When experimenting the fabrics, I like the way the silk turned out with the inks and the shine it gave. When going to buy the fabric, I asked for silk and got ripped off with satin. At the time I didn't really know the difference so I didn't really care too much as both the fabrics had a shine that I wanted for the inks to shine more on the fabric bringing out a better effect than others. But when actually starting to use the fabric a lot had come to me about the difference between silk and satin and how frustrating and more time consuming it made my project be. The main difference I realised, is that silk is much softer and easier to work with compared to satin being a bit more thicker and not really able to adapt to different shapes or styles quicker. Satin threaded so quickly however I didn’t experience that with silk no matter how close I sewed to the edge of the fabric. Not knowing this was going to be an issue for me at the start, I never though of a Plan B for if this didn’t work out.
Re asses ideas according to time
Because I was short on time now that I had spent way to long stressing of the shirt that completely failed. I needed to think of a back up plan that i could creating using the same fabric as I had a lot of it left but would also be easier to make in the time I had left as I also had the Photo Studios booked out for the following week to take photos so I was able to create my Posters for FMP. Looking back through my blog and the research I did, Scarfs was the main thing that was looked at by the modest fashion designers and by brands that were diversifying. This was a good idea as it was easier to cut and sew and would be able to be done in the time I had remaining.
Next steps
Now having an idea for what I want to create, I started planning out what I want to do with them scarfs and how I want the calligraphy to look on them. I also started to assess how long cutting, colouring, stitching and screen printing would take for the scarfs, the amount I wanted to create with the fabric I had remaining also taking into account things such as washing the scarfs to remove any excess inks/ drying times for both the inks and the screen printing.
