Rahuvian Fashion & Style pt 2

Earlier, I made a post about Rahuvian Fashion & Style and this is part 2 of that. Rahu influence makes a native drawn to very flashy, loud, colourful style. Obviously, how we channel our style depends on many different aspects and most people probably have a style that is an amalgamation of several different influences. But looking at Rahu influence in isolation, I have noticed that it makes its natives favour a mix-match-y, eclectic, bold style. Rahu & Ketu are opposites even though they're both shadow planets. They're the head and the torso respectively. Rahu favours a very hyper & loud style but Ketu is the opposite and I've noticed Ketuvians preferring to wear all black, or darker colors in general and have a super nondescript style. Ex: Jungkook, Magha Moon & Mula Rising who pretty much exclusively wears black and has a relatively simple style.

A major feature of Rahuvian style is how these natives like to pair seemingly random elements together. Y2K style is very Rahuvian for this reason.

this post about lesbian divas rlly delighted me. it's fun to see this niche topic talked about and expanded on with lots of examples. soooo i compiled all the responses as of 21/09/23 10:30pm EST and put them in a spreadsheet. then ranked them by how much of a diva i consider them lol

first off, the general list. i found 152 unique responses in the replies, tags, and comments. some were only first names so i didnt bother researching into who the poster was talking about. images for ease of viewing:

second... what is a diva?? clarifying where im coming from is important to understand my upcoming opinions. i should make clear that im talking about DIVAS as in DIVA WORSHIP as in LIZA MINNELLI-BARBRA STREISAND-BETTE DAVIS-LADY GAGA etcetera. dykes can see these female celebs as divas as well, but what the original post touches on is the male diva.

this rthko ask explains the diva well. you should also take a look at scholarly articles and books -- divas have been a part of recorded gay culture and esp gay male culture and drag queen culture forever -- the term isnt concrete. rthko says that "there's no real formula" but lists these typical features of a diva:

larger than life -- glam, humor, charisma? would a drag queen impersonate them?

theatrical / proximity to theatre

sexy / horny -- rthko notes here that these arent requirements, citing liza's lack of sexual overtness

strength

niche -- can be popular but not a general crowd-pleaser

gay rights supporter -- before it was cool

now rthko is talking about female divas, even noting the blind spot for bi/lesbian fans and artists. i say you can apply the same features to male celebrities to identify the male divas dykes idolize. i should note that some of the ppl on the list are women or genderqueer. so the list is not entirely male.

another note: im putting so much emphasis on DIVAHOOD because it's SUCH a specific term. not all icons, "weird little guys", "blorbos" are divas. one thing rthko doesn't touch on is how a diva often has a strong sense of self that the devotee can identify and want to emulate -- at the xtreme, leads to drag art. if they dont inspire and amaze, then are they a diva?

lets get into part 3: which of these 152 people / concepts / groups are honest to god divas? you can argue they're all Icons to some extent (the bare minimum being having a lesbian fanbase) but do they have what rthko and i (and gay culture researchers) consider to be the features of a diva?

first thing i did identify those i both recognized and "saw divahood within". ended up with 44:

then i shrunk down the list even further to 18 (again, pure opinion):

then i ranked the 44 more methodically by mapping out the 7 features of the diva:

this ranking is not definite -- though i tried to be fair, considering the limits to what i know, it is subjective

i dont know the histories of some of these people, so i may be missing some things. an inverse example: i know far too much about gerard way, so i had a good idea of how he fit into each feature

some of these i couldnt decide whether i should check or not. al pacino i was esp worried about... couldnt justify checking those boxes the way i can for other people

either way, my findings yielded interesting results! 3 of the most commonly talked about singer-songwriters (bruce, bob, johnny) ranked low. this may indicate that there's other features to the male diva that arent specified or dont apply to females divas / gay male devotees. perhaps defined gender expression, or “voice for lesbians”, or something else.

all of the people with a score of 4 or more can be emulated. "sex" (meaning overt sexuality) is the least common feature, after "theatrical".

