“Goodnight, my love.”
The warmth of Erwin’s voice stokes gentle low-burning flame which surrounds him, like a protective shielding from the dark. Erwin’s hand rubs down his back.
“Mm.” Levi breathes him in again, the skin of his warm cheek squished into Erwin’s bare shoulder. His hand is tucked between Erwin’s other shoulder and neck. He feels so good. He just wants to push and push until they sink inside each other, with nothing else, with their hearts beating as one.
“You feel good,” Levi mumbles.
His breathing stammers, barely. Both his hands meet around his back, cradling him snug. His head turns some so that his lips press to Levi’s hairline and forehead.
“You feel good,” Erwin says.
He bites down on his lip, breathing Erwin in yet again, and lets his achy eyes drift shut.

Levi peeked his head into the office, watching as pen glided over paper on Erwin's desk, sun peeking through the half-open blinds and reflecting off his transparent eyelashes. "What do you need, Levi?"
Levi simply walked into the office, familiar with Erwin's sixth sense. "What are you writing?" He was now standing next to his desk, craning his neck to read the neat handwriting, but flinching away when Erwin slammed a book over it.
"It's a secret," a smirk tugged at his lips, playfulness evident in his eyes.
"A secret?" Levi repeated, arching his eyebrow.
"A surprise, you may call it."
"Are we finally getting rid of Jeager?" Hope. Levi had hope for the first time in years.
Erwin chuckled. "You wish," the corners of his eyes creased, sun rays meeting his sapphire eyes. Levi almost blushed. That worried him, because he only blushed when it was late at night, and Erwin's mouth was relentlessly kissing and bitting at his skin, determined to explore every crevice.
Okay, yeah, he was definitely blushing now, and Erwin noticed considering he had a shit-eating grin on his stupid face.
"Shut up."
I wrote this literally a year ago in hopes of expanding on it one day, perhaps write a whole fanfic based on this idea that I had back then. I might still do that because this little wip has a special place in my heart. It's just so soft and domestic. I thought I'd share this now though because I'm trying to get back into writing, so hopefully this gets me out of writing block!

Ocean
He stays there, watching the waves breaking onto the rocks, watching the tourists having fun on the sand and the merchants selling ice cream. He also sees people like him who just show up at the beach, willing something to happen. Waiting for the ocean to answer all of their worries and questions. And when he looks to the side, he sees the reason he is here, the reason he cries to the ocean and wishes his entire self to emerge into tears and become one with the sea. Also, the reason his heart beats so fast that he thinks he will have a heart attack, and also the reason he finds himself identifying with the stupid romantic songs the radio plays. He then wishes something different for the infinity blue in front of him. He wishes things weren't as complicated as they tended to be when he was around Levi. He wishes that he could understand what goes through behind those eyes. He wishes for patience because if he learned something from their relationship, it was he needed patience to deal with Levi and all the problems the little guy had suffocated on the way back of his mind.
But when their gaze met he forgot those things, and that's when he remembered why he was still fighting for them, why he was still fighting for this relationship that could have ended a long time ago. The eyes of Levi were what Erwin thinks he was born to look to admire. Most people think his pupils are small, without details, and with a lack of emotions, but only Erwin could see the true form of them. The way his eyes triplicate the size when his guard is down, the way he transpires the weakness he works so hard to hide when he feels secure. Levi thinks Erwin forever will be the only one to make him feel this way.
Erwin also sees the galaxy and stars in them, hiding between all the shades of black and gray, and also revealing the answers to all the questions he had about them. But this time, not only the galaxy was camouflaging in his colors, and Erwin knew well what the intruder in his favorite view was. He feared it.
And then they were staring at the ocean again, in the same silence that had guided them there.
“This will never work out, will it?”
Levi asks. And every single part of Erwin wanted to scream the exact opposite of what he was about to say to the man.
“I fear not.”
Levi scoffs, disbelieving what he was saying as much as Erwin.
“You know I always will…” Erwin continues.
Levi looked at him with indifference
“Don’t. Please, don’t say it. There's no need to this be more painful than already is”
He was right. Erwin doesn't say anything more.
