#euden: of fun!

Minor detail consistency I noticed a while back in dragalia:

The Halidom has a throne room, believe it or not! I always found it a bit odd that they never really had much take place in there that I could recall, not even when receiving heads of state, etc, so I began to wonder if the Halidom even had one.

It, as I said, does! Hiding in plain sight on the menu screens. Here's a blast from the past but the environs can still be seen on the homescreen and team prep, it's not like they got rid of it.

Now that we have an area to compare art to, I had found an actual background art for it! I can vaguely recall this being used but not often or where.

Very fancy. I'm starting to get an idea why Euden might not have spent a whole lot of time there if he wasn't wanting to feel like he was lording over people. He probably thinks he's got better things to do like getting out there and solving problems than sitting on his throne even to hear requests or something.

But it actually appears in a wyrmprint to my best understanding, too. The "Crown of Light" print, if you zoom in very carefully on the other artworks for the Halidom's throne room seems to line up with the throne.

The sword behind the throne, the curtains, the pointy bits on the side, even the footstool you can see at the bottom seems to line up pretty well to the more detailed art.

Crown of Light's description is: "Alberia hands down no crown. The Founder decreed that authority ought to be conveyed in the people's admiration for their monarch. Such sentiment would be as a crown of light to illuminate the pride of the royal lineage." Combined with the fact all details seem to point that the background is Euden's throne, it's a subtler statement that he's earned the 'crown of light'.

So yeah, Euden actually did have a throne room. He just almost never seems to use it. Maybe that's why everyone treats it as a meeting hall in the home screen, it's practically a private spot! But just the fact they seemed to keep those details straight for Crown of Light was a very nice touch and attention to detail!

Halloween Euden from Dragalia Lost! I made a batch of chibi YCH (which will make a reappearance this year if all goes right!) and I knew I wanted to draw Halloween Euden, since we would never get to play him! He continues to be my son-boy. He was so fun to draw!!

does Nic have any favorite places she likes to go across her verses? does one stand out among the rest? is there someplace she can't go back to, for whatever reason?

Her favorite place in any verse she's been to would honestly have to be New Alberia for her Dragalia Lost verse.

Given that Euden did what he could to save everyone he came across, offered her and so many others sanctuary in his own dwellings...it was nice. Even former enemies became friends. She got to meet and actually bond with the dragons he managed to befriend.

The dragon she got paired up with a lot for missions was actually Prometheus! So for as much as he may gripe about it, the two's fiery tempers actually help Euden out when they need high DPS and good support. She will say though...actually shapeshifting and letting Prometheus take form was a wild time and a feeling she definitely had to get used to.

On top of now being in the middle of a war she wasn't expecting.

But getting to bond with everyone, Cleo's food...the fun training she gets to do! In general, New Alberia is so diverse and full of life, there's always something for her to do, someone for her to see and meet, and always a way she can help.

Not to mention the fact they make room for everyone too? No matter what, if you need sanctuary, they will ensure you have it. That's not only her favorite place, but one that stands out the most to her.

A place she can't go back to is Nohr in her Fire Emblem verse. Given that at the time being, she's present in Fodlan as a member of the Golden Deer and the Leicester Alliance. For the plot me and Pandora have going, Nohr has lost the war to Hoshido. It's in shambles. There is no home for her to go to there. So she's got to stay where she is now. It's sad though, because Prince Leon sent her to Fodlan to study sure, but his main goal was getting her away from Nohr because he could see the writing on the wall.

He might have been reluctant as hell to take her as a student, but after a long while, he saw her as another sibling. So he was making sure he protected her by sending her away from the war, not knowing she'd just end up in a different one regardless.

So far she's still alive. Leon has found her and they've been reunited. But it's not going to last for too much longer. If he goes through with asking the Adrestian Empire for help and joining them, it'll mean they're now on opposing sides. And she doesn't think she could live with herself having to go against him.