though anyone can be a diva to anyone, there's a certain "canon" of who is a diva in gay circles. liza barbra bette gaga. this messy qualitative approach is an attempt to figure that out for dyke divas. i would love to talk about it more.

the difference between cap & aqua moons: i saw a post on here abt how cap moons have a cold exterior but are actually very in-tune w their emotions, while aqua moons have an exterior that makes them seem more open and friendly, but they are actually quite emotionally detached (more so than cap moons). bc aqua moons will unconsciously try to rationalize their emotions instead of just feeling them. whereas a cap moon will feel them, and then consciously suppress them…

i just wanna say that i 100% agree and i would even take it a step further by saying that aquarius moons tend to externalize whereas capricorn moons tend to internalize.

a cap moon usually relates every emotional experience to themselves in some way & can be much more prone to thinking they are the reason certain things keep happening (even if something literally isn’t even their fault). they won’t stop until they’ve found out exactly what the cause is (mars), even if they have to accept that maybe they are the cause and that they’re just ‘defective’ or ‘broken’ somehow (saturn). they’ll search inside themselves forever for answers bc they want to understand the roles they play in the experiences they’ve had…. this can become toxic bc a cap moon can start to over-identify as defective or inferior.

an aqua moon may have a harder time understanding roles they’ve played in hurting themselves/others bc they’ll never fully apologize for being themselves. doing internal work for a aqua moon can feel like they’re stripping themselves of their own identity, bc so much of what they do is driven by the need to act out how they feel instead of simply feeling it (uranus)…. this can become toxic bc aqua moons can tend to over-identify with distancing themselves from their emotions.

for those that don’t fully understand the difference between an internalizer and an externalizer:

internalizer: gets drunk -> cries | (cap moons)

externalizer: gets drunk -> goes to a rave -> flashes a police officer at 3 AM -> goes to jail -> then cries | (aqua moons)

same ending, just different journeys lol.

i also saw a post on here abt how cap & scorpio moons can come across people trying to control their emotions, and i would like to add creativity as well! (creativity and emotions both stemming from divine feminine energy of course)

if you’re a cap or scorpio moon creative, then it is likely that people will try to influence or manipulate how you express your creativity AND/OR they will be extremely judgmental & opinionated about it. there’s just something characteristically different abt how these natives emote. most ppl just don’t initially ‘get’ what these natives are about until they’re already insanely popular (lady gaga, jaden smith, frank ocean, cher, beyoncé, & kylie jenner).

lady gaga: relentlessly bullied in school, was told for years that she was too unattractive to be an actress, was dropped from her first record deal for being too different. her first 2-3 years of mainstream exposure were characterized by tons of media scrutiny. people even going so far as suspecting she was secretly a man/amab. (scorpio moon) ☆

jaden smith: allegedly forced into being a child actor, despite always having a passion for music. even now after having released music, many do not appreciate his musical style. has a history of being ridiculed on the internet for his ‘odd’ tweets, unfiltered thoughts, & gender-bending fashion style. one of the first men (esp Black men) to publicly endorse gender fluidity. remember his 2016 Vogue Korea shoot [+ the controversy that came with it]? (cap moon) ☆

frank ocean: his unconventional style & sound made him a record label pariah. his mixtape success landed him a record deal in 2011, which later spawned Channel Orange. unfortunately, his record label dealings ended abruptly & discordantly… most likely due to creative differences. (cap moon) ☆

cher: i don’t know too much about the struggles she faced in the industry, but one thing i do know is that cher’s style is both unique & vastly different from any of her contemporaries. she represents & embodies female autonomy in a male-dominated industry, once holding the title of female artist with the most number one singles in the US. she successfully left folk rock, crossed over into disco, & then crossed over into dance pop. not to mention her numerous television & film achievements, including an academy award. she, without a doubt, is a trailblazer and has one of the most diverse and longest-lasting careers in music. (cap moon) ☆