And they stay like that, watching the waves breaking onto the rocks, watching the tourists having fun on the sand, and the merchants selling ice cream. They also see people just like them who just show up at the beach, hoping that the ocean will save their lives. Hoping that whatever happened to them, the infinity blue will undo it. But this time, it didn't.
Erwin doesn't look to the side this time. He keeps his eyes focused on the waves, and when he finally dares to look away, Levi is gone.

Never Bring Your Charm to a Knife Fight Characters: Levi x Erwin Word count: 118 words
As the shadows of their cloaked adversaries stretched beyond the alleyway into the street, Levi grounded himself with one arm outstretched. Just as he raised his knife, a large hand claimed his wrist.
For a moment, his eyes locked with the enemy.
“Now, now…” Erwin’s mouth curled into a slow smile. “It’s futile to resist me, Levi…”
A husky cough escaped the underground vagabond. The way this guy was sizing him up… the way his eyes drifted up and down his stature… the way his breath trembled in anticipation…
“Are you- are you… flirting with me?” Levi interrupted their knife fight.
“That depends…” Erwin raised his dark brows. “…is it working?”
“…no.”
“Then no,” the man answered fluidly.

Erwin Smith is a cat person AND HERE’S WHY!!
jk i think him being a dog OR cat person is believable but I saw someone say him being a cat person after all would be a funny twist and then I realised how much sense it made.
Most people expect Erwin to be a dog person.You know – dogs are loyal, willing, can be easily trained to do X in promise of Y. They can be trained so well, in fact, that you don’t even need to give them a reward - their faith in you is that innate and complete that they will fetch or roll over or indeed lie down even if all you offer them afterwards is a cursory “well done, good job, smart boy.” And while Erwin admits that dogs would indeed, out of the choice between them and their feline counterparts, make better soldiers, it is foolish to think that what he values in his men is what he values in his personal companionships as well. And while dogs can be used for labour, they are - like cats - primarily for companionship. Erwin has always struggled to be close to his men precisely because they are so loyal, blindly and self-flaggelisingly so. They would do anything he asked, some of them, and these men make the best soldiers and the worst friends, because they fill him with a deep sense of guilt and remorse at having to demand such loyalty from them in the first place.
Cats, he finds, are much nicer creatures when friendship is the game.
Cats are not like dogs. They are cold, aloof, unfriendly, and smart. They never trust you, merely tolerate you, and they are impossible to trick or fool. They switch their mood as easily as the wind turns, and even if you treat them nicely they are not guaranteed to even pass gas in your undeserving direction. To put it simply, befriending a cat is a challenge, a task, a mission that requires skill, understanding, and patience. Erwin has always been told to know his enemy, and the same is true with cats.
But cats present a worthwhile reward, if you can manage to commit yourself to the time-consuming, intellectual task of taming them. Where dogs are stupid and overbearing in their affection - which, albeit admittedly nice, can feel overwhelming and ill-deserved at times - cats are conservative with such pleasantries. And so, when they finally deign to butt the side of your leg with their furry little heads or mewl endearingly as they trot up to you, it feels like a real victory, it feels like something you unequivocally deserve. And if Erwin needs anything, it is the type of love he feels as if he actually deserves. Not love that is won from simply being the bigger and smarter life form, but love that is won through being good to those below you, from understanding their wants and needs and not needing to have them sit subservient beneath you and awaiting your orders.
Cats are quieter, too. Stiller things. Dogs are loud, always barking like they’ve had to suddenly scream out a battle plan, always moving and jumping in circles like they’re nervous or preparing to flee. But cats move with a slow grace, an unbothered laxness; a cat does not know, care, or act as if they are in a war. A cat is greater than that - supersedes such petty mortal happenings. A cat can’t sniff for bombs or point to alert you to a fallen soldier’s position on the field, because cats represent something greater than conflict. Cats were only ever partially domesticated, never brought fully into the human way of life. They are transient, they are beings of luxury and calmness and independence. Maybe, Erwin thinks, if the world were comprised more of cats - solitary, intelligent, wary - and less of dogs - obedient, unthinking, impulsive - there would be no need for wars to begin with. And yet that is not how things have turned out. The world is a catastrophic mix of cats and dogs, and we get on with each other just as well. In truth, though, the world is made up entirely of humans, and we are the cause of our own pain.