But she cannot and will not betray her family in the Alliance.

i remember starting drgl and really wanting g!euden for his design (and later, gameplay)! for coop lobbies, g!leif was incredibly fun to use after his spiral came out. special shoutout to leonidas and chelle for being force strike unga bunga carries

geuden was so great his s2 is still incredibly satisfying to use even years after he was released... i remember using gleif in l.iblis and constantly walking into the circular borders bc of his funky combo LMAOO you're right tho he is still really fun

Update on that WIP I’m doing. Kinda coming together, and for someone with little talent in drawing, it’s not too bad.

Gotta say, Ragna’s definitely the roughest of the bunch, but Euden turned out pretty alright.

Also, screw hands. Hands suck. I would know; I use them for most of my daily life.

Fun fact: Euden is ‘assumed’ to be about 168cm tall, while Madoka is roughly 155cm, and Ragna is 185cm.

So, about Dragalia Lost.

I will miss it. I will miss it so very much. This game has been my source of serotonin for such a long time with a roster of charming characters that actually grow into better people over the course of their stories, incredible designs that rank among the highest in my opinion, and a storyline that can be seamlessly turned into a show and I wouldn’t even be able to fucking tell if there were any changes. I’m not ready to say goodbye to Dragalia Lost, and I doubt I ever will. I don’t think any of us are ready. But in the last Dragalia Life entry, they do hint at a sequel. If there IS a sequel planned, I will be over the freaking moon. PLEASE. PLEASE NINTENDO GIVE US THE SEQUEL I BEG. I’ve seen other posts do this, thought it’d be fun. For characters I’ll miss, I’d say Euden, Elisanne and just about every single dragon this game has to offer. Those two because I see smth I will not be stating just incase someone puts a gun to my head on this site, but I still see smth. All the dragons because their interactions feel so funny to me. Big, powerful, ancient dragons talking about... butterflies. Yeah that’s good. Give me more of that.

You know, the castle story "That Which Remains" is very effective at wounding me emotionally. Specifically, what is shown developing and then dashed against the rocks without mercy.

That is, Euden's and Audric's relationship in particular.

Now, at this point Audric hasn't learned he's forcing his magical Alzheimer's to him specifically on everyone else. Sure, there's been some weird instances people where couldn't remember things about him, but in general he's been sticking around pretty consistently for relationships to form.

Especially with Euden, since Euden seems to have developed a pretty close relationship with Audric. They've been working together regularly and often enough that Euden is maintaining so much sentiment about Audric that he feels ill-at ease when Audric is away. Enough to feel a need to vocalize his more selfish desire that Audric could stay, which is something considering Euden's tendency to push down anything he views as 'selfish'. He holds Audric in very high regard enough to send him on complicated, delicate solo missions.

He even seems to have figured out or is piecing together that Audric is Aurelius. Euden's about to potentially get his father back in some form, even an otherworldly one. Euden might have been able to get some actual parental support from his dad that he's missed since Aurelius' abrupt death, and Audric might have been able to get some quality time with at least one of his kids. Being able to help guide the next generation and ease some of his guilt.

...But by the time he returns Euden has forgotten him outright.

Though he doesn't remember anything about Audric, there still seems to be something that's distressing Euden. He flees uncharacteristically, whether it be because he is having sudden concerns for his own health/memory or strong emotions lingering that he has no context for now.

Either way, to me it's a very sad idea that they were growing so close, only for Euden to forget it all because of Audric's... problems. It was so close to that little bit of happiness for the both of them, only for it to be dashed against the rocks. It also then seems to drive Audric to be more isolationist? As he accepts the idea that nobody is remembering him and that he deserves it, and then resolves more to take solace in actions that he's doing than forming any bonds since he knows they'll wither away just as soon. While he pretends to be fine with it, I'm sure it's still an emotional hardship that you can't form any meaningful relation with another and will be near-instantaneously forgotten as soon as you're gone.

To me, this exchange later in the main campaign almost sounds like Audric talking to himself, trying to stop himself from wallowing in the dream he would be remembered, and focusing on the actions he can take to effect change.

