“Goodnight, my love.”
The warmth of Erwin’s voice stokes gentle low-burning flame which surrounds him, like a protective shielding from the dark. Erwin’s hand rubs down his back.
“Mm.” Levi breathes him in again, the skin of his warm cheek squished into Erwin’s bare shoulder. His hand is tucked between Erwin’s other shoulder and neck. He feels so good. He just wants to push and push until they sink inside each other, with nothing else, with their hearts beating as one.
“You feel good,” Levi mumbles.
His breathing stammers, barely. Both his hands meet around his back, cradling him snug. His head turns some so that his lips press to Levi’s hairline and forehead.
“You feel good,” Erwin says.
He bites down on his lip, breathing Erwin in yet again, and lets his achy eyes drift shut.

Eruri fic rec <3
Part 1
Tumblr media
ugh they are so perfect, this is one of my most fav ships ever!!
these are gonna be all longer fics like 90K+ words but i’ll definitely post another part with shorter ones!
The Blue by bowowline
E | 176.1K | 14/14 | Hitman Levi, AU modern setting, Slowburn, Smut
“Look, kid. Don’t listen to what Uri says, you hear?” Kenny combs his hair with his hand, although there’s not a single strand out of place. “Don’t ever listen to him. You only have one kinda people you have to listen to. You know that, yes? Who do you listen to? Tell me,” he orders, kind of frantic.
“I only listen to the Family,” Levi says absently.
As a child, Levi refused to finish a job. He has not made one blunder after that. Twenty years later, fate catches up to him again.
Birds of Paradise by obiwhat12
No rating (check tags) | 94.9K | 14/14 | Hurt/Comfort, Sick Levi, Domestic Fluff, PTSD
On an expedition gone awry, Erwin and Levi find themselves stranded in the forest, fighting for their lives. They are graced with no other option except to put their faith in one another, despite their vast differences.
Under the same bright stars, they discover a new kind of consolation in each other that neither has known before.
In These Fallen Leaves by masksarehot
E | 210.2K | 32/32 | Temporary Character Death, Post-Canon, Hurt/Comfort, Smut
[Post-Basement canon-divergent AU] Ten years after the end of the war, Levi, still heartbroken over Erwin's death, is living out a quiet existence with a few Survey Corps survivors. But signs are beginning to surface that Erwin is not truly dead, and they're getting too vivid to ignore...
This fic explores (canon-divergent) choices that the survivors made after Erwin's death and their consequences for the world. It's also about healing, and Erwin and Levi learning to put words to things that have always been unspoken between them. And beneath it all are the paths, whispering to them that the fate of Paradis still rests upon their shoulders...
Corps-à-Corps by onthearrow (loved this one)
E | 223.6K | 25/25 | AU fencing, Slowburn, Smut
Meeting people in New York City is hard. When Erwin’s last good friend moves away for greener pastures, he joins the local fencing club in his Upper East Side neighborhood in hopes of rekindling both an old hobby, and his wilting social life.
-OR-
The newest member of Levi's fencing club has it all it all-- money, a highly successful career, overbearingly good looks. Levi doesn't have any of that. But he sure as hell wants Erwin Smith anyway.
The Means by calacreda
E | 130.2K | 16/16 | Post-ACWNR, Pre-AOT, Prostitution, Slowburn
'He hears him say “Do not tell a soul, Levi” and wants to laugh. Tell anyone? To what end? So that others have the images that Levi now has running through his head; of grabbing hands and harness marks, hard words and soft lips, of lies upon lies upon lies in a desperate attempt to get to the truth?'
Levi begins to notice Erwin leaving HQ alone and not returning until the dead of night.
Slow-burn, pre-show Eruri.
He Chose Titans by masksarehot
E | 486.1K | 43/43 | Semi-Canon Prequel, Truama, Fluff, Smut
Erwin swore he would never again be distracted from his fight against the titans, but when an unexpected bond begins to form with Levi, he must decide whether he will follow his heart or his head.
Mail Order Spy by 35g (Jaackdaw)
M | 230K | 24/24 | Slowburn, Espionage, PTSD, Fake/Pretend Relationship
2091. Titans are no longer the frail oddities they once were. They're changing, growing. Governments aren’t changing with them. The International Military Police is tightening their leash. Erwin Smith orders a spy.
Dresden by hedera_helix (one of my all time favs)
M | 334.4K | 26/26 | AU, Historial, WWII
When Levi acquired his false identification he knew that the key to survival would be to stay unnoticed and to contain the bitterness and anger he feels inside himself. As the tides of war start to turn against Germany, however, Levi finds himself in a position to make a choice.
