hello peeps with sensory issues living in sunny countries, especially Australia and Aotearoa NZ.
do you avoid using sunscreen because it sets off your sensory sensitivities? me too!
just wanted to PSA as we head into summer that many Korean beauty brands have sunscreen that you can't feel, barely smell, and that is SPF 50. I use Etude House Sunprise on my face and it has changed my life. my wife favours the Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick, which is similarly unnoticeable. you can get them (in Australia at least) at k-beauty stores in person or online.
dermatologists do not rate moisturisers with SPF - you need a proper barrier. the ozone layer has been bad lately, and we are heading for a hot ass summer, so please be safe.

So the company that makes my foundation makeup, Alima Pure, is showing signs that they may be going under. They stopped making their setting powder, which sucks because it was fucking amazing. And now they've suddenly stopped shipping to Japan (they used to be sold in shops in Japan, but not anymore I guess).
So a heads up for everyone that uses them.
Now I have to find a foundation in Japan. Finding a foundation that's stupid levels of pale with a pink undertone instead of yellow, and no whitening? There's a reason I was willing to pay for shipping from the US for my foundation before now. Thankfully Korean makeup may have what I need, I'll just have to switch to a liquid foundation. Bleh. I prefer a good powder over a liquid primer, all over an insanely powerful sunscreen base.
I need to check if there's an Etude House shop in Osaka. I'll be there in a few weeks, and that would be the perfect time to check color range.

Unlock the Secrets to Glass Skin: A Simple Korean Skincare Routine Revealed!
In recent years, the Korean skincare routine has gained immense popularity worldwide, and for a good reason. Known for its effectiveness in achieving a flawless and radiant complexion, the Korean skincare routine is a step-by-step process that focuses on nourishing and hydrating the skin. One of the most sought-after results of this routine is the coveted "glass skin" look, characterized by a clear, luminous, and dewy complexion. This blog post will delve into the simple Korean skincare routine that can help you achieve glass skin and some recommended products to get you started.
Double Cleansing
Double cleansing is the first and most crucial step in any Korean skincare routine. This step involves using an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and excess sebum, followed by a water-based cleanser to cleanse the skin thoroughly. Recommended products for this step include the Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm and the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.
Exfoliation
Exfoliating your skin is essential to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, resulting in a smoother and brighter complexion. Opt for a gentle exfoliator like the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Pads or the Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off, which helps to unclog pores and reveal a fresh layer of skin.
Toner
Toning is a crucial step in the Korean skincare routine as it helps to balance the skin's pH level and prepare it for better absorption of subsequent products. Look for hydrating toners like the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner or the Son & Park Beauty Water, which boosts moisture and nourishes the skin.
Essence
Essences are lightweight, highly concentrated formulas that deliver hydration and nutrients deep into the skin. They are a vital component in achieving glass skin. Consider using the Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence or the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, both of which are known for their skin-rejuvenating properties.
Serum
Serums are potent formulations that target specific skin concerns, such as brightening, anti-aging, or acne. For glass skin, focus on serums that provide intense hydration and radiance. The Laneige Water Bank Hydro Essence or the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum are excellent choices to incorporate into your routine.
Moisturizer
Hydration is critical to achieving glass skin, so investing in a good moisturizer is essential. Look for lightweight, non-greasy options like the Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb or the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream, which provide long-lasting hydration without clogging pores.
Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is crucial for maintaining a youthful and healthy complexion. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, such as the Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk or the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence.
In Conclusion
By following this simple Korean skincare routine, you can be well on your way to achieving the coveted glass-skin look. Consistency is vital, so stick to your routine and be patient, as results may take time. Experiment with different products to find what works best for your skin type and concerns. Embrace the Korean skincare philosophy of nourishing and hydrating your skin, and you'll soon be flaunting a radiant and flawless complexion that will turn heads wherever you go.

Don't read this if you don't care about skincare lmao
I admit I'm a bit of a skincare snob (ive been on retinol for 2 or 3 years and I wear sunscreen almost every day the reason why it's almost and not actually everyday is cause I live in a basement and theres days where there's no sunlight getting in down here esp in winter) and the one thing that I was like this is too fussy even for me was toner
Anyways I just started using toner cause I just acquired some over time and I can't believe how much of a difference it did for me? A skincare YouTuber I follow (James Welsh) stands by using toner between each step of the routine which seemed overkill to me until this week I'm a believer now
I just always thought it was more for oily people but it's really cause i just never gave it a try
(I have very dry skin and I have been getting enough hydration and moisturization but the toner really just really softened my skin in a way I wasn't expecting. I'm using the soon jung ph 5.5 relief toner by etude house and I've had the same skincare routine for about a year now and it's winter in Chicago now so I decided to do a little extra something and it's really helped)

What is your favorite products that you recommend?
Hi. Thank you for your question! My absolute favorite moisturizer is the Etude House - Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream. I am already on my 5th bottle of this cream haha. It is really moisturizing and it makes my skin feel so soft. You can buy it on Amazon, Yesstyle, Stylevana, or the Etude House website.
I also really like the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotic SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreen. I bought it on Stylevana after seeing so many great reviews. I talk about it in my sunscreen post. It is my new favorite sunscreen.
Let me know if you check out these products and feel free to reach out again if you have any other questions. Hope this helps!