But Erwin likes cats. He likes the small, happy noises they make and the deep, constant, reassuring rumble of them purring contentedly against his chest. He likes how they can be relied upon to find their own food and water, how they do not look up to him as someone who should, and unfailingly will, provide. They are more his equal than some humans are, and he tries very hard (and subsequently fails) not to feel guilty about that. In the meantime, he scratches between their ears and watches those sly, sharp eyes glinting from amidst the small mass of black fur. It reminds him of someone, and he thinks that also plays quite a large part in why he likes them best.

Dressed to the nines in a brand new black tuxedo, Levi dances morosely by himself. His arms are wrapped around nothing, hanging high in the air. Mocking the warm embrace he misses so dearly. Today is the day that they were supposed to get married. He and Erwin. It was supposed to be small, private, a little victory just their own. Slowly twirling, gliding across the floor in the painful silence, he pretends -just for a moment- that they'd actually gotten the chance to have their first dance as husbands.

Bittersweet Memories
Warnings: angst, hurt/comfort
Characters: Levi Ackerman, Erwin Smith
Prompt: Underground City // Childhood Memories
Author's Note: It has been a While since I wrote anything that isn't oc x canon or reader x character hdjjddj. Yesterday was a good ecperience in getting used to the almost melancholic way of how I want to write most of these
Levi had gotten used to the respect that everyone seemed to maintain, even when they were shitting on the Survey Corps and Erwin. The way his name seemed to be the first word they thought in relation to the Survey Corps. It was even more outstanding how much pride Trost especially seemed to gain as the date approached. Levi leaned against the door frame, watching Erwin with lidded eyes. Those blue eyes seemed capable of hiding so much. Yet, from Levi it didn't seem Erwin had much to hide. Anymore, at least.
"Did you know my father was a teacher?" Erwin suddenly spoke up, peering up at Levi from his desk.
Levi furrowed his brows, "You've mentioned. Something about wanting to find truth." Levi stated, "The fuck is this about?"
Erwin sighed with a low chuckle, "The musings of an old man, that's all." Erwin frowned, "... Who sacrificed so many. One has to wonder, Levi, if this was the right course of action when so many died."
Levi pushed off of the wall, approaching Erwin's desk. "What happened to that whole dedicate your heart bullshit then? You're a soldier, don't come at me with that sappy shit." He scoffed.
The blonde smiled, "As tactful as ever, Levi. Thank you for the reminder. I care about you too."
Levi sighed, turning around. "Whatever, Erwin." Despite his seeming annoyed, he was rather appreciative that Erwin knew what he was saying. Yet there was a certain level of resignation and melancholy in Erwin's voice, mentioning his father. It made Levi think back to a similar moment. It made him think about the last time he let himself actually enjoy a moment.
Levi hadn't been but hardly ten, capable of taking down grown men. It was what Kenny taught him, of course, and he knew it well. By then, Kenny had already departed. Long gone in a crowd of people cheering on Levi in a fight, his first, that he had won. Levi could remember looking up, pride swelling up and hoping Kenny felt the same only for his heart to shatter when his only caretaker turned away. Levi never understood why. Well, until he spoke with him. Levi could at least be appreciative of the man's candor while he was dying. Memories of the past, of the dead, were all Levi had anymore. All anyone who went through that hell had, a time where Levi was sure Farlan would've agreed with him before Isabel said something stupidly optimistic.
Levi still missed them.
Levi wished he could've settled things with so many ghosts of the past. Kenny, Farlan, Isabel, his squad. Levi lingered in the doorway, "The right course is the course where they don't die in vain, shitty brows." He huffed, "We have to give their deathes meaning."
Erwin only hummed in acknowledgment, "Dismissed, Levi."

Our Last Minutes
Summary: The hourglass is almost empty and Shiganshina is drenched in blood around them.
Pairing: Levi Ackerman x Erwin Smith | Eruri
“Is there a way?” Levi’s voice sounds as small as his stature and a soft hopefulness clings to his words.