CODA by crownlessk_ing
M | 222.2K | 27/27 | AU 80’s, Musicians, Canon Disabled Character, Period-Typical Homophobia, War Flashbacks
France, 1986 - The last time Erwin was in Paris, he had it all. Youth, love, success, and his place in some of the most prestigious orchestras of the world. His cello had been his faithful companion through it all, and many said Erwin was the most talented cellist of his time. With such a bright future, it was easy to pretend everything was perfect.
But a lot had changed in ten years.
Now, all he had left were ghosts in his shadows, blurred memories of what used to be, and a body broken beyond repair.
He hoped going back to where it all started would be enough to recover what he’d lost: his ability to hold a cello, to feel, to love. He’d been wrong so far. But there may be another soul just as broken as his, someone who was also wandering in search of their own missing pieces.
Final Tour by gouguruheddo
M | 131.9K | 22/22 | Friends to lovers, PTSD, Modern America, Mid-Life Crisis, grief/Mourning, Trust Issues, Hurt/Comfort
It's been twenty years in the army, and Levi is finally home--retired, bored, directionless. The world has moved on without him, including his friend Erwin. He struggles to learn to adjust, to deal with his nightmares, to flourish in a world he's never understood, only to find that Erwin is dealing with the same thing.
Pledge by EllaBesmirched (El_Bell)
E | 123.9K | 15/15 | AU college, Frat Boy Erwin, ex-thug Levi, Slowburn, Light Hazing,
Levi is not in a fucking frat.
The Laws of Survival by pasiphile
E | 120.8K | 7/7 | Slowburn, Dom/Sub Undertones, PTSD, Non-binary Hange
His friends are dead, and now he’s trapped in a world where he has no voice, no control, and no one on his side except for the bastard who forced him to join in the first place.
Trust doesn’t just grow in one day.
Vespers by Valisi (series)
E | 109.5K | 12 Works | read tags
A series of stories detailing Erwin Smith and Levi Ackerman's private life together. Pieces can be read individually or as a whole.
Some pieces will reference things that have happened in past parts of the story, but it's nothing so major that you'll feel left out.

Also, seeing all this in a list is just...astounding. The love this fic got was so humbling, I am truly so grateful to have reached so many people with it.
As for NYC spots...CAC is the master list, but if anybody ever wants a few NYC haunts off the beaten path feel free to message me, I'm happy to oblige.

Fic request; part 2 to Beating Hearts Because that was adorable and needs to be longer. 🥰
glad y’all enjoyed part 1!! here’s part 2 😈🫶
Beating Hearts pt. 2 (pt. 1: here)
A fever had taken hold on Levi in full force since Erwin had met with him that first night. Erwin did his best to stay with him, but with all the mismatched soldiers under one roof— they needed a leader. Erwin found himself rushing back and forth from the main meeting corridor to Levi’s makeshift quarters every few hours.
His presence seemed to be in vain anyway. Levi’s fever raged whether he was there to cool his brow or not. Hanji said it most likely had something to do with his internal injuries, they worried for his health if they couldn’t bring him to a doctor soon. Though, even in his state, Levi had several objections to this.
Levi assured them both that he was fine. In fact, he assured them that his fever was par for the course, despite the way he was shivering and sweating in bed. As much as Erwin endeared Levi’s perseverance and willpower, he also had moments of despising it.
After hours of deliberating, the ship’s occupations finally came to a conclusion of what they were planning to do about Eren. As the ship reached its station at the port and preparations began on the airship, Erwin went back to Levi’s sickroom once more.
He found it empty. Save for Hanji who sat in the chair by the bed with a sour look on their face.
Levi would be damned.
He’d be damned if he was to lay sick in bed when he was supposed to be prepping for battle. What was the point of being humanity’s strongest if he was the weakest link on the boat?
His hands trembled against the steel corridors of the ship. A bit of fresh sea air, that would surely revive him. He’d be fine to fight on.
Then a fit took hold of him.
There was something wrong with his lungs. Something twisted, that poisoned each breath he attempted since that damn blast. He pressed a hand to his chest as the waves of coughs poured out of him. His vision made the walls of the ship corridor dance and sway until his unsteady feet led him outside, to the ship’s deck.
Levi held to the railing of the deck with his good hand as the coughing fit finally subsided. He was left sputtering breaths into his bandaged fist, met with the sensation of something cool and wet against his palm. Blood. If he had to guess.
Footfalls came from behind him, he hastily swiped his palm across his black pants with a wince.
“Levi. You’re not supposed to be out of bed.” Erwin’s voice, concerned… and irritated.
