Established actress and a media darling, former miss world winner. First time acting as a villainess. Previously, it was mostly romantic dramas.

Relationship: Rumoured to be engaged to an another established fellow actor (not anyone from TRE)

Sexism in Remarried Empress

I think it goes without saying, Remarried Empress differently has sexism in it. I'd say it's almost hypocritical.

Starting off with Rashta. When I see slanders, It's mainly about her. The literal slave who couldn't refuse being 'the other woman' even if she tried.

However, I do not see enough people shitting on the male characters.

Anyways, fuck Kaufman, Heinrey, Alan, and Ergi.

'You're against the male lead??' Yeah. Lol. I'd talk about Sovieshit in this post but I have an incredible amount of anger towards him that deserves it's own post.

Kaufman's role is just the rejected male lead. He's more or a less a small plot device. I can forgive him a little for punching Sovieshit, but seriously, by giving Heinrey a love potion, without Heinrey's knowledge is uh.... well it's something. Especially how he made Heinrey vulnerable to Krista.

Heinrey is genuinely so flat. Honestly, his fake personality feels a lot like Rashta. I'm getting rather tired of poorly executed personality switch. It always did feel Heinrey was hiding something, but I feel as though he comes off as cartoony, with how he's basically a tripped up plot device.

Alan is a real piece of work, he's a 'good father' and all, but people ignore he was Rashta's abuser, or at the bare minimum allowed her abuse. He got her pregnant and let her see that corpse thinking it was hers. Also I don't think that Rashta could've consented (She was literally his slave) so it's got underlying undertones of SA.

Kosair isn't an antagonist either, but honestly, he's also an issue. I understand he was trying to help Navier, but trying to make Rashta miscarry? That was just wrong. And he also brought up Rashta's slave certificate.

Ergi literally ruined Rashta. Forcing her into tight spaces, exploiting her trust and encouraging her awful behavior and being a seed of paranoia. He uses her all the time, even giving out her information to her father (Who originally sold her into slavery. I want him dead.)

THE VILLAINESSES?

Krista, and Rashta. An abused slave, and a woman who basically went through the same thing Navier did, but I could even say it's worse. Marrying your crush's brother, who then promptly dies, and leaving you to basically fight for your throne. It's a little weird she liked Heinrey, whether that be genuine feelings, or just her coveting the throne.

But something I'd like to note is guess which morally dubious characters die. Rashta and Krista. Both of the antagonizing women who didn't really do anything. It just feels wrong that the only female antagonists are killed. None of the male antagonists/morally grey characters (who most definitely have done worse) It just feels overall sexist both women are able to get killed, but none of the men have to really suffer. It gives me the feeling of Navier vs entire female population.

i would have been called ergi back then much as i am called contemporary slurs today. but now, i see both sets of words, and i have no impulse to 'defend my honour'; i am, and to be is an honour in itself. i may not have had the ability to do that way back, but i have to wonder if any of my ancestors did, privately, feel as i feel.

Back from the dead to discuss Rashta some more given the most recent chapters. I'm caught up to 175 so if you're not there, I completely understand if you wanna avoid this post.

My opinions on Rashta have not changed one bit. She's still my favorite and I feel so incredibly bad for her, especially as time goes on and the scheming she does is more and more just... desperate. I won't excuse her crimes or anything but there's so many people who are willing to victim blame her to hell and back and it's not right.

Rashta is a slave, she was no one, no one has ever taken her seriously and the only ones who ever did were Navier and her previous owners. Sovieshu practically confirms that Rashta never mattered and all that ever did was him having a baby with someone.

He never loved her, he never respected her, he needed her womb and thought she was pretty. He didn't keep her on a leash and shielded her only so much as it protected his interests.

The same goes with Ergi. Ergi is using her and I think Rashta kind of knows that but her desperation is just so extreme she needs to rely on someone and unfortunately her trust is misplaced. Whatever ending she gets is going to be a horrifically tragic one and I just feel so so bad for her. Not a friend in the world and no one to rely on. From a slave to a place holder empress back to nothing.

What happens when Sovieshu is done with her? What happens when she's not empress anymore? She has nowhere to go and no family to go with unless her fake parents plan on keeping the act up and taking her in but I doubt it since like... half their reason for doing anything was because they needed Rashta and her position to find their real daughter, a truth Rashta is sitting on currently because she's damned if she tells them and damned if she doesn't.