Erwin can’t help but fix his focus onto the younger man’s eyes though. It’s hard to see the blue in the grey, with the dim light of morning and the shade of the remaining houses casting their shadows over him. But Erwin’s heart skips a beat or five upon seeing that unrestrained flicker of hope in his captain. In a second or so, it’s swiftly replaced by suspicion and caution; things that have rarely contributed to Levi actually being happy.
“There is,” Erwin forces himself to return to their grim reality.
It takes Levi next to no time to let his anger power his words. “You could have mentioned that before. Care to explain why you kept your shitty mouth shut?”
“The plan could go a few ways,” Erwin admits and his words sound and feel heavy. But there’s no relief from saying them. If anything, he feels like he’s suspended in the air, as though his hooks are stuck into the wall and he can’t get down. That weightiness rises up his chest and begins its crawl up his throat.. “Best case; you’ll have a decent chance at killing the Beast Titan. But for it to succeed, the recruits and I have to die.”
As he speaks, another horribly familiar rush of air signals the arrival of the next volley.The impact and the screams rip through the air, drawing both men’s attention.
More men he’s brought to their deaths with this dream of his, Erwin muses as his heart stings at the sounds of death. Is he a monster for chasing this? For dragging everyone out here for his dream, even if it was in humanity’s best interests. Though, it’s a dream he isn’t likely to see accomplished after everything they’ve gone through.
Maybe this is his comeuppance for his pride, for his shameless selfishness and for the arrogance of believing that he could be a figurehead in leading humanity’s fight back against the titans. Maybe this is what comes when you dare to dream too big. Fate can be cruel in its irony. The very notion of not living long enough to make it to that cellar feels like a fist, made of stone, clenching inside his chest, making everything hurt.
His gaze shifts back to Levi, watching Humanity’s Strongest drink in the latest act of devastation. He hasn’t had time to react to Erwin’s announcement, at least not out loud but something flickers behind his eyes, a racing thing.
Time isn’t on Erwin’s side. He can’t stand here and say everything that he wants to say. He can’t thank him for the late nights in his office or in his quarters. the morning rides dressed up as meetings or the frequent visits to Levi’s favourite cafe whenever Erwin forced him to accompany him to the Interior to talk with nobles. They’re in public so he won’t ignore the captain’s aversion to public displays of affection by reaching for his shoulder. He won’t lean down and press his lips against paler ones or brush them against ink-dark hair. He won’t cast aside Levi’s comfort zone at the eleventh hour.
Erwin Smith; he’s a selfish man, always has been when it came to knowledge and truth. He’s never hidden his other “preferences” nor pretended to be anything he isn’t. But, as much as he wants to take the other man and pull him into their last embrace, he won’t do that to Levi. He won’t die with that kind of dishonour on his soul.
“The Survey Corps may survive,” Erwin continues, professionalism more of a strain as well as habit at this point, “but regardless, most of us will end up dead.”
Levi’s attention jerks back to him, an audible intake of breath following. In that moment, Erwin can see the blue of his eyes, wrapped up in the grey.
“Frankly, we’re almost guaranteed to be defeated no matter what.” Erwin remarks as he walks around Levi and advances on a box sitting against one of the houses that is still mostly intact for now. “The recruits and I will be staking our deaths on the slimmest chance of victory.”
Footfalls behind him, albeit much quieter than his own heavy footfall, indicate Levi’s presence behind him.
“For this to work, to convince these youths to charge towards their deaths, it would take an expert conman and a whole slew of blatant lies.” Erwin half smiles as he talks. It turns out that he is just the man for the job after all. What else could you call someone who lures people in and then leads them to ruin? Good intentions or not, that’s what he’s done for over five years now. He’s pretty damn good at it.
“If I don’t lead the vanguard myself, none of them will have the courage, which means I must be the first to charge and the first to be slain as well. So I’ll never learn the truth,” Erwin’s voice quietens as he turns away from the wall and towards his… None of the words that would usually spring to mind do Levi any justice: lover, partner, friend, soldier or comrade. They were all insufficient.