beyoncé: many of y’all may be too young to remember but beyoncé was once considered an underdog… she was portrayed as a the diva that caused the collapse of destiny’s child & was subject to a lot of media scrutiny, everything from her personality to her weight. when she finished her debut album, she played it for her label who proceeded to tell her that it had 0 hits. upon release, her debut album spawned 4 top 5 singles, two of which went #1. she had the biggest song of 2003 & won 5 grammy awards for this project alone. even now, ppl still debate whether she deserves to be called a legend. (scorpio moon) ☆

kylie jenner: ridiculed for her looks & unconventional style, she was considered the black sheep of the kardashian clan. her passion for makeup unexpectedly took the world by storm, eventually making her the wealthiest kardashian-jenner. she undoubtedly inspired the movement of celebrity-owned makeup brands/cosmetics. (scorpio moon) ☆

i’ve noticed that there are quite a few mixed race people who have libra placements, particularly libra suns/moons. libra is the negotiator, the mediator, the blend of extremes. its nature as the balance-scale explores the beauty & wonder of undefined boundaries & labels… in the way it’s similar to aquarius, except libra is cardinal air, and defies those boundaries first by merely existing. aquarius, fixed air, then takes it a step further by willfully exploring & then defying said boundaries. there’s an innocence with libra… libra is the kid who breaks the rules on accident bc they just didn’t know better. aquarius is hyper-aware of the rules & thus chooses to rebel.

i’ve noticed that a lot of taurus placements (esp. suns) really struggle to grasp that their actions can negatively impact other people. it’s hard for them to sympathize with people that they’ve hurt bc they didn’t do it ‘intentionally.’ i think like cancer, taurus focuses a lot on intention… but the average cancer will still apologize if you express to them that you were hurt by something they did. even an evolved taurus can struggle with apologizing and/or taking that kind of accountability (e.g. they might do it sometimes, but most of the time it will be challenging for them to do). they’re much more likely to say something like, “well i didn’t mean it like that, so you shouldn’t have taken it that way.” [also i’ve noticed that a lot of y’all think that saying the words, “i’m sorry” is enough to get back in people’s good graces… um no. some people still won’t wanna fwu even after you apologize. taurus suns esp. can just be kinda naive like that].

[beyoncé, a libra rising, getting into a scandal abt pregnancy (torso), torsos also being represented by the 6H]

there was a youtube video posted on oct. 11, 2011 which seemed to be the first to break the news abt beyoncé’s seemingly ‘fake’ baby bump. the sun was in libra and the moon was in aries (elemental opposites but the moon was still in the waxing gibbous phase). according to astro-seek.com, the sun (exposure) would have been in beyoncé’s 12H (secrets), in the same house as her 12H jupiter (growth of a secret?) & 12H saturn (hardship/karma related to a secret?)… all opposite her 6H (work/business) & she was “exposed” while working/doing interviews.

the next day, oct. 12 2011, would have been the full moon, which no doubt influenced the creation of the controversy (full moons representing upheavals and unexpected drama). on this day, the full moon would have highlighted beyoncé’s 6H & 12H. the sun would have been in her 12H, close to her ascendant. the moon would have been directly opposite in her 6H, close to descendant (descendants representing our shadow side)… on this day, could her shadow side (dsc) have made make contact w her public persona (asc), with the libra sun & aries moon both sharing the same sky? by the end of the day, the moon would have crossed into her 7H (relationships)… a 7H aries moon transit could represent ire/discord inside relationships… maybe her relationship with her fans as the rumors continued to spread? that + the sun in libra would eventually make contact w her 1H pluto in the days following… possibly indicating a scandal that lingers & affects her public image.

now this is all just observation for the love of astrology but i have to say that i did not expect the astrology to support something widely regarded to be a conspiracy. i’m not saying that the astrology proves or disproves the conspiracy, but what i do find interesting is that it definitely provides insight abt why the rumor became so gigantic… and may even suggest that there’s more to the story than meets the eye with the 12H energy involved (esp sun in the 12H). personally, i always thought it was a possibility that beyoncé never carried her first child (which is totally ok), that video was just too suspicious for my young mind. and i can’t speak for anyone else but the situation did make me look at her differently for a while (not bc of possible surrogacy, but the not owning up to it), BUT, despite all that…. what are the odds that a libra rising would get into a scandal related to a torso?? on an aries full moon no less… gotta love astrology!

