I do need you all to know that the favourite to win Iceland’s ESC National Final, Söngvakeppnin, is Bashar Murad, a queer Palestinian man.

His song is Wild West (title in English)/Vestrið villt (title in Icelandic), which he co-wrote with the guys from Hatari (yes, the guys who held up the Palestinian flag during the 2019 contest held in Israel) and even learn how to sing in Icelandic to perform this song.

good evening europe!!! (i know it's not evening over there but... it's close enough)

are you upset at your fave not qualifying? do you want to prove to tumblr that they were the best in their semi? or are you upset about your favourite qualifying but doing poorly, possibly in the jury but especially the televote? that's what this bracket is here for.

how does this work? there are 11 non-qualifiers, and that's not a power of 2, meaning i can't make an even bracket of that. so, side a will be made of 8 non-qualifiers (3 from semi 1, 5 from semi 2). these will start at 7:00AM GMT. the other 5 competitors come from the bottom 5 places of the grand final televote. please send in via the ask box which one you thing it should be!! today (13/05) will be round 1 side a, tomorrow (14/05, 12 hours after the final) will be round 1 side b. then both sides will go at once, so all of round 2 will be on 15/05, round 3 (my semi) will be on 16/05, and round 4 (the final and 3rd place) will be on 16/05. this does mean once one poll finishes, the next will start. and that's why tumblr has queues!

how was seeding decided: side a was seeded based on the eurovision world betting odds and shit i've seen on tumblr, side b is be seeded on the placing of the bottom 5 and also shit i've seen on tumblr

so is there just no ability to submit? nope!!! if you want to send through an argument for others to vote for your snubbed fave, you can pop it through the ask box and i might put it on the vote to provide context and also because tumblr is way funnier than i am. but you can also totally reblog the poll onto your own blog with your argument and depending on my activity i'll reblog it :)