“Huh?” There’s that softness in Levi’s voice again. He advances on Erwin slowly, the usual neutral expression upon his face has disappeared. He stares at Erwin like he can’t quite comprehend what he’s seeing, like none of Erwin is getting through to him. It’s been a long time since Erwin has seen him look like that on the battlefield. He doesn’t comment on it or the fact that Levi is about to lose someone yet again.
They’re both losing something.
The facade of the commander’s confidence and willingness to face his own death slips out of Erwin like water. He sinks down onto the box, hearing it creak under his weight. He pays it no mind. Like everything else, it’s going to be rubble soon enough.
“I just wanted to reach that cellar.” Erwin whispers and gone is the determination and confidence. “Everything I’ve done up until this point, I’ve done in the hopes that this chance would come. I dreamt that I would get to prove I was right. Many times, I’ve felt that death would have been easier. But then I- I thought of the questions I needed answered. They’re what I live for and now those answers are no more than a coward’s leap away.” He lifts his hand in front of him, wishing he could just reach out and take the truth and look at it. Just once. Even if it could only last a second.
But as he gazes up at Levi, he feels his heart clench. It wasn’t my only reason in the end.
Somewhere inside him, a damn cracks and emotions pour into his shoulders and chest. He’s shaking with dry sobs now. “I’m so close.” His restraint slips away for just a few seconds and he has to mentally drag himself back to form.
“Can you see them too?” he croaks. ”Our comrades. They’re all standing around us. They’ve been watching us all this time. They want to know what we did with the sacrifices that they made, what became of the hearts they gave.”
Another bombardment smashes the houses around them, breaking through Erwin’s melancholy with a terrible crash. How the house behind them is still upright, Erwin doesn’t know. He doesn’t flinch at the sound nor does he raise his eyes to the sounds of his soldiers dying.
“But that’s probably just in my head, right?” Erwin glumly questions. “Of no more import than a child’s bad dream.”
Erwin locks eyes with Levi again, his words leaving him for the time being. Everything in his body feels like it’s slowing down, like even his heart is trying to give up.
Levi doesn’t speak at first, leaving Erwin’s mind to wander while he watches him. What is he making of all this? He can’t help but silently curse Levi’s reluctance with words, for this moment, when he absolutely needs him to speak. To say something about the past six years, about the Scouts and the mission and their private moments.
Erwin’s eyes lower and then rise again when suddenly a sweep of green and black enters his vision.
Levi is kneeling before him, his head bowed. The sight of him like that chases away some of Erwin’s capacity for thought. It’s such a submissive gesture - not something ordinarily associated with the captain. Yet here he is where anyone could come by and see him. That speaks volumes about the situation, Erwin notes. His fingers stretch out, like they want to stroke through the smaller man’s hair, as they’ve done so often.
But when the man speaks, Erwin’s hand hesitates.
“You led us well, fought hard. No one else could have gotten us this far,” Levi tells him, voice breathy and heavy. Erwin’s heart unclenches a little on hearing the weight of the moment reflected in his lover’s tone. Erwin appreciates that Levi can say the words Erwin needs to hear despite what it means for them, for what they have.
“I’ll make the choice for you,” Levi adds after a pause and his voice sounds only a little stronger than before. Even so, when he raises his eyes to Erwin’s, they are shrouded in shadow, like he’s already falling into grief despite Erwin still being in front of him. Erwin’s chest pangs.
Together with the hard line of his lips, cold resolve glares out of Levi. “Give up on your dream and charge to your death,” he declares. “Lead those crying children straight to hell.” Another pause. “I’ll reach the Beast Titan and tear him apart.”
I’ll avenge you, is what he’s really saying. Once again, Erwin sees the blue in his eyes. A blue of pain.
Erwin releases a breath and, oddly, he smiles. He can take some reassurance from that promise. Not everything will go to hell today. And it will give Levi a focus. Once more the urge to reach for the raven haired man grows stronger. His fingers twitch,
“Erwin,” Levi’s lips remain parted like he wants to say more but something seems to hold him back. Erwin watches the uncertainty dance over the captain’s face.
“It’s all right, Levi.” Erwin assures him. “I’ve accepted what needs to happen.”