oh like music?? umm i love the killers sooo much and alt/pop/rock bands in general so arctic monkeys (esp their early stuff), the cranberries, foo fighters, youngblood hawke, the smiths, black pumas, the antlers. those kinds of bands.

when it comes to pop girlies i love shakira and lady gaga. ive got a crush on dua lipa so def her too.

ksxjsodkwkkd i have had a post abt their music tastes sitting in my drafts for months so i will just share that!! my own music is kind of limited bc i just listen to the same stuff over & over (bc neurodivergent™️) so!! my apolocheese for this not being as super in depth for some of the gang vs others. i am also open to suggestions ;_; a couple of these were from me talking with a pal, mainly astrid & fishlegs (@despiteherself hiiiii!!!!)

hiccup: lots of indie stuff, leaning more towards indie folk!! he likes anything rlly with strings involved. he's a dragonboy horsegirl at heart & wants to imagine riding through the air with winds blowing through his hair & wistfully wishing he could have a different life. he does listen to indie pop, too. he liked glass animals before they were popular & wants everyone to know it. also loves woodkid.

astrid: she has 5 songs she listens to & they were just songs ppl recommended to her. she only goes out of her way to listen to music if she's at the gym & doesn't want to talk to anyone (if snotlout is there it does not work </3) tuffnut told her "you should listen to mac miller" & she picked a single song & just made it a song she listens to. every single other song she's ever heard is inflicted upon her when she's in the car, at work, etc & her friends have their stuff. she's content with that

fishlegs: everything & anything u could possibly think of. it's all put together on one giant playlist. u will hear 1940s jazz followed by georgian chants followed by sam smith followed by power metal followed by edm & it just keeps going. knows the words to every song he ever hears. any genre, any language!! collects vinyl, tapes, cds, YOU NAME IT!!! very passionate abt music!!!!!!

snotlout: 2000s & 2010s pop & edm, duchess by fergie is one of his fave albums ever. loves lady gaga. everything else is dad rock. 80s thrash metal, nu metal, & 90s grunge, mostly. he wants to be cool so so bad, he wants to be a rockstar. learns to play guitar & is annoying abt it (can shred p well tho). is the reason everyone in the friend group has at least ONE slipknot song on their individual playlists

ruffnut: grunge, hip hop, rap, & house music. lots of in this moment & garbage. big kendrick lamar fan. lots of late 80s to early 00s for rap & hip hop. she likes to groove & vibe, occasionally headbang. i think she'd love mary j blige too. i think she, outside of everything listed, has a soft spot for p!nk & listens to her when she's having a hard time (her & snotlout sometimes listen together). i think she'd also enjoy billie holiday on a quiet day & no one is around. (she is not embarrassed by it ay all, she just likes having things for herself)

tuffnut: grunge, 70s soft rock, hip hop, & rap!!! lots of overlap with ruff but obv there's also a lot of differences!! the 70s soft rock is the main outlier. he enjoys cruising around & being wistful as he listens to america, doobie brothers, seals & croft, etc. he puts pop country on his playlists as a joke but it ends up stuck in everyone's heads & smth they all jam to to have fun.

there is a massive group playlist (fishlegs is the one who puts it together but will add a song if suggested) & it is a cacophony of so much shit. they all have their tastes but by the time they're adults they all know each other's songs & sing/jam along & have a fucking blast, esp in the car or at the sanctuary. the playlist is always on shuffle & there is the chance for a rickroll. always

songs that tend to get repeated by the group are psychosocial (slipknot), custer (slipknot), anything by pitbull, fire water burn (bloodhound gang), bbc (jaboukie), anything by woodkid, somebody i used to know (gotye), & anything by they might be giants & other assorted meme songs they love torturing each other with. (they are the most obnoxious group alive)