It genuinely feels like everything is spiralling out of control and I can't help but watch her world get shattered and feel sad.

So,if your ever an author for remarried empress,what would you fix in the webtoon and why?

Well I'm a navieshu shipper so of course I'm going to lean towards that. Sovieshu will find Rashta and help her and give her employment in the palace. Him falling for her didn't make sense judging by his past character (even Navier was surprised in canon). They'll have misunderstandings and will get divorced but both of them will remain single afterwards (no remarriage or concubines). Navier will go out and have her adventures with dragons and what not. Slowly figuring out herself and missing Sovieshu but she thinks he doesn't love her.

I'll give Ergi better motivation than to blame Sovieshu for Alessia cause that crap doesn't make sense.

Birdpoop will be the same as he's already a pos. (Man I loved Rashta sidestory where she immediately suspected something was wrong with the bird and grabbed bird h*inly). Rashta will not let him stalk Navier because of this.

Rashta is a feisty girl, I'd love for her to train and get a place in the army of Eastern Empire and get her revenge against her enslavers.

Sovieshu meanwhile will rule the emperor and investigate the magic decline and missing Navier all the time.

Let birdpoop invade the eastern empire and get his ass handed cause he forgot that western kingdom is a landlocked country and other rulers hate him (canonically other rulers aren't his biggest fan either)

Krista regains self respect and doesn't lose her dignity.

The main villain will be another evil sorcerer (Ergi ) who has been sealed away for long due to vict family and now here's to take revenge and injures Sovieshu and Navier returns after hearing this thinking Sovieshu died, realizing she loves him more than she thought. She gets her hidden power during her adventures and uses that to save him.

Ergi's body is basically possessed during the fire incident and joins hands with birdpoop as it helps his goal. Would love for him to kill birdpoop after the lost war as he became useless to him after that.

Navier Rashta friendship. Navier uses Dolshi Dragon and forms a dragon army. Sovieshu recovers and they together defeat the main villain. To add a bit of tragedy, maybe Kosair dies... Kaufman is hugely injured.

They finally defeats possessed Ergi and the truth comes out about his possession. I wouldn't mind a Rashta Ergi ship.

Navier and Sovieshu finally talk like adults and Sovieshu begs Navier to take him back even if she hates him. Navier will be surprised, beat his ass for being an idiot but they get back and hence the remarried empress.

They make a better treaty after the huge war, slavery gets banished (Rashta plays a great role in it).

Sovieshu and Navier have another royal wedding.

Sidestory:

Sovieshu and Navier have a happy ending and long after their marriage when they have given up about having a baby and making peace with it Navier suddenly becomes pregnant. The boy will have dark hair like Sovieshu and green eyes like Navier.

Ergi and Rashta get married and Ergi adopts Ian as his and later she gives birth to another daughter.

Their babies are decided to get married for future.

Cue old Sovieshu playing with his grandkids talking about how he married Navier two times and Navier rolling her eyes in the background but smiling.

The end.

One of the things I love about the word ergi is how much it encompasses. It has often been translated as homosexuality, but that is just wrong because homosexuality is just a small part of ergi. It is really just any kind of gender non-conformity. Hallgerður shows ergi in Njála just by being a girlboss, she was never implied to have homosexual relations but she challenged her role as a woman and thus, she was örg (adj. of ergi, f.). Ergi was any challenge against the gender roles, the clothes people wore, the work they did and, of course, their sexualities. Nowadays we have all these specific words to describe our queerness, and that’s wonderful I love my labels, but anytime I feel the need to question them I find comfort in knowing that, no matter what, I am argt (adj. of ergi. n.)* as fuck.

ergi is an old norse term of insult, denoting effeminacy or unmanliness. it’s a term some gay heathens have reclaimed for themselves - which makes me happy (i saw someone use it as their middle name)!

norse heathenism has been something i’ve followed for quite some time. i’m not someone who has an alter or does many offerings - mostly because i don’t have the space and live with people who are a bit weird about it. i keep the gods and goddesses close by just… thinking of them. talking to them. making little things of or for them.

norse heathenry is open to all. there’s this misconception that only nordic people can practice, but that’s bullshit. i read something a long time ago (that i need to look into again) that said something about how the norse gods and goddesses leave the door open for all, and always have.

i have a few norse heathen-themed things in my shop. mostly þór, loki and óðinn stickers, as well as some anti-fascist stickers/pins and symbols known as galdrastafir (or icelandic magical stages).
