice, and Debbie doesn't like any of them. This is a spiritual magician named Pilaf. He's scary and I thought he was a yandere too, but he's flighty. As soon as Debbie shows up looking prettier than usual he gets distracted...but...uh...he is the type of guy that likes to kill people to impress his woman. He acts really hammy and charming, but behind closed doors he sheds alot of blood to bring gifts to Saintess Mia. Things will get really...covered in bloody presents if his affections turn to poor Debbie.

Sigh.

I hate this.

I do not like it when the sleepy looking attractive guy transforms into a generic prince. This is Isidore. He is secretly running the secret magic shop. He was secretly one of the main characters all along???? Gasp. Anyway I loved his original disguise and I feel cheated. Isidore seems to respect Debbie as a person and I'm sure they'll be a nice couple.

Saintess Mia may need to be saved from her yandere harem. Pilaf is flighty, violent and untrustworthy. The Seymour twins want her in their basement. Isidore no longer cares about her so that's good, but there are a few more wild cards in the mix. None of these men are normal. Saintess Mia is from a fallen noble family. Her magic makes her special, but money is important. If she's not careful she could end up in an awful marriage.

Debbie is gathering ten million gold just so she doesn't have to marry, because she knows how toxic the dating pool is.

It's also very likely that Saintess Mia seduced alot of men in the original book...in order to find a stable life. Not totally for sexy reasons. Yeah. Ok. Understandable. She also hates acting stupid and cute for Pilaf.

I have more bad news. Debbie is a magical and financial genius because reasons. I thought the gag premise was good. It mostly worked. Doohee genuinely wanted to be selfish and it was kinda working for her. Now she's just another generic perfect girlboss. With an equally generic prince. Sad.

(long ask, sorry!) the new media HH/HB thread on TV Tropes is doing the 'Viv gets scorn no matter what because she's a queer woman who makes things' routine atm (they're blaming TADC fans for toxicity and discussing the 'write like HB' trend, for context)

I've definitely seen creators (anyone, really) get far more hate online when they're female for stupid reasons, but it's frustrating to see them do the 'Viv can't win no matter what she does' thing because I can't really think of an instance where she hasn't responded to criticism she doesn't like, or has actually tried behaving like a professional for a minute - even some of her fans on subreddits have said she needs to step away from Twitter for her reputation's sake or hire someone for PR.

The reason she 'can't win' is not because she's a woman - she's not Rebecca Sugar and she's not Tracy Butler who know how to behave professionally (and before Viv started mudslinging at Lackadaisy, neither Tracy nor the LD crew had any drama attached to them despite Tracy being a woman herself... curious)

Viv's a creator who acts as though she doesn't have the confidence to let her work stand on its own merits and can't bring herself to ignore criticism (given she seems to disagree with practically all of it; the only thing I've seen Spindlehorse try to improve is not using red as a bg color so much and cutting down on the constant sound effects), & as a result she has cultivated a fandom who feel rewarded when they make tweets either defending her or explaining the show on her behalf because she keeps liking those tweets, which only makes it happen more. the lack of distance she keeps from her fans and the way she actively rewards the ones who put down criticism of her makes them act like she's their friend instead of someone whose show they like and someone who is actively using them as both a shield & sword. This is why the fandom has a bad rep, it's not just that the Hellaverse shows suck - it's that their creator will paint all criticisms as bad faith and only makes the effort to address fans not when they harass, bully or threaten people, but when they do something that affects her personally (like celebrate a ship on the same day as her birthday). and I understand social media feels like overwhelming toxic noise: but that's why creators need to learn to step back and not engage so much. enabling toxic fans aside, this level of enmeshment strikes me as bad for anyone looking to hone their craft and create something meaningful

as much as I want to offer some pushback in that thread I feel the plagiarism accusations will be immediately downplayed or ignored and any mention of bad pay or treatment in the workplace will be met with accusations of 'debunked!!' or 'some of the reviews were fake therefore all of them are, even the ones that line up with consistent accounts of bullying or misgendering or a pattern of no deadlines being given!!' asking 'I don't understand what she's done to attract this level of vitriol' kind of suggests they haven't looked that hard or listened to anyone who would want to tell them

but if I was to put it to them, I think I would say - Viv will 'win' when she behaves like a professional, credits people properly, doesn't just drop people when they're no longer useful, stops burning bridges with other people working in the indie animation space, stops vaguing and painting all criticisms as bad faith and understands that even behaving professionally will not make people stop criticizing her show, because every artist in the world has to deal with the fact that people will want to discuss and critique their work. and though I doubt the writing on her shows would ever improve, I'm sure people would at least respect her trying to act more like the professional showrunner she's supposed to be. no one can 100% control their own narrative with her level of Internet fame, but the best way not to make it actively worse is to stop trying to imo

Not as much as he does the boys. April's pretty good about having her own fun, she's got a family to go back to, she can separate herself when she needs to. She can handle herself!