“It’s not all right,” Levi spits back, intensity taking over his eyes as they stare into Erwin’s. “None of this is fucking all right.” He bows his head again. “Why is this happening again…? Why…?” His hands have fisted and, it’s barely noticeable to the ordinary eye but Erwin is close enough to observe the tremor in his body.
Why do you keep losing people? Is that what you’re asking? Erwin wonders.
“I’m being punished,” Levi croaks. “For everything back then… I’m being punished.” His shoulders have slumped and he’s sinking lower to the ground.
This isn’t him, Erwin reflects, he’s not the sort of man to indulge in such things. Nor is he someone who would appreciate further platitudes and delusions. Erwin knows this well. It makes everything just that bit harder.
This time Erwin’s hand moves to finally hold Levi’s shoulders, keeping him from falling forward. “Maybe it’s me who’s being punished. You’ve saved more lives than you could ever take, Levi. But I’ve led hundreds of soldiers to die.”
“Soldiers who volunteered, Erwin. Stop taking that shit upon yourself.”
“You did what you had to to survive in a different kind of hell. You’re not like Kenny.”
Levi tenses up at the mention of the man. “Is there really no other way out of this?” he deflects. “Some way where we don’t lose humanity’s hope?”
“Eren is humanity’s hope, Levi.”
“Bullshit!” Levi snaps. “We need Eren, yes, but he’s a hotheaded little shit. You’re the one who leads us. You’re the one-” he breaks off with a growl. “Fuck this,” he murmurs. “Fucking hell.”
“Levi-”
“Shut up!” Levi’s head snaps up. “Just…” His gaze drops to Erwin’s mouth.
They move as one; lips melting against each other, fingers sliding into hair and capes, tightening and pulling closer. Heat explodes through them and they chase the feeling, the buzz that rushes through their blood Each touch sends a pleasurable warmth through them. It’s indulgence and heartbreak all at once. It’s home. The last vestige of a home that is about to disappear forever.
Levi is a quiet kisser but Erwin draws out the tiniest grunt from him when he deepens the kiss and loops an arm around his slim waist to pull him further between his legs. His fingers yank on Erwin’s hair yielding a soft groan from the commander into their kiss.
Erwin allows himself that one last bit of selfishness, to hold Levi one last time.
Seconds later, the next bombardment forces them both back into reality and, just like so many other things in this world, the last time has been and gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fate has found a new way to torment Levi, it seems.
The captain reflects on that as he replays the light fading out of Erwin’s eyes over and over in his mind. Once more, it feels like his heart s being clawed open and all the air ripped from his lungs. Grief finds him again, like a cackling fiend from his nightmares, summoning all of Levi’s most intimate memories with Erwin and playing them in slow motion, in vivid colours, at full volume in his mind.
Is this the right thing? Letting the man die. Letting someone he cares about die instead of saving his life. Is he betraying him? Has he just shot to pieces everything that they had? Maybe. But keeping Erwin in this hell sits even less comfortably with Levi. Something in his gut tells him that.
Despite being alone with the commander, Levi’s mask remains - something he holds out of habit. But beneath that mask, the agony crushes him. It’s so intense that every defence mechanism within him is rigidly standing to attention, pushing back against the sadness and slowly exhausting him.
Hange has gone with the others to take Armin to safety. Sasha’s gas tanks were swapped with Levi’s, giving him the fuel to catch up with them later. For now, he remains with Erwin, haunted by the fragility of the man as he accepted his own death. The memory plants further doubt in Levi’s mind now.
Was I wrong? Have I endangered humanity with this decision? Is Erwin really better off out of all this? Would he resent me for not giving him another chance at seeing that cellar? No. We don’t know that titan secrets will necessary be down there or if we can even get to it. All of this could be for nothing.
Levi swallows as his own words float back to him.
Choose whatever you’ll regret the least.
This isn’t a situation with a no regrets option. In both scenarios, there would be something to regret. He was never going to get out of this without bringing someone back to this hell. Someone was always going to have cause to resent him one way or the other.
“I hope this was the right choice,” Levi murmurs. “You’ve done your part for humanity, Erwin. Be at peace now.