Damnit Hanji. You snitch.
“We’re in a race against the clock here. I’m feeling much better anyway,” Levi responded promptly, tensing his body so he could stand straight. His good hand never left its tight grasp upon the railing.
“That cough doesn’t sound good. And Hanji tells me you still have a fever.”
Levi clenched his teeth at that. It was true of course, his chest was burning— coinciding with the burn behind his forehead.
“Yeah? Well, Hanji exaggerates. I’m not as bad off as I seem.”
“How I wish that were even close to the truth.”
“We don’t have time to be worrying over me. Not with the world in the state it’s in. Right now, Eren is slaughtering hundreds, no, thousands, of people and I'll be damned if I just sit by and wait for—“
“Levi!”
Levi turned sharply, his sore legs threatened to wobble as he did so. Erwin was standing in the middle of the deck, blonde hair swaying in the oceanic wind, fists clenched and arms shaking. He wasn’t looking at Levi, he was looking at the floorboards.
“You will not be fighting.”
“I will, Erwin. That’s not a command I can follow. Not this time.”
“Why? Why is it that important that you go with us? Annie and the children will stay behind, you can watch over them.”
“You want me to stay with the children? I’m not useless, not yet.”
“So this is about your pride?”
“No—”
“Why else would you refuse a direct order from your—”
“Because the last time you charged into the battlefield, I almost lost you!” Levi’s voice cracked. The boat hit a wave and rocked against the shore where it was hitched.
This was untouched territory. They hadn’t spoken about Shiganshina since that first initial night. And that was just a short briefing with the higher ups. Levi hadn’t told Erwin about the nightmares that plagued him after.
“I almost lost you. Time and time again. When my leg was fucked, you made me stay behind. And you went and lost an arm… a goddamn arm. Then again, you charged out to where I couldn’t protect you and you came back with a h-hole through the middle of…”
His entire body was shaking, convulsing with the weight of this resurfaced horror.
“I won’t let you go where I can’t follow. You can’t split us up again. You can’t—”
Leave me again, he thought. But didn’t say.
Suddenly, his cheek met Erwin’s chest. Whether it was because of his own strength failing or from Erwin tugging him forward, he couldn’t tell. He was wrapped— in a tight and warm embrace. Filled with the sensation of this steadiness that only his commander could retrieve from him.
His hands stretched out, clutching the fabric of Erwin’s shirt with white knuckles. His breaths became heaves.
“Then you understand exactly why I don’t want you to come with us, my dove.”
“You promised… Our time left… We would spend it together.”
“Yes, you’re right” Erwin whispered. “I promised.”
Levi breathed into Erwin’s chest, as if it had some form of healing properties. As if his skin could wash away the pain in Levi’s body like the ocean waves upon the sand.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Erwin said, as if he could hear Levi’s thoughts. Hell, maybe he could. “The sea. The breeze. The waves.”
“It wouldn’t be quite as beautiful without you here with me.”
“One more promise, Levi,” Erwin whispered, like sweet honey in tea. “We’ll always come back here. You and I. In this life, or the next.”
“In this life or the next…” Levi echoed, melting into Erwin’s arms.

«Levi saw and now sees the sea at sunset. Gradually darkening, shimmering from white gold to soft pink, lilac, calming down, quietly rustling in small waves under the fading cries of seagulls. These were Erwin’s eyes at the end of the working day, when everyone usually let themselves go, enjoying a well-deserved rest...»

Erwin stares into the faint ripples of the white curtain beside his table. A sturdy round thing, obviously better suited for card-playing than sitting and sipping tea, but… Levi takes no luxuries it seems, even as Captain, even knowing Erwin would be staying with him while he recovered from his flu, as if he deserved no better.
Oh, Levi.
He quickly reminds himself of their compromise before he gets greedy. Levi is absurdly fussy about getting help in the most basic sense, but at the same time it was a forgone conclusion.
Levi had to give in yesterday when he was several hours late to breakfast, unable to explain himself because he had lost his voice. The flu never hits Levi until it does, and it hits him hard.
It’s so rare for him to get sick that Erwin is tense even now, like a spring wound up tight and waiting for a sneeze to set him off.
It's unsettling to see Levi deeply sleep. He's mostly slept through today, but that's the medicine doing its work.
He glances back towards the twin bed where Levi is resting on his back. A hairband is propped behind his ears to keep his bangs clear of his sweaty forehead; his cheeks are the color of apples.
He really deserves a nicer mattress… but part of the compromise was staying in Levi’s old room to keep Erwin’s quarters free of germs. If Erwin wanted to stew in them, that was his prerogative, Levi had retorted—and yes, it was.