Noted 👀 Though I don't read fanfic very often because I'm. Usually too busy writing it. fhgdkjgf I'm already behind on stuff I want to read. I will put it on my List.

Leo's least favorite is math, he finds it boring as all hell. Raph's least favorite is chemistry. He cannot get any of it right for the life of him. He accidentally made mustard gas once and from then on Donnie was paired with him to make sure that didn't happen again. Mikey's is history! He has a hard time just sitting still and listening. Donnie's least favorite is the mystic arts. He thinks it's unnecessary for him, because he doesn't have a mystic weapon.

Ghost just tells them he's going to teach them something today and they pretty much all show up. If they miss a day, he doesn't scold them about it or anything, he just lets them miss it. If they don't understand something because of it later, he can just teach it to them again. Normally they don't miss more than a day at a time, and if they do there's usually something else going on. Ghost is homeschooling them, and it's not like they're going to college. The point is learning, not to make them suffer when they don't feel like it. ;)

Splinter was giving the boys an education! He taught them colors, and alphabets, and how to read, how to clean, how to take care of themselves. Splinter taught them a lot, and Ghost knows that. He's not mad for Splinter focusing on the more practical things and less on the academic side.

Oh you think Ghost's self-blame and self-hatred is bad now? NOTHING compared to what it would be if he'd fallen into Rise after experiencing SAINW. He knows what's going to happen to his brothers. He knows he disappeared, and that the world ended because of it. He'd work a lot harder. I don't think he'd pay any attention to the kids, honestly, I think he'd be neck-deep in making a portal, trying everything, retrying it.

Ghost has accepted that he's stuck in his dimension. Donatello would not.

Phantom is far less scarred than Ell. He still has the leather jacket because I feel like he deserves a leather jacket. Ghost doesn't have the scar over his eye because of Phantom. When Ghost disappeared to the Battle Nexus to try and find answers, Phantom immediately started looking for him. Ghost had only meant to go for a day, but was trapped by Big Mama and forced to fight. Phantom found him and pulled him out of there before he ever got the scar.

Oh 03 Donatello is completely destroyed. He blames himself entirely. He works all the time to get his lost brother back. Ell and Spirit don't blame Donny, but Mike does a bit. It's easier to be mad at someone than the universe.

I'm pretty sure there are two episodes dedicated to just the duo working together or bonding cause they're the embodiment of technology and nature. I like this one because it fits more into the canon and they just give me brain rot >v<

and bee just seeking protection from bulk from all three is funny and cute to me! like, bulk and bee are long term besties of course they'd protect each other. bee just running to bulk, asking for a place to hide (from longarm and prowl lmao) and bulk agreeing. so, bee just naps in bulk's subspace while he's doing something as prowl and longarm wander around the factory

Blitz is literally attached to the Decepticons by nothing other than the fact he's scared of Megatron, it says so on the wiki even. And now Megatron is gone so technically there's nothing holding him back from doing what he wants and ditching everything to pursue the yellow scout that stole his Spark.

Prowl knew Bee for a while and had grown to admire him in secret. He never thought about asking him out cuz there was never an occasion- plus he thinks that Bee will turn him down cuz he's so different from him. (even if they get along great as they are)

Longarm/Shockwave is just stuck in a perpetual loop of "What's more important: Job or Love?" So he's just trying to cope with everything at once- seeing how every choice will impact his and Bee's life and all. It's a lot even for his processor. Although, similar to Blitz, Megs is gone atm so there's nothing holding him back from casually switching sides once and for all and devoting his life to Bee.

Bee is just there very confused and worried to why everyone wants to date him all of a sudden. I mean, he likes the attention but he doesn't like how possesive each of them get. He doesn't wanna be treated like a prize, but like a loved one. Bulkhead is just trying to help him out and so is the rest of the team- when Bee suddenly disappears they don't tell Prowl or Longarm where he went on purpose. Prowl is smart enough to understand Bee avoids him which saddens him. He wants to apologize but he never gets an opportunity.

Tbh after Blitz reveals Longarm is a spy there are 2 routes it can go; Longarm gets arrested and Bee is hurting cuz he did like him and Shockwave is just being depressed in his prison cell. Or Longarm pulls an uno reverse and says he's been an Autobot spy in disguise and been doing infiltration missions in secret to get Decepticon files, effectively earning him a good favor with Bee. (he's not really registered in the criminal records, he has access to that if he needed to delete it and all his actions have been anonymous from the start, few know of Shockwave's existance.)(Blitz knew Shockwave for a bit but he is too dumb to see thru Long's lie.)

