Practising Goncharov Theme by @caramiaaddio on violin bc I thought it would add an extra layer of haunting…ness (is that a word?)
Here’s the excerpt I’m playing in the video:
Despite it being in a fuck off key for violin it is a really beautiful piece and it’s absolutely worth the trouble of practising in second position (world’s most hated position) and I’m HOPING 🤞 I can record and (maybe) post a full cover of it someday
i think some of you need to sit down and interrogate why you dislike sabina so much because from where i’m sitting a lot of it is just thinly veiled misogyny. you don’t have to ship her with alex and you don’t have to like her but i’m so tired of people treating her as nothing more than an obstacle to their ship of choice and then trying to shift the blame onto horowitz for writing her poorly when there are literally dozens of male side characters who we know nothing about that get more fandom attention than sabina does. she’s not some evil irredeemable wench for struggling to support alex after the events of eagle strike. she’s a fifteen year old girl whose entire life was upended and has to watch someone she cares about be blackmailed into putting himself in danger again and again. if you can forgive yassen for sending alex to scorpia or k-unit for treating him like shit in brecon beacons, why can’t you forgive sabina for pulling away and trying to live a normal life. you can find her annoying or boring or pointless as a character, but alex very clearly cares about her. acting like he doesn’t says more about your attitudes towards female characters than it does horowitz’s lol
You know, I'm glad that some of us take the step to embrace things that we like even if they're "cringe" or "objectively bad"
But perhaps we could take the next step forward and embrace the idea of reading into books/shows/movies/etc even if they don't seem deep. Perhaps we could understand that the two kinds of media aren't either "shallow and meaningless so you're weird and brainrotted to read into it" or "incredibly and profoundly deep in every way so if you don't analyze every single angle of the thing then you're brainrotted". Some media is deeper than others, but all I propose is that no matter how deep it seems it's acceptable to dig into the thing and take the media seriously instead of just assuming that because of ____ thing (such as target audience or how cringe it is) the media not deep and will never be deep and everything good about it happened on accident.
The HORROR of hearing your little five-year-old voice singing awkwardly along to a pristine backing track because your dad was just dying to shove you in front of a mic and produce a song as soon as you could enunciate words semi-intelligibly.
I go on pinterest. I find godawful takes about bungou stray dogs. I leave a comment with evidence that supports otherwise for the most absurd takes. I leave pinterest.
btw you know what's kind of weird about ai art? it was supposed to be the scientific discovery of the decade, the kind of thing you'd see in newspapers for weeks, but instead it was an annoying twitter trend led by the worst people on earth, tons of apps to make your face look like an anime or a disney character appeared out of nowhere, the internet became kind of useless with all the written ai articles and ai images infesting searches, and also bigots are using it to make really bad political propaganda. like if you had told me ten years ago we would have machines making art i would have never guessed it would be this big of a letdown
Does anyone have nice Volo content? I'm having a very bad mental health week for some reason and i've come to discover Volo is one of my comfort characters, along with Ingo and a few others. However as you may have noticed most of the content about him villanizes him and has other people take revenge on him. I have nothing against the people who choose to characterize him this way, but you might understand that it's really depressing when your comfort character just suffers or causes suffering in every piece of media you consume. I've even been triggered by some of the more villanous takes on him (ao3 authors, please chill out with Those Takes) and it left me worse off than before.
I've had to settled for Ingo content, which is always good, but again if the content that helps me cope also makes me feel worse by pitting two of my favourite characters against each other it's not really going to accompliah anything.
Anyway yeah i needed to get that off my chest. If anyone has any good volo fic recommandations, or any recommandations at all for nice fics (or even just art, comics. A picture of your pet. Really i'll settle for anything) send them to me or reblog them here.
my mom’s been reading a book lately that has a lot to do with mental illness, and she was telling me about it this afternoon and about how the author is urging people and especially Christians to understand the difference between spiritual counseling and mental health counseling and to seek the appropriate help in specific circumstances they may be facing—
which of course prompted me to go on a whole spiel about my opinion that the mind body and soul are all parts of one cohesive whole and should be treated as such and how much it rubs me the wrong way when I hear people start saying things like ‘well xyz is a sin problem and should be dealt with by praying and reading your Bible more’ when REALLY sin itself is also a multi-faceted concept that encompasses ALL areas of that mind-body-soul union and different remedies must be sought for sins effecting different areas of one’s life and person