But maybe he can haggle when Levi starts feeling better.
Erwin returns to his parchment.
“Mm…”
Erwin side-glances at Levi. He hasn’t woken up, but his shoulders hunch and ripple with a feverish shiver. The mattress cries a tiny squeak as he rolls over, onto his side so Erwin can see the misery deeply etched into his face.
His gaze lingers, wondering if he should risk waking Levi to check his temperature again. (It wouldn’t be on purpose.) His face is glossy, deepened to a beet-red. He sniffles noisily. A few untamed strands have escaped the hairband and cling to his temple like glue.
So finishing up this urgent piece of work, or going to Levi?
He goes to scoot out in time for Levi to whine again. With a little tensing up.
“Momma…” he murmurs. “M-M…”
His nails sink into the loose cotton by his knee. For a second he doesn’t even know what to think, for Levi, indentured to the pain under his breath. It screams its weight, which comes so much heavier by some place in childhood. A feeble call so acrid with pain in Levi’s low tone—if they knew of Levi—is enough to shatter a man’s heart.
“Momma.” He sounds shaky now.
Erwin stands up like a paralysis had seized his body up until now and goes over, sitting by Levi’s chest. He goes to adjust the hairband neatly, and wipe his neck and forehead of sweat with a washcloth set aside. Levi keeps mumbling devoid of meaning, but it all means one word, and Erwin knows it. When his nose starts to run and a tear squeezes out from Levi's tightly shut eyes, he grabs a clean handkerchief (softer on his skin) and starts hushing gently.
"You're dreaming, my love. It's only a dream now."
"Mm-omma. Mommgmomm momma geddup..."
"Shhh..." He swallows and runs his fingers slowly through Levi's hair. It's soft, almost painfully so, for some reason now.
"Momma," he cries.
He's sleeping too deeply. Erwin strokes his hair for now, hoping he'll settle.

Scene from Beyond The Walls
The fresh air helps clear his thoughts. It cools his mind and body, and he no longer feels like breaking someone’s face.
It’s just a matter of time that Erwin comes looking for him. He always does, and he always knows where and when to find him.
It is only another moment before Erwin comes.
“Enjoying your night?”
Levi lets out a sigh in frustration. He doesn't feel like talking, not right now. He can barely put his thoughts together coherently, because none of this makes sense.
“You’ve been here for quite a while,” Erwin says, and he walks to stand beside him. “What’s wrong?”
“Everything is wrong,” Levi blurts out. Something is really wrong with himself tonight, that’s the only way he can explain it. This turmoil that hollows his chest. “This place fucking sucks.”
“It really does,” Erwin sighs, and looks up at the sky. “I ran out of things to talk about already.”
Levi’s still looking at the start when he feels Erwin’s arms against his on the railing.
“But at least it's a beautiful night.”
Levi can't help but huff an anxious laugh.
“You could try dancing for once,” Erwin says, elbowing him playfully, “you know, to blend in.”
“Absolutely not.” Levi sways, pushing Erwin gently, “I can't dance.”
“Everyone can dance, if they really want to.”
“Well, I don’t fucking want to,” Levi grumbles, louder than he intends to.
Erwin turns to him then, his eyebrows furrow. “Why are you so ill-tempered today?”
“I’m not, damn it. Just— fucking finish your business and let’s go back already.”
A grin is slowly building on Erwin’s lips, and Levi shudders, because he knows that grin. It can’t mean anything good. Not for Levi anyway.
Erwin offers Levi a hand, and with a playful smile, he says, “not until you dance at least once.”
Levi clicks his tongue in disapproval, and begins to walk away. “Fuck off, Erwin.”
“Come on, it's easy.” Erwin’s laughing as he chases him. “I’ll show you.”
“Forget it.”
In spite of Levi’s protests, Erwin tugs at his sleeve, drags him away from the railing, and Levi soon finds himself unable to resist his grip.
“I promise you it’s just practice,” Erwin says, and takes Levi’s hand to place it on his own waist. It's warm and firm and thick under Levi’s small hand, even over Erwin’s clothes, and the contact makes his heart race.
“The music marks the tempo of the steps, like this…”
Erwin takes Levi’s hand now, and spins with him around slowly, guiding Levi’s steps. One, two, three, one, two, three. He counts, and Levi follows. Levi’s feet tangle with Erwin’s, who gives much longer strides than him.