Even so, he's still trying to encourage Euden to remember something about their interactions, though he's accepted he himself won't be a part of them. He's trying to leave something behind to his son.

He's remembering what he once had with Euden, both his own and this world's Euden not all too long ago.

I think that's a huge part of Audric, aside from all that guilt and self-loathing: memories. As everyone else forgets, he remembers, and can only hope to use those memories for good to leave behind something.

Be it saving Euden from supposed-dead insects and their venom, or encouraging Emile to become a better ruler and person by using his memories of Emile as a guide to know what to say, to helping Nedrick understand that Euden and him needn't be enemies, Audric's- and Aurelius'- memories are what allow him to accomplish so much and influence his children on a better path.

And then, just after he dies, once and for all...

They might have started remembering.

This conversation is specifically noted to have occurred days after Audric died, which seems to fall greatly outside the range of time it normally took for people to forget Audric or details about him. But Euden and co still remember his existence, his identity, and his death.

Despite his constant affirmations that Audric knew he'd never leave behind anything of himself aside from any results of his actions, he might have left memories behind after all. It's just a shame his earlier bonds he had begun to form with Euden, old friends (Raemond) and new ones alike weren't able to survive beforehand.

Emile should get a redemption arc and he should be a staff unit. Walk with me.

1) He’s probably tried everything else already. He’s tried copying his siblings “specialties,” and failed. He’s probably tried every sort of weapon. I doubt someone as self-centered as him has tried healing people before. Also, he’s always called the “black sheep” of the royal family. None of the royal family (minus zethia but she’s kind of a special case bc she’s the auspex) have healing abilities. The closest is Phares, but his magic seems more “dnd wizard magic from study and knowledge” and “inhumane magic science experiments” than “controlling mana within yourself and nature.”

2) I think it would have a positive effect on him, in more ways than one. It’s a power strong enough and useful enough that it would improve his abysmal self-worth, but isn’t the kind of violent, easily abused power that would fuel a superiority complex, or allow him to kick people around. It would basically force him to earn respect through his actions, rather than let him force people to respect him through violence or threats.

3) if he does get a redemption arc (which I’m rly hoping for bc it rly seems like they’re setting up for one) I’m guessing a big part of it will be about trust, specifically earning the trust of people who you have hurt. And what better way to earn someone’s trust and respect than by healing them when they’re bleeding out on a battlefield? It would also earn him good rep among common folk that barely remember his existence.

4) I think it would be so fucking funny to watch this asshole of a man learn to be a good person bc life said “woe, power that you pretty much HAVE to use to help other people be upon ye”

Anyway emile redemption arc RIGHTS and I think giving him healing abilities would be an interesting choice that would open doors to a lot of growth for him. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

God, Emile turning out to be a HEALER of all things would be hysterical. It would also make sense for his talents to be entirely undiscovered, since the only person in the family that really practiced magic was Zethia. Phares........ yeah that’s a whole other can of worms. (I hope we get wind of what he’s up to soon; he’s been absent since 14.)

I really like this whole idea! Using the weapon type as a metaphor for his redemption arc.... chef’s kiss. To make it matter even in the meta, I imagine his Gala alt would have to have the best healing kit in the game, outstripping both Lowens, and THAT’S gonna be a hard hurdle to get over. Probably a water unit too, tying back to his dragonpact with Mercury and his relationship with Euden (the OG fire unit).

The narrative appeal of redeeming Emile is genuinely too good to pass up. It seems to me that the campaign is starting to expand on the siblings one by one, and you bet your ass I’m gonna scream when Emile is handed the baton.

Not gonna lie, when Lapis revealed herself from her Euden costume, I half expected Lapis to reveal that she also wanted him as a treasure and now Karina had to hunt down a kidnapped songstress and an heir. Kinda wish that happened now since Euden isn't typically the damsel in distress. Her being Bella too added to the fun of the fact that maybe the riddle was implying Euden the whole time but that is a little far fetched.
