ONE ( NAME / ALIAS ): amanda TWO ( BIRTHDAY ): may 8th, but it was supposed to be april 25. i just refused to be evicted from casa del mom until i was two weeks late. THREE ( ZODIAC SIGN ): taurus! FOUR ( HEIGHT ): 5′2 FIVE ( HOBBIES ): knitting, especially socks and shawls. crochet - all kinds of things, but a lot of blankets and bags. bookbinding. spinning yarn with a drop spindle occasionally. doing the whole diy selfcare thing - i make sugar and salt scrubs and occasionally soap. dyeing yarn. listening to a lot of podcasts, especially true crime - i'm catching up with the trail went cold at the moment. practicing eclectic witch. i paint sometimes still. baking - i can't cook for shit but the only thing to ever defeat me baking is cheesecake. actually doing the whole self care thing - etude house’s my lash serum is a miracle in a tube. collecting bottled ink - my little collection has grown so much...i have a lot of hobbies. SIX ( FAVOURITE COLOUR(S) ): aqua blues and lime greens and cherry reds and silvers, but i've also become unreasonably attached to pastels at the moment. everything is pastel. SEVEN ( FAVOURITE BOOKS ): the tolkien legendarium - i do a yearly reread, and i'm currently in the middle of the hobbit atm. EIGHT ( LAST SONG LISTENED TO: ): otis redding; cigarettes and coffee NINE ( LAST FILM WATCHED ): uuuuuuh, i honestly don't remember? i thiiiink it was civil war. i think. TEN ( INSPIRATION FOR MUSE ): i mean, the comics, obviously. and the mcu. but music is actually the biggest driving point for getting tony to cooperate. ELEVEN ( DREAM JOB ): with that whole pirate historian gig i'm kinda well on my way to it, hey? TWELVE ( MEANING BEHIND YOUR URL ): shellhead's an old, old nickname for iron man. like spanning back to the beginnings of classic marvel old. it still gets used today here and there but not nearly enough, honestly, it's one of my favorites for him. anyway, i had another canon url but it didn't sit right, considering my issues with the new iron man run and me being such an old comics stan, so here we are.

Hi! I have a question about your skincare routine, if you don’t mind. Do you use a face mask every day/night? Also I’m going to try that coffee mask. It sounds great (plus it’s vegan), so hopefully it will work out for my skin!

i use a charcoal+black sugar scrub mask almost every day (only once in the morning! i just use micellar water and my toner at night) and i use the coffee mask every now and then!! yess their coffee mask is great! def get the smaller one and try it out! 💌

mabel’s makeup/skincare must-haves!

let me preface this by saying i am in no terms a makeup expert and until recently basically all of my makeup was drugstore. these are just the products i really like!

makeup:

pixi’s shea butter lip balm in clear - this is incredibly hydrating and absolutely fantastic

eos lip balm in sweet mint - the only product i’ve found comparable to pixi’s shea butter lip balm, and less expensive

zoeva’s eyeshadow fix pearl - i have like no experience with any other primers because i’m a gremlin who learned how to use makeup two years ago and this is the only one i’ve tried, but i absolutely love this stuff. i use it even when i’m not wearing eyeshadow for a nice, subtle look (and it smells like coconut!)

etude house’s my lash serum - i put this on every night before bed and before my mascara for a little boost and it is fantastic. the next day after using it i noticed how much nicer my lashes looked, and it’s incredibly affordable

besame 1970 chocolate kiss - i wear this lipstick every single day. it’s my all time favorite and my ultimate go to. my skin is very fair so it looks like a chocolatey red on me, but depending on your skin tone it can look anywhere from red to chocolate to nude. i cannot recommend this enough. it’s incredibly smooth and very long lasting, even with how much i lick my lips

the balm’s autobalm face palette in california - this palette is about the size of a driver’s licence and i always carry it in my purse for doing makeup on the go

too faced’s sweet peach palette - i know everyone and their grandmother has been talking about this palette, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. i got this palette for chanukah this year and with the exception of candied peach, which sadly just doesn’t apply well, every single color is amazing. my personal favorites from this palette are luscious, cobbler, carmelized, summer yum, bellini, and talk derby to me

if you can get your hands on too faced’s limited edition grande hotel cafe set, do it. this set was released for christmas, and while normally my bitter jewish self hates anything christmas themed, this set is a definite must have for me (and it smells fantastic)

the body shop’s the sparkler in gold - i totally have a flair for the dramatics and this is the perfect glitter to accompany it. i use it with just about everything, whether i’m using it as eyeshadow, highlight, or just an overall dusting of glitter

essie’s aim to misbehave - if you’ve spent 5 minutes on my blog you know how much i love the color yellow. this polish is by far the best yellow polish i’ve found. it’s opaque in two to three coats and just looks gorgeous. i like to top this off with some of essie’s a cut above and sally hansen’s perky pink

if you love yellow as much as i do, i highly recommend sally henson’s lemon heaven miracle gel. i bought it towards the end of its run and kroger had a sticker on it saying it was for sale cos they needed to get rid of it, but i absolutely love the stuff. it’s a very nice pale yellow and it looks so cute with a coat of perky pink on top

skincare/haircare/perfume:

pixi’s glow tonic - i apply this every morning and every night and it works as a fantastic exfoliator

pixi’s glow mud cleanser - i use this right after using the glow tonic and it makes my skin so smooth

lush’s ultrabland facial cleanser - like all of lush’s products, ultrabland is incredibly gentle on the skin

lush’s charity pot hand and body lotion - their charity pot has a really gentle scent to it, so if you’re big on perfume it definitely won’t overpower it. i especially love this lotion because 100% of the proceeds are donated to grassroot charities working on environmental, human rights, and animal protection issues

l’occitane’s shea butter handcream - definitely expensive, but this is one of my favorite splurges. i live in north carolina where it’s incredibly humid year round, but my hands still tend to dry out a bit and this handcream is wonderful. i always keep a small tube in my purse

crabtree & evelyn’s gardeners handcream - just like l’occitane’s, this is on the expensive side but is incredibly hydrating

lush’s olive branch shower gel - i first tried this last december when i got it in lush’s chanukah gift box and absolutely fell in love. it’s got a very nice citrusy scent and contains olive oil to keep your skin from drying out

lush’s soak and float shampoo bar - i’ve got terrible dandruff and this shampoo bar is fantastic. it helps with my dandruff while not drying my hair out too much

lush’s all good things solid perfume - like chocolate kiss, i wear this perfume every single day. i keep it in my coat pocket so i can apply it, and the fact that it’s a solid perfume means it’s extremely portable so i don’t have to worry about it loosing it’s scent throughout the day. it also smells exactly like soak and float

tonymoly’s anti aging peach hand cream - i’ve only had this product for about a week, but i absolutely love it. the peach shaped container it comes in is absolutely adorable and it smells so nice

neutrogena’s clear face sunscreen - i’m incredibly white, and therefore incredibly susceptible to both sunburns and acne. this is the only product i’ve found that doesn’t clog up my pores and feels just like regular lotion

also, i highly recommend using lip scrub, but whatever you do don’t buy it from a store! you can make your own at home with sugar and olive oil or coconut oil, and if you want you can add extracts to give it some more flavor (mine has cocoa powder and peppermint extract to imitate lush’s mint juleps lip scrub). same goes for body scrubs - i make mine with brown sugar, used coffee grounds, and a little bit of coconut or olive oil