“This is stupid,” Levi groans, but he finds himself drawing closer to him with every turn. His grip tightens on Erwin’s waist, and his cheek rests on Erwin’s chest. There it is again, that smell, so particular of him. The air is still warm outside, but the heat of Erwin’s body somehow doesn't bother him. He's even craving for more of it.
It’s Erwin now who holds him by the waist, and Levi’s entire body vibrates at the touch, sending a rush of blood to his groin. He looks up, and Erwin’s watching him closely. His stomach swoops in a strange way.
“You’re doing great.” Erwin smiles, and every bit of anger leaves Levi’s body in an instant.
Erwin’s smile really is like the sun, rising in the middle of the night; exorbitant, impossible. Levi orbits around it, no matter how blinding or overwhelming it is. He draws closer, and closer still, because watching him from a safe distance is no longer enough. He needs to feel him, touch him, even if he burns with him. Anything is better than this agonizing need that’s taken control over him.
“Erwin,” he calls for him, and Erwin tilts his head down slowly, his lips are softly parted, and his breath brushes on Levi’s lips. Erwin’s scent is all over him now, there's no escaping it. It’s driving Levi into insanity.
His hands grip the collar of Erwin’s shirt, he pulls him in as he pushes on his toes, and before he can stop to think about it, his lips are closed on Erwin’s.
There’s a quiet gasp, followed by a sigh of relief, from both. And then, nothing. No sound, no words, no movement.
Levi recoils.
He looks up at Erwin, eyes wide in astonishment. At himself, at his own stupidity, at what he's done. A moment of reasoning flashes before his eyes, and he panics.
Erwin’s staring at him, eyes as wide as his, and Levi shivers as he realizes what he’s done.
“Erwin, I’m—“
Erwin closes his eyes, eyebrows knitted. He turns. Then turns again, runs a hand over his face.
When he looks at Levi again, his eyes are glassy, his nose is flaring, and it’s the scariest face Levi’s seen from him yet. Terror seizes him.
“I’m sorry,” is the only thing Erwin says, loud and clear, then he turns to head back into the ballroom without another word.
The wind carries the merriest melody from inside, where the pairings keep dancing and toasting with champagne glasses in their hands. It lingers in the air for another moment, the tapping of high heels, the loud chattering, the clinking of glasses, while Levi watches Erwin disappear into the crowd.
The door closes. Levi stands there in silence. The moon is bright up in the sky, and it’s the most beautiful night Levi’s ever seen since he first watched the stars. It’s the sweetest irony.

It’s just a dream. Levi knows this because there should be more blood. A slash across the chest- across the neck- there should be more blood. They’re crumpled like paper dolls- there should be more blood. And yet he can’t take his eyes off their bodies.
It’s just a dream.
There’s just not enough blood.
But Levi awakes with a gasp and a scream that catches in his lungs. He’s drenched in sweat and his heart is about to jump out his mouth. He gets to his feet, unsteady steps evident from the creak of wood underneath, gasping for air still.
He lights a candle.
He pushes past Hanji’s door, and when she isn’t there, unsteady footsteps carry him to Erwin’s room. The emptiness is stark.
He’s sick to his stomach, and his breathing betrays him. Terror crawls across his skin and settles behind his eyes. He needs to see them. He stops outside Erwin’s office, where candlelight streams through the cracks of the door. Junior officers are taught to knock. To always knock. But Levi throws the door open, because a second more and he could die.
He sees Erwin- posture relaxed like he had just been enjoying a good laugh, he quirks a brow curiously at Levi. Then a small curve of his lips. You’re here! He seems to say, you’re here. Then he sees Hanji- her hair down to her shoulders, wet from the shower, her expression of surprise, of worry, settling into a comforting smile. He knows this smile. In the best of his dreams he sees this smile. She will always be brilliant, Hanji Zoë. His Hanji.
And finally, the storm abets.
Levi takes a deep breath, and it calms the ocean in his lungs. The air is good here.
Yes, Levi?
It’s Erwin, a glimmer in his eyes like he knows why Levi is here. Like he can sniff out his vulnerability from a mile away. He’s always been good at seeing humanness for what it is, not so good at being- yet his gaze is soft and kind, and Levi wants him to live forever.
Nothing-
He replies. And he turns to leave. They’re okay. They’re okay. He’s just here for his heart. But his steps are stalled when he hears her voice.
Won’t you stay, Levi?
Always, always, always. He makes his way to them. He’s here now. Shrouded in warmth, between the sun and the earth, waiting to be reborn, waiting for two halves of his heart to amalgamate with two wholes.
Levi is here. Like a pea floating atop a broth so rich he could die. The luckiest boy on earth.
He’s here, he’s here, he’s here.
And heaven is all around.
