And they called off the circus, burned the disco down
When they sent home the horses and the rodeo clowns
I'm still on that tightrope
I'm still trying everything to get you laughing at me
And I'm still a believer, but I don't know why
I've never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try
I'm still on that trapeze I'm still trying everything to keep you looking at me
edit because i've had to block people: if you support jeremy renner dni. thank you/srs

Hey. I have to know. Can loud music damage my hearing? My ears are always ringing.
Maybe get that checked out? I’ve always been partially deaf then the sonic arrow got rid of what was left so I wouldn’t really know.

Just Dick watching Jason and Tim discuss Tim's boyfriend and quietly grateful no one's asking about his love life. Don't mind him.

it's such a good one, it's so *chews arm* with nat id'ing phil's ptsd. maria's commnd. phil and nick. nat and jess. maria sendding clint to retrieve phil (the hug). jess and vlad. everything bout it.
YES ALL OF THIS. CLINT AND PHIL'S HUG IN THE RAIN 😭 Jess and Nat bonding is everything, I love this bit in particular:

Nat working through Her Own Stuff™️ so fast in the moment to make the split second decision to trust Jess. Jess proving Nat's trust in her was well placed and hauling ass to deck Derrida. ( How Jess continues to save "reality as we know it" by talking to Vladimir just moments later. )
And to top it off, Nat reacting with a good old casual ⸺

What do you think your life would be like if you had never left the circus?
Tumblr media
That's a question he wonders; it's one of the few questions he avoided. Answer easiest found at the bottom of the bottle and confessing it's a stupid question, he doesn't know or he could know if he'd have hopped to another dimension, another Earth. The multiverse exists, so there's a definite answer isn't there?
He doesn't really want to debate that answer; leave that to Wanda and Stephen. In fact, he thinks he already may know that because Wanda's twisted reality, brought him from the dead and put him someone else, another life. There's glimpses, pieces, wonders if that him was him, or a different Clint who lived a different life.
Tumblr media
❝ Shit, buy a guy a drink first. ❞ Not that he drinks anymore, but he knows an answer. He wonders, he does wonder and think about what it would be like. ❝ Yeah, I've thought about that. I don't think anyone would like that guy. ❞ That's the conclusion that he has come to, that he had to be the better version of whoever he could have ended up to be if his childhood wasn't different.
❝ I would still be a criminal; when I ran away to the circus I ended up in bad crowds; sure, there may be circus folk that are honest, good people but I didn't end up there. My lot were scammers and con artists, outsiders. If I never left, I'd be so full of myself, I'd be the next Swordsman or Trickshot. I'd be thinking about where we could steal from next, what we could get away with. Bigger, more. That's how men fall. ❞ They thought themselves better then him, thought themselves masters and that's the men who ruled over him, trained him. Once he'd have wanted to be like them, but he wouldn't make him a good guy.

@parameddic liked this for a starter (accepting!)
There'd been a rumor going around that an Avenger was among them. Clint wasn't sure who had started it, or even when it'd started, but he'd finally caught wind of it, and it had his stomach filling with dread. Based off of the speculations he'd heard, people were looking for one of the bigger ones—he'd been hearing either Cap or Thor, Tony apparently (definitely) would've made himself known, by now—but it was only a matter of time before someone recognized him. And then what was he supposed to do?
He was tired and sore (his own injuries having protested everything he did, the entire day long), slouched back on a sofa in a little common area, a couple of icepacks easing away some of the pain as his head spun with his concerns. Was this going to take attention away from the disaster and its victims themselves? Had the news outlets covering the disaster heard the rumor yet? Had he royally futzed up by coming to help in the first place? Was he making a big deal out of nothing, because, once people figured out it was just him, they wouldn't care anymore? Or did who he was even matter, because he was an Avenger and therefore, what, a celebrity, or something? Should he leave before someone did recognize him?
Clint groaned. He needed Natasha. He needed Coulson. He needed a second opinion. Cracking an eye open, he spotted TK walking by with just perfect timing. "Hey, TK! Come here a sec?" He pulled an icepack off his head and sat up fully, trying not to wince. "You hear about this whole Avenger thing? What do you think about it?" Was Clint overreacting? Was everything actually fine and this was just his overinflated ego talking?