Either way it's most likely that both Blitzwing and Prowl get to date Bumblebee. If Shockwave does decide to pull the uno reverse then he tags along too. Don't worry they learn to share nicely and that there is enough love for everyone.

Labyrinth Runners

Omg I loved this one!! buckle up, there's a lot of little details and a lot to point out

I suspected we might not get an update on Luz and the rest of the owl house members and the suspense there is killing me ngl...

I can already see it, both groups meet and both are like "we have SO much to tell you you're not gonna believe this-"

anyways, baby Willow and baby Gus my beloveds

I love their relationship. they were there for each other before anyone else was, and you can see how deeply they care for one another

Gus is a scary good illusionist, it must be frightening to have that happen

I ADORE that Bump allows more kids to try multi track magic, and Matt got into illusion magic! aww

Among Luz's messages was "don't scare him(them?) away" I think she was referring to Hunter. it's sweet she took the time to write that, but god I hope she's safe

I enjoyed Willow and Amity's plot as well! Amity trying to protect her because he values having her back vs Willow wanting her to see that she is strong and can fight alongside her!

once again Hunter parallels another character. Gus is trusting by nature, which has led to him getting hurt, while Hunter grew up in a competitive, hostile environment where the only person he trusted blindly ended up being a monster. He is being extra cautious. But Gus won't hurt him

God, Belos sent a search party and is pretending like he's all worried. he hasn't told anyone he ran away. but we know what'll happen if he goes back to the castle *shudders*

the acting and animation for the panic attack, the breathing and the hesitation were done with a lot of care. I also like that it's in "Gus' room"

Hi hello I just popped by to tell you just how much I absolutely LOVE your art. The dynamic poses, the color, your shapes, you’re very much an inspiration to me for my own art. I was curious if you’d be willing to share your own inspirations/process in drawing? No need to if you don’t feel like it though. Again, thank you for sharing your art with the world.

Gosh, I'm not sure where I'd even start for that...

I don't think I can get into process atm because it changes so much in such tiny ways all the time. I have a basic skeleton of a process, but the rest is all over the place.

As for insperations:

I follow many many artists online and have picked up many small things just from looking at their work and trying to "reverse engineer" their process in my head.

I've noticed I tend to subconsciously "study" artists just by thinking "how do I draw this? Oh this artist drew it that way! Lemme try..." and I do that many many times while drawing.

Example: I look at the way an artist draws hands, then I look at my own hand and try and mimick the position in the artwork.

I study both and try to connect the dots between them. I feel the way my hand moves and the way the bones and muscles flex and relax.

I try and draw broad shapes, then the underlying mechanics of the hand, then I finish things by drawing what we actually end up seeing on the surface.

I dont draw the bones and muscles of a hand and then the skin just to be clear! I just try and keep them in mind as a draw the outlines.

Like a sculpture having a "skeleton" made of two bits or wire. I don't draw the skeleton, I draw the rough blueprint of where everything goes in quick simple lines. Then I build the "clay" on top.

I don't go that in depth every time but it helps to stop and "be more considered" if you have the time and energy.

Now that I think about it, watch sculpting videos!

It's a very similar process to drawing but 3d instead of 2D! I recommend clay sculpture but I'm sure 3d modeling has similar principles too, even if a very different approach overall.

Here are some channels I recommend:

For cute character dioramas with ridiculous fidelity while being very stylised

For impressive fake food that really shows just how much of an illusion art is

For amazing Dino statues with an eye for detail and convincing naturalism

For 2d artists I follow current professional and/or hobby artists, or even old masters who's work is archived in artbooks and social media accounts. All ranging a wide variety or styles, cute, horror, cartoon, realist, ect... and most importantly, the styles wich aren't as easily definable.

The variety of influences is great! As long as you figure out how to pick and dissect the elements that drew you to the work and how to apply your findings to your own work.

My biggest inspirations as a kid where animation (Disney, pixar, ghibli, ect...), manga, Belgian/French comics my dad had as a kid.

I didn't have the patience or means to learn to animate, but these comics had so much life and motion in their panels! I always found American comics really stiff and more difficult to read because of the detail and "realism". I know American comic art can be very expressive and fluid, but for my undiagnosed eye/brain issues...

They where literally easier to read.

That comic cover takes me a good few seconds to dissect and process, whereas the two examples above it are instant.

I'm terrible at studying from life due to my poor eyesight and spacial awareness issues, also I have ADHD so, not only is the information my eyes are giving to my brain suboptimal, but my brain is also terrible at processing and reconstructing that information.