Everything comes to an end, eventually. People leave, never to return. Wars fade away, satiated with the blood sacrifice. Night follows day only to give way to the dawn a few hours later. Bridges burn, doors close.
Only death is eternal; in his short and quite shitty life Levi has learned it by heart.
Erwin’s now former room is devastatingly empty without Erwin and suffocatingly full of memories. They attack Levi as soon as he crosses the threshold, grab him by the throat, punch him in the gut. Their sweetness is bitter on his tongue; they smell like Erwin, sound like Erwin. Levi lies down on the floor and closes his eyes; memories weigh on him from above with the familiar heaviness of the body — hot and solid, healing and reliable, alive.
Everything comes to an end, that’s right. Levi will come to an end, too — one day; not now; way too not now; not soon enough, however inevitably (and just thinking of it makes it easier to breathe). But as long as there is at least something left of him — a hollow shell, acting by reflex, driven only by an unbidden power circulating inside — the memories will live on.
if RtS was reversed, and Erwin lived instead of Levi, the expression on Levi’s face that’d stick with him for the rest of the story - like Levi w/ Erwin’s smile - would be the look Levi had the moment they were alone right before their argument.
Erwin feels so much self-hatred and shame just… at his baseline that Levi’s death would just annihilate him emotionally. in that way, he’s dead too.
at best he’d think Levi pities him for letting him die (regardless of how much that’s actually based in reality), and at worst Levi regrets having anything to do with Erwin or the Survey Corps, but most of all he resents Erwin for “tricking” him into it. (this is infinitely more painful than canon RtS eruri somehow).
all he could fixate on, towards Levi, is the pain he ended up putting him through just to get the best hope for humanity killed (again regardless of how relevant that is…). and… Levi, killed. Levi who put all his faith in him. *10 page essay of everything Erwin admires about Levi*.
so this moment stands out in his memory the most. what if he had stayed? or what if he gave them both a different reason to fight for in that moment? - when Levi asked him whether seeing the basement is the most important thing to him.
it doesn’t really matter, but that’s the single last time he saw Levi upset by his actions, probably the only time it was so clear, and raw, abject. it was just the night before. of course Erwin finds that to blame himself for.
— When will it stop hurting? ˚⁎⁺ levi ackerman x erwin smith
Levi has a nightmare, where he meets someone unexpected.
“Levi, thank you,” Erwin’s hellish voice rasps out for what feels like the hundredth time.
Every night, it’s the same. Erwin finds Levi through every corner of his mind. He finds him, ensnares him and consumes him.
In this memory, Erwin is beautiful and terrifying, heavenly and sinister.
Where Erwin’s feature should be stands a man with no face, a phantom with only one arm, his Survey Corps uniform stitched to his skin. After all these years, Levi no longer remembers his lover’s face. No longer recalls that wistful smile, or the exact shape of his nose, or the way his blue eyes twinkled with the vastness of the skies.
What he does remember is the pain.
“You promised, Levi,” Erwin says grimly, thick crimson blood streaming down his face. “You promised.”
“I know,” he answers back sadly, tearing his gaze away from Erwin—no longer able to stare at him, or the lack of him.
That seems to only enrage the specter, who reaches with his only arm, snatching Levi’s face to force him to look, to gaze upon the carnage. Erwin’s skin suddenly glows white, and where his mouth should be suddenly turns into a gargantuan black hole, a grotesque hollowness of death and destruction, ready to swallow everything whole.
“You promised…” Erwin repeats, voice now turned demonic.
“I know!” Levi yells back, mustering all his strength to push himself away. Before he knows it, his eyes shoot wide open, tearing him away from Erwin’s monstrous comfort and back to reality.
For a moment, Levi feels paralyzed, eyes burning, nails digging into the mattress of his bed, cold sweat clinging to his bare skin. He lets out a ragged breath, his heart swelling with ache.
Levi feels wrong, like all his skin burns for Erwin’s touch. The ghost of his lips on his body, the tickling of his breath on his neck, the vibration of his laughter on his chest.
It’s all too much.
Fuck.
He brings a hand to his face as he tries to compose himself—breathing in and out, in and out. The agony does not subside.
When will it stop hurting? he thinks with another heavy breath. When can I finally stop feeling all these emotions?
