The Life of Harnathir, for Tolkien OC Week @tolkienocweek day 5: Worldbuilding
Harnathir is a shared OC with @mrdaroga who also did most of the writing below!
The father said, “I have sired a runt, a stain on my name…”
“Oafishness shall not be rewarded.”
“Brutes only understand brutishness.”
He found no peace in Valinor, and swore one day to escape it.
He raised his sword, yet remained silent, and in his heart he swore his own oath, alone.
Blood and brine dripped into his eyes and stung them, and when Erëníra boarded the ship, the others called him by a new name.
Possessing no other skill nor craft of hand to make his way, he set forth to fell the forests of Himlad tree by tree.
His hair was shorn, and his lord said, “Hide not thy scar, for it was earned in service of a worthy cause.”
The hardest lesson of that pit; that worse was always yet to come.
Two sons of Fëanor stood above and called to him, "Stand and fight, or die."
"Here standeth a Champion in total Victory!" Curufin declared.
When his master saw his strength and the fire of his will within him, the fighter found favor in his eyes and became his attendant.
"Lord and country, I forsake it all gladly."
“He has grey hair, just like mine…”
Beneath the portrait was inscribed the motto of the House: Be unto thy Lord as the Chalice to Wine, Give Him shape.
"A snake’s scales will shine like jewels in the sun, and dazzle fools into believing it is treasure..."
"All the pieces fall into place. You all played your parts so perfectly..."
