Robin puts the phone back to her ear and says a cordial goodbye to whoever was on the other line, and then she hangs up and tries to gesture in your direction.
"I will say, I like her better than the grumpy one you had a crush on at---"
"Steve!" Robin cuts him off, and he rests his hip against the desk to cross his foot over his ankle. "Your 4:00 is here."
You notice him visibly stiffen, head snapping in your direction, but then his face softens, a sincere smile warming all the way to his eyes. A few more swipes of his hand through his hair for good luck.
You hug your coat tighter and introduce yourself.
Steve's cheeks flush pink from embarrassment, and he extends his arm for a firm, comforting handshake. He notices that your eyes are puffy, most likely from crying and lack of sleep, mascara smudged at the corners.
He leans in with a soft pat to your arm. "Now, let's give your husband something to cry about."

Now, through data comparison, we can find that there is a difference in DAU growth rate between Taobao and Pinduoduo. So, what are the reasons behind the difference? What changes are likely to occur in the battle between e-commerce platforms in the future? Let’s take a look at the interpretation and analysis of this article.
"Pinduoduo's DAU growth HE Tuber rate fell by as much as 20%. In comparison, Taobao grew by 7 points." Goldman Sachs' latest report data was like a thunderbolt, stimulating the entire market.
You know, in the bleak first quarter, Pinduoduo, which focuses on cheap prices, ranks first among China Concepts and is a consumer-downgraded concept stock.
Today's situation is somewhat contrary to market consensus.
But in fact, the user trend in the e-commerce industry has lasted for half a year. As shown in the figure below, the user growth gap between Taobao and Pinduoduo has been widening.

It is so insane to me that dark skin people get shafted in the beauty commercial space because fuckin. Imo dark skin is just so so so beautiful generally ofc but in editorials??? oh my fucking GODDDDD!!!!!! You can do so much .. colors POP and the contrast is stunning.. foundations/concealers etc for dark skinned people are so hard to come by in less expensive formulas and i have not seen a commonly stocked drug store shade darker than zendaya it’s a fucking travesty! Juvia’s place is great but i wouldn’t call that drug store prices and the shades run warm-toned.. like go into ulta or sephora and even fenty doesnt run THAT deep for rihanna to get all that credit to this day (i get she kicked the other brands’ asses into gear upon launch but since then i feel like a lot of her products are mid..) . i think the deepest ive seen is estee lauder? Maybe haus labs idk. Dont get me fucking started on concealer.

theres so much i need to say . . oh my god. but if i don't start, i will never post on here. and i love using this as my virtual diary so . . time to make a really long post about my life.
🎓 i've been really dedicated to my studies. i'm currently an upper junior ( 89 credits ) and when i tell you, i LOVE this part of my academic career. ever since i had my six month long internship experience, i’ve been making strides to figure out what path i want in my future career. and becoming an honors student, would help me a lot. i have my schedule picked out for the spring semester and the electives that i have picked are wonderful. i picked the introductory course for the cybercrime minor and beginner swimming! the work that i did at my internship made such an impact on me that i'm adopting the cybercrime minor to stop those who commit things like securities fraud.
🍽 i have been eating out a whole bunch. recently i’ve been addicted to raw marinated crab ( yangnyeom gejang ) from BCD tofu house. from the spice is perfect and the texture of the meat is like butter. it’s so damn delicious. i posted it on my spam page on instagram & one of my close friends told me that she wanted to try it because it looked so good. the very next day i saw her story and BAM! SHE WAS THERE OMG. food has always been a love language for me. theres just something so beautiful in sharing food that you love with people you cherish. like WOW! i've also been addicted to the spicy tuna from joe and the juice. it’s so good until they tried to kill me because they accidentally placed avocado in my sandwich. 
🌿 i’ve never decorated my room. i think it stems from the instability i had in my childhood. i constantly moved but i think that this is my time to express myself. i need a few items before i start my decorating experience. i also am starting the experience to build my own pc. i am making an all white build to match my desk. i can't wait to get the full sims experience because my macbook feels like it want catch on fire & explode when i attempt to play.
🍣 i had a phone interview for estee lauder for their summer internship. the pay is around thirty dollars an hour. i think it went fairly well. i hope i get that internship. though i have another in my back pocket, the air force civilian service has one that would benefit me in the long-term.
🍔 i’ve been allowing myself to dress in a way that doesn’t hide myself. this was the first section of my life where i am not hiding myself in any way i could. giant shirts, giant pants, dark stockings under dresses that didn't require that. i’m finally starting to love my body & stop trying to force myself to look a way that i am not. i am so much more comfortable with myself. i'm such a girly girl and i am LOVING it.
🐌 i think i am going to buy a physical planner, i love notion but i need some way to sit down and write about my life that can be accessed at any point. i think writing might be therapuetic. i recently have been doing really dedicated skincare as a form of personal therapy but i want to dabble in order things.

When I cleaned my room, I realized I had bought a lot of unnecessary makeup, especially lipstick, during the pandemic. They are stocked in the corner of my room, and I never really used them. This makes me ponder my behavior: does it just happen to me or everyone else? After reading the statistics report, I realized this is a general trend in the whole market. And here comes our topic: the Lipstick Effect.
The Lipstick Effect refers to the phenomenon where people tend to spend money on small luxuries, such as cosmetics, during times of economic crisis. During these periods, people may not be able to afford larger purchases, but they still want to indulge in small pleasures to make themselves feel better. This term was first proposed by economics and sociology Professor Juliet Schor in her 1998 book The Overspent American. Leonard Lauder, the Estee Lauder chairman, stated in 2001 that his company encountered a surge in lipstick sales following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and he reiterated this message during the 2008 recession.
Throughout history, lipstick sales have performed better during economic slowdowns (whether due to coincidental correlations or substantial underlying psychological and economic factors). For instance, over the last decade, lipstick sales had generally lagged behind the beauty and personal care industry, except during the 2000 slowdown when they experienced a surge. The reason behind this trend is the income effect: for inferior goods, such as lipsticks, rising consumer income decreases demand and vice versa. Specifically, when consumers experience a decline in their earnings, they are likely to abandon purchasing expensive luxury goods that are no longer affordable and instead allocate their income to buy smaller, less costly luxury items.
Similarly, the Lipstick Effect also happened during the coronavirus pandemic. According to recent data from the NPD Group— a global market tracking firm— lipsticks and other lip makeup sales increased by 48% in the first quarter compared to the previous year. This growth rate is more than double that of other products in the beauty category.

The theory behind the lipstick effect emphasizes the importance of affordability as defined by the consumer, creating lucrative opportunities for manufacturers and distributors. Moreover, the concept itself is relevant to other aspects of life, as it taps into consumers' desire to indulge in small luxuries that make life more enjoyable. Since the market in my mother’s town is larger, she is still able to purchase her merchandise in person but the market for Clarins in my town is not popular like MAC, Lancome, and Estee Lauder they stopped selling it in stores. If I wanted to continue using Clarins I had 2 options, go to another town and purchase or order it online. I decided to start buying my products online and now it is my preferable purchasing method. This is convenient as I do not need to order just from just one retailer as I can also order it directly from Clarins and it gets delivered directly to my door. Also, when ordering online through a retailer or through Clarins I get product variety that I did not always get in-person.