Levi doesn’t have an answer, and neither does the silence of the night.
ANDREA for the drabble prompts:
[FOREHEAD] - sender feels receiver's forehead.
eruri. levi wakes up feeling a lil under the weather. levi wants to underplay it but erwin’s hand is so nice and cool that he’s convinced to get some rest. just soft🥺
Gee! You know I love writing eruri!
Tumblr media
Levi isn't one to sleep in, so when Erwin is the first one to wake up one morning, with the soft summer breeze drifting through the curtain, he knows something is up. He hates the thought of waking Levi up, since his sleep had been so fitful for so long, that breaking the restful sleep he gets in their bed seems like a sin. Still, Levi's bangs are pasted to his forehead despite the coolness of the morning, and his face is drawn into a frown, and Erwin worries that something is wrong.
He shifts onto his side and brushes his hand up and down Levi’s arm.
"Levi?" He keeps his voice low and soft so it doesn't betray the worry seeping into his bones at the clammy feel of Levi’s skin.
Levi moans and his eyes peel open, squinting against the sun poking in through the window.
"Are you feeling unwell?" Erwin asks, still running his hand in smooth strokes along Levi's arm.
"Just a little chilled, I guess," Levi mutters, but his entire face betrays him. Sweat drips from his forehead, and his hoarse voice hints at something more.
"Sounds like you've caught something," Erwin comments as he sits up. "Stay in bed today."
"Mmmnno," Levi drawls as he slowly, painfully, pushes himself to sit. Every muscle aches and his head pounds, and he struggles not to wince against the pain. "Gotta do... train m'squad."
Erwin places his hand on Levi’s forehead and is shocked to find just how warm it is. Levi leans forward into the touch, closing his eyes and sighing.
"Your hand is so cool," he mutters. "Feels...s'nice."
"You've got a bad fever," Erwin says gently. "You're staying in bed."
"It's fine. I'm fine. Just need to...mmm." For a moment, it seems like Levi drifts briefly back into sleep as his brow furrows. "Just need some tea."
Erwin pulls his hand away and shifts into a kneeling position so he can grab Levi's shoulders. He's not entirely surprised that he finds no resistance as he guides Levi to lay back down.
"Don't make me make it an order, Levi. Please, just stay in bed. I'm going to get a cold cloth for your forehead."
Erwin rises and makes for the bathroom, but Levi’s voice stops him.
"No. No...hm...cloth. Put your hand back? Please?"
Erwin turns and sees Levi; sweating, eyes reddened, his look a soft plea. He smiles and sits back on the bed, leaning his back against the headboard. Levi shifts closer to him, pressing his shoulder to Erwin’s leg. Slowly, Erwin rests his hand back on Levi’s forehead and can't help the smile that spreads on his lips at the look of peace that settles onto such a feverish face.
"Rest well, Love," Erwin whispers as Levi's breaths even out into soft snores.
A few things about this here blog:
You can call me C, I’m a nblw and a huge fan of D/s—when I’m not yearning for a butch, I am yearning for my 2D malewife. This is primarily a Levi self-ship/Fem!OC ship blog, but you will also find GN!Reader content, aot meta, and fanart of other Levi ships (namely eruri and levihan, I don't actively ship either tho I think they’re neat). NOT a fan of Levi x minor ships, ie ereri and rivamika, as I'm not cool with inappropriate age gaps, even in fiction. Lots of NSFW content in general, ergo 🔞.
*FYI: I hc Levi as a bisexual bratty sub who leans service top, may or may not be transmasc, and blue collar through and through. But ofc I don't mind other Levi flavors (I also reblog traditionally masc dom Levi and some white collar Levi stuff).
If you’d like me to tag anything specific, just ask!
Non-Levi usually sapphic smut tags are princess Domme desires & sapphic posting.
You can check my posts which includes my musings that aren't strictly about Levi or aot.
I write, you can find my fanfics, drabbles & headcanons in bitchy writes —My fanfics tend to be fairly long stories which take time, I am not on a schedule.
I draw, you can find my art in bitchy draws. Same as my fanfics, I take my sweet ass time.
