as much as i’ve been enjoying reading the murderbot series it’s often really hard to read a book when the author doesn’t seem to have much faith in their audience’s ability to remember something that was explained to them less than 100 pages ago

#maybe i just can't read YA anymore. is that the problem here #i'm trying not to be uncharitable.... i keep thinking i'd like it more if it wasn't YA #i mean. its not listed as YA but it reads like YA #then again it already does kind of read like a knock-off imperial radch anyway #so far my complaints have been that the books are too short. #especially book one... i feel like it sorely needed more space for secunit to breathe with the survey team #not least because they come back for multiple books #and since secunit has such a strong connection to them... #i was looking forward to book 6 since it's longer than all the others #but the author just keeps putting in explanations for things they've already explained earlier in the Same Book #for Entire Paragraphs #and it's frustrating. #ANYWAY