Also tracing is a valid way of studying btw, that's how I learnt as a tot and it can be great to try and reverse engineer a finished peice and break it down to it's construction.

Obviously it's not the same as building something from scratch but we're talking within the realms of practice.

I also started trying to "re-learn" some art fundamentals in ways that work better for me, and it's been massively helpful.

I'm already working with fuzzy simplified abstractions of the world around me, so it's horrible trying to see accurately and THEN re-simplify it onto paper.

So something that has helped a lot and I mean A LOT with teaching my brain art basics in a digestible, step by step way, has been:

ART ACADEMY for the DS!

It's great for walking you through art fundamentals in a way that is digestible and no where near as overwhelming as just jumping straight in to a massive, complex, digital art programme.

It gets all the fuss of materials and subject and reference out of the way and let's you just focuse purely on the process of making art itself.

This is all with the original DS version!

On a tiny screen with very primitive approximations of pressure sensitivity and no opacity or pen size options.

It mimics traditional art making in the sense that you make what you can with what you have and that limitation allows you to focuse on practice rather than get overwhelmed and over correct everything digitally.

These where tiny, crunchy, microcosmic, simplifications of digital art making back in 2009!!!

It's so refreshingly accessible and manageable.

I haven't even started the newer 3ds game that came out.

So if anyone reading is struggling with their art I highly recommend this little art exercise giver! It's helped me a lot.

Bae is the kind of person who deeply admires aesthetics;

He has dozens of different frames for his glasses just so that he can match them to his designer clothing;

So finding someone who fits his exact type would pique his interest;

Not enough that he’d stop being a snobbish wimp, of course;

But as someone who likes admiring cute things he’d make some effort to be around you more often;

He doesn’t even try to be subtle about it;

He’d find excuses to talk to you and give you the occasional compliment, although with his permanently sarcastic tone of voice and general attitude it’s really hard to tell if he’s being genuine;

And because he’s Bae, of course, he’d condescendingly give you advice;

Even more often than he does to most people, actually;

He’d suggest you style your hair in a specific way or another because it “looks better”;

And if you indulge him and wear your hair that way the following morning… Well, I’m sorry, but he’d take it as permission to act as your personal stylist;

He’d keep recommending specific hairstyles and outfits to you and if you didn’t wear them he’d be very patronizing about it;

Oh, and Bae would act like what he’s doing is a huge favour to you instead of the reality, that is that he thinks you’re cute and acts like you’re his doll;

If you manage to be best friends with JB, it means you have a high tolerance for people with huge egos, so being around Bae isn’t really that challenging;

JB would be happy to be able to spend time with both of you and would gladly welcome him hanging around;

Enough that JB, Bae and you become a little trio;

Other students at SSB will either think you’re a saint or be incredibly worried about your sanity for hanging around the jerks willingly;

But what can you say? Even if JB’s constant flirting with Bae bothers you a little, spending time with them leads to some very amusing situations, so it isn’t bad at all;

By the way— being the object of Bae’s interest and befriending him will lead to him giving you a few special nicknames, that he wouldn’t use when annoying talking to other people;

Oh, and regardless of your relationship being romantic or entirely platonic;

If he sees you in cute pyjamas he’s going to go absolutely feral;

I think the special nicknames are the point where JB would be 100% sure that he has a crush on you;

Sure, he acts a little different towards you, but the way he treats you is similar to how he’d sometimes treat Jeremy, another person he finds to be incredibly cute;

So she wouldn’t assume it to be romantic initially;

But when he calls everyone the same few nicknames it kind of stands out when he calls you something different;

She has an eye for gossip, and would start reading too much into every single interaction she witnesses between you;

And yeah, JB might have a bit of a crush on Bae (He’s an attractive jerk and therefore fits her criteria) but in a rare display of compassion, or maybe morbid curiosity as to how it’d play out, she decides to play cupid;

But, like Bae, JB is allergic to the idea of subtlety;

She would straight up tell you that she knows you have feelings for him and she thinks he very obviously likes you too;

And would proceed to feed you information about Bae;

Things that she learned from attending Jerksquad meetings and information Shiloh gathered for her;

Bae would not make a move until he’s forced to;

Being exactly his type wouldn’t change that, so unless you want to start dating him after graduating high school, making a move would be up to you;

He just thinks high school romances are silly and he intends to date to marry so he doesn’t want to waste time on something like this if it isn’t going to be serious;

And I do think his massive ego would kind of make him avoid a scenario in which he’s possibly rejected;

Anyways— if you do end up in a relationship, I don’t think that much would change;

Only that his insistence on dressing you up would grow and he’d go as far as to buy you outfits and accessories to wear;

He does have way too much money at his disposal and I think he’d genuinely have a lot of fun with it!