Hydrating vs. Moisturizing: The Keys to Nourishing Your Skin
When it comes to skincare, achieving a vibrant and healthy complexion requires more than just the basics like cleansing and sun protection. Two terms that frequently appear in the world of skincare are "hydrating" and "moisturizing." While they might seem similar, they serve distinct roles in nurturing your skin. Join us as we delve into the realms of hydration and moisturization to unveil their true significance.
Hydrating Your Skin: The Vital Quench
Hydration, as the name implies, revolves around water – the life-giving essence not only for your body but also for your skin. Hydrating your skin involves replenishing its water levels, ensuring it remains plump, flexible, and resilient. Water forms the bedrock of healthy skin, and proper hydration aids in preserving its natural functions.
The Importance of Hydration:
Visualize hydration as the drink your skin needs to remain refreshed. It's crucial for all skin types, even if you have oily skin. Deprivation of moisture can compromise your skin's protective barrier, rendering it susceptible to problems like dryness, flakiness, and heightened sensitivity. Hydrated skin also enhances the efficacy of other skincare products.
Ways to Hydrate:
Internal Hydration: The most straightforward approach to hydrating your skin is to maintain internal hydration by drinking an adequate amount of water daily.
Hydrating Skincare Formulas: Seek out products enriched with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera, and cucumber. These components attract and retain moisture, supplying your skin with a revitalizing surge. Try, ZealSea 2% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum or COSRX Propolis Ampoule, Glow Boosting Serum
Refreshing Facial Mists: Consider incorporating facial mists into your regimen, particularly in arid environments or during the day when your skin craves a quick revitalization. Try, La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, Face Mist or Caudalie Grape Water Organic Face Mist
Moisturizing Your Skin: The Protective Barrier
Moisturizing, on the other hand, involves establishing a safeguarding layer on the skin's surface to lock in moisture and counteract water loss. Moisturizers encompass a blend of components that not only uphold existing hydration but also act as a shield against external factors that contribute to dryness.
The Significance of Moisturization:
Think of moisturizing as adorning your skin with a shield against the elements. It sustains your skin's elasticity, guards against fine lines and wrinkles, and delivers a smoother, more uniform complexion. Even if your skin is inherently oily, the appropriate moisturizer can help harmonize its oil production.
Techniques for Moisturizing:
Selecting the Right Moisturizer: Opt for a moisturizer aligned with your skin type – whether it's a lightweight lotion, a rich cream, or a refreshing gel-based solution. Try, EltaMD AM Therapy Facial Moisturizer Lotion or Etude House SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream
Sealing in Moisture: Apply moisturizer subsequent to cleansing and applying serums. This act seals in hydration and active components from preceding steps. Try, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant
Sun Protection: Numerous moisturizers integrate SPF, furnishing an extra layer of defense against UV rays and environmental stresses. Try, Neutrogena Water Resistant and Non-Greasy SPF 70 Sunscreen Lotion or La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in Milk Body & Face Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 100
In essence, hydration and moisturization operate in synergy to fashion an optimal environment for healthy, luminous skin. Remember, well-hydrated skin serves as the canvas, and a commendable moisturizer serves as the protective frame, preserving your skin's exuberance. By fusing hydration and moisturization into your skincare regimen, you pave the way for a complexion that emanates health and well-being. So, embrace your water intake and indulge your skin with moisturizing care – your skin will undoubtedly appreciate the nourishment it receives.

etude house's sunprise mild sunscreen spf50+++ 🌥
finding sensory-okay skincare products has been a life-long journey. since i was a wee baby any sort of lotion or cream or balm has been a sort of a nightmare and has taken some getting used to even when not. as well as my autism-related sensory needs i also have very sensitive skin (allergic to everything and also eczema). sunscreen is probably THE hardest skin product to find-they usually always smell like banana or coconut for some reason? and tend to leave a sludgy white cast no matter how hard you rub. here enters my GOD TIER sunscreen, sunprise! it smells like nothing (as it should be)! it absorbs quite easily into the skin, and it does not make you look shiny. there's two different textures too so you can find the best one for you: watery and airy. airy is my fave at the minute but i would recommend either because honestly spf 50+++ and it feels creamy and delicious and light? 10/10
psa: everyone's sensory and accessibility needs are different but i think it's helpful to get recs from neurokin :) i found this recommendation through a youtube video by @yosamdysam and i have never looked back! my autistic flatmate also tried on the other day and was impressed!
ID: light blue background. a light green sunscreen bottle with a white cap is centered. it reads ETUDE sunsprise MILD watery light spf 50++++ PA++++ the design is very calm and relaxing.
